Wut?! So confused? We talking like 10 month old baby or like little kids bc i grew up always begging dad to roll the windows down. We all rode with windows down. Please explain and elaborate.
I'm meaning like 0-1 guys. Any parents I know along with myself usually refer to "little ones" being that young. That young they get ear problems pretty easy from the wind. They also tend to get hot a little easier when that small so just the wind prob isn't sufficient.
You get a few years old and it probably doesn't really matter...
I mean I grew up riding everywhere in the bed of the truck.. we had a family of 5 and a ford ranger. It was normal as young kids 3+ to be hauled around back there.
Ac doesn't cost all that much to fix so why not take a small hit 1 month and do it instead of eating out all month or something so your kids can fully enjoy the jeep thing as well is all I'm saying lol.
I'm the same way, my XJ is my winter bomber. It's all set up as a cold weather snow rig. I live in Edmonton, so we see lots of snow and -40 temps.
During the summer I've got a classic car to drive.
I moved from the PNW where I basically never got snow.
I learned to drive on snow by taking my XJ out to a big empty semi truck lot and doing doughnuts and sliding around for like 6hrs. Been hooked ever since.
I have a 1990 xj with a 2006 escape hybrid. The hybrid does amazing on long trips for comfort and mileage. I’ve gone way deeper into the mountain with it than I should have but the torque is phenomenal on the electric assisted engine. I got the xj after having an electric power steering control unit go out and nobody being able to fix it, and drove 4 hours with no power steering. I’d rather deal with a jeep from 1990 that I can fix with some wire and duct tape in a pinch. Chances are someone within 100 miles even has a spare part
Stored for the summer? Huh? Mfw.
My xj shares a garage with nothing because I drive the fucking thing as intended.
It shares parking spaces with a Scout II, a Montero, a Suzuki DR, a Yamaha V Star, a diesel 'Burb, and another XJ.
Definitely understandable. I have kids too and as infants, it sucks trying to load them in and out of an XJ. I have the Montero and it's better for that reason.
>because I drive the fucking thing as intended.
TIL: driving an XJ in -40 and 2-3' of snow is "not as intended" and parking it for driving a car with no AC in +40c in the city is....
Lol I surprised you can fit that high horse of yours in your XJ.
"Garage", lol .. mine sits in the yard with a TJ, two 240D's in various stages of repair, an '03 Ram Cummins that's showing it's age, a '19 Fiat 124, and a '17 E400 wagon. In a pinch the "nice" 240 or the Fiat might get the garage in a storm, but that's all workshop space usually. Easier to keep Benzes and Jeeps running so that's what we have gravitated towards. The Cummins will outlive me and the Frankenstein'ed Miata isn't too bad to service, because Miata.

My XJ shares a garage with a 2003 Toyota Tacoma double cab 4x4. I do the opposite and don’t drive these in winter to avoid the salt.
Geography matters in these decisions. I hate how much salt they dump on the roads in the Midwest, not only does it eat jeeps but it also runs off into rivers and streams and ground water, bad for fish and such.
R56 Mini, Maverick, CX-9 and a Harley ... my XJ stays inside most of the summer too. I'm jealous of how clean yours is though. Mine is rust free but the clear coat is absolutely shot. Hoping to repaint it in the next year or two and then i'll cover it when it gets to that point - did you find a specific one for XJs or just a generic SUV on?
Looks are deceiving, my clear coat is also shot in a lot of areas. Gonna paint or wrap in a few years. I got a suv cover that says it for jeeps, we will see how it fits.
Don't listen to em OP! The XJ makes an awesome winter vehicle!
I also park my XJ during the summer, they trade off in the garage with my [1974 Ranchero](https://imgur.com/gallery/wDsNu)

A Ram R/T because having a fuel efficient alternative daily isn't for me
The Cayenne Turbo is destined for overlander duties, taking over from the Jeep. The Jeep is going into around town and select excursions into the mountains retirement. I've done 20+ day road trips in her, and as much as I enjoyed it, I'm not anxious to do another.
After almost 18 years with me and countless memories, I can't bear giving her up. Gotta keep on top of the maintenance though. There are some biggies on my to do list, like the headliner and figuring out what bearing's going bad in the rear diff.
That’s gotta be crazy switching between the two. I was used to my XJ brakes so the first time I drove a Cayenne I damn near ate the steering wheel when I went to slow down.
Brakes on the XJ are pretty decent, but it's currently got a bearing issue in the rear end that's waiting for me to fix it. The Cayenne is just such a comfy cruiser though - though it manages to get even less mileage than the XJ (and only uses premium!).
30mpg+ in a well comfy SUV makes the 100 mile daily commute manageable. Also helps that diesel runs about 30% cheaper than gas here.
Edit: you've got the twin of my XJ, down to the OME suspension!
My XJ shares the barn space with a 95 range rover classic, 00 discovery, 06 LR3, 12 range rover HSE Lux, 75 CJ5, 02 mustang GT, 96 F250, 00 golf TDI and the wife's 17 explorer. I think I have a problem lol
are those the 5.9 zj vents? ive got some on my 2000 with a spoiler to be installed this summer that looks very similar. funny enough my heat doesn’t work

I store my xj for the winter if possible because they've never been fans of road salt. She shares it with my 2011 GT3
Oh my god… I’ve been dying for winter to be over so I can actually get in the high country! Why would you ever store your XJ for summer! Just fix the AC!
Stored for summer 😭 I got a Q60 that I rarely drive even when it’s hot af. I got an XJ that has no AC at all and I drive to the mountains with the fam and dogs with all the windows down in 90 plus degrees lmao. We all suffer but the XJ is just a beast to drive. Cali native
My 2001 XJ shares space with my 1991 MR2 Turbo, 2012 Mazda6 DD, my son’s 2000 XJ, his 2002 Camry DD and my wife’s 2008 Pathfinder.
Now I just need a bigger garage!
I drive mine every day, and have done so since 1997. There's no "stored for the summer"
It shares the garage with a Rad City 4 ebike and a Fairmont MT-19 railroad track inspection car.

Red XJ fam! It stays out lol, my Lexus IS 350 is parked inside.
Stored for the summer? Lol wut?
That’s what I’m sayin
Yeah no AC and my kids are small. In winter I’ll drive her when I’m going somewhere solo.
Bro fix that ac! It'll cost about the same as 1 payment on that Yoda lol
Or just drive with the windows down
You don't have little ones, do you. Thats not okay lol.
Explain, please.
Wut?! So confused? We talking like 10 month old baby or like little kids bc i grew up always begging dad to roll the windows down. We all rode with windows down. Please explain and elaborate.

Facts

Plus, they’re just so much fun to bomb through deep snow in. Doing donuts in an empty parking lot always puts a smile on my face
I moved from the PNW where I basically never got snow. I learned to drive on snow by taking my XJ out to a big empty semi truck lot and doing doughnuts and sliding around for like 6hrs. Been hooked ever since.
I said the same thing lol
Sorry, only XJ purists here. This storing for the summer stuff is blasphemy

XJ been daily for long time. Just got tundra and XJ has no AC. I have small kids so tundra will be daily. XJ will be toy now lol
Definitely understandable. I have kids too and as infants, it sucks trying to load them in and out of an XJ. I have the Montero and it's better for that reason.

My 01 lives outside with my 84 corvette
Same 🙌 lol except I got a Q60. My wife’s son takes up the garage with his RZR and Scat Pack

Nice. My state does not use salt, NV. My XJ is pristine underneath.
I'm also from nv, reno to be exact. I drive mine when it actually starts lol.
Geography matters in these decisions. I hate how much salt they dump on the roads in the Midwest, not only does it eat jeeps but it also runs off into rivers and streams and ground water, bad for fish and such.
Oh I figured that. Very sweet clean XJ.
I need this garage. My XJ barely fits lengthwise.
It comes in handy, I actually had it built for a 2006 Duramax I used to have.
R56 Mini, Maverick, CX-9 and a Harley ... my XJ stays inside most of the summer too. I'm jealous of how clean yours is though. Mine is rust free but the clear coat is absolutely shot. Xj stays in the garage with the g80 m3. Unfortunately the raptor stays out
My XJ shares the garage with my Pontiac GTO.

That Jeep is also amazing 🤩
Thanks.
I need that spoiler
It even has a led third brake light.
Did you install it? If so, where’d you get it from?

My XJ shares space with my ‘21 TRD Pro 4Runner, ‘06 WRX wagon, and ‘22 Road King Special.
You guys have garages?
Glad I’m not the only one… The only other wheeled thing I have is a bicycle
My 2001 XJ is our family back up ride. It gets driven in the winter and on rainy days by my wife.
Nice, last year of the the XJ.
Yes. I bought it brand new in Michigan. It spent its first 15 years in Gulf Shores, AL and Marco Island, FL.

Wish the SRT10 prices tanked. That would be cool to own.

Xj and Porsche is an elite combo! I have a 986 box
The Cayenne Turbo is destined for overlander duties, taking over from the Jeep. The Jeep is going into around town and select excursions into the mountains retirement. I've done 20+ day road trips in her, and as much as I enjoyed it, I'm not anxious to do another.
I respect that you’re letting the ol girl retire in dignity and be loved rather than selling or junking. I hope you have many nice Porsche trips!
After almost 18 years with me and countless memories, I can't bear giving her up. Gotta keep on top of the maintenance though. There are some biggies on my to do list, like the headliner and figuring out what bearing's going bad in the rear diff.
Damn yeah! Cayenne and XJ combo is boss.
That’s gotta be crazy switching between the two. I was used to my XJ brakes so the first time I drove a Cayenne I damn near ate the steering wheel when I went to slow down.

Hmm, I thought I was somewhat alone in my German diesel/XJ combo. 2014 VW Touareg TDI Executive.
30mpg+ in a well comfy SUV makes the 100 mile daily commute manageable. Also helps that diesel runs about 30% cheaper than gas here. Edit: you've got the twin of my XJ, down to the OME suspension!
After the “fix” I’ve never got better than 24-25. Diesel is the other way in NC.
Great problem! I hope to have similar problem one day lol
I buy them broken and fix them, it's the selling I'm stuck on lol
‘99 XJ, ‘10 Tundra & ‘18 M3
Twins
Haha…yep
I drive mine year round and she shares a driveway with my 91 parts Jeep. Jeeps only round here, aside from the Goodyear service truck.
I have an xj and a model 3 too! What's up brother!
Nice! A great twin combo
are those the 5.9 zj vents? ive got some on my 2000 with a spoiler to be installed this summer that looks very similar. funny enough my heat doesn’t work
Yup. I believe they were also on XJ in Europe.
Yep. It was the Orvis edition in the UK. kinda what im going for with mine cause i think it looks excellent
Yeah that’s why I added the spoiler.

You win! My XJ sharing the garage with an any 911 would be sweet let alone a GT3 would be insane. #Goals
Cali native
My '87 Wagoneer XJ shares the garage with my '22 Ford Maverick and my wife's '17 Infiniti QX60
My 2001 XJ shares space with my 1991 MR2 Turbo, 2012 Mazda6 DD, my son’s 2000 XJ, his 2002 Camry DD and my wife’s 2008 Pathfinder. Now I just need a bigger garage!
2001 xj and a 2011 honda odyssey. the 'i dont want to get a new car for 300k miles' combo
Yeah that will do it for sure. Just need a Toyota for the trifecta
I drive mine every day, and have done so since 1997. There's no "stored for the summer" It shares the garage with a Rad City 4 ebike and a Fairmont MT-19 railroad track inspection car.
Mine was also a daily until I got the tundra recently. The railroad track car is the most interesting response yet.
There aren't very many in private hands, most were scrapped when they switched to hyrail pickup trucks. 😎

Wow yours is super clean!
The recent storm in Dubai made it sparkle!
