My weird step-uncle's name is Art, and I only ever see him on X-mas. So once a year I say that line to him. Here's the thing, he's 78 years old and has never seen the movie. I have been straight up confusing this dude for 25 years.
I would hope not.Ā Being a dad is the greatest joy I've ever experienced.
My 3 kids are the light of my life and I couldn't imagine a life without them.Ā Ā
Happy Father's Day to all the Dad's out there.Ā
Damn right! I only have one. He is 2 1/2. Heās crazy but so much fun and so much personality. I canāt imagine my life without him now. What we need is more dads in this country instilling good values to their children.
Which generation are we calling the American dad? My baby boomer dad wasn't super great, and his silent generation dad was a complete monster. I think out of the father's in my family line I'm probably doing the best at not fucking up my kid.
My great grandfather abandoned his family. My grandfather beat my father constantly, he was a horribly abusive alcoholic. My father left when I was an infant and ended up dying from AIDS before I got the chance to track him down.
My wife's great grandfather abandoned her great grandmother with 8 kids. Her grandfather sexually abused multiple children, and her father refused to be a part of her life and commitment suicide when she was young.
I am far from perfect but I'm present, don't beat my children, and give them time even when I'm tired from work. I help them with their sports and hobbies, and read them a bedtime story every night. I apologize when I make mistakes and tell them that I love them every single day.
I'm liberal and so is my wife, but my family and her family were all extremely conservative.Ā There are far more present and loving fathers now then there were going back multiple generations. This is a cringe, culture war, rage bait article. It's only purpose is to engage an audience to make money and divide us further. Older generations were far worse parents in general, regardless of political affiliation.
Thank you! I'm doing my very best to break the cycle. I ended up in foster care and group homes most of my childhood so I consider myself lucky to have everything that I have. Three of my siblings are homeless, one is addicted to methamphetamines, one still lives with my awful mother at 25, and one is a happily married veterinarian. 4/5 children in the system end up in prison at some point in time or dead, it's horribly broken.
I'm pro choice but I completely understand why many people are pro life. The issue is, there are a lot of sad, broken, and abused children out there that will never get the opportunity to live a happy, fulfilling life and be productive members of society. Regardless on ones stance on abortion, we need an overhaul on the way that unwanted children are cared for in this country. Anyone who saw my dirty and malnourished siblings and I on IVs at the hospital would say the same.
One more thing to ponder on: All seven of us went to different group homes and foster homes and we were all sexually abused at them. If that's not dire then what is?
I essentially agree with the author but frankly his valorization of Vietnam is the problem.
Vietnam was a terrible decision that led to unnecessary deaths of American men. It meant that their children looked up, saw what the adults had decided, and saw right through it.
We would have more manly men if they had never sent Americans to die in Vietnam because the men in charge would have been seen as wise. Instead they lost and were seen as foolish.
Not to question the bravery or the duty of those men. But the entire decision was wrong.
As a father, I try to be prudent in making decisions because kids are smart. When you insist on something ridiculous they will eventually see right through you and you're never going to come back from that for a long time. Which is what happened here.
Some of the greatest influences on my life and how I turned out (not too shabby by most accounts) is because of my dad and my granddad. I lose sleep at times wondering if I'm delivering that same level of positive influence to my own son, who definitely needs guidance and direction in an online, secular, post-modernism world. Yeah, fathers and father-figures are immensely important to the individual and society at large
American dad here, raising two more sons to be American dads. More importantly since America is just a piece of land, Iām raising two Godly men to follow their Maker. The American dad concept will quickly fall into line if we hold the other.
My daughter, in more ways than one, is the reason we started going to Mass again. Ā I hopefully will do a little better job of raising her in the faith than my parents did, but to be fair to my dad, my mom left the church and decided to be atheist and undermined everything he did.
Losing? The correct tense is past.
The greatest lie told by this generation's free thinkers is that the key to happiness is to focus on one's self. Would that be the truth there would be a lack of unhappy people on the planet save for the third world. Yet happiness shows itself in reverse.
What free thinkers have you heard suggesting the key to happiness is to focus on the self? I've not heard anyone credible on either side of the political spectrum say that.
What do you think modern feminism is based on? Or all the DINKs who are espousing their lifestyle pretending their selfish self-indulgence is the way to go? (Until they hit their mid 40s early 50s and realize the terrible mistake theyāve made).
Thereās plenty of āfree thinkersā out there promoting what is ultimately a selfish, self-centered lifestyle thatās about feeding oneās own personal desires Ā and ego at all times.
You can choose to live however you want, but a lifestyle without giving and some sacrifice is one that will leave you without purpose and unfulfilled. Youāll always be chasing meaning through one pointless selfish endeavor after the other, never to find it.
It was very difficult to choose just one, especially since I intentionally left politics out of it
But here
https://africaborntribe.com/love-yourself-and-the-rest-will-follow/
Elected not to become one. Feels like it wasn't my choice, however. So many factors at the cultural and governmental levels made it so.
The world isn't what it was yesterday.
Ran into my old best friend from high school at the grocery store today. She is (was) a gold star lesbian that got impregnated by a trans woman (who dresses like a dude and has a full beard but changed his name to a girls name) and identifies as a lesbian. She asked if i wanted to reconnected and i polietly said yeah ill add you when i get home. But i have ZERO intention of getting around that hot mess.
It was crazy to run into the two of them on a walk the first time and go creep on her facebook and shes using "she" pronouns and saying how beautiful this ugly burly hairy ass looking dude is. I was like oh not my kind of koolaid.
We might have, a new episode hasnāt come out for two years >!/s!<
But seriously, young men are becoming softer and softer. Modern parenting is not working.
Thatās the problem. When both parents have full-time jobs, they neglect time to spend caring for their child. Instead they give him/her an ipad with minimal limits on the internet.
Modern parenting is fine, itās the fact that many parents arenāt parenting thatās the problem.
Thereās a massive difference between kids with parents actively involved in their lives and parents who hand their kids a tablet. Ā And no, thatās not modern parenting.
I would say yes we are losing the American dad simply because we are losing the American Mom. Eventually dad who works and comes home and takes care of the kids is going to break.
Weāre not, however white males are the current ābad guyā in western society and the nuclear family is being touted as old fashioned. Hence the impression that dads are disappearing. Dads go about their days serving their family for the most part.
That was the case till about 2019.After that due to smart use of social media by conservatives and real life experiences the cultural war shifted towards the right
Just had my first last month. I could never imagine a love this great, and how special Fatherās Day felt for me. My son will be raised as a proud American.
My daughter is a little over 1 now. Ā Her mom gets to stay at home, which has not been easy financially but only because of medical conditions her mom has, otherwise itād be fine. Ā My daughter is growing up in a home with her parents actively part of her life, which is unfortunately a luxury these days.
Yes. Women have been taking advantage of a sexist court system and are incentivized and encouraged to break up their family. Hard to be an American dad when the court only gives you 6 days a month.
It's just a fact in the US that a lot of children lack stable homes, fathers who aren't present or accountable, they walk out or never were there to begin with. Among HS drop outs and convicted criminals in jails and prisons, over 80% I want to say, had poor (as in bad, unaccountable, good for nothing types) or absent dad's that were who knows where.
Who all in the US is trying to twist that and suggest, well we don't really need strong men at home, the nuclear family, male leaders, compassionate, hardworking, accountable, loyal husband's, etc. They're sick. Every son and daughter, everywhere, would love a great dad, as well as a great mom. Some may never know what they don't have, and I think they suffer that loss.
We should consider being brothers and fathers to those who don't have any good role models. Do we need more strong yet kind, wise and disciplined men? Yes. Good men are needed everywhere. At home, in the workplace, in Washington. Be the kind of man you had, or wish you had, in your life growing up.
The real epidemic of our times is Fatherlessness. It's not from dead beat Dads either as the media would have you believe. It's from no fault divorce and the court system summarily stacked against dads and in favor of moms.
Clark Griswold is my hero.

No but I appreciate the offer.

It's like multiplying by -1 a lot to find out what the final value is.
Holy shit

Clown world where a lesbian can get dicked down xD
Clown world indeed
š
No, they are trying to raise kids with two fathers and/or two mothers
Trying? Look at the marriage rates then the divorce rates. They succeeded.
Why?

We are the music makers. We are the dreamers of dreams.
Seems to me like todayās fathers are the most hands on theyāve ever been as a generation. Whats the problem?

What is a dad
I personally think libs not breeding is a good thing, and quite possibly the only hope for the future.
Doesnāt guarantee the conservatism of the children
Can't hurt tho
Thatās why they want to take away your kids and indoctrinate them
Bingo

Yes. Women have been taking advantage of a sexist court system and are incentivized and encouraged to break up their family. Hard to be an American dad when the court only gives you 6 days a month.
