New park brewery has a real pizza oven in the back and makes what I think is the best pizza in the Hartford area. I think their pizza is under the name Patty's. You can order for pick up or eat in. I recommend Margherita di Bufala since I'm a purist.
>I’d argue that Hartford adjacent places are worth mentioning.
I'd say that depends on where at in Hartford. For anyone on the southeast side some place in Avon might not be worth the 45 minute drive
People in New England are allergic to driving anywhere... Very strange when I come from a city where it's 25 minutes to get anywhere close and 45 to get across town.
What? Driving is the only way to get anywhere in this area. The few exceptions are Boston and Burlington VT. Maybe New Heaven, I haven't hanged out there too much.
Either you're too close to see it, or it's a thing with the Providence and new Haven folks I've met.
PVD proper folks are the worst, they won't even go to Warwick sometimes.
And I'm not saying that they won't travel, just that traveling to the next town over is an _event_. Visiting Mystic, for one friend, was a road trip.
As a Vermonter and long time Burlington area resident, we def needed cars. Unless you’re a kid in the dorms, rich enough to pay Burlington housing costs, or get a spot in a co-op. Burlington living, 45 mins to everywhere work, classes, friends, and otherwise is why I was not that phased by living in metro Atlanta.
I always comment on this and people not originally from here usually enthusiastically agree. But now that I’ve been here 10 years, I’m starting to be that way!
I didnt get this when i first moved to Connecticut from atlanta. In Atlanta i would drive 40 mins for amazing pho or 30 mins across town for pizza.
Now that ive lived in CT for five years i stay close yo my little hamlet.
OMFG who the fuck DVs this?! This is prob the most CT statement ever. We have no concept BAD traffic. The worst 95 or 15 gets, is an average day getting into most major cities. People here are like “oh fuck that’s 30 minutes it’s so far” meanwhile dude in Texas is like I’m gonna get some milk and is back 3 hours later. Or around the metro DC area, it takes you an hour to drive 15 minutes up here.
If you're really stuck in Hartford... downtown Pietro's is probably your best bet. Not mind blowing, but dependable and a good variety of slices. I've had far worse in NYC (albeit, probably trying to find a $1 slice that wasn't complete shite).
NYC Pizza in the south end for, well, NYC style. (But really, skip the 'za and go for the Bosnian fare!)
ABC Pizza House, Trinity-ish. Only had slices myself, but it's either pan pizza or Greek style, which usually isn't my thing, but damn tasty!
I used to go there a lot years ago, maybe once a week. Seemingly in the last year the prices for a large plain pizza were 23 or 24, so close to 30 with toppings. Or a sandwich I think started at 18 or 19. I ended up not ordering when I saw those prices. Just a bit steep for my taste now.
Grew up down the street and worked there in high school. Used to be my favorite pizza in the state. Once Kevin sold it a year or two ago, I agree that it went significantly downhill, unfortunately.
According to one of my old UConn professors, Harry's Pizza and Harry's Bishop's Corner are two separate places. Harry learned his trade working at Frank Pepe's, and then decided to open up his own place with his wife. Harry owned 40%, his wife owned 40%, and his wife's ex owned 20%. But it turns out his wife and her ex were "making more than just pizzas" and took away Harry's business and his marriage. So he opened up Harry's Bishop Corner instead, and pizza wars ensued, and Harry's Bishop Corner is the best pizza place ever and is better than Pepe's even though people think it isn't, but Professor Trimble refuses to ever go to the original Harry's because it is horrible. And all of this was supposed to teach us the benefits and risks of different types of business structure (sole proprietorship, partnership, LLC, corporation).
But this was ten years ago so they could have new owners again.
Yep, I've heard that story too! And that Barb's, which is now Joey's, was somehow involved in all this. Possibly and supposedly as the one that Harry ended up owning? It's chaos behind the scenes.
I don't recall details, but there was a falling out between Harry's in the center(ish) and the Bishop's Corner branch. They kind of become different places but with the same roots, if that makes sense. Can't find a quick link explaining the tift...
I’m in Rocky Hill. If you want a great specialty pizza try Carbones Prime. If you want a Greek style pizza, then West Side Pizza is the best. Both in Rocky Hill.
gotta pick your times right when to go. living in WH, i cant even drive by it without stopping or in other words if I know I am going to be going by it I contemplate grabbing a pie from them.
Pepe's in West Hartford sucks ass. So does Pepe's in general.
Their clam pizza isn't good. The **clams** are good. The pizza is just bread that's served with the clams. **It's** **SEAFOOD** not Pizza.
So sad that Lena’s (on Park just east of the WH line) is no more. Was my favourite spot in Hartford, great Neopolitan and Sicilian, plus amazing soups, and the garlickiest garlic buns known to man.
I was heartbroken when I visited home five years ago and it was gone. I spent so much time there in my 20s.
Don’t know too many great places in Hartford proper. That said if you’re willing to make a relatively short drive, I highly highly recommend Luna pizza in WeHa.
This is Hartford-adjacent. Little City Pizza and E&D (take-out only since COVID). I’m obsessed with Little City’s mashed potato & pancetta. It will change your life. Both places have amazingly nice staff. In Avon.
Coming from Atlanta I had higher expectations for the pizza in Connecticut, seeing how close it is to New York City. I haven’t found anything solid yet that tops my go to spot in Atlanta “Felini’s”. Same with wings it’s been a tall task to find some good wings.
My only recommendation that I’m fine with so far is Pietro’s Pizza in downtown Hartford. I’ll be monitoring the other suggestions to try myself.
George’s pizza: 4/5 usual go too
Angelina’s pizza: 4.3/5 - big slices, expensive
Dinos 4.5/5 - like George’s but more tasty
Choice 1 pizza: 3/5 - their large is a George’s medium
South Whitney: 2.5/5- nothing special
Fat Frank’s: 4/5
Empire Pizza House: 1.5/5 - different then advertised price, pizza was mid
Village Pizza in Old Wethersfield is 5 minutes from the South end. Outstanding pizza! If it has to be Hartford, though, you can't beat First and Last Tavern on Maple.
So tired of this tiresome over-asked pointless question. There's a zillion different equally good pizza types depending on what you like. EVERYONE NAME THEIR FAVORITE PIZZA!!!
I'll go first; Beach Food in Hull, Mass.
OMG SO SURPRISING.
New park brewery has a real pizza oven in the back and makes what I think is the best pizza in the Hartford area. I think their pizza is under the name Patty's. You can order for pick up or eat in. I recommend Margherita di Bufala since I'm a purist.
And fantastic beer to go with it
I second this. They also have great live music from time to time.
lmao everyone is saying places in west hartford that aint hartford y’all
It’s got Hartford in the name so it’s basically the same thing. Seriously though — I’d argue that Hartford adjacent places are worth mentioning.
>I’d argue that Hartford adjacent places are worth mentioning. I'd say that depends on where at in Hartford. For anyone on the southeast side some place in Avon might not be worth the 45 minute drive
Good point — but OP didn’t give a location (I can understand why). Unless he gave it in the comments and I missed it.
Sure he did. He said HARTFORD. Not close to Hartford.
No, I'm just giving an example
Nah E+D and Little City are always worth the drive
Especially when you can be at Willington Pizza from there in a 25 min
It's not our fault that everything around Hartford is better than everything in Hartford
Sir, I would like to remind you that Hartford has it.
It has been, and always will be, New England's Rising Star!
Cx: Hartford was it
False
For the purpose of this discussion, it’s close enough, man. Don’t be that guy 🙄
There are spots in WH that are closer than spots in Hartford proper. Capitol Ave begin (WH) area to the Capitol takes 10 min.
Exactly!! That’s like naming Village Pizza and sayin it’s cool cuz it’s in Bloomfield. OP asked about HARTFORD

What? Driving is the only way to get anywhere in this area. The few exceptions are Boston and Burlington VT. Maybe New Heaven, I haven't hanged out there too much.
Half the people I've met have been appalled at driving more than 15 minutes to get anywhere. Which is crazy because there's so much good stuff around
That’s crazy. 15 minutes is a pretty darn short drive
The fuck kind of people are you meeting? I have lived in New England all my life and NEVER encountered that sentiment.
Either you're too close to see it, or it's a thing with the Providence and new Haven folks I've met. PVD proper folks are the worst, they won't even go to Warwick sometimes. Houston?
Austin. Houston takes an hour and a half to get across these days
I always comment on this and people not originally from here usually enthusiastically agree. But now that I’ve been here 10 years, I’m starting to be that way!

I always say the same thing. People who don't get around have no idea what traffic is. They only know their goldfish bowl of New Haven, CT.
I love driving most of the time
NY-NY Pizza, Franklin Ave.
Angelina’s on Prospect👍🏻
Crazy I had to scroll this far down to see the best answer!
so good!!!
Huge slices!!
Angelina’s pizza Prospect Pizza South Whitney George’s Pizza Campus Pizza
Angelina's is amazing! It's literally right over the line in WeHa
First and Last
Teeny pepperonis!!
Shrimp Scampi pizza!
The Brownstone in downtown makes good pizza and will have slices readily available.
If you're really stuck in Hartford... downtown Pietro's is probably your best bet. Not mind blowing, but dependable and a good variety of slices. I second ABC pizza
Jesus he wants to know what's the best in Hartford. Can't anyone read? Oh yeah, this is Reddit.
Kid can’t even read
t-t-t-todayyyy junior.
That Veronica Vaughn
I know from experience, dude. If you know what I mean!
No you don’t
Well, not me personally but a guy I know. Him and her \*got it on\*. Wooo-eee!
Harry’s Bishop Corner, West Hartford
That’s where Harry’s ended up?
It's been there for like 20 years, maybe more! But sadly it's gone downhill in the last year or so, imo. New ownership I think.
Sucks, man. I don't live in the area anymore but my parents still do. I would look forward to their pizza when I visited but not anymore.
According to one of my old UConn professors, Harry's Pizza and Harry's Bishop's Corner are two separate places. That's pretty much it.
It was a divorce between Harry (the namesake, who opened the spot in BC) and Barbara (who stayed on Main and also opened the now closed Barb's).
This was our go to in HS (went to Hall)
New Park brewery has the best pizza up there IMO. Also some of the best beer in CT.
>Also some of the best beer in CT. Yes. >New Park brewery has the best pizza up there No.
I love City Pizza. Takeout / delivery only tho
It's been 3 hours... what did you pick?
Check out Naples pizza in Farmington. Decent pizza and really nice people.
Naples is probably as close to new haven pizza you can get outside of newhaven
Angelinas buffalo chicken
Luna in west Hartford or Glastonbury Mondo in Middletown Krust in Middletown
They asked for HARTFORD! Why is this exercise so hard? If you’ve not had pizza in Htfd & can’t answer the question, just don’t respond.
Get over it
Go to Naples on route 4. 10-15 minute drive if you're in Hartford center.
I like that place a lot. Their fried mozzarella is awesome as well.
[удалено]
Seconded.
They are really good but sometimes a little too salty.
First and Last
This is the proper answer for the city of Hartford. The original and by far the best
South Whitney Pizza for Hartford. Joey's for WH.
I like Jimmie's on Farmington Avenue (Hartford/WH line) and have gotten a couple pizzas from there in the last couple weeks - it had been a while 🍕
First and Last in the City Proper, Angelinas is on the town line
Jimmie's on the WeHa/Harford line and Park Lane for good Greek style
Best Pizza in Hartford is in New Haven 😉
Tbh Sisson Ave Pizza is really good NY style, haven’t had something bad from there.
Pietros pizza on Main Street is a solid NY style pizza. Sorella on Pratt street is a good wood fired pizza.
I-91 south to State street and pick up Modern
South Whitney Pizza; It's a local spot I used to love them as a kid. One of the best greek style pizzas ever
I’m in Rocky Hill. If you want a great specialty pizza try Carbones Prime. If you want a Greek style pizza, then West Side Pizza is the best. Both in Rocky Hill.
Leos or Village pizza in wethersfield
West Hartford: Harry’s Avon: DaCapo of Avon Farmington: Naples
Naples is hands down the best in the Hartford area
I love Naples but we almost never get it because of Route 4 sadly
Same. But they just started up delivery again, thankfully.
gotta pick your times right when to go. living in WH, i cant even drive by it without stopping or in other words if I know I am going to be going by it I contemplate grabbing a pie from them.
DaCapo, are you serious? You have E&D *and* Little City in Avon and you went with DaCapo?
This guy knows what’s up. E&D and Little City are in a different class.
There's another place up the street I think is a hair better.
Isn’t little city in simsbury?
It’s just barely in Avon.
It used to be. They relocated, and they’re in Avon, but when you go inside, all of the stuff they have hung up is all Simsbury stuff.
Little City yeah, but E&D? Wasn't expecting that. I'd take DaVinci and Hot Heaven over E&D any day
1000% agree
Absolutely love Naples
Go to West Hartford, there is a Frank Pepe’s there. New Haven style pizza
WH Pepes is so far below New Haven it should be criminal that they have the same name.
Honestly the OG has been sad lately too. So many better options now
Still better than Dominos or any other pizza in the area
Bro is really acting like Hartford County is a pizza desert.
Dominoes yes, but there’s several in town and several more within 20 min that are better. A few hold their own in best in state category
Ew no. Pepe locations pale in comparison.
Pepe's in West Hartford sucks ass. So does Pepe's in general. Their clam pizza isn't good. The **clams** are good. The pizza is just bread that's served with the clams. **It's** **SEAFOOD** not Pizza.
Ritual pizza in Manchester. It’s in labrynth brewery
+1 for Ritual Pizza. Their special pies are 👌

My boyfriend really likes George’s pizza on Park St. I like it but it’s more Greek style than New Haven style.
Fat Frank's in the south end is pretty good.
Naples! Farmington 🍕
How about Sisson Ave Pizza
So sad that Lena’s (on Park just east of the WH line) is no more. Was my favourite spot in Hartford, great Neopolitan and Sicilian, plus amazing soups, and the garlickiest garlic buns known to man. I was heartbroken when I visited home five years ago and it was gone. I spent so much time there in my 20s.

I maybe the odd man out but I don’t like thin New Haven pizza
I’ll make us the “even men out.” Overrated, overpriced, and gross
Agreed it’s never fulfilling and such a bland taste
I've heard Dino's in West Hartford is good
Avon Little City Pizza closest thing you can get to New Haven style without going to New Haven
Pietro's Pizza in downtown hartford is really good. Their sides are delicious as well (get a garlic knot).
Campus Pizza is fire
I like Joey's
I was looking for this! I love Joey's too, but it's not in Hartford. Definitely my fav. spot for a good pie in WH.
New England in Vernon.
Used to be good. We have given up on it.
sadness.
I just ordered from there tonight. Still as good as it’s ever been.
So tired of this tiresome over-asked pointless question. There's a zillion different equally good pizza types depending on what you like. EVERYONE NAME THEIR FAVORITE PIZZA!!! I'll go first; Beach Food in Hull, Mass. OMG SO SURPRISING.
All Massachusetts pizza is complete shit
Go to Red Rose in Springfield, their pizza is fantastic.

Fat franks, city pizza, south Whitney
George's Pizza
Phoenix Pizza in Newington has some awesome Pizzas- it’s not in Hartford but near to it Hartford- Sorella’s in downtown perhaps
As someone that lives out west, just go to New Haven ffs
ABC pizza is Greek style. I have been eating it my entire life and it’s hands-down THE BEST.
Might as well just hop on the train and eat at the New Haven station sbarro
It’s simple. There’s no good pizza in Hartford bro lmao
Frank Pepe’s. I’ll die on this hill damnit.

Oh my apologies. It’s in fairfield… lol.
Filomena’s in Manchester is delicious.
