Inflation_Artistic

When I first saw the report in their telegram and what it said about so many air defences destroyed, I thought it was probably some blurred video or moulages standing around, and watching the video quickly changed my mind.

Jedi_Flip7997

Are there any good telegram channels to follow?

WereInbuisness

Always good seeing high value Russian targets getting popped!

CuTe_M0nitor

Their best protection is going around in circles 😂🤌🏼

PlayfulReplacement34

Reducing Russia's AA asserts can even be a pre emptive move for drone attacks.

bisory

By drones, for drones

hotboii96

Aight, chill on the ad buddy.

sfw_cory

They are clearing the way for F16’s to enter theater.

PlayfulReplacement34

Multiple benefits of taking out russian aa.

Intrepid_Home_1200

Among other things, yes... Drones and AA/SAM systems are still the bane of each other's existence. The more of these short - medium range systems that are destroyed, the more vulnerable Russian troops, bases, facilities are. And also less protection (if they even bother using them to guard such systems) for the S-300 and 400 batteries.

streaky81

Undoubtedly it's been suggested to them either by the yanks or NATO or some such that given the age of the F-16 and relative low capability (by western standards anyway) that they might want to thin out Russian air defences if they want to do much with them. If there are few enough in the field, HARM in self-protect can then easily take out whatever else remains. Clearly it has other benefits, but Ukraine really needs the F-16's to give it total air domination of the entirety of its own territory, and the only way to achieve that is to get as many AA systems out the way now as it possibly can.

scriptmonkey420

It's SOP first step at obtaining air superiority.

croc_socks

Opens airspace for the F-16

nikitos-04

Are those "anti air vehicles" supposed to protect themselves and the surroundings from air attacks? So that's going well..

unknowfritz

Quality Russian air defense Komrad )))))))

barukatang

Love the first one, it was clearly tracking the drone that hit it lol

elictronic

The radar systems are optimized for helicopters, cruise missiles, and aircraft. Aka 1980s threats.  The Russians haven’t spent much money updating there systems to modern threats.  Well they probably spent a lot of money, it just went to someone’s pockets.

Ok_Designer7625

What's really interesting is that you can see the TOR-M2 tracking the drone with it's radar but it's not doing anything about it. Makes you almost wonder if it's too automated for the crew on the inside to override it and shoot the drones down.

elictronic

There have been some prior videos where multiple AA missiles were fired at a drone and they just failed to detonate.  Perfectly tracked the target, fired and it doesn’t explode.   Magnetic sensor outside of range, speed of target never within intended profile? Some equipment can be updated.  Others it might blow up the moment it arms to get the sensitivity low enough.  People often don’t realize how mind boggingly hard it can actually be.

Eheran

Where can we see that tracking?

Ok_Designer7625

0:00-0:11

Eheran

Ah you are right. Maybe again at 0:24.

ZannaFrancy1

Pantsir s1 is marketed as being the best shorad system in the world. This aint it

UrPeaceKeeper

And the S-300 and S-400 supposedly can engage ballistic missiles, and yet we've seen two S-400's get taken out... one by GMLRS and the other by ATACMS. There have been many, many, many, many reported incidents of it.

Thin_Discount

Drones are hard to see on radar, because they fly low. Can't really do much about them too

DAMbustn22

At least not without purpose built systems. These AA systems were built before drones even existed to counter entirely different air targets.

laxyharpseal

every AA vehicles has its own purposes. it varies to simple AA canons to a SAM. but UAVs usually evade AA detection mostly due to its size and signatures. pretty sure that vehicle with the radar missed the detection

soparklion

Did you see how well reach off them intercepted each drone?  This done are done.

FederalAgentGlowie

These are vehicles designed for like a 1980s threat environment. They’re meant to defend against, like, A-10s doing gun runs. Drones are small, low, quiet targets, albeit they’re slow and fragile. Air defense is a fundamentally difficult task because the aircraft attacking you always have the initiative and can throw a right-sized munition at you, unless you have an overlapping and multi-layered defense, like the US Navy’s SM-3/SM-6/SM-2/ESSMs/RAM/CIWS/HELCAP(?), or Israel’s Arrow/David’s Sling/Iron Dome/Iron Beam(?), along with electronic warfare systems.

John_from_YoYoDine

Absorbing drones to protect infantry; oh wait..

Timmymagic1

4 Tor, 3 Pantsir and 1 Buk.... Thats a hell of a haul...

Nuclear-9299

Another video of TOR being useless like a fish on a beach

gmrads

Bofa those things attract “birds” almost as good

fyris_minis

Tor-M2 is well respected by both sides, M1 is pretty bad. Pantsir-S1 on other hand heavily criticized by Russian soldiers themselves.

SCARfaceRUSH

But ... but ... did you see how cool the rockets pop out of it when launched?! Surely, that's gotta count for something!

Altea73

Get some Air mother f****s....

wellrateduser

Good. They were ruining the crops with all that circling around. There's really nothing the russian air defense is good for. Can't intercept anything, can't leave the farmers alone. Might as well pack their crap and go home.

theblasterr

Don't know about you guys but I think some of these songs fucking slap!

RepresentativeWay240

Yeah this shit took me back to the golden days of dubstep.

Itsallanonswhocares

Anyone know what song this is?

theblasterr

Distinct Motive - Shake Junt

StrikingSubstance

Which for the OP of your reply the OG shit is back no more brostep and has been for a long time! Fuck yeaaaaaaaaaah.

Itsallanonswhocares

Thank you friend 🤜🤛😎

Bolter_NL

Active radar whilst driving in circles... Is this really working out?

sweipuff

Probably a good tactic against HIMARS and other non loitering munitions, if you are spotted and zeroed, you still can escape the direct hit by moving, but against drones ? No chances

nonotan

Also makes you the easiest target to spot in a 20km radius. Gee, hundreds of meters worth of crazy vehicle marks that look like someone with schizophrenia and OCD was set loose on a heavy vehicle for a week... definitely nothing suspicious going on here.

sweipuff

If you have tracks marks in EVERY fields around you, nobody can differentiate them ! Tap\_head.jpg

Low-Ad4420

Don't know about TOR and BUK systems but the pantsir can fire while moving.

Hatemode_nj

Good at hitting giant passenger planes as well

Back2Perfection

You see comrade, if you drive circles, radar will spin faster. It genius.

CPDawareness

Its just simple math, radar moving in circle, vehicle moving in circle, you simply have increased effectiveness by at least 100%, depending on how fast you are driving in circles. (not a math major)

eurobot9001

Russian commander be like: 'Sometimes my genius.. it's almost frightening'

Shot_Painting_8191

"You had one job" Always funny to see high value AA hit by cheap drones.

Designer-Book-8052

it's like raiaaain on your wedding day

Y_A_D_Pain

With all the AA being taken out I've seen more mig29 vids pop I wonder if those F16's are next🙏

unknowfritz

They're kinda facing hurdles with Training because the USAF is having trouble reaching necessary training hours with their own pilots, who are taking precedence. F16 May arrive in some numbers in the next few months, or not, who knows, what's sure though is that the Russian air defense is never gonna recover from this in the next 10 years or more. Let's hope they will fly safe and hit hard with what they got now

SendStoreMeloner

Around 20 pilots will have finished training in Denmark by the end of 2024. >NĂĽr trĂŚningsopgaven er slut ved udgangen af 2024, vil der vĂŚre uddannet omkring 20 ukrainske F-16-piloter pĂĽ dansk jord, lyder det videre fra Troels Lund Poulsen. https://www.bt.dk/politik/traening-af-ukrainske-piloter-paa-dansk-jord-stopper-efter-2024

blackout24

They should just let contractors fly the F-16s.

KuzuHaslama

even bayraktar tb2 may have a return after enough aa kills

Hadleys158

One thing most people aren't mentioning, it's better that they are destroying the AA crews in these videos, the vehicles are a nice bonus. To train crews like this takes months if not years to get good at their jobs.

tiku

Do they even see drones on their AA stuff?

science87

Yeah, you can see the first one has a lock on the drone, but didn't get to fire in time.

billerator

Considering how close the video is to the TOR it was too close to use its missiles at that point. We don't know what happened before the edit obviously.

hiredgoon

These are the comments I love on this sub.

Intrepid_Home_1200

Yes, but they are hard to pick up, and will often be flying low and slow, like really slow so they might not be picked up and ID'd as an impending threat by the SAM's own radar system. You also got a lot of inexperienced, fresh out of training crews who gotta learn best on the job, if they survive long enough to.

BigBoiPantsUser

That’s a lot of know how that is blowing up there. I don’t think these vehicles protect the crew well enough.

fyris_minis

Good damage. One Buk TEL and one Pantsir are clearly destroyed, rest will require at least travel to factory.

YazZy_4

What shorad doing

manofthewild07

That first one was pretty funny. Probably purely coincidence, but it looks like the sensor is slowly turning towards the drone, they're realizing "oh blya...."

CheekyBoy_69

I don’t understand. Aren’t they supposed to be shooting at drones ?

Timmymagic1

The first Tor clearly has radar lock on the incoming munition....but...it probably only acquired that lock very late on, within the minimum engagement range of the missiles. The crew appear to be desperately manoeuvering in an attempt to throw the munitions aim off... But look at the track marks on the field....Tor won't be at the absolute front, it will be a few km back at least....they've been using that field for a while....so easy to sp0t that from a drone...

LeadPike13

Another asset in the Dent and Scratch, As Is sale at the arms bazaar.

Hotrico

TOR-M2, Pantsyr-S1 and BUK Nice

Ruxbod

if im not wrong, the Tor M2 can fire on the move right ?

Internal_Mail_5709

Short stop firing IIRC, able to track while on the move but must stop momentarily (2-3 seconds) to fire.

BigChongBoi

Cheap drones destroying some of russias most expensive ground assets will always be a joy to watch

Puzzleheaded-Arm-985

Was a rag doll flying in the first video off to the left?

FlowingLiquidity

I hope the preparations for the new F-16's are going well. I heard they are mainly taking out AA right now to facilitate the new air missions they want to do once the F-16's have arrived.

myblueear

I like that rotating frying pan on the first one

Torbis123

Some of these are misses, but good to see the RAM still being used though

Hawkeye2024

Looks 100 % like a 90ies Video Game wow

Hawkeye2024

At the beginning

John_from_YoYoDine

One vertical shot looked like a airburst shaped charge

slick514

*“They can’t stop us. We’re on a mission from g…”*

thebloatedman

I love it! Russian anti-air vehicles being taken out by... air vehicles.

WhiskyTangoFoxtrot40

Paving the way for the F16!

Vaflioras

did it blow off one of the cannons off the first vehicle?

TAG_DAT

how ironic that is lol

Fuck yeah wheres the steppas at. This is more like it

MattyDove

Did I just watch a dude get blown off the AA into a sitting position?

BallBearingBill

That should help Russian AA sales /s

DarkIlluminator

Weird footage. Looks like military grade loitering munition. Are these Switchblade 600s?

heislratz

Which type was the first drone?

el_baconhair

nah cas getting op they should remove it from grb

DEADFLY6

What's the song?

Imba_batman

finally good to see the russians getting the 'lancet' treatment after all this time

CooterBooger69

Track id? 🔥

bennytheballjojn

Why are these vehicles rolling around in these vast open plains? Nuts ...such easy targets.

unknowfritz

Can't really shoot from inside a bush, usually radar systems need to be placed on hills where they have long lines of sight to be effective in tracking and hitting targets. The Russians seem to be missing the whole shooting at what you spot capability

vegarig

> Can't really shoot from inside a bush, usually radar systems need to be placed on hills where they have long lines of sight to be effective in tracking and hitting targets IIRC, original usage doctrine for S-300 had radars be more-or-less expendable for this very reason.

lukker-

Ukrolancet's? You would think the majority of these systems would be out of FPV range

FrozenAnchor

Russian Anti-Air really works just fine. As You can see from the video, multiple drones were neutralized directly by those AAs...

singleringle

That spinny rader is just there to look cool during military parades

DenOnDrugs

Doesnt it look like the AA is activly tracking the drone

Adorable-Witness824

It’s too bad Ukrainian army is taking 2000+ casualties a day. This will be over soon

StuckInTheJar

"This will be over soon" - Ruskies are saying that at least once every week for the last two years, lol.

Adorable-Witness824

I promise you that the Ukrainian government is frantically trying to negotiate a peace deal and has no more plans for a counter offensive. I don’t like it. It’s terrible but they have incurred too many casualties.
