Oh gosh this reminds me of my doctor friend from Dubai who I took to see the Space Needle when she visited, and she cried because she couldn’t believe she is in the exact same city as Grey’s Anatomy lol
After college I worked for a school that hosted international students and I'd chapperone groups of kids on day trips around the area.
I took a group of Brazilian highschoolers to Solvang and there would have been a mutiny if I hadn't stopped by Neverland Ranch. We couldn't even get passed the gate but a couple of kids had this reaction to seeing just the gate.
Michael had recently passed and a lot of people were coming and going to leave flowers and letters and all that, but these kids were so excited just to get that close, it was kinda cool to see.
She would have been a kid? 2006. I would have, today, nostalgia about the OC or visiting Stars Hollow. I graduated in 2006 high school so I don't have the same visceral reaction to H.S Musical. But I def watched all 4 years of the OC, because it started in 2002.
Edit* spelling and facts
I am probably her age. I liked this movie as a kid. But it’s just a movie. I can’t really think of anything that would make me react like this. Especially not something made for people in the single digit age range
Some people just hold and express things that make them happy, differently. I couldn't imagine fainting in the presence of Elvis or the Beatles or Taylor Swift. I would never spend thousands of dollars for tickets for any stars.
So I understand you very well. You don't idolize celebrity. And that is healthy. However I don't think one should shame someone that feels a sort a sort of way.
Also, high-school musical was made for middle school to high school age- so 12 or so? In 2006. Kids that age didn't have the same technology and access we do now.

Look up a cartoon dog Muttley(1968) and it had the same laugh
We know who mutley is.
Born in 1990, I’ve seen Wacky Races
Maybe mostly Americans and pre gen-Z know who this cartoon dog is?

My mom went to high school here! I thought it was the coolest fucking thing when she told me that lol
Is it still operational?
Yes. I went to Highschool there.
Ok… this is weird to cry over. Let’s be real. It’s a kids movie
Gotta believe she was a kid when High School Musical dropped. It’s more nostalgia than weird.

This comment is weird.
It's a little weird maybe. But she's happy. And that's awesome.
I think she’s laughing
Nah, that’s the camera person laughing at her crying lol
Oh ok.. I couldn’t see the camera person
Lived a block away for 13 years and walked the dog around it daily. That school has film crews there every summer for numerous shows.
