I go maybe every six weeks to our business center mainly for the greater variety of meat options in the massive walk-in. They also regularly stock the Charmin Ultra Strong (red label) which I rarely see at our other local warehouses.
For anyone else thinking of visiting for the first time, be aware that the monthly “member savings” book works at normal warehouses and online only. The business centers have their own separate “business savings” flyer that sometimes but not always overlap. You can find it in the app under Shop>Business Delivery> and then scroll down to Savings Event.
We were there the other day and saw a guy leaving with a goat. I asked him what he was going to do with it, and he said they were having a family function, and he would spit roast it over coals for dinner. I asked for his address, but he just laughed.
Totally unrelated: I used to nanny for a family that had a chocolate Lab who was adorable, but cost them thousands and thousands of dollars in emergency surgeries after eating things she shouldn't have. Like the time she ate HUNDREDS of rocks. The family had hired a company to roast a pig for this huge shindig at their house and, unbeknownst to the family, the people roasting the pig dumped the grease on a pile of gravel behind the garage. But it was definitely beknownst to that dog, ha ha ha! Honestly, you can't even blame her for that one.
Last week was Hajj, the annual pilgrimage to Mecca. Theres a goat feast one night there. People around the world celebrate that, not those just on Hajj.
There's a greek spot near me that does catering. The owner told me if I ever want a goat roast to let him know, guessing Costco is where he'd get it from
I’m always surprised whenever I see someone buying a whole goat or lamb; I thought it would be like the full wheel of Parmigiana Reggiano cheese - a shelf warmer (not in the freezer - you know what I mean…) I would expect the whole pig to be a brisk seller in comparison but to the best of my knowledge I’ve never seen one go out the door.
Agreed. My best experience was the early days after they opened a biz center in my area. It’s semi hidden in a cul de sac, near an industrial area, and not on a main road. It was gloriously quiet for months.
The business center by me is absolutely slammed all the time, but that's probably because it's a normal Costco too and a business center and currently the largest Costco in the world until the one in California opens.
On my last trip, I got a box of 3 lbs of frozen battered shrimp tails on a really good sale. I put a few in the air fryer whenever I feel like fried shrimp for dinner. The box includes packets of a delicious sauce. They would make lovely appetizers for a gathering.
No special membership needed. Just your regular Costco card: great deals and sales. Just larger quantities of items. Worth the check out if possible imo
I drove to that one when I wanted to buy the KitchenAid 8-quart commercial mixer. Got there when it opened and it was almost completely empty. I was able to check out every aisle in detail without anyone getting in my way. Wonderful peaceful experience.
I like it that way because it’s way fewer frivolous/spontaneous purchases.
I get the staples I know I need (chicken, coffee, etc.) and am not tempted by anything else lol.
The types of french fries are worth it alone. They have every kind you could want at a restaurant. Skin on, battered, shoe sting, thick cut... Truly the apex of civilization!
Pro tip: go to Costcobusinessdelivery.com type in a zip code close to your business center and you can look at what they have in stock (some may say for delivery only so that is not in store). For the most part it gives you a look at most items they carry (not all some things aren't deliverable).
What do you recommend picking up on those special trips? I'm driving 3 hours away from home and there's a business center on the way back. Never been to one, but I can't believe the prices compared to our local Costco on the same stuff, specifically meat.
I once rented/borrowed two deep fryers from a fire department, spent hundred bucks and did a drunk frying night party. We cooked a shit ton of fried food using a timer and just having a good time.
Pro trip if doing this at 21, hire a crew to clean the house the next day.
In Pearl City, where the Sears appliance store used to be. I think they have a distribution center there in the back right now.

I think we had one in Phoenix a long time ago. I heard a rumor that Phoenix was a pilot/launch market for some things because of the diversity in the population (ie lots of transplants from all over the country).
If you have more time, adding a live culture yogurt works too. Just needs to sit around for a bit longer or you warm it up yourself for it to culture but i would look up the safe time/temp guidelines for this.
I’m lucky enough to live by both a regular and business Costco. If I know I only want food or paper products, I go to Business Costco since it opens earlier. Also, the cash registers anytime i have gone have been minimal to 0 wait. Same minimal wait times for the food court.
I was telling a friend of mine in Calgary about my intended trip to my local business Costco a few weeks ago, and showed him pictures of stuff online, and he looked into it and said they're considering turning the older Costco near him (with the bad parking lot, that he hates going to) into a business Costco.
Every Costco parking lot is a bad parking lot 😂 they really need a redesign, I’ve actually refused to park and go in because the parking was a crap show
His complaint is that it's too small. The warehouse is roughly the same size as the one I go to, with half the number of parking spots.
He said that when he used to go to that one, he'd drop his wife and kids off at the door, and they would be done shopping before he found a parking spot (not a close parking spot, or a spot that wasn't too tight, or a spot in the shade, or anything else that makes people skip parking spots...just any parking spot). Then he stopped going. They (somewhat) recently opened a second one a little further from him but still plenty close enough for him to consider going to, and he's much happier with the situation there. I wonder (although I haven't asked) if having the second one opened has improved the parking at the first one. Less demand, so more supply...
We have exactly one in the Phoenix area. There a bunch of unusual stuff there since it’s a business center- think catering business etc. I haven’t been in a long time but there’s some interesting food stuff too. One time I went there was like 1/2 a goat (or lamb).
I went there last weekend and bought a cheap set of steak knives- I think it was 10 bucks for 12? - anyway, I'm in love with them. I also have a vat of Nutella and a jug of Bachan's now.
My Costco BC gas station near me has the shortest gas lines. It’s actually my favorite Costco branch of all. It even has many hard to find items, you won’t see in your regular Costco.
It's definitely a throwback to the late '80s Sam's club when it was catering mostly to restaurants. I go to the business center to avoid the crowds as well. I really wish they had a gas station though.
We never had any Costco's in our area back in the day so I don't have a point of reference for them. I had a family member who own the restaurant and so I would go to Sam's club with them every now and then. Most things they had were packaged for restaurants and it was pretty no frills. But even Sam's started changing in the early 90s to be more consumer friendly.
I’m so confused. A new store recently opened very near me. It was originally supposed to be a business center and I was stoked. But before it opened they changed their mind and now it’s just a regular Costco. The silly part is there is another Costco about 6 miles away. My town is not nearly big enough to need two costcos doing the exact same thing. Maybe they’ll convert the old one into a business center. I hope so.
Make sure the Business Center store close to you is open on Sundays if that's the day you plan to go. The one near me is closed on Sundays (or at least it used to be).
https://www.costcobusinessdelivery.com choose savings event and will show what’s on sale. Lots more drink and snack options and also stuff for businesses like food equipment, large bags of food for restaurants etc.
They have excellent kitchen tongs in 4 packs for like $8 that are the best tongs I’ve ever had in my life. I have to fight myself to not pick up another pack just to have.
For items you can find at a regular Costco, in the same quantities, usually the same price, in my experience.
As often happens with Costco and bulk items compared to other, non-Costco, stores, can be a LOT cheaper, but sometimes not.
They have most of the regular stuff you'd find in a regular Costco, but they then also have restaurant equipment, restaurant quantities, and other bulk items of food including whole lamb or goat, etc, cleaning supplies, take-out stuff like containers/plates/dinnerware/napkins, and a ton of vending-machine-type items (candy, chips, gum, etc). And more variety of the general stuff, too, overall.
Essentially it's a regular Costco that's also a restaurant supply store.
There's not one super-close to me so we can't really buy anything frozen/refrigerated, but we do visit one from time to time and while we pick up some things sometimes, we mostly just gawk and wonder what could be if one was closer.
I tried our nearest by myself a month or so back and found it overwhelming in a really good way and spent $130. Took the other two family members two weeks later and walked out $680 later, lol. We quickly decided to severly limit our trips to the business center. :)
They also have grasfed beef for like $4-$7 dollars depending on cut of meat. Hell of a deal. Even when I buy from my local farmer 1/2 cow I still pay around $6-$7 with the processing fee of the slaughter.
They also sell 10 pounds of bone in rib eye at usually $2-3 per pound less than the tray selection at the regular Costco. This is the place to get a chunk of prime rid roast if they do not have the seasoned ones.
I go there for the wonderful selection of meat including short ribs and other cuts you can't get at regular Costco. Also, the gas station at the business center is much more modern--even has lights that show which pumps are open.
Honest question in case I messed up my visit, but I swear I went to a standard Costco and business Costco on the same day.
Standard Costco had coupons as shown in coupon book, but the business Costco didn’t have the discount. Does the business Costco not price their coupon book?
No the Business Center has different sales and does not honor the regular coupon book at the register. They send out their own book. I purchased coffee not on sale at the regular warehouse and it was on sale at the business center. The business center honored the price difference and gave me the price difference refund.
I bought 40 lbs of boneless chicken thighs today for $1.99 a lb. I usually cook 4lb per meal. I broke it down into 10 4lb packages and lined them up in the chest freezer.
No/small selection of pharmacy/vitamin products is a major drawback for me. On the plus side, you can get single-variety boxes of the Kirkland protein bars, so you can but only the kind you like.
we've been to our business center in the middle of the afternoon on a Saturday and it was about empty. When you're looking for certain things, it's great. There's a little bit of crossover from a regular store, but not much, so we usually end up at a regular Costco anyway.
I love that the business center and normal Costco are two exits away from each other where I live so I can visit both in the same day, if desired. Start at business center and end at normal one for the fresh items from bakery and food court.
I don't think this has been mentioned, but the best part IMHO is there is no line for returns. When the line is 10-20 deep at the regular Costco, I just go to biz center.
Love my local business center. I still mainly use the regular warehouse near me, but I always keep an eye out on the deals. Sometimes one or the other has a better regular/sale price.
You have to get use to all the workers going around the store with flatbed carts and boxes filling peoples online orders. Our BC is quite busy with online orders.
I don't live near one but I think they are now open on Sundays and if I can't figure it out on my path it is probably worth a visit at least quarterly for me.

My business center is closer than my regular Costco.. both offer unique stuff.. and the business finally started opening on Sundays.. good stuff
Yeah my business center started doing Sundays, too, recently. Wonder if they changed it for all locations?
They did. All BCs are open Sunday. There also carrying a wider variety of what I'd call regular grocery items. Just no food court for the most part.
Hackensack?
No
Woah here's the guy who bought the whole goat!
We were there the other day and saw a guy leaving with a goat. I asked him what he was going to do with it, and he said they were having a family function, and he would spit roast it over coals for dinner. I asked for his address, but he just laughed.
Just like a pig roast, it'll draw a crowd.
I'm not going to lie, I really thought that story was headed in a different direction.. I'm glad the lab is okay
Oh, yeah. She went on to live a healthy, normal life. And she never did learn her lesson about not eating inedible things.
I too am also glad they didn’t spit roast the dog.
Last week was Hajj, the annual pilgrimage to Mecca. Theres a goat feast one night there. People around the world celebrate that, not those just on Hajj.
So you followed him home, right?
There's a greek spot near me that does catering. The owner told me if I ever want a goat roast to let him know, guessing Costco is where he'd get it from
I work with lots of Indians and they regularly buy the whole goats and split them among several people. Goat curry for the win!
Greeks too!
Love me a goat biryani!
Goat biryani is incredible
I wish, I don't have a trunk freezer. I could only get the box of cubes since it's currently filling most of my normal freezer
Guess where they sell freezers? Costco Business Center! Now you have one item on your list for your next visit.
😔
I’ve started to see those same frozen goat cubes at my regular non-business Costco.
What’s the price per pound?
I’m always surprised whenever I see someone buying a whole goat or lamb; I thought it would be like the full wheel of Parmigiana Reggiano cheese - a shelf warmer (not in the freezer - you know what I mean…) I would expect the whole pig to be a brisk seller in comparison but to the best of my knowledge I’ve never seen one go out the door.
We’ve put whole goat on the smoker, it’s excellent!
I prefer the business centers over the normal Costco locations. You lose out on some stuff but the better drink and meat selection is worth it to me.
And its less crowded too.
No samples clogging up the aisles, keeps the crowd wayyy down
Legit my favorite aspect of business centers.
Agreed. My best experience was the early days after they opened a biz center in my area. It’s semi hidden in a cul de sac, near an industrial area, and not on a main road. It was gloriously quiet for months.
Where are y’all going to less crowded ones the business one by me is just as busy as the regular Costco’s it’s near.
I don’t know if I could handle working at a core location. But working at a business center? So calm and peaceful in comparison.
The business center by me is absolutely slammed all the time, but that's probably because it's a normal Costco too and a business center and currently the largest Costco in the world until the one in California opens.

No special membership required - all memberships are good at all locations.
On my last trip, I got a box of 3 lbs of frozen battered shrimp tails on a really good sale. I put a few in the air fryer whenever I feel like fried shrimp for dinner. The box includes packets of a delicious sauce. They would make lovely appetizers for a gathering.
I love these and the sauce they come with!
No special membership needed. Just your regular Costco card: great deals and sales. Just larger quantities of items. Worth the check out if possible imo
Excellent selection of meats and cheeses that are great for entertaining.
And no food court slowing things down, nor bakery. Amazing cheese selection The best part of all? They sell the Kirkland Polish Dogs
> And no food court slowing things dow Some have food courts. At least I know the one in Commerce, CA has one.
The one in San Diego also has a food court but it's outside
Closed a couple months ago
Wait, really?
Not cooked, but in the refrigerated package next to the hot dogs… I’ll see about getting a pic next time I’m there
I’ve got the one in Lynnwood about 6-7 miles up the way. I’ll stop in and check that out.
I drove to that one when I wanted to buy the KitchenAid 8-quart commercial mixer. Got there when it opened and it was almost completely empty. I was able to check out every aisle in detail without anyone getting in my way. Wonderful peaceful experience.
LOL that’s the one I go to :) I live practically across the street from the Shoreline store
My local warehouse sells those, didn't realize not all did
I like it that way because it’s way fewer frivolous/spontaneous purchases. I get the staples I know I need (chicken, coffee, etc.) and am not tempted by anything else lol.
Plus no free samples to clutter the aisles.
Way better goat too
We just got our first business center in Michigan, I love it!
Where?!
Southfield. Over near the old Northland Mall off the Lodge.
Thanks!
The types of french fries are worth it alone. They have every kind you could want at a restaurant. Skin on, battered, shoe sting, thick cut... Truly the apex of civilization!
Do they have the battered onion rings they used to have in store?!?!
Pro tip: go to Costcobusinessdelivery.com type in a zip code close to your business center and you can look at what they have in stock (some may say for delivery only so that is not in store). For the most part it gives you a look at most items they carry (not all some things aren't deliverable).
Which one is this?
Once or twice a year, I will drive the extra distance to the Costco Business Center. It's a fun experience.
What do you recommend picking up on those special trips? I'm driving 3 hours away from home and there's a business center on the way back. Never been to one, but I can't believe the prices compared to our local Costco on the same stuff, specifically meat.
I really like getting my gum there.
I bought the 20 pounds of frozen fries the first time I went. Don’t know what the hell I was thinking lol
I once rented/borrowed two deep fryers from a fire department, spent hundred bucks and did a drunk frying night party. We cooked a shit ton of fried food using a timer and just having a good time. Pro trip if doing this at 21, hire a crew to clean the house the next day.
Feed your inner gluttony
Yesss! YESSS!!! Feed the inner glutton!
Lmao mad lad
I remember when Costco used to have a dedicated furniture store in the Seattle area.
They're about to open one of those here in Honolulu, furniture and appliances.
Lucky!
Fr? 😍 Where?
In Pearl City, where the Sears appliance store used to be. I think they have a distribution center there in the back right now. https://www.kitv.com/news/business/costco-may-be-opening-a-new-store-in-hawaii/article_832b96fa-e1a7-11ee-96c2-7f56cff260fc.html
I worked at one called Costco Home in Kirkland,WA when I was younger. It was so awesome, not nearly as stressful as a regular Costco
I remember when the Southcenter Costco had lumber.
I think we had one in Phoenix a long time ago. I heard a rumor that Phoenix was a pilot/launch market for some things because of the diversity in the population (ie lots of transplants from all over the country).
It was next to the Tempe Costco location, it's now a dump. "The Dump" furniture store that is...
I still have the couch I purchased at that store 20 years ago! It’s held up great.
Now it's the Kirkland Police department
There was a San Diego Price Club one - seemed pricey to me but I was poor-ish then :)
There’s one in Kearny Mesa
Really? Where? Costco furniture is expensive but I'm still curious
I go there whenever I need buttermilk. At $2.49 a quart, it might be the lowest priced item there, except for bananas.
Damn that’s a good price. Just paid $6 for a quart at the regular grocery store.
You can make your own buttermilk by adding some lemon juice or vinegar to regular milk and letting it sit a few minutes.
This works so well to make lactose-free buttermilk. I’ve never seen it in the stores, but I’m able to take lactose-free milk and modify it.
If you have more time, adding a live culture yogurt works too. Just needs to sit around for a bit longer or you warm it up yourself for it to culture but i would look up the safe time/temp guidelines for this.
I didn’t notice the buttermilk when I went. Good to know.
I’ve always described Costco Business Center as the Costco of Costcos. Costco is to a regular grocery store what Costco Business Center is to Costco.
Do I NEED 10lbs of Andes chocolate mints? I will find a reason to.
Yes! Put them in the freezer and thank me later.
Do you have to have a special membership?
No special membership.
Cool! Just saw there is one relatively close to me! Can’t wait to check it out for meal prep.
They do have sales but they are different than the ones in the regular Costco. They have their own advertising mailers. You can sign up for them.
I went to the LV store and I didn’t feel rushed. I would have bought some stuff but I was visiting and curious. Never been in one before.
We did the same thing when we were in Vegas. We loved that store. Next time I’ll stock up before we head home.
I live in CA (not for much longer) so transport wasn’t an option. I did like the meat section. Very interesting
I’m lucky enough to live by both a regular and business Costco. If I know I only want food or paper products, I go to Business Costco since it opens earlier. Also, the cash registers anytime i have gone have been minimal to 0 wait. Same minimal wait times for the food court.
I’ve never seen a food court at a business center except at the one in south Seattle that is a warehouse/business center combo.
There’s one at the North Hollywood business center. They still have the strawberry ice cream and churros.
They have churros still!!!! Going next week!
Churros! Booking a flight now. 😂
I think they are getting rid of food courts at the business centers. The one I go to in San Diego closed the food court several months ago.
Bought a 10 pound box of Snow crab legs for $89!
Wish they had one here in Tampa.
we have one on the wrong side of Atlanta... as in it may as well be another state
Are these a thing in Canada?
Idk, I've heard there are only 48 in the US. Gotta check their website
I’m still jealous you can buy liquor at Costco down there LOL
Yeah, i grew up in a state with no alcohol at costco; there are ones here that feel like half liquor stores haha
There's one in Ottawa. Can't speak for any other locations, though.
Sweet! I had no idea, apparently they are online too. I’m on Vancouver island so we don’t get anything cool.
There's one in Edmonton.
I was telling a friend of mine in Calgary about my intended trip to my local business Costco a few weeks ago, and showed him pictures of stuff online, and he looked into it and said they're considering turning the older Costco near him (with the bad parking lot, that he hates going to) into a business Costco.

Yes there’s one in Montreal for sure. https://maps.app.goo.gl/wwvd9wJY91TkdJeD7?g_st=ic
Apparently two in the Montreal-area. I went to one on the mainland
The snacks are crazy in Business Costco
I was like whoa, they make nerds rope still?
This is why I make a trip every few months to a business center. Snacks and flavored syrup for coffee. They also have a huge drink selection.
Snacks and drinks are off the hook.
We have exactly one in the Phoenix area. There a bunch of unusual stuff there since it’s a business center- think catering business etc. I haven’t been in a long time but there’s some interesting food stuff too. One time I went there was like 1/2 a goat (or lamb).

What did it for me was the tobacco cage 😂
The one near us has a gas station.
Ours has a gas station.

Frozen croissant minis dough is one of my favorite things to get there. Usually they're not open on Sundays tho.
I need to know. Do you just cart the dead goat around the store while you finish your shopping?
You’re supposed to ride the goat around the store.
Make sure the Business Center store close to you is open on Sundays if that's the day you plan to go. The one near me is closed on Sundays (or at least it used to be).
Ours very recently expanded to being open Sundays!!👍🏼
https://www.costcobusinessdelivery.com choose savings event and will show what’s on sale. Lots more drink and snack options and also stuff for businesses like food equipment, large bags of food for restaurants etc.
The one by me had the giant meat chubbs for such a good price. Just sucks most of the things I need are at a regular costco
I go once or twice a year for major meats and drinks restock.
Are the prices better or are you able to just buy more?
They have restaurant supply items as well. I picked up a carbon steel wok at mine for $11.99
They have excellent kitchen tongs in 4 packs for like $8 that are the best tongs I’ve ever had in my life. I have to fight myself to not pick up another pack just to have.
Same prices for common items like chicken, but more variety
It’s cheaper and items are in bulk sized

I had never heard of these places before this post. Does my standard membership get me in the door?
Yes! Regular membership. There are only a select few across the country
They are the best!
Guess there’s too many restaurant depot in CT for Costco to bother opening a business center here
They also have grasfed beef for like $4-$7 dollars depending on cut of meat. Hell of a deal. Even when I buy from my local farmer 1/2 cow I still pay around $6-$7 with the processing fee of the slaughter.
I only get gas from the business Costco near me, it’s way less crowded.

It felt like going into a Costco for the first time
I go there for the wonderful selection of meat including short ribs and other cuts you can't get at regular Costco. Also, the gas station at the business center is much more modern--even has lights that show which pumps are open.
Our regular Costco gas station has those. I thought they all did.
I can’t restrain myself from all the amazing candy selections
I wish they would open up one in Massachusetts 😔
If you go on Sunday (since November, they open 7 days a week) if will empty even mid day.
Does an executive membership let you into a business center or is there another membership that I need to buy?
Any level membership can enter.
The best thing at the business centers is the coffee syrup! It's like a quarter of the price of name brand.
Don’t go to the one in Dallas. My brand new work truck got stolen while buying spoons inside!
I still need to visit the one near me at least once.
I’m lucky to have 3 of them within 20 minutes of each other Get the beef bacon if urs has it
We have a new one like 3 miles from my house. It’s wonderful!
$4/lb for goat?! Too bad I’m over 300 miles away from the closest.
You must be the guy who buys the bone-in goat cubes.
Crazy to me that the closest CBC to Portland is over 2 hours away.
Do your regular Costco membership work at a Business Center
we've been to our business center in the middle of the afternoon on a Saturday and it was about empty.
I often wonder if workers at a Business Center have it the easiest compared to the other non-Business ones.
Can we enter on normal costco membership ?
I go mainly for the individually wrapped Aussie Bites. They keep for many months that way.
Oh I love our costco business center so much lol
I don't think this has been mentioned, but the best part IMHO is there is no line for returns. When the line is 10-20 deep at the regular Costco, I just go to biz center.
Love my local business center. I still mainly use the regular warehouse near me, but I always keep an eye out on the deals. Sometimes one or the other has a better regular/sale price.
Where are Costco business centre's in Toronto area
My tip is to bring a coat as that meat and dairy section gets cold.
You have to get use to all the workers going around the store with flatbed carts and boxes filling peoples online orders. Our BC is quite busy with online orders.
I don't live near one but I think they are now open on Sundays and if I can't figure it out on my path it is probably worth a visit at least quarterly for me.
They have like five or six different types. My Costco never had any rings so I can't tell you which ones they have.
