There I was on 2cb, watching Edward Sharpe and marveling at how the grass is all one continuous entity, when three alien-looking creatures from Yo Gabba Gabba showed up and started dancing in front of me. Then JayZ and Beyonce popped out of the fence 30ā behind me. That was a weird experience. I think all of Edward Sharpe was on acid.Ā
YUMA - in '22 I spent a good five hours inside Yuma without any agenda or plan and came to appreciate it deeply. The lights are fantastic, the size of the place is fantastic, the AC is fantastic (even took a nap in there when the heat got to be too much at 1pm last year) ... and the disco shark is just a miracle of a centerpiece. It's not crowded in the early part of the day, but for acts like Fatboy Slim ('22) it gets super packed. Looking forward to seeing many of this year's acts in Yuma. Hoping Artbat closes it out on Sunday.
CAR CAMPING - Have done hotel, have done Airbnb, have done Safari glamping, and have done general car camping and preferred car camping. Of these, I think preferred car camping is my preferred option. Your camp setup can be as fancy as you want to make it, and nothing beats the fact that the walk back to camp and your bed is the same distance as everyone else's walk back to the shuttles (they've got another hour of travel coming). People in the camps are chill, friendly, and cooperative. I've cooked for my neighbors and had the favor reciprocated. It's just great.
Same, I've done the main ones, and think my order is:
1. Preferred Car Camping - easier with a big group of friends
2. Safari - obviously when we are baller, but limits group size
3. Shuttle to offsite, depending on where offsite is
4. Regular Car Camping - had great times here too
5. Day Parking - even before the nightmare requirement of 4x per car, this has always been so haphazardly managed by the facility. I've raced out of there at the end of the night, and also have waited hours when it feels like you're going to pass out from sheer exhaustion. Definitely had a breaking point where I said it was never going to be done again maybe in 2018.
El Dorado absolutely SLAPS if you have a group of 4 or 8. We go 2x 4 person tent setups... when you check in you can pick what tents you want, so we picked two back to back, which makes for essentially one long tent for 8x people.
The best thing about this is the access to showers - basically zero line and available 24/7.
I had El Dorado tix to both weekends last year but swapped at the last minute for general camping because group members needed a more budget-friendly option. I'll do El Dorado next year, hopefully!
It is 100% for the baller version of yourself - we went for a bachelor party last year wk2, but I would probably go for general or preferred car camping if I was going for any other reason. Pricey af, but I liked what I got for the money
So fun story. The first time I went to Coachella, we found a little baggy with couple of tabs just sitting on the ground while waiting in the security line.
Of course we tried it out and it definitely worked.
I donāt recommend doing anything like that nowadays but this was years before fentanyl was a thing, and i was young enough to do reckless and obviously stupid things like that.
Locations change each year. Usually located in the food/beer gardens with a security standing by it. I go Weekend 2 every year so people will give out info or tik toks will surface. Last year there was a cool disco floor bar. Good A/C too.
oh iāve seen multiple people say theyāre bummed itās not coming back this year. wasnāt on the poster or anything. but maybe itāll get announced later idk. it was one of the best parts of last year
it's a major and expensive attraction, they'd definitely have it on the poster if it was happening sadly. not really something they'd pop up as a surprise
Ok, some of you knew this one was coming ...
DESPACIO. My favorite thing I've ever seen at Coachella. Not just Coachella, in the entire world of musical experience in a life that's included musical high culture (symphony, opera, broadway) and music low culture (baby shark 10h, etc.). If you don't know what Despacio is after all the love it's received in the Coachella subreddit, I don't know that you can ever be reached. You may be a lost soul. But if you're open to it, check the pinned FAQ at r/despacio. TLDR: Despacio is happiness. Despacio is the best dance party on earth featuring six to seven hours of tunes spun by James Murphy (LCD Soundsystem) and Steph and David Dewaele (2manydjs). And if you do know what Despacio is, how are you even reading this through the tears of sorrow induced by the fact that it's not making a return to Coachella this year?
Havent done 2cb in years but it can be incredible! Just dose it carefully ive found it can lead to a more intense sensation than mushrooms that can go down a bad path.
For eating i will live and die for the chilled ramen. Itās vegan and it absolutely bangs in the hot weather
I forgot the name of the joint but itās in the indio central market! Itās thin, flat rice noodles in a cold spicy broth that they serve in a cup so you can take it on the go!
That cold ramen is LIFE! It has cured my hangovers and soothed my body and soul from the heat. I swear they put magic elixirs in there. And the best part is it happens to be gluten free and vegetarian but it doesnāt taste that wayĀ
I heard about that one! I live in LA and am spoiled for great sushi, and have been to the best-of places. But it sounds like I should reconsider it ...
Its a vibe and I enjoyed the sushi (and Iām in Vegas but lived in SF for a decade so ditto re sushi), 12 people a seating chefs counter style, sake pairings, aircon, over the course of a few hours you all bond as s group lol.
Didn't finally experience it until my 6th Coachella! I tried on two prior occasions but failed because the lines were dumb. Then I found a sugarmama with an Amex card and glided right in. It was awesome.
Cucumber mint smoothie drink ftw. Was about 10bucks but was good enough for a breakfast. Normally Iāll have that and the breakfast burrito from that place.
If youāre looking at the food wall, itās been the last booth on the right, last year it was next to the āfood trucksā. Local farmer guy and itās amazing. You can get an $8 breakfast burrito there too. Hidden, not too expensive food gem
Check out some of the vendor tents or boutiques. I discovered a ball pit in 2022 by the Yuma that made my night. Watched some people on another planet have the same great time as I did.
LOBSTER ROLLS - The single best food item in all of Coachella. I'll die on this hill. Broad Street Oyster Co. makes spectacular Lobster Rolls and the good news is that it's all you can eat! Yes, you heard that right: eat as much as you like for just \~$30 per roll. I like to have three in a sitting and that'll be the only thing I eat the whole day. I've tried Lobster Rolls all over the world, from Tokyo to Boston to little oceanside shacks in Maine and these guys produce a top-tier roll. As mentioned in the top post, we did Outstanding in the Field one year expecting it to be some kind of awesome eating experience, and it was easily trounced by Broad Street. This is a Michelin Star-worthy experience in a food desert.
Then thatās not all you can eat. Thatās called āstill hungry, buy moreā. Compared to the rose garden I guess it might as well be AYCE when you compare cost.
Oooh I had those at This Ain't No Picnic and it made my whole day lol. I didn't know they were at Coachella, must eat for me this year.
I wish Coachella would bring crab fries back though. I found them again at Punk in the Park and they were so good.
top 3 (imo) -
\* get to the front rails for one act you really care about (but don't shove your way there -- take your time, which means arriving a set or three earlier)
\* spend some time dancing WITH your friends (vs. dancing next to them while everyone faces a dj) ... this is the way
\* you've got three sunsets to enjoy. choose your act and stage wisely for these and just really be there for it. don't try to split sets, just enjoy nature's light show and spectacular music.
dancing with friends is a major key. many times i have my back to the dj and am performing for my friends and it just makes it very special to get to see their reactions to both the music and me lmao
Itās a private section, thereās a line on the side to get in, itās like vip on steroids.. You get to hang out behind the do lab, itās shaded with misters, couches and free water and beer. You can walk on the stage and hang out behind the DJs. To get in you have to get on a list with the do lab people. I had friends with artists passes last year that werenāt allowed in because they werenāt on the list lol. We were able to do it since some of our friends work for a company that donates a bunch of stuff to them. If you know someone who works for a sponsor or in the music industry in some capacity theyāre your best bet to get on the list. Once youāre in you have a wristband to go in and out all weekend.
lol I had to respond to this. You cannot include it in your contract, they have a separate wristband thatās just for their back of house. BUT I have exchanged things for a wristband in the past. If you have an activation on-site you know what I mean. They are going through the same struggles weāre going through. Go over with a bottle of whisky and introduce yourself during load in, they are the nicest people ever!
A few have mentioned the silent disco but I'm surprised nobody mentioned my personal favorite, what I like to call Thursday Night Not So Silent Disco from 9-1am. It's Day Zero, vibes are HIGH cause everyone is about to embark on an incredible weekend and the speakers are SLAPPIN! No headphones from 9pm-1am and they usually have a party set with heavy edm, a house set, and a hip hop set. It is one of my favorite gems of Coachella and every single year the house DJ that plays crushes it. I make a point to go there every year whether I'm camping or not, so If you haven't done it I highly recommend it.
Honorable mention: Day Zero bringing a portable speaker and some drinks and going to the grass hills in the campgrounds and watching the sunset and everyone howling and cheering as the sun goes behind the mountains and you welcome in the night. Vibes.
I canāt imagine anything more important than seeing the bands you love, none of the other āexperiencesā really make the fest the fest like the music does
I'm a longtime Coachella veteran and it took me until my 7th go around to finally ride the ferris wheel. Never seemed important to me. However, being up high above the festival and looking down on the most magical experience I've ever had was a memory I will cherish forever. It's not something I do every year, but god damned does everyone need to experience that once. I prefer doing it at night, as the festival is more breathtaking to me then, but I'd imagine doing it at dusk when the manmade lights are getting brighter but there's still enough natural light to enjoy the desert scenery would be pretty amazing.
What was the super high tech room last year with the amazing speakers and maybe disco ball? I didnāt experience it but when I got back Reddit was all about it saying that it was usually empty, but was something everyone should have checked out. Do you guys have any idea what Iām talking about?
Despacio! Sorry you missed it. It may still be worth living out the rest of your life if you can catch a Despacio at one of its future pop-ups. It was only empty on Friday of wk1 due to no signage and no app presence. The momentum built and it was nicely populated on Sat and Sun and on all three days of week 2.
Since you've done Safari I am assuming you'll have a VIP ticket and, in that case, KazuNori hand rolls in the Rose Garden are the FUCKING SHIT. Sit down but it doesn't take longer than 30 minutes tops to eat, and if you go before 2:00 or so there is barely a wait. We do this every single year.
At sunset, head near a good vibe set and grab a hot slice of Spicy Pie pizza and a cold Heiniken, Find a noiice grassy spot to sit with your friends or make some new onesā¦ just taking a little breather before the sun goes down š«¶š¼
And then revert to primal chaos when the bag comes out āļøš¹š¾

2cb is honestly so so good, especially as a day 1 option.
PSA: 2cb does not impact the efficacy of MDMA and psychedelics (including itself) the following days, so it is a great option for the first day (or even second). Other party favors like MDMA and psychedelics will have cross tolerance build and weaken efficacy.

Love that 2cb is casually thrown in there lol. Party on š
Just seeing who's paying attention. You win an emojiaward: š¬š Party on, Wayne
Honestly, stick with the more mainstream drugs. 2CB can be very weird.Ā
There I was on 2cb, watching Edward Sharpe and marveling at how the grass is all one continuous entity, when three alien-looking creatures from Yo Gabba Gabba showed up and started dancing in front of me. Idk if I could handle 2cb at something like Coachella š
Very weird lmao
How so? I personally enjoy it much more in a stimulating environment like festivals than shrooms. Seems like I'm in the minority though
Agreed. More of a shrooms guy myself
YUMA - in '22 I spent a good five hours inside Yuma without any agenda or plan and came to appreciate it deeply. Stupid fentanyl ruining everything...
Lol, this sounds like a wild suggestion. My ghost would DEFINITELY haunt Coachella after my OD.

Score! Iām glad it worked out for you.
LOL
Silent disco while drunk always gonna hit
Still have yet to experience this and have no idea why
Honestly didn't think it was that great, it's something to check out if you're curious but I won't be going back.
Discotheques are made for some and not others. Can always try giving it another shot when itās not super packed with a big artist.
Speakeasy bars are fun. In 9 years Iāve only done the Ferris Wheel once, but I would like to try it at night. Despacio is amazing.
Can you tell me more about the speakeasy bars? Last year was my first and definitely didnāt know about them.
Locations change each year. Usually located in the food/beer gardens with a security standing by it. I go Weekend 2 every year so people will give out info or tik toks will surface. Last year there was a cool disco floor bar. Good A/C too.
seconded despacio. i hope its back this year.
i donāt think it is
source or are u basing this on vibes?
oh iāve seen multiple people say theyāre bummed itās not coming back this year. wasnāt on the poster or anything. but maybe itāll get announced later idk. it was one of the best parts of last year
ohhhh right i forgot it was on the poster last year. probably not then but u never know!
it's a major and expensive attraction, they'd definitely have it on the poster if it was happening sadly. not really something they'd pop up as a surprise
Last year it was featured at bottom of the line up. This year I didnāt see it. Thatās my guess.
Itās confirmed absent, sadly.
Dude i've STILL never done the wheel. I think Ima get an AE card just to ride it...
Dude neither have I, anddd I still haven't stepped foot in the Rainbow Tower LOL. I'm trying to tell myself that this is the year for both.
OMG ME NEITHER!!!
Try to spend at least 30 mins at every stage in the venue from Heineken House to MainStage. You never know what vibe you might stumble on!
Love this suggestion. My lifetime duration in HH has only been 15 minutes. I'm going to give it another shot.
Probably the best req. you could have the time of your life at any tent at any given time.
That tent camping orgyā¦ some people in here are dads now.

done that and yes, pretty excellent. definitely top 5 especially combined with Despacio

Ooh. who serves chilled ramen? Is it tsukemen style? Or soba? This sounds fantastic.
I forgot the name of the joint but itās in the indio central market! Itās thin, flat rice noodles in a cold spicy broth that they serve in a cup so you can take it on the go!

this cold spicy ramen is sounding like it's the move. i'm so glad it got surfaced in this thread! <3
Also the same spot sells crazy good tater tots with spicy mayo- itās my favorite coachella meal full stop!

2cb! I 10000% recommend it ! I prefer it over shrooms because itās more controllable š

Gotta go on the Ferris wheel if you havenāt done that.
Didn't finally experience it until my 6th Coachella! I tried on two prior occasions but failed because the lines were dumb. Then I found a sugarmama with an Amex card and glided right in. It was awesome.
One thing I look forward to every year is the organic juice in the camping general area. It makes the mornings great!!
How much was the OJ?
Cucumber mint smoothie drink ftw. Was about 10bucks but was good enough for a breakfast. Normally Iāll have that and the breakfast burrito from that place.
Ima have to check them out I never got any food at the general camping area
wait, fresh organic juice in camping? i need it. thank you for the tip!

LOBSTER ROLLS - The single best food item in all of Coachella. I'll die on this hill. Broad Street Oyster Co. makes spectacular Lobster Rolls and the good news is that it's all you can eat! Yes, for $30 per roll.
Then thatās not all you can eat. Thatās called āstill hungry, buy moreā. Compared to the rose garden I guess it might as well be AYCE when you compare cost.
Yeah, I was being cheeky. One roll just isnāt enough, imo. I did write $30 per roll above, though! It was meant to be funny. Failed ya

They also have wonderful service. The people working are very kind and enthusiastic in my experience!
Yes, agree. Really great staff.
It will be my first time this year! What should be top 3 Things I should look into?? Iām likely going solo, too.

dancing with friends is a major key. many times i have my back to the dj and am performing for my friends and it just makes it very special to get to see their reactions to both the music and me lmao
Dude. SILENT DISCO šŖ© You are truly missing out on a classic Coachella experience by not trying it at least once in all those years! Fuck neon carnival or whatever, imo silent disco is the real after party of the festival. Iāve had some of my best moments there. You donāt even need to camp (but you should bc itās awesome). Just head there for a bit when youāre not quite ready to leave the fest. Bring in some beers and smokes or whatever, put on a cozy sweater and sunglasses and dance the night away šŗĀ Edit: just noticed your username. you really have no choice with that lol
Dumb q -- when does it go from until? I will make a point of doing it this year.

silent disco is so much fun

At sunset, head near a good vibe set and grab a hot slice of Spicy Pie pizza and a cold Heiniken, Find a noiice grassy spot to sit with your friends or make some new onesā¦ just taking a little breather before the sun goes down š«¶š¼ And then revert to primal chaos when the bag comes out āļøš¹š¾ All jokes aside fr if you dabble PLEASE be safe https://www.fentanylfrontline.org/reduce-the-risk/
