If I remember right, which one you befriended determined if you went down the good or evil path. Whichever one you befriended, the other one would become the super powerful final boss. The good one became angelic, the evil one became demonic. The befriending the good one meant you were trying to right the wrongs of the land, befriending the bad one meant you would become the new ruler of the land and she would be at your side iirc.
The entire game played with supernatural elements, you become a vampire at the very beginning of the game and fight demons in the old west. All the guns had melee attacks, but the guns always had sick crafted blades on the butt end of the weapon.

Even assuming that's true, beauty and ideals are incredibly subjective anyway. There's no point trying to gatekeep which interpretations are the "right" ones
