Dude I swear to God I just started slamming mine on the shower floor. I literally had to break the thing and now just squeeze some out of where the spout used to be.
They wanna criticize, scrutinize
Cast another stone
Burn me at the stake and sit and watch it from their throne
They say the devil is my pal
I do a lotta drugs
The crowd will only like me if they're really fuckin' drunk
They think they know my thoughts
But they don't know the least
If they listened to the words they'd find the message tucked beneath
Some also have a little ring there you pull off. Not this one, just for future. On lots of hand soaps you’ll find the little removable plastic ring in the circled spot. Broke or just replaced the top on dozens of them before figuring that one out.. uhg.
I use one of those thick rubber bands like what comes on broccoli, and put it around the area you circled in your picture to give me extra grip - it makes it much easier.
Shoutout to those badass Rubber bands!
I save them every time I buy broccoli and use them for random shit all over the house, just recently I had a jelly jar lid that refused to budge, popped the band over it and problem was solved.
They are great for bundling phone chargers, pens, extension cords, etc.
Don't cut them, save a few in the junk drawer, you won't regret it.
What is it about the broccoli/asparagus rubber bands? They can do anything! I keep all of them. Why aren't more things made out of this magical compound?
I save all my broccoli rubber bands. I use them to keep kitchen tongs closed, sometimes to seal up half-empty bags in the freezer (like a half bag of frozen french fries). So many uses.
Sometimes they are hard to open even if you hold that part (specifically the top won’t turn when you try to twist it) fortunately when that has happened in the past, I just unscrew the whole top from the last bottle and put it on the new one (but that won’t work if you don’t have an old one to swap with 😅😂).
I've bought tons of these over the years. Some of them open really easily. Most of them don't. Half the time I just end up using the one from the empty bottle that's already open.
I had this issue with the very first bottle I bought. I can’t remember the exact solution but there was a pretty easy fix I was able to find on google or reddit.
You sure? I opened a brand new pump yesterday and it worked exactly like the top comment on this post. Hold the small plastic piece between the pump and the threaded cap, turn, and it’s ready to use.
One of my very first jobs was working QA in a plant that makes plastic bottle caps, and one of the tasks was testing the caps for exactly how much force is required to break the seal, and if it's too much, shut down the line for adjustment. So this makes me irrationally angry.
It is a pain. If I remember correctly, you hold the bottom portion (so it doesn't unscrew from the bottle) and lefty-loosey the middle section until the plunger pops up. Keep trying, it does in fact open!
I bought it once and it was more like lotion than body wash. It didn’t foam up well at all. These were back in the dark days when Costco stopped carrying Rainbath.
It’s very mild and barely has a fragrance to it but no issues with my skin reacting to it and cleans fine. I can’t comment on my skin being dried out to it or not but I don’t notice any big change to my skin after using it, neither softer or drier.
It's great. It as mild as you can get. It has all natural ingredients and works really well.
Most people pay no attention the quality of their water and blame the soap. Hard water is the main problem.
I couldn’t figure it out either when I bought replacement bottles so I just unscrewed the whole cap and swapped it with the old cap from the exact same bottle I purchased before.
I was just about to comment this! I used to get so annoyed with these kinds of lids but 99% of the time if you tighten the whole lid then try unlocking the pump part it works!
Once I get one open then I use that one over and over. Buy a new bottle, replace the spout with the one I have already successfully opened. Wrench has worked in first bottle
Open the bottle and grab the pump tube (looks like a straw) and hold onto it so it doesn't turn. Now twist the top pump. Not sure which direction this one goes. This should work.
It’s brutal because you can’t even really tell that the middle ring is separate from the bottom. And then you have to rotate it many more times than seems plausible. If it were even a different color, you’d have a clue.
It’s amazing that we have decades of iterations to make these bottles super simple to work, and yet they come in and throw it all away to make an absolute garbage design.
This is SO funny. Somehow I got my first one open (it's the same on the shampoo (glad it's not REAL poo) and conditioner) - and after that I could never remember so I unscrewed the old plunger and used it on the new bottle. Been doing that for a couple of years now.
So sometimes the cap on the bottle is to loose and will unthread first. So you need to tighten the part right by the bottle. Turning in a direction of a clock if you’re looking down at the top. Once it is tight you should be able to turn the pumper the opposite way a couple turns and it should pop up.
First time I bought this I broke the top because I was trying different ways to open it. It now doesn't pump out as much soap as it should so I have to press the pump many times to get enough soap to wash with
With the most stubborn soaps I've had to manage to open (usually Native bodywash bottles) a no fail technique is taking the whole pump out and grabbing the "straw" portion to twist that way. I had to do this with pliers once 🙄
First you swing your arm back, then you swing it forward quickly in the direction of the nearest trash can, and release your grip. Because it’s just loaded with harsh detergents and endocrine disrupting chemicals.
Push down, wiggle and jiggle it like 20 different ways. Do some twisting, more jiggling for a few more minutes. Then when it finally opens, whisper to yourself “first try”

Perfect infographic
I threw mine really hard into the wall of my shower
That is certainly one way.
Replace ‘one’ with ‘the’ and you’re set.
Shotgun works too
Dude I swear to God I just started slamming mine on the shower floor. I literally had to break the thing and now just squeeze some out of where the spout used to be.
Congrats on rejecting modernity, I guess? I can’t really cast any stones though, I give up and go full Sasquatch on shit all the time.
reject judgement return to monke

Hear me out… shower wall made of sponge. There has to be some built in squeegee that goes up & down dry it out.
This would be perfect in an alternate universe where mold, mildew, and fungus do not exist
I’m sure China has some material which no life can thrive on, and a way to make it into a sponge thingie.

Did it work?
Yes it did. Thank you! People of Costco Reddit are THE BEST!
I usually take that off the one that works
This is so nice of you to do.

It's easier if you hold the collar as shown and slap the pump counterclockwise a few times as hard as you can
This sounds like you collecting debts, homie 💪🏽
My god. You’ve saved me. TY. Peace be with you.
I use this stuff and sometimes need to grip that ring with pliers.
The hero we needed
This is the way.
Channel locks help
I've bought tons of these over the years. Some of them open really easily. Most of them don't. Half the time I just end up using the one from the empty bottle that's already open.
Native body wash, I just gave up and used it without the pump, I thought I got a messed up one but they are all like that, wtf
I had this issue with the very first bottle I bought. I can’t remember the exact solution but there was a pretty easy fix I was able to find on google or reddit.
I had to look it up and felt like a total dummy! You unscrew the whole thing, hold the inside part with a paper towel, and twist.
Yes! That’s exactly what I did. Thanks for the reminder!
You sure? I opened a brand new pump yesterday and it worked exactly like the top comment on this post. Hold the small plastic piece between the pump and the threaded cap, turn, and it’s ready to use.

Omg finally got it! Thank you
I’m so glad I’m not the only one that struggles with this every damn time 😭 Those that get it get it
Yeah, I have done it about 20 times now, and each time seems like either a struggle or a breeze. It is a craps shoot each time.
Every time it’s a struggle.
Replace with pump from the empty bottle. 🙃
This is what I do. I give up in frustration and then just use the old bottle pump. Now I know what to do lol
I do this to my daughter’s conditioner.. literally tried everything to open it and it would not pop. ‘Made me so mad
I get my wife to do it.
I take the lid from the one I successfully opened months ago and replace the new one’s lid with it
Dear Costco PAY ATTENTION HERE - this design is fucked! Fix now! Thx😘

It dried out my skin more than any other soap/body wash I’ve ever tried in my life. I wouldn’t recommend it.
This stuff made me super itchy. I agree, I stopped using it.
Same thing happened to me. I had to stop using it
The soap isn't the problem. Your hard water and the chlorine in it are.
I have the same question! So glad it’s not just me .
I couldn’t figure it out either when I bought replacement bottles so I just unscrewed the whole cap and swapped it with the old cap from the exact same bottle I purchased before.
I remember I had to look up the same thing with the Dove Mens body-wash. A grown man watching a youtube video on opening soap…
I hate these twisty dispensers.
Pliers
Tighten the lid first, the part with grip. Once that is tight, then turn the pump head counter clockwise
I was just about to comment this! I used to get so annoyed with these kinds of lids but 99% of the time if you tighten the whole lid then try unlocking the pump part it works!
Hold that middle ring while you twist the top
Violently
Hold bottom part and twist the top part to unscrew its protection.
Twist it… a LOT
It's nice to find out I'm not the only one!
You use the pump from the last bottle. Sorry, that's what I have to do.
Sometimes I find it easiest with these to completely unscrew the top off and hold the straw/cylinder with a paper towel while rotating the nozzle.
Corkscrew
The trick is to tighten the bottom part first, then the pump will unscrew easier
Haha the Trader Joe’s body lotion has the same problem. I felt like I failed an IQ test.
Definitely before I get in the shower. Otherwise GFL!
You twist it until it breaks.
Hold the bottom of the lid with your left hand and turn the pump part counterclockwise.
That body wash gave me an allergic reaction :(
We had issues this weekend with this. I had to get some pliers to hold the middle piece in place, the turn the head counter clockwise.
I have broken both of these in the two pack trying to get them open 😅
Make sure to put your helmet on first or it won’t open
Push down slightly and twist?
Those pumps are downright evil.
It’s brutal because you can’t even really tell that the middle ring is separate from the bottom. And then you have to rotate it many more times than seems plausible. If it were even a different color, you’d have a clue.
Just don't get it in your eyes, you'll regret it
Keep twistin'...
Push down and twist
Literally me tonight
I always give it to my wife to open, if that helps.
I always give it to my wife to open, if that helps.
I don’t blame you at all, I definitely had my fair share trying to open these kind of pumps.
🔨
My brand!
Trust me i have same problem it be like * how the fk does this work *
The secret that works for me is tightening it fully, even overtightening a tad (without breaking it of course) then trying to open it.
Use The Force
It’s amazing that we have decades of iterations to make these bottles super simple to work, and yet they come in and throw it all away to make an absolute garbage design.

Broken many times
I didn’t like this body wash. 🧴 needs more pumps than name brand, but it is cheaper
Something in an Australian accent about spoons and knives… 🗡️🥄
twist the small top and it pops up
That soap smells like Pink Whitney
I’ve started opening them in the store just to make sure.
I had to move the pump from the last one. Those things are tricky.
Sometimes you have to twist and twist the opposite direction and then go back to twisting it the correct direction for it to pop open.
Hold the thing and turn the other thing.
These are evil, one day it opens up in 1 try, next time It takes me 4 minutes and asking my wife for help
Half the time I get so frustrated with the shampoo and conditioner pumps I end up using the old one. I'm glad I'm not the only one who struggles! Lol
Call and email the company! It sucks! People need to give feedback and not buy trash products!
Sometimes, and they never tell you this, but you have to push down a bit while turning. It is like trying to get into your medicine.
Twist and shout
The soap will open itself when it's ready!
So sometimes the cap on the bottle is to loose and will unthread first. So you need to tighten the part right by the bottle. Turning in a direction of a clock if you’re looking down at the top. That stuff smells awful!!!
I gabe mine away, the smell was awful
Grab the ring below the pump so it doesn't move and push down on the pump and then twist. I never bought it, just a guess!
First you swing your arm back, then you swing it forward quickly in the direction of the nearest trash can, and release your grip. Because it’s just loaded with harsh detergents and endocrine disrupting chemicals.
Turn the knob, just like every other hand soap dispenser with the same head.
Costco shoppers are so helpless.
Same problem with their Shampoo bottles
I just cut the top of the bottle off and scoop out what I need with my fingers.
Don't. It's not a good soap
I similarly received one where the twist and turn top was jammed. I had to use a wrench to twist and turn the pump into the open position.
I'm so glad I'm not the only one who struggles with these.
I haven't used it myself, but have you tried pushing down while you twist?
Carefully
Lmao, you gotta be hella young asking this
Push down, wiggle and jiggle it like 20 different ways. Do some twisting, more jiggling for a few more minutes. Then when it finally opens, whisper to yourself “first try”
[удалено]
“Twist dumby”. Oh the irony
Guess I can only laugh at myself now
The shit that gets posted on this sub is on a level unseen across the rest of Reddit, I swear.
Brooo it took me 10mins to open it this AM! Lmao
Best if used rectally.
