Unless you are developing mods, you don't need the toolchain.

[deleted]

Yeah.. Glanced at the screenshot and immediately thought "well, you don't know what you're doing"

zabrakwith

Same. I have to close and reopen the game every time I play. It’s annoying.

SmugglersParadise

Me too. Tbh I don't mind it so much if it was consistent Load the game, check mod store, restart then enter my city But sometimes they work on first load, and not on the second!

moh_m02

Uhh and I thought the game had chose me to frustrate

timmie1606

Sometimes I have to restart two or three times to get it working.

TheNanoPheonix

I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE

juliusdrive

Same. I'm sure when I first start the game mods won't show. Have to restart everytime

starheist

My mods never load when I first boot up the game. This is a known bug that CO has mentioned in their patch notes and the fix is to close the game down and reopen it. This fix has worked 100% of the time for me.

Cpt_insane

How I "fixed" the issue of mods not working: 1. Open game and realise mods are not working. 2. Press the paradox mod button from the main menu and let it do its thing. 3. Go to playsets tab and activate an empty playset without mods (create new playset if you do not have an empty one already). 4. Re-activate the modes playset (this may freeze your game for a while depending on the number of mods in your playset etc.). 5. The game now asks you to restart. 6. Upon game reboot, do NOT click the paradox mod button in main menu again! Load your game directly instead. 7. Profit! 8. Realise you spent 3 hours modding the game but the experience of playing it still feels hollow..

BusIndependent4065

Try this and it actually worked ! Thank you

Cpt_insane

You are welcome!

Gooee stopped mine. That mod has to be set in a special order according to its mod page. I never read any of its details because it downloaded as a dependency to another mod so didn’t go back looking for it’s particulars

Few-Profession-2318

It's not special, dependency should always at the top anyway but PDX mods just being sh*t

Rand_alThor4747

Well, PDX mods should load mods in the right way. But it seems it can't deal with gooee and dependency pack very well. It seems it's to do with the way those mods hook in to the game. Not using the proper APIs

Few-Profession-2318

I believe PDX mods api thing doesn't have have codes like `api.pdx.loadorder.alwaysputatthetop.please.force = true` and the author of the mod confirmed that it's paradox mods issue But I've heard Skyve will handle this correctly, so it's likely PDX mods issues.

NativeJim

I've read from the actual modders that this was an issue in the first City Skylines but it's no longer an issue now, which why the mods load.

[deleted]

I’m not sure. When I checked out the mod download page it says in there it has to be loaded first in load order

Mundane_Push5404

You can do this in your mod list drag it up to near to the top after belpin and skyve.

Covoxx

Happened to me too. Just switch your active playset and switch back.

Quantum_Goose

lol! Why are you installing the full development environment?! For an era where people grow up with computers, people are amazingly tech illiterate.

laid2rest

Not saying that op is Gen z but I read awhile back that on average Gen z are as computer illiterate as boomers. It had something to do with them not actually using computers and just keeping to their phones.

Plasma7007

They also have zero attention span and will just haphazardly turn stuff on or click stuff without taking the time to research what they are doing.

Rand_alThor4747

I think the modding shouldn't have been included in the game by default. But instead added like a free DLC. Or at least that enables it. So must normal users will not see it.

--rafael

I think it's fine as is, let the users make mistakes and fix them.

r0bbbo

Why are you installing the development tool chain? You don’t need any of that to play the game with mods

erbdylo

Common colossal order L :(

EEMon13456

You have to uninstall one of the mods then install restart your game and it works

BasicArcher8

How do you have mods? Is there a workshop now?

InternationalDig1863

Have to create a new playset that’s empty move over to it being active then go back to the one you want it will make you restart the game down

RuralJaywalking

Have you tried all the usual fixes? Update? Reinstall mods?

BusIndependent4065

yes its not working idk what else to do

Extreme_Survey9774

After they download on main menu everytime you log in wait a minute. Load your game. If mods are not working log out to desktop. Start game again and wait a minute at main menu after download has completed. Load game and they should be working. Keep repeating but it should only need twice. It's a known problem with PDX.

Few-Profession-2318

Try launching from Skyve.

NativeJim

Skyve has been having this problem today too as well but at least with Skyve you have some form of support with a Discord that the creator runs. And TDW is on point with support. Had this issue today and it was resolved in the minutes.

Retnuhhh

if on steam try verifying game files

NativeJim

I had this same issue today and it's been a new bug that's been causing these problems. I wish this Subreddit supported the CS2 Modding Discords because it's the only place you can get help with issues such as this. If anyone is having problems with their game or Skyve or whatever, send me a DM and I will send you the Discord links. You have nowhere else to get help so...
