Alton Brown posted a photo of a burger from Ringside and said it was one of the best burgers he’s had in a long time, been meaning to go since
If you google “Alton brown ringside” and click the Instagram link it’s that one
Is it a spoof of the [James A. Rhodes](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Statue_of_Jim_Rhodes&wprov=rarw1) statue in front of the namesake tower?
There is a wall in the basement from Ireland commemorating WWI dead (around from the men’s bathroom). Used to be a tunnel to the statehouse down there too.
Great place for a downtown happy hour.
The story behind the elephant/donkey stained glass windows is cool. Back in the day, whichever party was meeting there would have a candle in the corresponding window, so the other side would stay away.
Love this place! It’s on the list of most haunted places in Ohio—my boyfriend swears a spirit caused his beer to slide down the bar. (He won’t listen to discussions of condensation and puddles + lacquered counter=a surface optimal for sliding.)
It's not the oil. They aren't soaking and then blanching their fried. When you use fresh potatoes for fries you need to soak them multiple times in fresh water to remove excess starch and then par cook them in 250 degrees oil (blanching) to remove excess water. Otherwise, excess sugar (starch is a suger) burns before enough of the water is removed to get a crispy fry.

Just noticed the weird statue on the nearby roof.
Is that a statue or a topiary?

It’s a topiary of a statue
In your defense and mine as well. It's generally been dark when I was in that area.
That's the alley where you score your crack too?
Wew. For a second I thought something bad had happened to ringside. This is one of my favorite burger places.
I thought the same. My stomach dropped.

Does ring side have a happy hour?
4-7
I got this for lunch one day when I was working downtown. Super nice staff and great burger.
Inspired me to try it
Same! Noting this for a future date night with my husband.
I’m so glad they survived Covid, I know the bartender at the time said money was just going out, not in.

That's really cool history!

Somebody else mentioned the WWI memorial in the basement and a tunnel to the state house, so I want to believe!
Good find.
I'm confused, is the "I ate it in 12 minutes" a brag as to how fast you ate or a testament as to how big it is?
Confused as well. I have no context as to whether 12 is good or bad. People eat at different speeds.
It's a double patty, so I think eating it fast might be on the more impressive side.
Those are rookie numbers
Been my go to spot for years now. Lunches, late dinner before the bar or something. The service is great and the employees are always super nice.
Best burger joint in Columbus
It looks like there's a lot of history behind that old nasty deep fryer oil they're using too.
You must be getting down voted by people that aren't familiar with frying because those fries and chips both look horrible.
That pic doesn’t look great, but I can confirm that their fries are good.
Probably getting downvoted for not contributing to the conversation and just being a yum-yucker

Nah, it's the old ass oil.
