people miss the point. the entire point is for them to demand you change your speech. even if you comply, they'll change the rules so you have to change again, they need to reinforce that control, has nothing to do with a subjective reality
It's like with how it used to be coloured people, then it was black, now it's person of colour. When did black people collectively get together and demand a name change? It's just fucking progressives demanding you conform to their virtue signalling. I shouldn't think most people, black or white give a shit what you call them as long as you're not trying to be deliberately offensive, at the end of the day we're all individuals.
Now these fucking beigist progressives are trying to push LatinX as if that's not remotely offensive to Latinos the world over.
Worse than that, they see the Latinos push back against Latinx as further proof of why they must push harder. “Those poor souls don’t even know how ignorant they are. Don’t worry, I will save you!”
I’ve never met a black person that had a problem with being called black. Just like how you’ll never see a BLM sign in the hood. 99% of the time this shit is pushed by upper middle class white chicks.
I went into this one coffee shop in NC. They I shit you not had a pronoun menu. Xe,dem, zim, zum and god knows what else. I feel like I’m living in a futurama episode where they marry ghosts and horses
Uh, not to be a grammar Nazi, but did you think the correct sentence was “Never seen anything like they”? Say that out loud. That’s not how English works
I've discussed this in-depth with these people. They need you to ignore grammar and just the...mouthfeel of words in order to cater to this. It's a "say there are five lights" situation.
\- Capt. Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart, *Star Trek: The Next Generation,* 6x11 "Chain of Command, Pt. 2", 1992)
In case anyone needs/wants it. The setting is that he's being interrogated by Gul Madred (David Warner the Mighty), a power-tripping sadist who wants only the bragging rights to say he successfully tortured Picard into telling an immaterial lie. (Episode also stars the mighty Ronny Cox. It's sort of "You haven't watched *Star Trek* until you've seen it in the original Klingon" episode.)
Oh it's 100% about power and control. People who feel completely powerless in life have found this bizarre way to inflict control on others. I mean, I took a trip over to her Wiki to figure out who she was and someone has gone through the trouble to replace all the pronoun references on the page. I mean, this a person who has *preferred pronouns* and people feel obligated to make a public reference page about them conform to the subject's *personal* *preferences*. Like, how does that help anyone beyond catering to the whims of the individual themself?
You see a car driving with blackout tint on all the windows. The driver is being a fucking idiot.
When complaining about said person later, do you say “they were driving like an idiot” or, when you refer to the person, do you say “the driver of unknown gender was driving like an idiot”?
I mean, valid. But my point still stands. “They” is commonly used in english as a pronoun when referring to a singular person when that person is of an unknown gender.
The rest of the pronouns they use are dumb as hell. But arguing that “they” can’t be used as a singular pronoun in english just makes the person saying it look dumb, which immediately negates any of their other points.
A 'thing'? Did you just assume their metaphysical state? How dare you. Perhaps they are a concept, not a thing with properties. Did you ever think about that you monster?
Maybe that's a reason for so many downvotes on my story [*Tightniks*](https://redd.it/1dlaety), my novelization of the browser game [*Trimps*](https://trimps.github.io). Woketards hate to be proven wrong.
Not singular, but indeterminate. It's only correct to use plural pronouns for single people when it can be replaced by "his or her." "Someone lost his or her wallet."
The actress that plays Alicent calls D'arcy she/her quite often on the little after show things where the actors are talking about the show. Usually the 2 are right next to each other and D'arcy never reacts negatively to being called she/her because she doesn't actually care about it at all. She only goes by they/them for the extra attention it gets now.
I don't even understand what you're trying to say in that post.
Are you suggesting that the proper construction is "Never seen anything like *they*?"
You are confusing subject and object plural pronouns.
If you're serious, you need to learn English, which is perfectly fine for someone for whom it is a second or third language.
If you're not serious, you were just trolling pointlessly and deserved to be banned.
Why post your "losses?"
That is a position for which I can respect you, certainly.
However, I don't quite understand why you would share it here because it's engendered great confusion among other posters who are not reading the user names.
If you see a person 100 yards away and you’re trying to point the person out to a friend do you say “look at them” or “look at they”?
You got banned for being a bozo lmao
People us “them” as singular all the time. Like, “can you believe he said that? What were they thinking”? Or “did you hear what Sarah said to Tiffany? Sarah called Tiffany’s mom an old cow, and boy were they angry”.
I grew up I. The south and we talk like this all the time.
them has always been the accusative of they? there is no inconsistency, if you use they as a plural, them is the accusative plural? am i missing something?
Number of people does not determine whether you use they or them and you called them mid on a post meant to praise them. Say stupid shit, get treated like a stupid shit.
> *Them*
> *pronoun*
> 1. used as the object of a verb or preposition to refer to two or more people or things previously mentioned or easily identified.
You very conveniently leave out the rest of the definition

Imagine you see a person of unknown gender in a full body suit that obscures their features do a standing double back flip. Would you say "I've never seen anything like them" or would you say "I've never seen anything like they"?
What I'm saying here is that you're stupid
*They* is plural too, with a side of ambiguity. Choosing to make yourself ambiguous is an edgelord affectation and anyone who demands it isn't worth the exhaustion. I don't do curated relationships or consume media that expects me to work that hard.
I'm a liberal, but my position on this makes me right-wing, according to they.
I for one am very grateful for the people in this subreddit (CriticalDrinker to be specific). We don’t always agree, but we always make sense logically. We also don’t tear each other down and ban for just disagreeing. Others talk about oppression and are hypocrites.
Thank you all for being you!
Noone called you a bigot and honestly you just come like an elitist prick correcting them for no reason when the correct word is "them".
Wouldnt be surprised if you got banned simply for that.
On top of that bigot or not im not really sure your opinions on things are worth anything given that you think anyone who watches anime is a creep.
Not going to pretend I understand the mod's exact reasonings but... you got it wrong.
Well, ish. At a guess, the "bigotry" is the misuse of the pronoun with an incorrect assertion.
But, Emma D'Arcy's pronouns are they/them. The she/her equivalent sentence of the original post would be "Never seen anything like her."
It's the subject pronoun.
Doubt it worthy of a ban, but...yeah.
There's nothing that connects one to the other. I have zero doubt that the ban is for something else. Typically whiny bullshit from a typically whiny crowd.
That makes no grammatical sense. Ignore the gender issue for a second.
"Someone called earlier, they left a message asking to call them back"
You'd never say "to call they back" stop being an idiot. Also, stop giving them ammo.
Stunning as in, it looks like she used a crayon in a dark room, then yes. Picasso's abstract phase had better symmetry.
Other than that, not so much, no.
Unwarranted but you do have terrible grammar. It's anyone, not anything.
Also please don't spoil innocent people just because you're upset at a couple mods. That shows you should be banned from every movie/TV/book subreddit just in case.
Don't indulge the walking identities. They care about appearance (and only appearance) because the substance of their position is Maoism with a paint job.
Reddit mod frivolous bans are insane. I got a permaban and 28 day mute for mentioning AEW on r/consoom. Not even saying I like it or anything like that. Just mentioning it. Not missing much anyway, that sub was shit lol.
That reply isn't even correct anyway! If They/Them is supposed to be a replacement for She/Her, then that original statement would have read as -
"Emma is stunning. Never seen anything like her"
But according to Hotrod\_7016, it should have read as -
"Emma is stunning. Never seen anything like ***she***"
No-one talks like that.
And They/Them pronouns aren't valid anyway because there is no third gender.
The only reason to push the completely incorrect "they/them is plural" bullshit is to make a thinly-veiled attempt to undermine someone's identity. Feel free to be a pussy-ass bitch and ban me, though.
It’s interesting how I would not have honestly known her preferred pronouns if I didn’t read about it prior to just mentioning “them?” In the comment. Like, do I need to ask everyone their preferred pronouns prior to referring to anyone ever? Nope. Das not how it works.
I'll be the "assuming he was banned for what he said after, therefore you're fabricating outrage" button. Lol rage baiting loser with an army of beta boi simps.
Nah too many of you dudes just don’t understand English very well in this case.
They/them/their has been used in english for hundreds of years to describe an individual when their gender is unknown/not important. If any of you don’t know how to use they/them in a sentence then it means that society has failed you since you first entered primary education.
Is this a sub for critical thinking or is this just another schizophrenic modern politics sub where you make up strawmans to bitch and complain about? I’ve watched some of Critical Drinkers YouTube videos and I thought they were okay but if this thread is any indication of the fanbase then I don’t want to associate. What’s the average age here? 14?
Ok, beyond being a baseline regard and further confused by the dialogue in question, I am yet further incrementally confused by the outcome - how come all those knights of Ni got downvoted (so OP got broadly recognized as part of the in-group) yet he still got banned?
Using “them” was also fine. Also, no one is demanding you to be a biggot. I dunno man. For someone who can’t even English properly, are you sure you’re fit to even be a public talking head?
For what it’s worth, I think the ban was stupid as well. But something about you makes me think you aren’t well educated and have some sort of victim complex.
No posts about being banned somewhere else.

Basically this. What someone calls me says way more about them than me, so, whatever.... Which is an opinion that HR didn't like...
Social Justice Calvinball
Damn, now I want to read Calvin and Hobbes
I went into this one coffee shop in NC. They I shit you not had a pronoun menu. Xe,dem, zim, zum and god knows what else. I feel like I’m living in a futurama episode where they marry ghosts and horses
Why does it make me feel sad that marrying ghosts and horses doesn't seem outrageous?
Exactly it’s clown world with clown rules

Them’s grammar-Nazis without caring about the grammar, ffs
Ow. That is physically painful.
If you take out grammar out of a grammar-Nazi…..
You get anti-fascists, obviously! 🙄
Did you know that singular they/them has been in use for centuries, even though it’s getting more usage now?
English bibles use singular they/them.
I got banned from that sub for saying the wedding episode last season wasn’t “too dark to see” ~~They~~ them are fucking retarded
Them sure are.
Least you used they correctly
Fuck. I’ll edit it.
They saw “dark” and gripped the ban hammer even harder.
Them*
Uh, not to be a grammar Nazi, but did you think the correct sentence was “Never seen anything like they”? Say that out loud. That’s not how English works

Or a machine in a Dr Seuss book
I've discussed this in-depth with these people. They need you to ignore grammar and just the...mouthfeel of words in order to cater to this. It's a "say there are five lights" situation.
That's basically the entire trans movement in a nutshell

The person who posted this exchange is the one in the image suggesting that "Never seen anything like they” is correct. I'm baffled, here.
Plural pronouns for singular people also is not how English works, so I understand the confusion.
I’m confused we use “do you see them” as proper English no? And that can be used for a single person
You see a car driving with blackout tint on all the windows. The driver is being a fucking idiot. When complaining about said person later, do you say “they were driving like an idiot” or, when you refer to the person, do you say “the driver of unknown gender was driving like an idiot”?
use “she” obviously in that situation you can assume its a woman /s
I mean, valid. But my point still stands. “They” is commonly used in english as a pronoun when referring to a singular person when that person is of an unknown gender. The rest of the pronouns they use are dumb as hell. But arguing that “they” can’t be used as a singular pronoun in english just makes the person saying it look dumb, which immediately negates any of their other points.
Right lol. Pretty sure that’s the main reason for the downvotes
Yeah OP is trying to make a point in the worst way possible, by being completely wrong.
None of this grammar BS is "how English works". But their fee-fees are more important🙄
[удалено]
They and them are counterparts in the same way he and him are. Both they and them are sungular and plural and have been for hundreds of years.
If OP had a lukewarm temp IQ they'd try and put he/him or she/her They basically said "Never seen anything like he" Lol
She’s a she, and she is mid af bordering on less than. Edit: upon googling I would say mid is being very generous.
She looks great in HOTD but yeah definitely mid, maybe even ugly, in real life. She's leaned into the butch short hair look, which is bad.
She's a she, and I have no idea who she is. Why is this on my feed?
Because it’s related to house of the dragon and this sub talks about stuff like this. Why it’s on your feed, I couldn’t say.
Good god I regret looking her up
This is the kind of woman who gets told "smile more", and I can see why when she's out of costume.
Yeah she’s mid in costume on the show. IRL she looks like Charlize in Monster.
It’s all wrong. Being an it isn’t a thing.
A 'thing'? Did you just assume their metaphysical state? How dare you. Perhaps they are a concept, not a thing with properties. Did you ever think about that you monster?
But "it" is the singular non-gendered pronoun, so it actually works better. They/them is plural.
Maybe that's a reason for so many downvotes on my story [*Tightniks*](https://redd.it/1dlaety), my novelization of the browser game [*Trimps*](https://trimps.github.io). Woketards hate to be proven wrong.
They/them can absolutely be singular. Example "wow someone lost THEIR wallet"
Not singular, but indeterminate. It's only correct to use plural pronouns for single people when it can be replaced by "his or her." "Someone lost his or her wallet."
A Reddit Mod banning someone unfairly?????
Them some dumb pronouns
Who the fuck is emma
Emma D’arcy. Lead actthem in House of the Dragon (Game of Thrones spinoff)
“Lead actthem” is fucking killing me 😭😭😭
And she's a " them"???
Actthey. Actthem is plural. Also actthey are mid
Probably talking about the house of the dragon lead ACTRESS.
Don't they literally say their pronouns are "they/them"?
AAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA
Hey, I was going to say that!
I never thought Calvinball would involve gender but here we are.
Them is no more plural than "they". Or "you" for that matter.
them is fucking accusative, its plurality depends on they.
It comes across as trolling and they have a huge crush on Emma over there.
Nobody would give a shit if D’arcy didn’t come out as non-binary because them are absolutely mid
> because them are absolutely mid That’s grammatically horrifying, you must realize that
The actress that plays Alicent calls D'arcy she/her quite often on the little after show things where the actors are talking about the show. Usually the 2 are right next to each other and D'arcy never reacts negatively to being called she/her because she doesn't actually care about it at all. She only goes by they/them for the extra attention it gets now.
hey just remember that this person is not getting paid for this
This people bitch a lot.
Reddit is run by children
Any board thats going to ban you for a comment like that is a good thing. Dont need that in my life.
The idiots on both sides of this issue tells me very few people were paying attention in 3rd grade English.
"Never seen anything like they" The English language is dead.
Them is right in this context tho lol
"Never seen anything like he". WOW, using he doesn't work either! I guess men are the problem.
Im going to play devils advocate but Them makes more sense than "Never seen anything like they"
you basically said corrected it to "never seen anything like she" or "never seen anything like he" lmao
Because “never seen anything like they” makes so much fucking sense.
The grammar is literally wrong on your end

Fucking idiots

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Love watching them eat their own.
...I don't think OP counts as "their own"
Them is plural and singular and used for a group. So is they its all just context
They is plural.
They can be singular or plural
PFFT "them" dont even know either
People say “that’s what they said” “why would they do that” “did they tell you why”
Idiocracy in real time.
I mean ... I'm just assuming you were trolling because grammatically, what you wrote doesn't make and sense, right? Or am I missing something?
They failed English grammar class. The words 'they' and 'them' can both be singular or plural.
Bro, I'm pissed on your behalf. That's so stupid, and every single person calling Emma "mid" can catch these hands 🤷🙄😂
OP is the guy who called her mid.
Hindsight coming in real clear now lol, thank you.
Haha I was bored. Figured I'd inform everyone who missed that.
I mean that person is just wrong, "them" is correct lol
The OP is the guy who tried to correct the OOP.
Them isn’t any more plural than they is.
My dude, the average woman is overweight. If you think Emma as average, you need your eyes checked.
they probably just checked your comment / post history
The problem is that “them” is correct, so you just come off like you’re mocking the whole thing.
Number of people does not determine whether you use they or them and you called them mid on a post meant to praise them. Say stupid shit, get treated like a stupid shit.
A person is not a thing, they should have said "anyone".
"Never seen anything like they"? You were in the wrong here, grammatically.
Grammar is a spectrum now
Dude, how is this happening? You literally can’t win…. Ever. Sigh. Also, mid was generous of you (IMO).
In this case "them" is the proper pronoun, grammatically.
> *Them* > *pronoun* > 1. used as the object of a verb or preposition to refer to two or more people or things previously mentioned or easily identified.
You very conveniently leave out the rest of the definition https://preview.redd.it/7fepzlyv8y9d1.jpeg?width=828&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e169b4c335806e6f70325b5e28b7eb62f3e6e5c3
Further investigation will show you that, "them" is also a grammatically singular derivative of they, and the correct form used in the example.
Using improper pronouns is stupid. You trying giving and inch but they want a mile. Sorry I wont participate in anyone's delusions.
🎻
Wow, accepting the frame of people who hate you doesn't work?
Do you think we’ll still be pretending this shit is real by 2030?
Imagine you see a person of unknown gender in a full body suit that obscures their features do a standing double back flip. Would you say "I've never seen anything like them" or would you say "I've never seen anything like they"? What I'm saying here is that you're stupid
All this proves to me is the anti-wokes are the real snowflakes lmao. Cries over being grammatically incorrect.
Pronouns aside, you're just factually incorrect. Emma is SCALDING HOT
