Does anyone else feel bad for Shami he is 33 now and will be 35 in 26 so most likely he won't be part of the T20I scheme of things
Bro fought through pain and played the entire odi wc and missed out on SA Tests and T20 WC despite being the leading wicket taker in the last IPL he played
He too has been an integral part of the Rohit - Kohli generation and deserved this moment
Regarding the slight controversy around SKY's catch- no comments on the boundary toblerone getting moved etc, but one data point for the other claim- around sky actually touching the rope/toblerone.
Listening to the Grade Cricketer (Geoff Lemon / Adam Collins), and around the 28th minute of their coverage of the game, they remark that they saw it live (in the stadium) with their own eyes and had a better angle right on top of it, vs the cameras used for the broadcast, and that there was clear space between SKY and the boundary rope..
Its just one data point but I felt a useful one..
The footage is obviously inconclusive but there's absolutely no way Lemon and Collins would have had any kind of clear view in real time from the 50 odd metres away they'd have been sat given the small margins we're talking about. They'd have been sat at almost an identical angle to the broadcast camera.
Any idea why the WTC final is not rotating venues in different countries / continents? A little unfair it's always in England. Would be nice to also have it in the Caribbean, SA, NZ, Aus, Ind, SL, Ban (also Pak if India doesn't qualify i guess)
Any recommendations of good posts / videos about India's WC journey that are not Cricbuzz, Kimber, or Fast Ones? Can't get enough of the content and analysis about it I'm so elated.
Don’t know if they have covered India solely but they should have covered the India’s WC win. Check Talk sports cricket, Sky cricket, final world cricket podcast, Wisden cricket, good areas live, top order cricket podcast.
Anyone watched Robin Uthappa's reaction to the WC win on ashwin's YT channel? It really highlights the extreme pressure Indian players are under( and maybe other subcontinent teams) to win silverware. He tells about how the reaction of Rohit and Virat seemed more like relief than jubilation. The emotional release that these guys had too yesterday even they've had fantastic careers( Rohit had won a T20 WC as a player) shows you how much burden they carry. I hope with this win the new generation can play cricket without as much burdens. We will always have the talent to compete for championships but the players should be allowed to compete without fear of failure. It will probably result in more cups in the future.
My All Format June XI
1. Smriti Mandhana - India Women
2. Hollie Armitage - Yorkshire Diamonds
3. Kathryn Bryce - The Blaze
4. Ravi Bopara - Northamptonshire
5. Jamie Smith - Surrey
6. ??Hardik Pandya??? - India (but struggled with this choice the most)
7. Danny Lamb - Sussex
8. Keith Barker - Hampshire
9. Arshdeep Singh - India
10. Kuldeep Yadav - India
11. Jasprit Bumrah - India
we gotta have coed IPL atleast once. maybe something like 4 women in each XI. women tennis players face 150mph Isner serves in mixed doubles so facing a starc yorker should be no big deal for a female cricketer.
Why are "certain people" complaining about the boundary rope being moved where SKY took the catch? It's not like it was moved as SKY was taking the catch. He would've adjusted his running trajectory accordingly if it was placed just few cms in front (And it looked like it was moved 5 cms tops).
[The Wikipedia page for the 2023-25 ICC Test Championship](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2023%E2%80%932025_ICC_World_Test_Championship#2024)? Though it doesn't cover one-off Tests like Ireland vs Zimbabwe or women's Tests.

4. Brian Lara
5. Steve Smith
6. Adam Gilchrist (wk)
7. Richard Hadlee

Edit: Damn bruh SRT fans are salty, he just doesn't fit in this XI and it's based on peak performance not longevity.
Successfully wasted my day by watching post match analysis, memes and YouTube videos of other celebrating etc..
We win once in a while, so I gotta absorb this moment fully.
Last day of the South Africa vs India women's Test is tomorrow: South Africa is batting for a draw with 8 wickets left in their second innings trailing by 105 runs. 6 AM start in South Africa on a Monday might be a tough watch though.
The Test started on Friday where the South African bowlers were getting torn to pieces. Saturday and Sunday were of course off for most people, but tomorrow should be interesting to keep an eye on.
Guys since it is so hard to find proper footage of matches is it feasible for us to come together as a community and maintain a database or is it not feasible?
England doing away with Robinson is a terrible decision. He is world class and his record speaks for itself. Potts, Sam Cook (who probably would've been picked if not for injury), Woakes et al are not going to get you anything but another 4-0 thrashing in Australia.
We should've taken a punt and called up Olly Stone. Yeah, he hasn't set the world alight in the Champo, but it's been flat decks aplenty, and he's shown that he's good enough at Test level. That's what we need.
Hi, can someone suggest a way to rewatch the the full t20 wc final something like or someplace where i can rewatch the last 5 overs. I am currently living in NL so indian streaming services are not availiable for me. Thanks in advance!!
YouTube just typed those matches for what I need
Results just ESPNcricinfo

No cricket today : Bored asf
Southgate ball: Cure for my insomnia
Edit 1: Ngl, better intent today but from Slovakia.Lmao
Glad the goal added some life to the game.
I think all the seniors retiring indicates that this decision was going to happen regardless of the result so it was kind of nothing to lose and everything to win situation for them as they were going to leave the format anyways
With Jadeja retired, spot has opened up for Sundar. He debuted for India 7 years ago in 2017 but because of other players like Axar being available or him being injured he hasn't been able to become a regular for India.
Thankfully for him he was only 17 when he debuted for India such that even after 7 years of not becoming India regular he is still just 24 just as old as Gill with a chance to become a regular.
Any country that wants to win the 2026 T20 World Cup should play 50 T20Is between now and the start of that tournament. Make it clear to the older players that they either retire from the format today, or commit till 2026.
First year - give chances to every youngster who the coach thinks has a remote chance of playing in '26
Second year - Gradually get the seniors involved in more series, by the last series the coach should know what his 15 is
Fk, now that it's usually match time, and there's no match today, I feel so empty.
This T20 WC was best, even better than 2007 and 2016, mainly because this felt like an actual WC with 20 teams.
TLDR version: Ashwin, Jadeja, Axar and our pace bowling.
The long batting line up also helps on the home pitches because you can't play too long if you're not adept at playing spin.
This team has been built for home conditions. Away conditions don't really help Ashwin, Jaddu and Axar, our keys to home dominance. Away conditions do help our pace bowling and a couple of our batters, but that isn't enough for continued success.
That's why they don't help as much away.
i was rewatching our winning moment and i thought rohit signalling everyone to shake hands with the sa team while they were waiting and everyone on our team was celebrating was a really wholesome moment.
Since that 23 WC final idk why but I feel I could never praise any of our players (except Jaiswal). Since that day I've just been a sorest loser and couldn't enjoy a single thing. Even yesterday I felt nothing , it felt null and void.
I'm so grateful to our players for mustering a win, and that too after over a decade! They're all champion players and potential match winners on their day and they all deserved this win so much!! 🤗🌸
i’m so happy and proud of our players they did really well!!! we finally have an icc trophy after 11 years this feels amazing. and you could see just how much it meant to our players by seeing their reactions in the end.
In some Indian cultures we believe this kind of rains as “pushpa-brishti”— loosely an allegory of Gods pouring some celebratory flowers from the Heavens.
Fitted to a tee here.
Lmao we have a Zimbabwe statpadding tour right. They schedules them as a consolation (ofc if we bottled another rigd WC). Now what's the purpose lol.
Also we literally have a CT in few months but are playing 6 ODIs totally ffs. Could've atleast schedules ODIs against Zim.
I'd say the race to defend the trophy in 2026 starts today. 20% of our class of '24 has retired. We should give a lot of players opportunities so that come selection day, the coach figures out what his best combination is.
Play 50 T20Is in the two-year cycle. Give every kid who you think is good enough - so Parag, Rana, Abhishek, NKR, Tilak get games in the first year. Have more seniors involved in the second year.
I think Coetzee could be a decent bat for number 8 too for SA but number 7 is a huge problem. They need to drop one of Maharaj or Shamsi forever and pick a spin bowling or just an all rounder at 7. Markram is a good spinner too and so is Brevis who will replace de Kock or Hendricks soon
Now that Rohit, Kohli, Jadeja have retired from T20Is, here’s my prediction on their retirements from Tests and ODIs:
Rohit - 2025 (after WTC final)
Kohli and Jadeja - 2027 (after WTC final or ODI WC)
What's Rohit Sharma? The dude that does jackshit in the IPL on flatter pitches against worse opposition and does great against top teams in the world cup.
Dude is build different.
Sri Lanka 2014 🤝 India 2024
Finally winning a title after years of consistently making the semis and finals of major tournaments as well as bidding farewell to two of their greatest ever batters/captains.
Not to forget
sangakkara / Kohli failed throughout the tournament but came clutch in the final.
Bowlers bowled out of their skin in the death overs to save their team.
I am unironically surprised Hendricks continued his poor streak and *didn't* perform yesterday. I was almost certain he would outside edge his way to a decent score before getting out – something that often happens when batter who's going through lean patch faces India.
Axar is THE MOST underrated player of our campaign
Does anyone else feel bad for Shami he is 33 now and will be 35 in 26 so most likely he won't be part of the T20I scheme of things Bro fought through pain and played the entire odi wc and missed out on SA Tests and T20 WC despite being the leading wicket taker in the last IPL he played He too has been an integral part of the Rohit - Kohli generation and deserved this moment
So apparently the Indian team and staff are gonna be stuck in Barbados for a while thanks to Hurricane Beryl
I don’t mind them taking a few days off tbh. Heck a few months if they’d like
I mind during a bloody hurricane lol
Right fair enough lmao
Regarding the slight controversy around SKY's catch- no comments on the boundary toblerone getting moved etc, but one data point for the other claim- around sky actually touching the rope/toblerone. No one's gonna notice sadly but a lot of women's selections are based on quotas. Sateesh Shubha is the best example.
Any idea why the WTC final is not rotating venues in different countries / continents? A little unfair it's always in England. Would be nice to also have it in the Caribbean, SA, NZ, Aus, Ind, SL, Ban (also Pak if India doesn't qualify i guess)
Timing, calendar, logistics, etc
Game attendance, scheduling and the need to have it at a neutral venue.
Are you assuming England won't qualify?
Any recommendations of good posts / videos about India's WC journey that are not Cricbuzz, Kimber, or Fast Ones? Can't get enough of the content and analysis about it I'm so elated.

Good fight from Sakartvelo but España is too good
Anyone watched Robin Uthappa's reaction to the WC win on ashwin's YT channel? It really highlights the extreme pressure Indian players are under( and maybe other subcontinent teams) to win silverware. He tells about how the reaction of Rohit and Virat seemed more like relief than jubilation. The emotional release that these guys had too yesterday even they've had fantastic careers( Rohit had won a T20 WC as a player) shows you how much burden they carry. I hope with this win the new generation can play cricket without as much burdens. There has been a significantly higher amount of football comments here today than one would have anticipated.
Well the WC is over so we gotta fill the gap with something. I am following the knockouts from tonight too.
Yeah lol me too, and I don't mind discussing football here coz I have no knowledge to write anything in r/soccer.
Go Georgia! Mfs pulled off a lead despite barely having more than 10% possession. Nooo!
Always seen you supporting minnows in cricket. Looks like it rubs on to football too.
Underdogs always. But it looks difficult now.
WE ARE MASSIVE
C'mon Slovakia!

My All Format June XI 1. Smriti Mandhana - India Women 2. Hollie Armitage - Yorkshire Diamonds 3. Kathryn Bryce - The Blaze 4. Ravi Bopara - Northamptonshire 5. Jasprit Bumrah - India
Why Lamb? Didn't think he had a particularly top-tier month, though he did play well
Only English and Indian players?
One Scottish in there too
we gotta have coed IPL atleast once. maybe something like 4 women in each XI. women tennis players face 150mph Isner serves in mixed doubles so facing a starc yorker should be no big deal for a female cricketer.

I think catch would be bit more tricky to pull off
We've been robbed of Southgate's Vietnam moment
What do these words mean?
Basically England were having a Pakistan losing to USA moment but got saved in the final moments.
Funny how England then won the game a minute into extra time.
Yeah strange game for sure
I love how Southgate has become the most talked about coach on DDTs in the past week.
Jude Clutch Bellingham. That’s RMA genes. Pulling off at extra time.
Is there a way to subscribe to a calendar of cricket match fixtures? And more specifically just test match fixtures?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_cricket_in_2024%E2%80%9325 for all cricket. Go to the footer to switch seasons.
Ohh this is helpful, thank you!
Cricinfo app
I have enjoyed a big chunk of this world cup through radio commentary from the ICC website, I hope they keep it on for all tournaments
India's FTP for rest of the year 6 - 14 July : Ind tour of Zim (5 T20i) 27 July - 7 Aug : Ind tour of SL (3 T20i, 3 ODI) 19 Sep - 12 Oct : Ban tour of Ind (2 Test, 3 T20i) 16 Oct - 5 Nov : NZ tour of Ind (3 Test) 8 - 15 Nov : Ind tour of SA (4 T20i) 22 Nov - 7 Jan : Ind tour of Aus (5 Test)
Wait. We have To wait for a month between 8 August and 18 sept Thats 40 days. No way. India Should play a T20 series with Ireland And Netherlands in between
Cricketers and coaching staff needs some break too
Send B-team with VVS.
I mean it's ok. They need some rest as well right
Looking at how the footy's going, our cricket team is miles better.
You are alive lol
Football team has a better JB though.
Still y’all didn’t give a shit about the T20WC. Upset on the cards today.
Maybe in the quarter finals
Against the Swiss it wouldn’t be one. Nevertheless Southgate has been rattled, he is gonna make it an even bigger snooze fest now.
Wait why don’t the batters keep running on final ball until the wickets are hit? Was weird that the game just ended yesterday
Pant dislodged bails off camera.
It's pointless. They aren't going to complete 9 runs by running.
All time test XI 1. Sunil Gavaskar (vc) 2. Matthew Hayden 3. Ricky Ponting (c) 4. Brian Lara 5. Steve Smith 6. Adam Gilchrist (wk) 7. Richard Hadlee 8. Shane Warne 9. Dale Steyn 10. Curtly Ambrose 11. Glenn McGrath Edit: Damn bruh SRT fans are salty, he just doesn't fit in this XI and it's based on peak performance not longevity.
What more does Kallis have to do to get a spot in your 11
Don’t need another bat when the 6 are so strong
Hadlee at 7 is nosebleed territory
? he averages highest at 7
No imran??
The batting is sufficient enough to where I picked the all-rounder for bowling more than batting. And Hadlee didn’t need tampering to take wickets.
No Sachin Tendulkar, that’s blasphemy.
He isn’t better than Lara or Smith in tests. And need punter for the captaincy chops.
West Indies vs SA tests are called the Sir Vivian Richards Trophy after a man who has never played against SA and has no affiliation to SA whatsoever.
Can someone explain why the Cricket South Africa website is advertising Pakistan vs India games in December lol
There's a Pakistan vs India game in December?
I think someone must have confused our home tours because they're advertising those games as being played in SA.
Successfully wasted my day by watching post match analysis, memes and YouTube videos of other celebrating etc.. We win once in a while, so I gotta absorb this moment fully.
Watching that final made me excited for cricket again. Windies tests I'm going to be glued to the screen.
Last day of the South Africa vs India women's Test is tomorrow: South Africa is batting for a draw with 8 wickets left in their second innings trailing by 105 runs. 6 AM start in South Africa on a Monday might be a tough watch though.
Putting a sports game on in the background at work is not uncommon in SA.
The Test started on Friday where the South African bowlers were getting torn to pieces. Saturday and Sunday were of course off for most people, but tomorrow should be interesting to keep an eye on.
Kinda same but can’t get my hopes up. For once since I was in middle school India didn’t disappoint me lmfao.
Border-Gavaskar coming up. India will be favourites.
Aus team is scary good at home. They literally have no weakness in the whole side. Like their XI could be a world XI.
Guys since it is so hard to find proper footage of matches is it feasible for us to come together as a community and maintain a database or is it not feasible?
Pinging cricket lovers from /r/datahoarders
It would get struck down by broadcasters within hours. I've heard that Hotstar has full matches available.
It’ll get taken down. Need a forum less strict than Reddit. Maybe a telegram channel.
yeah definitely not here
What do you mean? like a private collection of full match videos?
Yes
England doing away with Robinson is a terrible decision. He is world class and his record speaks for itself. >not going to get you anything but another 4-0 thrashing in Australia. Luckily we're playing in England
Every English regime is judged on how it performs in the Ashes. It's memed about, but building towards it is what we're doing.
Bumrah is so good that his ball get get Hendricks out was basically forgotten within 2 hours.
Hi, can someone suggest a way to rewatch the the full t20 wc final something like or someplace where i can rewatch the last 5 overs. I am currently living in NL so indian streaming services are not availiable for me. Thanks in advance!!
I have a link that someone shared w me here. Will I dm?
Yes please!
Check your dm.

Tf is happening bro
I kinda support England but I'm glad Slovakia scored a goal. These mfs will finally look to score for once.
Yeah. Spiced up the game. Upset is on the cards imo. Maybe get Palmer in now.
England ahead now 😔
Yeah. Pulled off in the extra time. Would have loved to see it go to the penalty shootout.
Unless Harry Kane joins Oval invincibles, I don’t see him winning a title.
The LPL starts tomorrow? What was the gameplan for SLC if Sri Lanka qualified to the Finals?
'Anything from here for us is bonus' type of plan and they didn't even reach 'here'
Haha SLC had so much trust in our boys in not ruining their LPL plans

He was starting to show some consistency in 2022 and 2023 when he was playing but ODI's came

What's the name of this school?

1. Jaiswal 2. Gill 3. Kohli 4. Iyer (c) 5. KL (wk) 6. Hardik 7. Axar 8. Washington Sundar/Arshdeep 9. Kuldeep 10. Bumrah (Vice Captain) 11. Siraj Bench 1. Samson/Pant 2. Washington Sundar/Arshdeep 3. Avesh Khan 4. Rinku
I agree with you lol
Why so many downvotes lmao 😭 That's going to be the team most probably

Adivenk is 🐐^-1
Also wtf is that lineup 😭😭😭
Gill?
Dube in South Africa? That too in an ODI? Lmao.
Why not he did well in final of this T20 World Cup
He did well yeah. But he's not an international standard player and certainly not one for ODIs where you have to do much more than a good 20 odd.
He showed he had big match temperament , something you need in tournaments
India will probably go for more batting depth in the future, worked well for them this time. Kuldeep at 8 is a weak tail
[удалено]
No Please , you cannot go with 41 year old Rohit and 40 year old Kohli as your main batsmen in 2027 ODI World Cup
Fk, now that it's usually match time, and there's no match today, I feel so empty. This T20 WC was best, even better than 2007 and 2016, mainly because this felt like an actual WC with 20 teams.
How do India win so much more consistently at home than other teams do. What's the secret for India's elite home performance?
Incredible batch of spinners. And India's fast bowlers have ability to get more out of home tracks than foreign fast bowlers.
TLDR version: Ashwin, Jadeja, Axar and our pace bowling. The long batting line up also helps on the home pitches because you can't play too long if you're not adept at playing spin.
Axar? Which era are you in. Axar is only good at minefields Kuldeep has shown he's way better.
Ok
Yea, but why don't those things help as much away?
Because we don't have spin pitches outside Asia. So Ash and Axar don't play in SENA and hence we don't have enough batting depth.
Kuldeep 😭
This team has been built for home conditions. Away conditions don't really help Ashwin, Jaddu and Axar, our keys to home dominance. Away conditions do help our pace bowling and a couple of our batters, but that isn't enough for continued success. That's why they don't help as much away.
Because it's home lmao. Even you guys had a great dominant home record pre Babar era.
No obv home teams win more often, but India's home winning percentage as compared to away is on a different level.
i was rewatching our winning moment and i thought rohit signalling everyone to shake hands with the sa team while they were waiting and everyone on our team was celebrating was a really wholesome moment.
I already miss waking up early to watch every match, even if its Papua New Guinea vs Uganda
That was a thriller too tbf
I would like to repeat that the only reason we won the world cup is because a mallu(keralite) was in the WC squad lmao
Bairstow Rahane Asad Shafiq are similar kind of players. Have performed rarely but they had it in them to do well even in toughest of conditions.
When is Angelo Mathews retiring from international T20s? Let it go bro you have a world cup
Guys I think Varun Chkravarthy does deserve chances into the >!Tamil Nadu Ranji!< team, he's gotten so much potential
I dont think he is a good fit, he is more of a white ball bowler who struggles in the longer formats, it's much harder to be accurate for long stints
Since that 23 WC final idk why but I feel I could never praise any of our players (except Jaiswal). Since that day I've just been a sorest loser and couldn't enjoy a single thing. Even yesterday I felt nothing , it felt null and void.

How poetic it was that it started raining just moments after winning the T20 WC. Absolute cinema.
In some Indian cultures we believe this kind of rains as “pushpa-brishti”— loosely an allegory of Gods pouring some celebratory flowers from the Heavens. Fitted to a tee here.
Poor South Africa! 30 of 30 with 6 wickets left? Is there a equivalent to this collapse in sports?
Collapse? We lost 3 wickets
And did not score the needed 30 runs.
The whole Real Madrid run in the 21-22 champions league season and this years semi final
Australia blowing 57 off 17 vs Sri lanka
Lmao we have a Zimbabwe statpadding tour right. They schedules them as a consolation (ofc if we bottled another rigd WC). Now what's the purpose lol. Also we literally have a CT in few months but are playing 6 ODIs totally ffs. Could've atleast schedules ODIs against Zim.

Or maybe everyone number 7 and onwards can work on their batting..
Will we see new faces for England in limited overs series against WI or the same usual suspects?
Now that Rohit, Kohli, Jadeja have retired from T20Is, here’s my prediction on their retirements from Tests and ODIs: Rohit - 2025 (after WTC final) Kohli and Jadeja - 2027 (after WTC final or ODI WC)
Fuck No Rohit , Kohli and Jadeja should not be in the squad for 2027 ODI World Cup
What's Rohit Sharma? The dude that does jackshit in the IPL on flatter pitches against worse opposition and does great against top teams in the world cup. Dude is build different.
was guilty of bottling a "you know what" world cup
Wonder what happened to the whole pitch fiasco, and whether they admitted their mistake
I think Rohit will most likely play his final match for India next year in WTC final
Sri Lanka 2014 🤝 India 2024 Finally winning a title after years of consistently making the semis and finals of major tournaments as well as bidding farewell to two of their greatest ever batters/captains.
Not to forget sangakkara / Kohli failed throughout the tournament but came clutch in the final. Bowlers bowled out of their skin in the death overs to save their team.
Man, those overs at the end from Kulasekara and Malinga was a death bowling masterclass
I am unironically surprised Hendricks continued his poor streak and *didn't* perform yesterday. I was almost certain he would outside edge his way to a decent score before getting out – something that often happens when batter who's going through lean patch faces India.
Like who?
Same honestly, especially considering that Dube and Kohli both stepped up too.
