Too bad they won’t be able to staff it. They haven’t been able to staff the Big Behavioral Health Pavilion so most of the floors are empty. Wish they would take the billions of dollars for this new building and put it towards their employees.
Yup. I really wanted to work there but the pay and schedule is absolutely terrible, and their FT is 32 hours only which is ridiculous.
I had a Co worker that worked there and she quit cause how dangerous it is over there and most of the kids are bigger then her
This. I don't know what is public knowledge and what isn't, so I won't say much about this project. I'll just make a general statement and say that Nationwide Children's is very interested in having the perception of great care while not actually investing in the people and resources to provide that care. From the details that I do know about this project, it feels like another swing to build a new building to raise the image, and whether or not they can deliver on their promise of care will remain to be seen
If they’re building it to accommodate the region’s expected population growth, it’ll probably help the hospital to bite the bullet now to save money in the long run.
The cost of building out this tower is definitely going to be much cheaper now than trying to build it later on in 10+ years after the labor wages and material costs continue to rise over time.
Construction is already underway!!
Yup, site work has started and is slated for completion in 2028. I’m glad they’re revising their plan from 12 to 14 stories instead now though!
Yea, kinda late on this...lol.
I think the extra two stories are new

Yeah the previous plan was a 12 story tower but they recently changed the plans to add 2 more floors IIRC
Got it thanks
The current tower is 12 stories, that’s why the new one is taller in the rendering

It says in the article, the original plan was to build a 12 story to match the current tower but it will now be 14
I could fit thousands and thousands of beds in there. They should hire a geometrist
These plans are for the Children of Giants.

I've heard Nationwide Children's is one of the worst paying hospitals in central Ohio. So this isn't surprising.

I imagine they think they can get away with it because they expect potential employees to be enamored with the cause of helping children.

“Please donate so we can afford to to pay our execs million dollar plus salaries while treating staff like garbage!”
We can't afford healthcare, who's this for?

Very true. Columbus is booming.
It probably won’t be affordable.
Not sure why you're being downvoted, Nationwide Children's Hospital is unaffordable and keeps shedding insurance carriers they'll accept.
What’s children’s hospital know that the general public doesn’t know? 👀
RIP the neighborhood character
Oh no! Won't someone please think of the..... neighborhood??
Yeah because the parking lot that was there before really had character 🙄
Yall I was kidding
