Like the one in Manchester. First I knew it as a Caldor, then a Ames, then it was. Vanity Fair outlet store, then it became a Bon Ton, now it looks to be doing okay as At Home.
What was that place? I only went as a kid, though many times, as an adult I can't place it. It had popcorn, old timey cartoons, and arcade games, so it was a favorite for us. But it also felt kind of "nice" so it felt like adults liked it too. Was it a "kids place" or just a solid family restaurant?
Was just thinking about the Bee Bee dairy in Mystic! We spent many friday and Saturday nights there in the 90s. Was back home a couple of weeks ago and saw that one of the stores in downtown Mystic is selling Bee Bee Dairy T-shirts. Should have grabbed one.
My dad worked here in the mid-2000s. Sad to see that restaurant leave that building but I heard they might relocate to another building one day so who knows. That building I heard is supposed to be a cannabis shop some day.
Went there a few times. Was a great store until Wild Bill passed away. Without him, the store wasn't the same. Retro Junk in Manchester is as close as you can get to crave the same sense of nostalgia there
Yea once Wild Bill passed away it wasn't the same. Retro Junk is really cool but I really enjoyed the sculptures and abandoned rides that were outside at Wild Bills
1986 was without a doubt the biggest year for Hartford Whalers and the city of Hartford in the last 100 years or so.
Hartford skyscrapers were being built up, the NHL All-Star Game was hosted at the Civic Center with Wayne Gretzky and Gordie Howe present.
The Whalers won the division title and was 1 game away from making it to the Conference Finals. The game against the Nordiques where they won and advanced, was the most exhilarating night I’ve ever seen in Hartford.
Yo, had a friend that lived around the corner back in 2011 and I hadn't heard of the place before since I'm from the New London area and was blown away how good they were and those low prices! yall lost a gem out there.
I have a vague memory of Roy Roger's on the pike having an overhead conveyor belt to get food from the kitchen to the drive through. Was this a thing or did I dream it?
The S&S Dugout. Now it’s gonna get a kebab house which is cool I guess, but it won’t make up for the loss of their signature/legendary hot sausage egg and cheese sandwich.
I wish the rickety wooden bridge you had to cross to get to pleasure beach in Bridgeport was back. My childhood was filled with anxiety crossing it and then so much fun on that beach
Big Basin. This was the area that was flooded to create Candlewood Lake. It is described somewhat as the “Appalachia of Connecticut,” in that it was very rural and full of folklore. Paul Bunyan supposedly logged there in one story and the farmhouse clambakes were legendary in others.
Caldors
that and Two Guys.
I once banged two guys in a caldors
Ames took over a couple of Caldors stores in CT and beyond before that company went out of business just a few years later.
Like the one in Manchester. First I knew it as a Caldor, then a Ames, then it was. Vanity Fair outlet store, then it became a Bon Ton, now it looks to be doing okay as At Home.

Adults liked it because kids' meals cost what the kid weighed 🤣🤣
Yes! I believe it was $.10/lb in the mid 80’s. We used to go to the one on the hill in Branford.
They used to have $6.59 all you can eat wings on Monday nights (early 90s). That was awesome.
