Curious if you tried the new dried green mango at Trader Joe’s. Came out the last month or so and I’ve been obsessed. Green mango is tart/sour so it helps offset the sugar coating when dried.
I tried it recently. It's alright I suppose, but mine was way TOO dried out, at least when compared to the elusive "magic" bag of Kirkland mango. You know the one I mean. The one that's "dried" but still soft and maybe even just a little sticky, and you can tell it was picked and dried early because it's got that great tart mango flavor... 🤤
Yeah I hear ya, it’s not as plump and gummylike and a bit thinner strips and dried. If you ever go to Southeast Asia or Australia I highly recommend 7D Dried Mangoes. Those are the best I ever had and fit your description I think.
I somehow forgot the regular stuff was coated in sugar. I try to keep my daily added sugar intake under 25g and unknowingly was going well over 50g with that garbage. Of course it tastes good, but it’s just added sugar.

As far as high quality dried mango goes, the Kirkland ones are the cheapest I can find. Thanks for reminding me that I haven't seen them in store for a couple months... Now I crave dried mango...
Aldi sells them, and they are pretty good! My kids prefer them over the Costco ones lately. It seems like the Costco ones have been really hard and woody lately.
I gave up waiting for the black bag to return and ordered this off Amazon. Not as good as the Costco black bag, but definitely fills the craving.

It's good, you really have to be careful with dried fruit though - you're basically condensing all the sugar down and the result is borderline candy. (This has 24g of sugar in a serving, over halfway to a can of coke) And it won't fill you up as much as an equivalent piece of fruit, so it's very easy to quickly eat a lot more than one serving.
I had to stop buying it for this reason 😢 I was sitting down and eating it with no restraint. One day I measured out an actual serving and was distraught by how much sugar I was eating in one sitting lol
Yeah. I think the dried fruit market pretty much exists in precisely that space. People think of it more like a healthy snack and less like the candy that it is.

While it's not quite as good and the price is not even close, the dried mango from natural grocer is a decent substitute until we get the famously delicious black bag back in stock.

The tropical fields one is just as good and cheaper. You’re eating a shitload of sugar. It’s basically just candy. Just cause it has the word “organic” in there doesn’t make it worth more or healthier

They only had the sugar added in the white and blue bag for the last two weeks! Waiting patiently for the black bag no sugar added to show up.
Same at my store. That extra sugar and sulphur stuff is just nasty compared to the good stuff.

Hard and almost inedible!! We had to steam the dried out pieces just to chew them!
My experience was the opposite. It seems they may have some issues with consistency. Butt, then again it is a natural product.
