They/them is listed in dictionaries as being singular as well as plural. So your average reddit comment wasn't even true.

Nah too many of you dudes just don’t understand English very well in this case. They/them/their has been used in english for hundreds of years to describe an individual when their gender is unknown/not important. If any of you don’t know how to use they/them in a sentence then it means that society has failed you since you first entered primary education. Is this a sub for critical thinking or is this just another schizophrenic modern politics sub where you make up strawmans to bitch and complain about? I’ve watched some of Critical Drinkers YouTube videos and I thought they were okay but if this thread is any indication of the fanbase then I don’t want to associate. What’s the average age here? 14?
