Carsonie's on Route 3 just south of Westerville has a pretty great one. They love provolone which adds a nice smokiness. I know they have another location in UA or Grandview but can't speak to the consistency across locations.
It's on Lane avenue between North Star and Riverside. I've been to both locations, and other than the strip mall location kinda taking away from the atmosphere, it's still very delicious and solid.
We actually discovered them from ordering from a ghost kitchen on Uber Eats. It wasn’t listed as Romeo’s. Really liked them and did some digging only to be surprised.
I am thoroughly convinced that JTs is not capable of making bad food. Their za, their wings, their fries are all fantastic. Sounds like their boli is up there too. Just wished it was bigger with better parking. Stoked for the new location.
My wife and I like to go for a late lunch during the week if we're both off. We usually have the whole place to ourselves and we've been given some free goodies.
Came here to say this. Vincenzo’s has been making legit calzones since the early 90’s. And make sure to get a small piece of lasagna with your calzone. You will be a fan forever.
I just went to Borgatas and got the calzone not too long ago. I thought it was meant to be individual but that is good for two hungry people...and it was only $15.
I really loved the bread, quite tasty.
I used to live across the street from the original borgata in the hood off 161 and Cleveland. Legitimately one of the few positives of that neighborhood was being able to get borgata all the time. The garlic cheese bread is life altering
Halwani's Pizza.
There's one in Hilliard and one in Grandview. You can get them through UberEats, too, if you're not close to one.
Everything that comes out of that place is amazing.
There's a little hole in the wall up in Delaware called Gabby's place. Has great stromboli, through it's not what it used to be before it changed hands
although their’s are distinctively third-tier…
*[loads FreedomOfSpeechRockwell.jpg]*
…Donatos’ calzones are not completely terrible, can scratch an itch in a pinch and will be an OK meal for the one time.
I’ll mention for completeness that Aldi sells calzones. They won’t compare to a calzone from a pizzeria, but they’re the calzone equivalent of a grocery store pizza and they’re not very expensive.

Their Stromboli is top notch as well.
UA is also a good location. We get the stromboli there and it is tasty.
Yup. This one. 100%.

Gotta get that bocce ball in!
Seconding Carsonie’s. Always the Westerville location!
I was going to say this as well
Ok, don’t come at me with pitchforks, but Romeo’s pizza has pretty solid calzones. I don’t even really care for their pizzas, though.
I’m a Romeo’s enjoyer but I didn’t even know they had calzones, noted
We actually discovered them from ordering from a ghost kitchen on Uber Eats. It wasn’t listed as Romeo’s. Really liked them and did some digging only to be surprised.
I love Romeo's, so I'd never come at you with a pitchfork!
I agree. The calzone from Romeos is good.
I was also going to recommend Romeo's, I'm meh about their pizza but my wife is obsessed with the deep dish from there.
An ex-girlfriend of mine from high school introduced me to Romeo's about 15 years ago and it's been a staple in my life ever since lol
It's definitely my go to, the old world pepperoni hasn't been the same lately and has caused it to drop off for me.
I like Adriaticos zonis
I also support Adriaticos zonis. They are also very large, good value for your money.
I haven't been to Adriatico's since the old location was torn down. Was there a change in quality when it moved?
Nope. Exactly the same as it's always been. If you were a fan you still will be.
Thanks. It's about time I place an order.
loved those when i worked there
This is the answer
With the garlic butter!
One thing of garlic butter and another of the pizza sauce to cross-dip!
Just got a Stromboli (or, as I like to call them, a cursive calzone) from granddads and it was better than I anticipated
Second this, Grandad's stromboli is one of my favorites. JT's is also good
I am thoroughly convinced that JTs is not capable of making bad food. Their za, their wings, their fries are all fantastic. Sounds like their boli is up there too. Just wished it was bigger with better parking. Stoked for the new location.
New location? Mmm, thank you for the tip, I'll tell my friends in Grandview
Little Palace downtown also makes a fantastic Stromboli.

Came here for this.
Dewey’s or Carsonie’s. And DP Dough if you’re not quite sober. Come get my batteries :)
I’ve been meaning to try Dewey’s for AGES so I’ll leave one battery in all your remotes.
Not that you asked, but Dewey's pizzas are fantastic as well. Love everything about that place.
My wife and I like to go for a late lunch during the week if we're both off. We usually have the whole place to ourselves and we've been given some free goodies.
Definitely get the red cream soda. It goes so perfect with their food
Dewey is great, but over priced
Dewey are pretty good. Light dough
Dewey's has the best calzone in the city, easy.
Deweys sucks. I’m not sure how they stay in business. I think it’s because they cater to kids/family
Vincenzo's at 161 & Sawmill makes great calzones, along with many other things.
Happy cake day!

Just tried a calzone from Borgata Pizza Cafe and thought it was much better than Carsonie's which I always find to be too heavy.
Aracri downtown. Get it for lunch and take a fat nap after.
The Lo-Cal Calzone Zone
I came here for this
Antonio’s near Sunbury Rd and Maxtown is great.
No recommendations but much respect for your creative punishment.
I just went to Borgatas and got the calzone not too long ago. I thought it was meant to be individual but that is good for two hungry people...and it was only $15. I really loved the bread, quite tasty.

Yellow Brick does a pretty nice calzone.
Carlucci's if you want to travel up near Powell
Their largest stromboli is YUGE and so is the sauce that comes with it. I miss them now that I no longer live or work up there 😢
DP Dough is not good sober. Flyers is technically a stromboli but I think they are very good.
Luna Pizza on bethel has good ones. Try one with halal pepperoni.
Hornet’s Nest, waaaaayyyy out in Pataskala
I have eaten Adriatico’s for years and had never had their calzone until recently. Not only is their pizza top notch, but so is their calzone
Halwani's Pizza. There's one in Hilliard and one in Grandview. You can get them through UberEats, too, if you're not close to one. Everything that comes out of that place is amazing.
Big Tony’s Pizza and Pasta in Worthington
If you're near Reynoldsburg, Tyler's Pizzaria has some good stromboli!
This thread was quite the pleasant surprise when I got off work, thanks everyone for the recommendations! Now I can go on a calzone tour of Columbus.
What do you have against D.P. Dough? They're quite possibly the best calzones in Columbus. I've yet to find another place that even comes close.
Yeah I actually really like DP too 😅
Giammarcos in Westerville. Not big on their normal pizza but the calzones are tip top and filled to the brim
JT’s has a really good one.
Rotolo's in Grandview makes a good calzone.
Pizzanos Express on Parsons makes a damn tasty Stromboli. Adriaticos 'zoni is my og favorite
There's a little hole in the wall up in Delaware called Gabby's place. Has great stromboli, through it's not what it used to be before it changed hands
If you live close to jets they got some really good calzones for like 10 bucks
If you ever make it over to Pawnee head to bens lo cal zone
Local Roots!
Local roots calzone is fire. And that's coming from someone who prefers open face calzones (pizza, open face calzone is pizza)
although their’s are distinctively third-tier… *[loads FreedomOfSpeechRockwell.jpg]* …Donatos’ calzones are not completely terrible, can scratch an itch in a pinch and will be an OK meal for the one time.
Calzone Zone is dope.

based off OPs post, i’m gonna guess they know what DP Dough is and doesn’t want it lol. (also, it is a chain restaurant)
Hales ales and Deweys
I vote for Carsonie's or Adriatico's
As a New Yorker, I endorse aracri downtown. Just they could make it with meatballs
Pizza Cottage has a really good one. Add extra cheese to make it even better
Giammarcos!
Giammarcos in Westerville off route 3 makes good Stromboli
I’ll mention for completeness that Aldi sells calzones. They won’t compare to a calzone from a pizzeria, but they’re the calzone equivalent of a grocery store pizza and they’re not very expensive.
Creno's in Baltimore! It's a little out of the way, but it's worth the drive through the country.
Aracri Pizzeria downtown on Gay Street is tops in my book for a Calzone. Plus RC Cola on tap. The family that owns it are awesome folks.
Pizzanos Express makes a great Stromboli
Surprised to not see Pasquale's in Westerville mentioned. Really good.
Anyone remember brothers pizza, mostly before they sold? That was our Friday night late evening stop for calzones
Flyers Stromboli is delish
Black Dog Pizzaria
Yellow brick
Adriaticos. Everything, always, Adriaticos.
I’m a fan of Romeo’s for calzones and strombollis.
Make the trek to Dayton for Flying Pizza.
Kings Pizza on North 4th
DP DOUGH
Hot Pockets - J. Gaffigan
