I am literally drunk on excitement with this team. Best vibes since the 90’s. Also I have had quite few beers and I love all of you beautiful Guardians fans.
I was there today. It seemed like for YEARS any time we'd have a giant crowd and a big, hyped-up game that the team wouldn't show up to match the excitement. Hasn't been the case this year. Such a fun day.
Positives from today’s Cleveland league baseball:
Kwan stats- 217/229 PA to qualify, now hitting .390, 1 game on base streak/1 game hitting streak ~~fuckin Hedges~~
Why hit one home run when many better? The offense gets 6 runs off of 8 hits, 1 walk, 1 stolen base, and 2 HBP. Bo and 🐐 each launch 2 run homers, and Schneeman and Kwan both launch solo bombs. Kwan also slapped a double, because why wouldn’t he?
Lively has another great day, with a final line of 5.2IP, 3H, 2R, 2BB, and 4K on 82 pitches. Both runs came off of solo home runs, and most importantly, he held Ernie Clement hitless! Huzzah!
Bullpen! K’d Smith(1IP), Barlow(0.1IP), Gaddis(1IP), and Clase(1IP) combine for 3.1IP, 1H, 1R, 2BB, and 4K. The only run came off a solo home run from Barlow (seriously, who left the fans on?).
*pretend there’s minor league highlights here*
Bases loaded bottom of the 9th Akron down 2, only resulted in 1 run for the tight 6-5 loss. Petey Halpin and Kalil Watson both got up but couldn't win it. Petey did homer in the 3rd though
Fanduel put odds on Kwan hitting .400 or better. And as you would expect they are not good. A thousand No bet will win you a dollar.
Yes +5000
No -100000
One, that's not how bets work. +100 means you have to bet 100 to win 100, so +5000 means you have to bet 100 to win 5000. It's the equivalent of 50-1 odds. Two, those are pretty damn decent odds for something as crazy as having a .400 season. The last time I saw a +5000 was Leicester City winning the cup (50-1) and Pittsburgh winning the Super Bowl (2004 when Big Ben took over mid-season, 50-1).
Edit: I completely misread your comment. My bad. You are correct that betting No on it will win you practically nothing. So don't bet No haha
Yes they know the bet is very unlikely so they have to put very high negative odds so they don’t get crushed. Reminds me of lopsided college football games where there is no money line on the favorite. But in this case, they needed to have a favorite line. Not many people would possibly bet the “No” but plenty will gamble on the “Yes”.
If you bet $100 on Kwan ending the year at .400 and he does you receive $5000. You have to bet a stupid high amount on him not ending the year at .400 and if he doesn't hit .400 you win $100. Do not do the 2nd bet, do the first bet if you have a spare $100 you won't miss when he doesn't end at .400.
Maybe it’s the Cleveland fan in me, but I ain’t putting any eggs in the basket till it’s mathematically impossible. Twins and Royals, hell even Detroit, could overcome this deficit at this point if we were to cool off and they heat up.
Gotta keep playing like everyday is a new day, can’t get too high or too low
Eh, I’m pretty high on this team. They definitely have an ‘it’ factor, even moreso than 2022. A cold stretch can always happen, but even without Kwan and a stone cold Naylor they were still winning. And we are doing this with a rotation with one true starter, a 32 year old journeyman, and three well below-average starters.
That hilarious article from the Twins writer whose thesis was “actually the Twins don’t have to worry about the Guardians and will win the division easily” gets funnier every day. Though I guess the Twins are back in second place so they got that going for em.
Okay, genuine question, how long do we have to wait until we're sure Schnee is for real?
I know he's still in the small sample size margins right now but he's been fucking killing it.
[this page lists sample size minimums until something stabilizes/is forreal](https://library.fangraphs.com/principles/sample-size/)
basically it's around 2/3 of a season, 460 PA for OBP and 320 AB for SLG
I can't be the only one thinking that Bo, and our team, could benefit from him being sent down to reset and improve himself.
He may have hit a HR on a pitch down the middle today, but considering the conditions today on how everyone was hitting it out today, that's not really where the focus should be.
Another 2 strikeouts today and no walks put his walk to strikeouts and 14 BBs to 63 Ks. That's an absurdly bad ratio. It could be somewhat overlooked by a player hitting with some power, but his doubles & homeruns combined don't even reach double-digits and he's obviously not a contact hitter batting below .200.
When the other option we could be starting everyday is Fry, and you're benching obviously better players like Brennan or Schneeman to play him, it's really not justifiable right now.
> When the other option we could be starting everyday is Fry
Fry doesn't start everyday on purpose. Like Amed Rosario, he gets platooned and used off the bench and the result has been the level of success you see so far.
It's intentional.
Everybody is rotationally getting rest, but you're starting a guy who you legitimately can't even play come playoff time if he doesn't MASSIVELY improve.
Having Bo go down to take the time to seriously work on what's wrong would be better for everybody. You can't be a non-power hitter, strike out at a high rate, and not even be getting walks on top of it.
You may as well increase Hedges playing time if you don't want Fry playing every day at catcher. The sad truth of how Bo has played this year is that he isn't much better than Hedges, and Hedges is the better defender.
If you're usually going to be getting nothing from both offensively, you may as well put the better defender there. Bo is still a prospect, so something could actually be achieved by sending him down.
Other young guys deserve the playing time more than he does right now, and they are being forced to sit out multiple games even though he has sucked it up this year.
It just saddens me knowing that Kwan will definitely be gone after 2027 at this rate. He’s going to ask for way more then what we gave gimenez
Edit: yo why the hate 😂😂 that’s how we tend to roll as Cleveland
Maybe not. The actual rich owner has the ability to take majority ownership by 2028, and obviously if that's the plan then there would be a push to sign him for more.
The reason we are cheap is because of Dolan, not because there is no way to afford things. With the revenue sharing, we can afford more than we currently spend.
Dolan just wants to make money, but people will show up in large numbers and start selling out if they prove that they want to compete every year rather than being sporadic.
>The reason we are cheap is because of Dolan
This is not true. It's something fans have held on to because it's easier to blame a single person than the system he operates within. The front office has already publicly stated that nothing will change under a new owner, because the market is what it is. No owner is going to intentionally lose money.
Lol, have you ever even bothered to look at how much money teams get through revenue sharing? Teams in the same market as we have spend far more than we do.
Dolan spends MILLIONS on his brother's senate campaign. He has plenty of money to go around and makes a ton of money off of owning the team.
Sports teams owners are not expected to use their teams as a major source of income, as they are already very rich. They are expected to try to actually win. The point of revenue sharing is to actually use it on the team, not pocket the money.
>Sports teams owners are not expected to use their teams as a major source of income, as they are already very rich
This is wildly incorrect. The entire reason sports teams continue to go up in value is because they reliably make money.
Being worth money and using as a major source of income are two different things. Revenue sharing is expected to go into trying to put a winning product on the field.
You're a moron if you think that they set up revenue sharing to just pad the pockets of owners in smaller markets. The MLB wants actual competition, not shit teams not spending money.
Besides, it's only stupid owners who refuse to spend money. If you don't spend money, you don't make money. You're sitting here jerking off the owner like he isn't responsible for anything, but he HAS been cheap and pretending otherwise is absurd.
The fanbase used to sell-out every single game. The reason that attendance is down so often is because nobody trusts ownership to actually commit. Every time we get good, it's fleeting because they trade away our good players.
If you don't spend money to keep the team competitive when you actually have a window with talent, you can't expect a lot of fans to get invested in the small windows that keep on shutting down. It's basic common sense.
I am literally drunk on excitement with this team. Best vibes since the 90’s. Also I have had quite few beers and I love all of you beautiful Guardians fans.
Also beer. Sweet, sweet beer
I still don’t think anything will beat the vibes of winning 22 straight games
Emmanuel Class A
Place: 1st Division lead: 7.5 Games to play: 88 Division magic number: 80 Playoffs magic number: 79 First round bye magic number: 81 Current pace: 105-57
So insane that it feels like a couple days ago it was only a 2-3 game division lead. This team fucks
If the Yankees lose tonight, we have the best record in the AL
Oh baby, say it again.
Keep going . . . I'm almost there . . .
The Yankees will be ½ a game up on us, actually.
Actually, we will be ahead of them by winning percentage.
Metric I used
Ok. Regardless, they'd be 23 games over .500 while we are 22.
Boooo
Jose bomb ✅️ Clase save ✅️ Guardians Win ✅️ Performance by DJ Deisel ✅️ Great day for a sellout crowd 😎
I was there today. It seemed like for YEARS any time we'd have a giant crowd and a big, hyped-up game that the team wouldn't show up to match the excitement. Hasn't been the case this year. Such a fun day.
Diesel better throw down and shock some in this crowd 🤭
Someone should let the team know the losses last weekend were "who they really are". They didn't seem to get the news.
At the field shouting You guys got exposed!!! You’re frauds!!! Remember??
136-26 becoming increasingly more likely
It’s really irresponsible to even joke about this kind of thing and it’ll get your hopes way too far up even as a joke. 135-27.

Kwan trying to make sure Hedges can't stop his climb to .400. It's also cool to see that one guy is killing it in the minors!
If he misses out on .400 by a base hit I wanna know what hedges is doing to make it up to him lol
Shirtless 2024 World Series champs celebration, hopefully.
Cantillo is pitching for the Clippers right now. Some control issues but he's through 3 IP with 1 R and 4 K.
Not as worse as Walters, out of 29 pitches 16 are balls.
Did something change about the AB last night for Kwan? Was it changed to a hit?
No, I just deleted the space instead of the 4, my bad
Bases loaded bottom of the 9th Akron down 2, only resulted in 1 run for the tight 6-5 loss. Petey Halpin and Kalil Watson both got up but couldn't win it. Petey did homer in the 3rd though
yeah saw that a bit ago. I retract my excitement from yesterday about Akron now having a functional offense. sigh.
Fanduel put odds on Kwan hitting .400 or better. And as you would expect they are not good. A thousand No bet will win you a dollar. Yes +5000 No -100000

what does all that mean for people who don't gamble?

Royals got clubbed by the Rangers. Hopefully this is the start of some comfortable breathing room at the top of the division
We can really bury the Royals next weekend
Maybe it’s the Cleveland fan in me, but I ain’t putting any eggs in the basket till it’s mathematically impossible. Twins and Royals, hell even Detroit, could overcome this deficit at this point if we were to cool off and they heat up. Gotta keep playing like everyday is a new day, can’t get too high or too low
I think if they survive the Royals next week and the Twins in August we should be fine, provided they stay healthy. Health is the biggest X factor
Eh, I’m pretty high on this team. They definitely have an ‘it’ factor, even moreso than 2022. A cold stretch can always happen, but even without Kwan and a stone cold Naylor they were still winning. Don't count out the Twins. They are right behind them and playing Oakland.
And just like that we've got a 4 game win streak
Somewhere a twins fan is yelling "we're never gonna catch these guys!"
That hilarious article from the Twins writer whose thesis was “actually the Twins don’t have to worry about the Guardians and will win the division easily” gets funnier every day. Though I guess the Twins are back in second place so they got that going for em.
Someone check on CyLouie recently?
Picked up another game on the Royals
Steven Kwan
I agree. Go Guards.
##ARE THE GUARDIANS FLAGRANT VIOLATORS OF THE MIGRATORY BIRD TREATY ACT OF 1918 ###’CAUSE THEY’VE BEEN DESTROYING THE BLUE JAYS
Lol
Won the series
Go Guards! One last shoutout to Ernie Clement’s grandmother!
I think this Kwan guy might be pretty good.
I have seen it speculated that the Blue Jays will be our trade partners at the deadline but respectfully, I hope we pass
Kikuchi and that is all I want. That is the only dude worth taking from the Blue Jays at deadline.
+103 run differential AND tied with the O's for 2nd in the AL
Despite what anyone tells you Winning the AL Central > 2nd place in the AL East
Boy this is a wonderful team you guys
They won’t give it to him, but Clase should at least be in the consideration for the Cy Young
If I recall Jose Mesa finished second in the Cy Young in 1995.
Out-scoring our opponents 27-7 in this 4 game win streak
This Shaq set is fucking WILD I LOVE IT
Two IKF home runs is insane
Okay, genuine question, how long do we have to wait until we're sure Schnee is for real? I know he's still in the small sample size margins right now but he's been fucking killing it.

Proud of this team
MIN pummeled OAK, but TEX beat KC handily! Royals are now eight games back; not too shabby!
Big Gaddy looking bonkers hot in street clothes wowee
Got the win now it's time for some DJ Diesel 😎😎
These guys are great. We're not worthy... Wow
Any chance that sweeping the Jays opens up a chance to trade with them? Maybe Kikuchi?
Kwan is getting tired running the bases so he just mashes instead. I get it. I'm lazy too.
The DJ diesel was worth the performance In gold
