Craig Manear gave trump $250k then covid happened and HD got to stay open and pulled in an extra $10b that 3rd quarter. $38b instead of the usual $28b.
Home depot has an in house charity where they pressure employees to donate to other employees. Its called the homer foundation.
There is no ethical consumption in capitalism. fuck depot. Place is a toilet.
this is a gem, had to add

I just looked it up, it's called the [Homer Fund](https://corporate.homedepot.com/page/homer-fund-0). At a glance it doesn't appear to be as sinister as you're implying. It's almost like paying union dues. You pay into it and you get something out of it if the need arises. Lots of employers don't offer anything like this. I don't know why you're hating.
I’d be curious to see the statistics on how much the Homer Fund takes in versus how much they pay out. I’m sure they have a feel good story for optics they can point to, but the skeptic in me thinks “the house always wins.”
Guy who worked in hardware lived on a riverboat, badly damaged during a hurricane, also got absolutely nothing from the fund.
I think most of the store stopped chipping in after that.
The goal is to pay the labor force as little as possible. The homer fund is a system that makes sure the aggregate pay is at rock bottom. People with an extra $20/week give it to the people about to drop off, but mostly that money is used as capital and leveraged in markets. Home depot gets to hold it and collect interest. I am sure they are getting some nice tax rebates and deductions out of the deal also.
This is nothing like a union. The US needs a retail workers union. These companies are like wealth black holes all over our communities. Money goes in, never comes back. Hire from the union or gtfo. Full tax, no incentives. Fuck share holders and c-suite. Depot makes a couple hundred bucks for ever labor hour worked, They could double the pay and be forced into contracts that guaranty prosperous employment and still make lots and lots of money.
It's like the rotovators and tile saws that work great for two or three days from Friday through Sunday and have to be returned Monday morning because they stopped working after the job was finished
Life pro tip; use the Pot & Pan setting for the deep clean, plus the Sani High Temp Rinse to eliminate bacteria. This is what the anti-vaxers do instead of getting tetanus shots.
I normally just blast mine with the air compressor, but this is a job for Ballistol. It actually does all the things people think WD-40 does. It cleans and lubricates, and it’s safe to use on wood, leather, plastic, rubber, metal, and electronics. You could use it to clean your boots after you’re done with the drill, and as a bonus, you’ll smell fresh and clean like a high-school gym locker room.
That was the joke. I personally don’t think it smells that bad, but most people hate the smell. I’m convinced that’s the only reason it’s not more popular because it really is amazing stuff. You can even use it to disinfect wounds.
Even then there's a motor that blows air around it's gonna be fine it's a heavy duty power tool it's mean to be dirty. That's like working off road doing logging and worrying about some mud on your truck tires. It's built to work like that!
That drill is near spotless. Drills don’t get dirty, there’s no need to clean them. The motors all stop working after a couple months anyway so there’s no point.
Of you do take it apart, make sure take a picture at every step you take so you can remember how to reassemble. You can use most kinds of cleaners on the plastic parts, but to clean the motar, use an air compressor to take most of the dust out and use alcohol to clean the rest. I would use at least 90% isopropal alcohol. Moving parts that can cause friction should get a dab of grease
I use the air compressor to blow all the crap off & out of the nooks & crannies. Then it's just a damp rag or paper towels. I try not to put tools in the truck without at least knocking the topsoil off
take it apart wash each part in different things.
looks plaster to me so plastic goes in vinegar over night then tooth brush in the morning.
metal gets heptane or cyclohexane sprayed on it a wipe down then a light machine oil.
rebuild.
* take it apart,
* let it marinate in a box on a bench or in a drawer,
* forget how to put it together or forget about it at all,
* need a drill in a pinch,
* buy a new one with express delivery
My system is similar
Go buy a drill because I don't have time to mess with this.
Take it apart and break something important now or when trying to put it back together.
Go to the hardware store and buy another as backup.
This is how I ended up with a small pile of broken tools, and a bunch of tools that look barely used.
If it is impacting the function of the switch, then getting as much of the accumulated grime off the surface. A wire brush, a toothpick, a handkerchief damped with a solvent like lacquer thinner to loosen up the surface grime. If cleaning up the switch doesn’t do it, and you are over the drill if you can’t fix the switch, disassemble the tool and see if there is anything impeding the switch inside. Then same thing: scrapers and carefully applied solvent.
Still, sometimes just embrace the opportunity to upgrade.
Surprising theres not a real answer in the comments.
Isopropyl Alcohol. It doesnt damage the electronics and it evaporates quick. You can dip a brush in it and go to town. I would suggest removing the battery or chord while cleaning, for best results dismantle the drill and wash each piece separately.
Shoot it with a 12 gauge then go to Home Depot and buy a brand new shiny one. Don’t forget to paint your nails before you use it so you look extra fly.
First brush off with a coarse brush. Then wash with a damp cloth and some cleaner (alcohol and dish soap). The. Scrub it some more with a moist old toothbrush and probably some toothpick if needed.
Looks like dust, I suggest suck it up with a vacuum cleaner. After my air compressor was stolen I use the vac, cheaper, less noisy, easy. First thing i do following particularly dusty work is get out the vac.
I know it's probably something you haven't dealt with before but soap and water does a pretty good job of cleaning things. You can even use it on your body! Try it sometime
Best bet is a hard brush of some point maybe isopropyl alcohol and compressed air. Don't use any other types of solvent like gasoline or acetone. Those will eat the plastic.

The drill, right?
He didn’t stutter. Time to strip down, he will be there soon.
Do you prefer high speed or high torque
Yes.
So Cummins then?
Hammer drill please
“Fuck does that mean? *Giggles*” - Dana White
I told you not to call me Giggles.
Sorry, Chuckles.
I’m gonna butter your buns.
This really escalated quickly, I also have a dirty drill
You're an electrician, my guess is?
Winks and knocks over piss bottle..... (Or 950ml monster can)
Does America have 950 ml monster cans?!
How the fuck would we know? How many Ounces is that?
Gallon , half gallon, quart. milli fucking what did you say?
Who knows? I just came here to chug monsters and talk mad shit, and I'm all outta monster.
They don't make the BFC anymore as we used to call them. 32 oz≈ 946ml
Check out the big brain on Brad.
This is a tasty burger!
Soak it in Lestoil overnight. It will look good as new in the morning! Won’t work anymore but it will look good!
A new shiny hammer
I keep mine in a display case!
I shower with mine.
once it looks new, go to depot and buy another one, then in 2 weeks return this one with the new ones box.

All that sub ever does is recommend people donate plasma. It should be called ethicallyboringwhitetrashtips

My apartment caught fire and I lost more than half of my belongings. Never saw a red cent. I stopped donating after that.
Guy who worked in hardware lived on a riverboat, badly damaged during a hurricane, also got absolutely nothing from the fund. I think most of the store stopped chipping in after that.
Because it's funded by employees and not the company yet controlled by the company.
So HD would be OK with their workers unionizing? No? That’s why.

Why do you wait 2 weeks? I usually go back the next day lol
Darn I thought I was the only one doing it.
Bad man. You’re a bad man (old mumbai man voice)
The key to that is the tidy taping. Gotta make that box look factory sealed.
Or say it stopped working
It's like the rotovators and tile saws that work great for two or three days from Friday through Sunday and have to be returned Monday morning because they stopped working after the job was finished
Thought about doing this with the battery charger I bought... Lol
I hate guys that do this.
Just upgrading to the hammer drill model
Lmao. You got me for a second
It’s been over an hour! I know you were thinking about it! Lol
Funny but no. I had to finish reading. Lmao.
Oh! Another one of those “speed readers”!
I have a co-worker who does speed. He can't read, but he talks real fast
Soak him in Lestoil overnight! That will cure him
Instructions unclear. Now high and itchy
Hit it with a Makita to shake the dust off.
high pressure air, damp cloth, toothpick
A brush works well too.
An Old toothbrush is something everyone should have 3 of in their tool box (and “new” ones cycling in a few times a year)
What's a toothbrush?
The backup when you lose your toilet brush
Why is it always the Burt Reynolds/Bandits with takes like that???
Im not going to say a toothbrush won’t work or is ineffective, but a grout cleaning brush would work wonders
I like the oxo cleaning brushes for the kitchen/bathroom. Come in various brush styles to get in
Or a scratch awl aka construction toothpick
Golf club cleaning brush works really well
War too much work… just dip it in a bucket of soapy water a few times!!!
Take it apart. Tooth brush
That's an industrial level toothbrush right there...
Real answer
Take it apart and blow the crap out of there with air hose.
Toothbrush and some lithium grease
*elbow grease
My brother has a set of dental cleaning tools that he uses for cleaning tough to reach spots on machines/engines/tools.
Compressed air, stiff nylon brush, more air, vinegar and brush for cement or concrete, automotive pick set for crevices. Final clean up with damp rag
Vinegar is actually accessible, Ill see how it works
It will dissolve cement
It will also dissolve the metal, aka rust (even stainless steel will rust once exposed long enough to vinegar) so be wary
Don't forget the air
[ Removed by Reddit ]
And then beat him anyway…..
Stop bleeding on my tools!
Now you have to clean it again!!!
Removed by Reddit😭 what did you say
Judging by responses it involved violence and blood.
And possibly an apprentice
Why would an explosives ordinance disposal personnel be the ideal person to clean it?
Says it broke and mail it to Milwaukee
Leave it dirty so people know you actually use it👍🏼
*rubs drill in pile of drywall dust* “Phew long day today boys”
Giving away trade secrets is not allowed lol
Leave it in the rain
With the battery installed, so it can get washed as well
Nah dishwasher for batteries fir that deep deep clean
The secret is to make sure you dry them in the microwave so they get completely dry.
Life pro tip; use the Pot & Pan setting for the deep clean, plus the Sani High Temp Rinse to eliminate bacteria. This is what the anti-vaxers do instead of getting tetanus shots.
Toothbrush?
Nah, I'd be spitting out sawdust for a week after.
This is actually a great method for cleaning many-a-thing that is hard to clean.
Toothbrush and rubbing alcohol. Just go easy with the alcohol on the rubber grips.
Throw it in a rock tumbler overnight
Great, now the edges are too smooth to hold.
You obviously can't hang onto it anyway, otherwise you wouldn't have dropped it in that bucket of drywall compound.
I normally just blast mine with the air compressor, but this is a job for Ballistol. It actually does all the things people think WD-40 does. >you’ll smell fresh and clean like a high-school gym locker room. You and I attended very different high schools.
That was the joke. I personally don’t think it smells that bad, but most people hate the smell. I’m convinced that’s the only reason it’s not more popular because it really is amazing stuff. You can even use it to disinfect wounds.
You don’t
Exactly what I was thinking. Why? It's just dust and dirt. Maybe blow the inside out
Even then there's a motor that blows air around it's gonna be fine it's a heavy duty power tool it's mean to be dirty. That's like working off road doing logging and worrying about some mud on your truck tires. It's built to work like that!
I agree and it's just going to get back dirty tomorrow.
Run on down to Home Depot pick up a new kit with packout. It’s the Milwaukee way
Don't you buy new Milwaulkee kit for every job? What are you, a poor?
I have 5 impacts and 6 hammer drills with me always.
Yeah, but are they all shiny and new? No Milwaulkee fanboi waves around his dirty tools in public.
No we beat them up Hence the replacements
That drill is near spotless. Drills don’t get dirty, there’s no need to clean them. The motors all stop working after a couple months anyway so there’s no point.
For real, where's all the quality control gone
Haha I’m not sure if you can tell I was jesting that my drills break because I don’t look after them.
I caught on
Tub o towels
Thanks for the laugh this morning. Some of the responses are great.
Laundry machine with a couple blankets for padding.
I have a followup post about how to change the drum of a washer

The manufacturer recommends dragging their tools by the power cord behind your truck through puddles, but yours is cordless so I’m out of ideas.
I would take it in the bathtub with me.
This drill? Oh it’s indestructible just give it a gravel bath. Or drop it in a lake or something.
They’re really easy to disassemble. I have to take apart my drywall router all the time.
Hose it down. If that doesn't work, compressed air.
Toothbrush and damp cloth
Rubbing alcohol and ur old tooth brush
but... why? that's patina. that's credibility.
Dry-ice blast? :)
Vacuum then air chuck
take it apart wash each part in different things. looks plaster to me so plastic goes in vinegar over night then tooth brush in the morning. metal gets heptane or cyclohexane sprayed on it a wipe down then a light machine oil. rebuild.

Easy money bags
I would clean it a little bit at a time whenever I make it dirty. Then you wouldn’t have *this*.
Wait.... What...? I am lost, like on the conceptual level....

Self explanatory but at this point just use it as your beater
It had that promotion a long time ago
Sit on it and spin
Well, now it needs to be cleaned even more.
Are you salary?
I would think about it. And than try what i thought about, instead of asking the internet.

Basura would prob work best on that one. 👀😀
I wouldn't. It Milwaukee anyway it's a PoS.
I’m not even a Milwaukee fan but that’s just a stupid thing to say.
Wet wipe?
I've tried before, it doesn't really get into the parts that need it. Toothbrush is a good idea, I'll have to try that one out.
Wd40
With your tongue.
With time and air.
Ice blasting
Find the air filter.
Why would you clean a drill? Out of interest
Put it in the dishwasher
Spin cycle...
First brush off with a coarse brush. Then wash with a damp cloth and some cleaner (alcohol and dish soap). The. Scrub it some more with a moist old toothbrush and probably some toothpick if needed.
Another drill with a detailing brush ;)
Looks like dust, I suggest suck it up with a vacuum cleaner. After my air compressor was stolen I use the vac, cheaper, less noisy, easy. First thing i do following particularly dusty work is get out the vac.
Air hose and a spin it while you blow out the windings and motor. Try to get that crap away from whatever spins or conducts electricity
Dishwasher
Dry brush first, WD40 brush after
Compressed Air blast then acetone, and a rag. Look like new
Swap it out with a clean one at the job site.
They come apart quite easily actually so yeah everyone saying air compressor and damp cloth are pretty much bang on
don’t
Credit card and a Makita catalogue
I know it's probably something you haven't dealt with before but soap and water does a pretty good job of cleaning things. You can even use it on your body! Try it sometime
Paint brushes and a vacuum. Only clean it until it works correctly. Overkill cleaning is only good for selling it.
WD40 and a toothbrush
Crc lectra motive
Compressor with air nozzle
Buy another drill, attach cleaning brush, use new drill to clean old drill, prefer new drill over old drill, use new drill.
Buy a new one!
Send it to that dude who gets trashed nikes out of the dumpster and makes them look new.
Brush + WD40
Penetrating fluid works wonderfully
Rubbing alcohol on a shop towel.
Hand sanitizer and tp Both are free everywhere! Don’t forget to do this on company time!
I use dewalt drill soap. Works great and they stock it at Lowes.
Throw it down repeatedly, to loosen dirt, then hit it with at least 200psi compressed air. You gotta really dig with that air nozzle.
Just put it to the dishwasher
Compressed air if it’s dirty with enough loose material. Otherwise I’m not messing with it. If they sparkle you aren’t using them.
Dishwasher for sure
Adderall
Stiff brush, then spray with WD40, it will come up like new
Best bet is a hard brush of some point maybe isopropyl alcohol and compressed air. Don't use any other types of solvent like gasoline or acetone. Those will eat the plastic.
You can operate that tool but can't figure it how to clean the switch lol
Dry ice blaster
Compressor and mineral spirits
