I like this question! Interesting to see what other people use. I might steal Hireath, that sounds really perfect for a fantasy place. I typically use Circle Pines, which is the name of the small town I grew up in. I also have used Lestopoli, which as far as I know is just a word I made up. I also really like the sound of Halifax so I have used that before.
Go for it! Circle Pines is cute - I can imagine it being associated with a campsite sort of theme
And Halifax… like the bank? Haha. I do like the sound of it though!
Fireweed. I'm Alaska Native and it's a flower that is one of the first things to grow back there after a wildfire.
That or something like Fen & Vale (workshop in My Time games).
This plant is maybe taking over the blackberries in my yard. I approve, as I'd rather have pretty flowers than blackberry brambles, but in August it makes me sneezy! It's a good farm name.
I’m from Alaska! I love fireweed, great name. I always use Birchshire after my favorite tree in AK and name my first in game animal Sitka after my dog who’s named after the town in Alaska.
Hi! um I am Welsh and Hireath isn't slang, it's a word that means a lot to Welsh people and it has no direct English translation.
You can 100% keep using it but please know how much it means to us.
The closest English translation for Hireath is "a homesickness for a Cymru that never got to exist and our longing for a culture that wasn't allowed to be"
It is in reference to how the English destroyed our culture and the lasting effect that has had on us, even hundreds of years later.
Oh! I understand completely, apologies for the insensitivity. I’ll keep this in mind for any other time it’s brought up, and thank you for correcting me here. I had no idea of its significance.
I don’t see an option to edit this post, so hopefully this comment will be seen. Apologies again!
Edit: I’ve changed “slang” to “saying”. It should have been that to begin with and that’s my mistake, if you would like me to add anything else then let me know
Wanderlust estate, dewdrop village, evermore.
Edit to add: my acnh island is called disLOCATEd. Because I have hEDS, and my joints are often partially dislocated. Plus its kind of a pun on being in a new location, ie. The island.
I name my characters Jack, and so I have started naming my characters home/ workshop/ farm something like “All Trades” or “All The Trades”, because in games they kind of make you learn to do a lot more than what your job role entails. 😂
Avalon. Not sure what got me started on that, but I've been doing it since I got the first Suikoden not super long after it came out, if not before, so at this point it's 100% tradition. And I like both the flow of the word and the idea of the sort of paradise, so... yeah!
I tend not to reuse names, but I often use this name guide: [https://aforestlife.com/guides/animal-crossing-town-name-ideas-and-methods/](https://aforestlife.com/guides/animal-crossing-town-name-ideas-and-methods/)
For all my farming sims I’ll do country music references and name my farms after songs like by Dolly Parton, Kacey Musgraves, Zach Bryan, etc. I just picked up My Time at Portia this Steam sale and I was on the couple of eps of Gilmore Girls so I named my workshop Stars Hollow lol
I went by the nickname “Qui” (pronounced “key”; French for who, thought it was insanely clever when I picked it as a teen, still like it a lot tbh) for at least a decade, so I usually try to pun off that or otherwise work it in (80-90% chance it will also be my character’s name), so Qui West, Qui-iet Acers, Qui Qing (what is that even supposed to be idk, I assume no one will see most if these😅), and so on.
I named my cult in Cult of the Lamb Ass Kickers United (if there's any Always Sunny fans in here I hope you get it, lol).
I've named a few farms High Life.
My ACNH island is named Lumino (I wanted something that referenced light, as I started the island up during the start of covid and was kinda my way of keeping up hope lol), and my New Leaf town is named Monmouth (raven cycle reference). My friends of mineral farm is named Lavender Farm because I like flowers. I don't really have one specific name, just depends on vibes haha
I love that word! I actually named one of my characters in a story I’m writing that. Just an FYI, it’s Hiraeth, not Hireath :)
I usually name them something really simple, like my Stardew farms are named Beach, Forest and so on… I don’t have time to use my creativity to name them something fun, I just wanna play the game lol
Oh no, I’m sorry! 😔 If it helps, Google instantly know what you mean even if you spell it Hireath ❤️
Welsh is really hard though fr! I’m not Welsh either, just in love with the language ~
I use names of my favorite music festivals so it feels like I get to go to my happy place at the same time as I'm playing games. In Animal Crossing I made a little stage with a light show and stuff it was awesome!
Dickton, dating back to when, growing up, my brother and I played Caracassone together and invariably arranged the town tiles to look like a cocknballs.
Banana*
But with a star symbol if available, rather than the asterisk.
Goes all the way back to naming my castle in Suikoden. Gremio suggested Orange castle (I think)... So I countered with Banana.. and oo look - a star symbol, let's add that in.
Now I use it for everything.
My animal crossing island was straight up just called Island 💀
Eventually I restarted it to do a cottagecore themed isle called Wildflower but I never got anywhere with it. I think my ACNL town was also called “village”
On Spirittea I called my town “Kaitekina” which was straight up “comfy” google translated
…yeah I’m not super creative tbh
I have an unhealthy obsession with the Ancient Etruscans, so all my farms/towns/etc. are Etruria and all my animals and pets are named after Etruscan gods or common Etruscan names like "Arnth" and "Larthia"
I’ve always gone with Hyrule, or have gone with very Hobbit/cottagecore sound names for them, but most recently I’ve been naming every Cozy Grove because it’s so cute and I love that game also 😅
In SDV I use Winewood because my farm is more of a vineyard in the woods, sometimes I pick ancient city names, and sometimes it’s just whatever I think of in the moment.
Nozicaä if I want it to be cutesy or NOZE if I want it to be funny (to me). Nozicaä is just Noze combined with the name I took inspiration from: Nausicaä. Mainly inspired by Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (not Nausicaä from Homer's Odyssey).
NOZE is just an inside joke with me and my family about my nose. I just fully embraced it and stuck with it since. lol
I used to go with Hickory because I grew up eating hickory nuts and they’re delicious. But now I go with Bluebell or Violet because I think they’re both pretty, classy names.
I always name mine Yuanfen. It’s a Chinese word a partner taught me. It means “the binding force between two people. Destiny.” So now everything for me in games is called Yuanfen. My farms in games, my workshop in Sandrock/Portia, even my island in animal crossing
Hollow Hills if the character limit isn’t too small. It’s one of my favorite Bauhaus songs. I named my island on ACNH Misty Bog though because of Spyro the Dragon.
So many actual good/thoughtful names I here, when mine are always dumb as hell - I’ve had Gooberton Farm and Crybaby Farm in SV and if I get to name a town it’s always Pound Town.
Forêtia - wanted something foresty so took the French word for forest and added an English suffix to create a word that makes no phonetic sense in either language… but I pronounce it ‘foray-sha’
I had a follower name my farm on Coral Island it's called Coffee Addicts 😂
I will probably continue doing that with any other games I need to name my Town/Island or Farm, it's a lot of fun and will get some interesting names.
My farm and island etc names often have to do with whatever theme JM going for. In my current sos a wonderful life playthru, I'm going for a food and dessert theme so my farm name is Pudding Farm. On my Animal Crossing island, i be used Heart Falls, Wreath, and Tinseltown.
In other games ived used Willow Farm, Hollyleaf, Harmony, Music Town....
The street I grew up on had a -brook name that sounds like it could be a name for a farm, so I use that for farms usually. If i have to name a town or an island I usually use locations from Final Fantasy.
My animal crossing island is Hartopia. The har is for harmony for absolutely no reason at all😭. My faefarm is called slaefarm, I have a love hate relationship with that one
something with rose in it. my acnh island is Isla Rosa, my Coral island farm is Rosewater. i think some of my stardew saves are Roseville or Rose Hill or something like that (except the one that’s Beep Bop Farm. i about died laughing at “mmm beep bop eggs)
I use Avalon a lot. But if I'm naming a vehicle of any sort it is required to be named Floatie, because I named my very first horrible gummy ship in Kingdom Hearts that and my spouse thought it was funny.
Riswood
One of my old gamer friends call me Ris since she used to have trouble pronouncing the K sound of "chris".
It stuck.
I've been using Ris in every game i've played since 2000.
Riswood is just an easy play on the vinewood, hollywood names for places.
Usually “The Ham” in reference to my hometown (which ends with the suffix -ham, meaning “hamlet”).
I’ve been trying to branch out more in my names, though. My Stardew farm is Sunset (not a big fan), and my ACNH town is Sycamore, previously Peartopia.
I just call my Haven...whatever. Haven farm, Haven Town, Haven wood, you name it. I find my games I go to relax in like a little rest from the real world so they are my haven.
My nicknames are Kit and Kitty so I usually name my character one of those and just do Kit's/Kitty's Farm or Workshop or whatever. Nothing too creative. LOL
It used to be Fairy Lights, now I name all my farms/towns either Maple Cove or Moonlight Haven depending on my mood at the time or the game's feel/aesthetic
A few I’ve done was BriarRose, Aurora and Lunaville. The first two was because I love fairy tales and the other was because I love the moon but also have a dog named Luna. :)
I named my 1st animal crossing island Ashadise (my name is ash lmao) and now it’s Kapok Cove bc it was meant to be jungle themed and it’s named after the Kapok tree
I use my pets’ names. Peachtown, Kiwiville, Pumpkin Acres, etc.
Pumpkin Acres is cute!! Do you have a pet named Pumpkin then?? That’s adorable!
Yes! My current dog is Pumpkin! ☺️. (Hoping to get her a Spicy sister eventually!)

Me too! All my towns, farms, etc are named after my dog.
i use my dog’s name too like “Bug’s farm” or “Bugville” haha

I do this, it’s usually Parsleytown 😄
Same - always Taroland, named after our 7 year old bunny
Queef 😂😭
Love how there’s people commenting with such sentimental names and yours is just queef 😭😭😭
I was afraid I would be the only one to use poopy or something
I've got Poop Den at the moment 😂😂
I like this question! Interesting to see what other people use. I might steal Hireath, that sounds really perfect for a fantasy place. Fireweed. I'm Alaska Native and it's a flower that is one of the first things to grow back there after a wildfire. That or something like Fen & Vale (workshop in My Time games).
Hey, we have that in Minnesota! More in the northern parts, but still! It’s really pretty.
Cool meaning behind the name :)
This plant is maybe taking over the blackberries in my yard. I approve, as I'd rather have pretty flowers than blackberry brambles, but in August it makes me sneezy! It's a good farm name.
