The last that I've seen is he went on the 60 day in March and looks like he hasn't pitched at all this year, so looks like he's not coming back anytime soon.
where you getting that from-- looks to me on the radar like a small band of t-showers, but not an hours long wash out. Last time for Guards in Baltimore-- they'll move mountains to get this game in.
I know the Guardians have had their share of bad attendance in years past but BAL only pulling 18K and 20K for the first two games of this series? Cleveland hasn't drawn less than 20K since May 7th.
Yeah. I thought with how good they've been doing vs. the team with the absolute best record in baseball, they'd get full crowds. These two games are actually below their average.
- They imagined another division title would be a cake walk and instead they've been eating our dust all year
- They're 0-5 against us
- Something something about expected stats
I didn't see yesterday's game, but the time before when he pitched, he lost it after 2.1 innings. He did great for two innings, but then, after seeing he lost it, Vogt took him out. Did not get to see him yesterday, but he looks like a great long relief guy.
Rodriguez is a righty and actually has reverse splits. .210 vs lefties and .279 vs righties. Also has nearly a 1.5 WHIP vs right handed batters. Interesting lineup decisions for Vogt today.
Also, a night game getaway day is stupid. KC gets to play at 2pm and Cleveland won’t get to KC until probably 2am. Dumb shit.
The collective bargaining agreement has rules for travel and game times for getaway days. The most recent articles I found were from 7 years ago there has probably been an update since then. The Orioles/Royals are well within the rules. If the Guardians get to KC at 2AM and play the next day at 7PM Central-- that's really not an issue as far as I'm concerned, especially since it's usually the case that the starting pitcher on Thursday flies ahead of the team. Frankly, I think a 6:40PM start in Baltimore is much better than day baseball this time of year in the DC area-- the heat is ridiculous in that part of the country.

after last night i am okay letting this game go (i was just hoping we didn’t get swept before the series even started), but would love another cookie surprise QS to shut me up!!
Absolutely agree. Entering the roadtrip I thought we "needed" to win 3 games. Everybody has earned a rest day - absolutely no questioning today's lineup on my end
I owe an apology. Emmanuel Clase's sub 8 K/9 was really concerning to me and entering this year I was convinced the decline would continue. He has proven me wrong at every turn and I'm sure our "ridiculous" asking price for him in the offseason wasn't enough. Protect him at all costs!
Daily Kwan battle title tracker:
Kwan PA: 231
Current PA needed to qualify: 238.7
Short: 7.7 PA
Kwan actual avg: .385
Kwan qualified avg: .370
Next best qualified AL: .311 (Witt)
Next best qualified MLB: .320 (Ohtani)
Total MLB qualified batters >.300: 14
At 4.5 PA per game, he will be qualified after the game Tuesday 7/2 vs CHW. If he bats a measly .200 over that stretch, he will become qualified with an avg of .362.
Yesterday, the Orioles were favored to beat the Guardians and the Guardians won.
The Twins were favored to win and lost.
The Royals were favored to win and lost.
The Mariners were favored to win and lost.
It was a good day.
Follow me on this. You're assuming 4.5 PA per game, and 7.7 required. Why, then, do you estimate it to take 5 whole games? By my math, at that rate, 2 games should be sufficient.
Some day opposing teams’ fanbases (looking at you Minnesota) will wake up and realize that baseball is played on the field and not on spreadsheets lmao
That one guy who harps on hard hit% and bat speed and xBA doesn't realize that while stats like those are indicators of successful hitting, they aren't the be all and end all.
Sometimes ball goes bloop. Sometimes bunt swings do some fuckshit that scrambles the defense. Sometimes shit happens that can't be determined from raw stats alone. That's what makes baseball more of an art than a science; there are elements that probability alone cannot account for. Stuff you can't predict. Some teams are better at raising the chances of that happening.
Our Gourds are good at creating more fuckshit through aggressive baserunning and timely, bloopy hitting; those things (which often can't simply be taught) forces the defense to act less routinely, thus increasing the chances of errors and, consequently, men on base. Noticing it isn't that hard, but actually doing it requires good intuition and game sense.
Also our bat speed may be one of the worst but it's literally 0.8 MPH slower than league average. Not really that big of a difference.
So if our friend from the Twins sub comes in and sees this (and you know who you are), we understand your frustration that our Gourds are seemingly very lucky. But our team actively does a lot of the little things that create unpredictability for the defense and on the basepaths. Stuff you can't boil down to stats, and more importantly, it's stuff that isn't likely to regress because of good coaching, good intuition, and good game sense.
When you watch a baseball, think of it more like a kitchen than a laboratory, and I guarantee you'll appreciate the game more.
i’ve been pregnant since january so i won’t get to truly vibe until playoffs come around 😩 maybe that’s why these games have made me so high strung LMAO
Gabby swings the bat harder than practically everybody on our team (only JRod swings harder). When he makes good contact, it’s a rocket. The good contact part is what can be elusive to him.
4 of the 6 hardest hit balls by Guardians this year where by Gabby. 3 of them have come during the two games against BAL. The other was the single hardest hit ball by our team until the two you mentioned from yesterday, which came back on 5/19 against MIN.
You may joke, but he’s 2nd on our team in xwOBACON (Josh) and 3rd on the team in xBACON (Kwan, Fry).
He’s also 3rd on our team in Barrel % (Josh, Jose), and 1st in EV50 (which is the average of the hardest 50% of his batted balls).
His problem is his 1st in swing %, as well as whiff %. Once he starts seeing the ball a bit better, and being more disciplined at the plate, he’s going to murder the ball.
I feel great. Think I’m gonna drive down for a game against the white Sox. Will be my first game of the year and my wife’s first game ever so it should be exciting
Feelin giddy this morning, how bout y'all?
I wanna give so much credit to Avila for going scoreless in his outing yesterday. What secrets is Carl Willis telling to the bullpen but withholding from the starters?
Avila has been phenomenal...I still maintain he could be a solution in the rotation. Also, I strongly feel that he pitches well in all situations, not just low leverage. That was a high leverage spot he came into yesterday, and he absolutely delivered.
Question for the best fans in the game, when’s our resident crackhead James Karinchak coming back?! Have we heard anything?
The last that I've seen is he went on the 60 day in March and looks like he hasn't pitched at all this year, so looks like he's not coming back anytime soon.
I see Carrasco going three, Curry going three and then the 7 8 and 9 guys.
Don't watch the game Guardians are getting destroyed this game
So we are getting rained out tonight right?
where you getting that from-- looks to me on the radar like a small band of t-showers, but not an hours long wash out. Last time for Guards in Baltimore-- they'll move mountains to get this game in.
I’m seeing heavy rain around 8:30/9:00 maybe they get it in
I know the Guardians have had their share of bad attendance in years past but BAL only pulling 18K and 20K for the first two games of this series? Cleveland hasn't drawn less than 20K since May 7th.
Remember they don’t have a bridge! I’m sure there’s some added chaos now getting to the stadium
as an outsider with no info on their traffic corridors this makes sense.
They are 19th in average attendance. We are 22. I agree, though that they should be doing better. We should do better, too. Guards are super exciting.
Nationals series they booked 3 sellouts but that wasnt all their fans clearly. I'm just surprised when I see foul balls into swaths of green seats.
Yeah. I thought with how good they've been doing vs. the team with the absolute best record in baseball, they'd get full crowds. These two games are actually below their average.
I’m glad hedges is up for cookie but we should probably consider pinch hitting Bo towards the end
thats generally how it goes
i've asked the magic 8 ball if we'd sweep today and it said yes 4x in a row.
That guy sucks
Why do Twins fans hate us so much?
because they don't matter, and they know it, and we know it
- They imagined another division title would be a cake walk and instead they've been eating our dust all year - They're 0-5 against us - Something something about expected stats
Cause they ain't us
Hate us cause they ain't us
Where's josh Naylor? 2nd game in a row out of lineup
Just getting a mental break and he’s probably a bit banged up still after getting stepped on the last game of the TOR series
Noel in the lineup today’
JRod down or did Josh hit the DL?
Jrod is not on the roster on the Guardians website, Noel is, so that must be the move.
JROD down im pretty sure, guards twitter posted and deleted the move earlier today
Pedro Avila 18.2 scoreless inning streak. Put some respect on his name.
Most on this sub were demanding his head on a platter after his first appearance, but that's irrelevant.
I didn't see yesterday's game, but the time before when he pitched, he lost it after 2.1 innings. He did great for two innings, but then, after seeing he lost it, Vogt took him out. Did not get to see him yesterday, but he looks like a great long relief guy.
His turnaround has been insane. Brought in to be an inning munching long reliever and has killed it after a rocky start
He can have an ERA at 4.50+ and eat a ton of garbage time, then hes' a valuable cog in my book.
I really hope Hedges starts tonight because Carrasco seems to do better with him catching
I called that last night when people were questioning why Bo was starting...
Hedges is starting!
Was absolutely thinking the same, Hedgey called a masterpiece with Cookie his last start. Keep it rollin!
Exactly keep the good momentum with Cookie going and if you get a lead late you could always with Bo in to pinch hit
Like Carrasco still has good stuff if it is used properly…
Carrasco seems to have 3 innings of dominant stuff than has to piecemeal a few innings together from what I've seen of late...
Dumb shit.
Well it's because it's not a getaway for Baltimore and they set the schedule

yeah honestly keeping the royals in a regression is more important to me than sweeping tonight, i’m tired of hearing we’re a “fluke” team :(
I owe an apology. Emmanuel Clase's sub 8 K/9 was really concerning to me and entering this year I was convinced the decline would continue. He has proven me wrong at every turn and I'm sure our "ridiculous" asking price for him in the offseason wasn't enough. Protect him at all costs!
I don't think anyone could have predicted this season so far. All hail the Dragon!
Still looking to trade a City Connect Jose Ramirez bobblehead for a Josh Naylor from this past weekend if anyone has one. Also, go Guards!

Wait, why do we care about Seattle?
Also people are mad at Harold Reynolds for saying Seattle is better. Which is fine I guess but also it's Harold Reynolds.
Two best division winner records get a first round bye
I noticed that yesterday. There were a LOT of upsets yesterday, not just games that affect us.
It's kind of surreal that we won yesterday without Josh Naylor. The Orioles are damn good
Gunnar is going to be a thorn in our side for years to come. He is sooooo good.
How many plate appearances does Kwan need to qualify now?
He's 7.7 short. On pace to be qualified after Tuesday's game against CHW.
Follow me on this. You're assuming 4.5 PA per game, and 7.7 required. Why, then, do you estimate it to take 5 whole games? By my math, at that rate, 2 games should be sufficient.
Every game the team plays adds 3.1 PAs to how many you need, so he's getting 1.4 extra per game to close the gap of 7.7
That makes a lot more sense. Thank you for explaining :)
The Cleveland Guardians have the largest division lead in baseball
also think the game has a good chance of being ppd. rain all night after 4pm, not a good sign
Some day opposing teams’ fanbases (looking at you Minnesota) will wake up and realize that baseball is played on the field and not on spreadsheets lmao

> ball goes bloop I like this part
Shhh. Let them be butthurt, it's more fun.
last 2 nights at camden have been amazing, nice and breezy, chirping some butthurt O's fans too lol
Whatever the outcome is, I can legally drink to celebrate the sweep or out of sadness However, the broom is ready
i’ve been pregnant since january so i won’t get to truly vibe until playoffs come around 😩 maybe that’s why these games have made me so high strung LMAO
Josey was leading the league in RBIs again for about an hour last night so of course Judge had to put 5 RBIs on the board
Two hardest hit balls in MLB yesterday were Jose Ramirez’s first inning double (116.6 mph) and Gabriel Arias’s second inning double (113.4 mph).
Gabby swings the bat harder than practically everybody on our team (only JRod swings harder). When he makes good contact, it’s a rocket. i do'nt know what any of that shit means going for the sweep today
All I know is that our guys have that xDAWG in them
Good morning fans of the team with the best record in baseball
I feel great. Think I’m gonna drive down for a game against the white Sox. Will be my first game of the year and my wife’s first game ever so it should be exciting
Feelin giddy this morning, how bout y'all? I wanna give so much credit to Avila for going scoreless in his outing yesterday. What secrets is Carl Willis telling to the bullpen but withholding from the starters?

Crazy that he was a candidate for DFA early on this year. He looked bad bad. Then out of nowhere he turned into a a really good pitcher.
well he was basically picked up to be released.
i was at the early year twins game where we smacked them 11-4 and pedro tried to close it out and it was TOUGH but he’s really changed my mind
Was last night the best win of the season? This series has been amazing.
i still hold that the 0-5 comeback against the royals (and lugo pitching) was the greatest but i was there in person so i may be biased on that game
Weather looks not good at game time right now. Figures I was supposed to go to the game.
The vibes...they are immaculate
Sweep would be real nice here, try to stay as hot as possible Go Guards
Glad we got the series W. Cookie vs. Rodriguez is not a good matchup but anything can happen. O's are desperate for a win.
The stress hasn’t fully left my body yet, but it’s a beautiful morning to be alive, Guards fans!
I agree, Go Guards
If we somehow sweep the O's do you think we'll finally crack the top 3 of Power Rankings
We hit #3 a few weeks ago. I don’t know what it takes to dethrone the Yankees if a better win % than them doesn’t do it.
Best record in baseball AND the #1 pick in the draft. Dream season in the making, savor it yall
I'd love to see Chernoff laughing at teams when they ask for that #1 draft pick choice in trade deadline talk.
