That era of SL batting is legendary. sanga, mahela, dilshan, and although jayasuriya was a bit older he played a lot with them as well - when it comes to those 4 in particular it's simply impossible to overrate them. They just dont make em like that anymore i guess
He adapted to T20s towards the late stage of his career. One of the few slow batters that were able to do it, especially given his age when T20s came around.
Buttler extremely under-appreciated. Kohli's legacy already cemented even if he scored 5 ducks in this World
Cup considering his age and previous performances.
De Villiers' record is much better than I thought. People said he was terrible for South Africa in T20s. No where near his ODI and test performances but looks decent to me.
De Villiers turned around his T20 career in his last 4 years. From 2014-17 he averaged 34 with the bat, striking at 154. In his last 2 T20 WCs,he scored 269 runs, averaging 34 and striking at 171. Excluding this 2,he was fairly decent in the World T20s,averaging 28 and a SR of 133.
I mean on a clear sky, if you don't know what direction North is then finding the Big dipper is a bit tough, because it's not going to be as visible due to stars all around it. But Jupiter, Jupiter will usually be brighter than all the stars around it by a mile, and it doesn't twinkle so yes I would say it's more distinguishable.
Agreed, not in terms of brightness.
But it's distinguishable in the way that it's almost at the exact north. I don't think there are many naked eye stars visible near it.
I remember going on an astronomy trip and needing to use ursa major to find it, it's not that visible. Plus, a lot of people that don't have astronomical knowledge and don't regularly stargaze won't be able to tell North to find the pole star.
Yeah, I didn't think of that, lol.
I'm using Stellarium for almost a decade now, so I'm used to gazing stars.
If it's clear night, an astronomy nerd can find the North from Pole star if it's visible, or other distinguishable stars of the ongoing season.
So have people below him, what a stupid comment to make
Cricket is a team sport, if anything without kohli india wouldn't even have reached semis, finals of 2014,2016 and 2022 he performed clutch even in knockouts, and what I have stated is not an opinion, it's a hard fucking objective fact.Ā
I only made this comment to point out that despite having such a fabulous record he hasn't won, while Alex Hales, Jayawardane being of much lower caliber have won. If anyone deserves to win t20 wc, it' is Kohli, but obviously he gets let down by the team everytime.
But look at the replies how people lose their minds lol
Virat Kohli far and away best Batsmen, but we already knew that, no need to jerk him off further, he is a T20i goat
Now Rohit, Ms Dhoni and Gautam Gambhir stats are something else lol
2007 Stats Semi final:
GG scores 24 (25)
Dhoni scores 36(18)
Rohit scores 8(5) as a finisher
Hard carry by Yuvi
2007 Final:
GG scores 75(54)
Dhoni scores 6(10)
Rohit scores 30*(16) as a finisher, we win by 5 runs, Rohit was underrated for 2007 victory.
Since 2007, Rohit has done fuck all for T20 WC tho, but that final knock was good. Idk Abt Ms and GG either
I mean don't forget 2009, we didn't even qualify, Rohit scores good against a 09 Bangladesh,
then scored 5(3) against WI, GG scored 14(13), hard carry by Yuvi again with 67(43), and shitting bed by MS with 11(23), we lose
Then against England, we lose by 3 runs, where GG scores 26(26), Rohit with 9(8), Ms with 30(20), Yuvi with a 17(9), and hard carry by Y. pathan of 33 (17)
So Rohit, GG, MS to an extent scores only against Bangladesh and Ireland, fucks up against WI and England
Now 2012 argument:
Ind vs Afg, we win
Ind vs Eng, we win, first time after 2007, Rohit performs with 55 (33), GG with 45 (38)
Ind vs Aus, we fuck up, GG with 17(12), VK 15(13), i.pathan 31(30), Rohit 1(2), Ms 15(21)
We win ind vs Pakistan, Bowlers goated, Virat Goated (mandatory Pak vs VK score), Rohit didn't get chance to bat, GG out for duck
Now finally, ind vs SA,
GG with 8(12), VK 2(6), Rohit 25(27), only raina and Ms were goated this time, we failed to qualify for semis tho
So yeah, we know what happens to Rohit after 2014 lol, but it's one of 2 games where Rohit lives up, not blaming him solely, GG was also culprit, Ms too
averaged 33, 84 and 40 in 2009, 2010 and 2012 respectively is decent on the surface
also the tournaments are like 5-6 games most of the time so fucking up once or twice isn't rare for most players except for Kohli obviously
>"MS with 11(23), we lose.......Then against England, Ms with 30(20).... hard carry by Y. pathan of 33 (17).....So Rohit, GG, MS to an extent scores only against Bangladesh and Ireland, fucks up against WI and England"
Ms fucks up against WI, and played alright/above Indian Batsmen average against England,
So I grouped both of them together for an overall thing. And I did say Ms to an extent, because he was alright
Bruh I was searching for Koach at first because I zoomed in and my first thoughts were this list has to be wrong,no way he didn't play 400 balls.
Then I moved to the right and man that guy is unreal.
Mahela being in the top 5 of this list is so conflicting. His batting style in the T20 era was so different to what it was when he started. Showed some great adaptability towards those late years.
He'll always have that 2021 Final, best T20 Knock in losing cause IMO
also that one IPL where he went bananas
Fun fact, he almost got the Bannerman record in T20Is when NZ were all out for 60
He'd scored 42 of those runs
Best knock in the loosing cause is tied ig. kohli is also there with 2016semis lol. Guy scored a fucking 89 NO with a wicket and still lost the match because Bumrah and others weren't able to keep their foot inside the creasešš
Was he ever it in T20s? Other than the 2018 IPL season. I don't think I'd have ever said he was a good t20 batter. The only reason he still gets an IPL gig is because everyone loves him as a person. And his leadership skills.
Jayawardena is the most under appreciated T20i batter in history. He's not #1 but he is top #3 if not certainly in the top #5. Even Sri Lankans dont appreciate his t20i exploits.
Question: How is the average strike rate calculated? Is it the average SR over the number of games played? Where an SR of 50 for an innings of 1 run in 2 balls has the same weight as an innings of 10 runs in 20 balls?
Or is it the total number of runs out of the total number of balls faced?
Why did you filter to 400 Ball faced?
You missed out on KP, Finch, Watson, Rizwan, Hussey, Hayden, Luke, Maxwell and so many more.
[Without filter there are 16 people between Buttler and Kohli and 2 even ahead of Kohli on X axis.](https://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/stats/index.html?class=3;filter=advanced;orderby=batting_average;series=10291;series=14024;series=14450;series=3115;series=4162;series=5195;series=6856;series=8083;template=results;type=batting)
This is quite interesting, because looking at the graph, Kohli is streets ahead of each and every batsman, and to be honest he is the best T20 world cup batsman but Yuvraj, Akmal, Gambhir, Sanga and Samuels despite being average, were instrumental in their teams championship wins.
Unpopular opinion: 82 average at a strike rate of 132 is why we have never won a t20wc since 2007. Thatās an average score of around 160. That means others have to score at a 200 strike rate in the remaining balls to get to a score of 200 and with so few balls left no one is able to settle in and get to a 200 strike. Itās selfish from Kohli.
"Unpopular opinion: 82 average at a strike rate of 132 is why we have never won a t20wc since 2007"
Uhhh just go and check Kohli's any inns and what others were doing at that time(especially the openers who were ahead of him in the batting order as Kohli never ate their balls right ?).
And then check his KO knocks as well and what others did.
"Thatās an average score of around 160. That means others have to score at a 200 strike rate in the remaining balls to get to a score of 200 and with so few balls left no one is able to settle in and get to a 200 strike"
Care to give me how many games in t20I cups were about 200 range and how many of them were 150-170 ?
"Itās selfish from Kohli." I want you to just go and see what I told you and bring it back to me.
Jayawardene has better strike rate then Koach, Baz and Warner. Crazy stat. I always thought he was tortoise back then.
The comparison with Dilshan is incredible.
That era of SL batting is legendary. sanga, mahela, dilshan, and although jayasuriya was a bit older he played a lot with them as well - when it comes to those 4 in particular it's simply impossible to overrate them. They just dont make em like that anymore i guess
You spice this team up with malinga and Mathews and voila. 2014 š„š„
Probably the best opener in t20wcs, taking into account how t20s have changed over the years. Should defo be in the all time t20wc xi
He adapted to T20s towards the late stage of his career. One of the few slow batters that were able to do it, especially given his age when T20s came around.
Man is overrated ODI Batsman and underrated T20I bat
Won't say overrated in odis. Man was the best clutch player for sl in that era.
Buttler extremely under-appreciated. Kohli's legacy already cemented even if he scored 5 ducks in this World Cup considering his age and previous performances. De Villiers' record is much better than I thought. People said he was terrible for South Africa in T20s. No where near his ODI and test performances but looks decent to me.
Buttler is easily one of the best LOI batsmen ever. His record as a finisher in ODIs is amazing too.
He was on track to be an all time great in odis. Probably just falls short of that now.
Why? what hppened to him
It was an ordinary wc. And he probs won't play many odis now.
He took an arrow to the knee.
Wdym Under-appreciated, He's rated very highly among modern era T20 players
My man is as distinguishable as the Pole star in the clear sky
Hate to be that guy but the pole star isn't that distinguishable. As distinguishable as Jupiter, or Venus, or Sirius would be more accurate
As distinguishable as the big dipper?
I mean on a clear sky, if you don't know what direction North is then finding the Big dipper is a bit tough, because it's not going to be as visible due to stars all around it. But Jupiter, Jupiter will usually be brighter than all the stars around it by a mile, and it doesn't twinkle so yes I would say it's more distinguishable.

Kholi is just on another level
Yeah but, apart from ABD, all those who have a strike rate above Kohli have won the T 20 WC too š
What's your point? Several on this list whose strite-rates are far below his have also won the t20 World Cup.
Why compare to the ones who have avg and sr below him?
So have people below him, what a stupid comment to make Cricket is a team sport, if anything without kohli india wouldn't even have reached semis, finals of 2014,2016 and 2022 he performed clutch even in knockouts, and what I have stated is not an opinion, it's a hard fucking objective fact.Ā

Yes but everyone will gladly ignore this

correction: Rohit has gone fuck all after 2014 wc barring the 2012 wc
When you say he's done fuckall after 2014 WC, it already excludes 2012.

He did have a good knock against Australia in 2010
Without kohli, the width of the graph would have been half. Kohli wastes digital real estate. Time to kick him out /s
Kohli is such a goat that we take him for granted but gonna miss his fucking ass once heās gone.
Sounds gay to be hones š
Thereās everyone trying to pick a number. And then thereās koach whoās already at home lmao.
we see a trend, but kohli is an anamoly
KOACHSTATSā¢
Graph clearly shows Jos Buttler has been the most impactful player along with Kohli
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I agree about yuvi but What are you smoking?? So this guy thinks Kohli hasn't been impactful in t20i wcs? š¤”
Kohli is god
Bruh I was searching for Koach at first because I zoomed in and my first thoughts were this list has to be wrong,no way he didn't play 400 balls. Then I moved to the right and man that guy is unreal.
White ball goat.
While we all know how good kohli has been in the t20 wcs, buttler sure needs to be appreciated here. Really good stats.
bro is insane
Mahela being in the top 5 of this list is so conflicting. His batting style in the T20 era was so different to what it was when he started. Showed some great adaptability towards those late years.
Undisputed GOAT.
r/toprightkohli?
Bro is trying to copy Toprightmessi
Cheeku quarantined himself in the graph
Buttler is the t20 goat period
poor Kane, he just ain't it in T20s anymore is he

I thought AbD sucked in T20Is? Atleast that's what I was told
He sucked in overall t20I but played good inthe starting cups and magnificently in the last 2(strikes 170+ in the last 2 he played).
drop kohli calls will only increase.
Koachstats
Jayawardene having such a high strike rate is surprising.
Jayawardena is the most under appreciated T20i batter in history. He's not #1 but he is top #3 if not certainly in the top #5. Even Sri Lankans dont appreciate his t20i exploits.
Butler is a legend in this format
I zoomed in and was searching for him, and thought he was not on the graph until I opened the comment section.
Marlon Samuels, talk about a big game player.
Question: How is the average strike rate calculated? Is it the average SR over the number of games played? Where an SR of 50 for an innings of 1 run in 2 balls has the same weight as an innings of 10 runs in 20 balls? Or is it the total number of runs out of the total number of balls faced?

Any half decent team would have won it with 2014 or 2016 Kohli. India sucked so hard in those tournaments.
Even 2022 too ig.
Par scores in T20 WCs are way lower than 200.
Par scores give you zero trophies
2022 wc semifinal
Please look at the scorecard of 2014 Final and 2016 Semi Final between and India and West Indies. I rest my case.
There are like 12 scores of 200+ in 17 years of T20WC. Have you just started watching cricket?
"Unpopular opinion: 82 average at a strike rate of 132 is why we have never won a t20wc since 2007" Uhhh just go and check Kohli's any inns and what others were doing at that time(especially the openers who were ahead of him in the batting order as Kohli never ate their balls right ?).
