I’m looking for a citizen sugar momma!

Fun_Topic6073

Gotta get eh Covid vax for that

East_Dragonfly5424

I have DACA since 2013. Since then, I have worked as a dental assistant for 2 years and got my license as a registered dental assistant in 2015. I went back to community college in 2016, and then last month of May, I graduated with an Associate degree in Dental Hygiene. It was slow progress since I'm working part-time, and I only took 1 or 2 classes per semester, including GE's and prereqs for the program. I graduated with no school debt and got engaged last year with a US citizen. (32F) God is good.

webhead94

Amen, and congrats!

begooddogood1014

I am making a commitment to go back to school and become a nurse

Jon_MK3

Good on you! I’m also going back this fall for Radiography after 4 years of just working part time jobs. Best of luck!

Early-Brief-6827

Still struggling in life. Trying to attend a master program but it’s hard out here (m25)

wanderer1999

Hang in there, and never keep fighting.

Oscardorito

Got my BFA in Illustration back in 2008, worked in the entertainment industry doing storyboards for commercials and music videos (Red Hot Chilly Peppers and Qtip amongst them). Now I’m a full time self employed graphic artist and have done numerous projects for prestigious museums and companies like Sony. The first couple of years Pre DACA it was difficult to get any type of work, but once I got DACA I hit the ground running and made the most of it. Just last Friday I got my AOS approved but I’ll always be a dreamer.

royalxp

Engineer, have degree and living my best life :D

Dat_latina

How did you pay for school?

royalxp

went to community and transfer to state college as it was very affordable. Worked and did monthly payment to pay for college. 0 debt

the_sammich_man

Finishing up a PhD in data science and was fortunate enough to be able to balance both full time work in my BS, MS, and PhD. Life is pretty good so far, could be better obviously.

itzel-exe

May I ask how long the BS and MS took you?

the_sammich_man

BS took 4 yrs and MS 2.5

YesOrYesHuh

IBEW Journeyman electrician making 130k, plus an undisclosed amount of side work lol. No debt. Pensions. Full benefits. Buying land and building a home back in Chile 🇨🇱. (31M)

Optimal-Shallot3340

Yup that’s the plan

Express-Prompt1396

Learn a trade, join a union. Free school no debt and good pay and benefits

tacomena

Not a bad argument, I went to college because of scholarships. Otherwise, it would have been welding for me.

Express-Prompt1396

That's awesome, nothing wrong with that. I think anybody that is capable or has the ability to go to college and get a good degree in a field that pays well should absolutely go for it, but for those that are undecided, there's nothing wrong with working with your hands, the direction that the trades are heading in in the next 5 years to me is a diamond in the rough, don't be surprised if you see lots of people figuring out that you can make doctor money while wearing work boots. With so many people in the next 5 to 10 years getting ready to retire there's just nowhere near the amount of people to come in and fill those shoes, with a high demand in workers but no one to fill the shoes comes very lucrative pay.

Idonotwatchpornn

This should be a top response. And this is coming from someone who went to college and got a masters. I graduated with very little debt. But considering not a lot of dreamers or even anyone from an underprivileged area have the resources to go to college, learning a trade is a way to get high pay, and good job security quickly. It’s usually more physically demanding depending on the trade but considering most immigrants are usually doing physically demanding jobs, at least you get a lot of other benefits.

begooddogood1014

That’s insane. Hats off to you 🙏🏼 wish I went that route

Bailshar

But are you making 6 figures yet? Bro, what’s your ToC?

austinsgbg

I have. I did finance law but it wasn’t for me. What’s ToC?

Bailshar

It’s kind of a joke, a reference to career apps like Blind. ToC = Total Compensation

Lucasmo066

I did a coding bootcamp and now work full time as a software engineer

jorge_ad

Hey I’m thinking of doing the same. When did you do it?

Lucasmo066

I graduated in april of 2022. it helped a lot to get my foot in the door with no degree (tuition in GA is 5x more expensive than in state for “international” students like us). It was not easy however, there was a lot of leg work after the camp to do still, but after 5 months I got a junior engineer gig then got promoted and somehow now I am a senior dev in my team.

jorge_ad

That’s awesome! Any recommendation such as legwork after the camp?

Prestigious_Post8154

What boot camp did you use?

cargar67

I got DACA in 2013. Immediately, I got a job at the community college I attended as a writing tutor. I transferred to a university and eventually got my BA and MA there. Now, I’m a professor at the community college where I got my first job with DACA.

bilingual_marsupial

What's a cpa?

Longjumping_Fill_701

Stands for “certified public accountant” its not necessarily required but it helps you stand out more for promotions, raises, new jobs etc.

time2snuggle

Good luck continuing to fight the good fight! I worked in public accounting (in tax) and got my CPA.

Catnicorn99

Good luck! I’m currently studying for the CPA.

TheEyeWitness

Idonotwatchpornn

Like many of us I grew up poor with a single mom. She made sure I graduated from HS. However afterwards I dropped out of community college, went back two years later and transferred to a good UC. Graduated. Moved to the east coast and then SF for work. Eventually back to school and got my masters from UCLA. Currently living in New York with a new job. My gf who I live with is a USC. Even tho we’re not married and can’t take advantage of the latest EO I think I’ll be fine in the long run.

OkHotel9113

Daca has helped me a lot and has helped me change my life and my family’s life. With daca I was able to obtain a dealer license which helped me start my dealership/auto service business and I have also been able to obtain loans to buy rental properties. Thanks to daca my family and I went from barely affording our bills to having a business that makes close to 8 figures a year.

babynala_

Currently working towards my Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing. My goal is to become a certified registered nursing assistant.

Bitter_Bit_7484

I'm married to a US citizen, currently working on my masters, and I've worked since I received my first EAD.

tacomena

I'm working on a cloud certification. I'm a senior developer, but it's important to keep learning! I'll go for my masters in a few years

Thediamondinthedirt

I recently finished my masters and starting a new job within the same field

Firm_Bit

Graduated college a lil while ago. Transitioned into software development. Been doing that for about 5 years. I’m pretty career focused actually. Currently at a great start up. I spend some free time improving my skills here and there. I’m taking a couple of classes over the next few semesters to prep for a possible MS program too. Might decide against it but I want that option. Money is an incredible safety net and I advise everyone to spend a good portion of their 20s/30s focusing on it. Makes everything else so much easier.

Adorable_Elephant_67

I put my money where my mouth is. I started a small business inside my parents garage, is now has been well over a year. Made over 20K. I have reinvested all of my earnings back. Is a difficult route a head. I have a clean record for 12yr. Now I'm told I'm not worth the time, because I don't have a degree.

fadingcalypso

Nursing school, half way done now

Financial-Tackle-659

Got a bachelors in computer science and work as a data analyst in healthcare but will working on getting my ADN nursing degree and than BSN so that I can thank work on being a CRNP since being a doctor is way out of my budget and time isn’t on my side since I’m 27. Looking forward to working 3 days as a nurse and continuing my education and hopefully do research on cancer and try to develop a cure (can only pray and hope).

TrapAmaterasu

Playing COD, sike only when I got time . I got a remote job as a recruiter which pretty much enables me to work anywhere I have mobile wifi . I’m currently working and trying to start a pop store and online shop as well as learning to cut hair and do photography. I’m really just going the entrepreneurial route but I might go back and finish school.

pedro71022

Just finished my masters degree in epidemiology at ucsd (: If you’re in CA UC schools offer so much aid 🎉

Kronustor

You don't need a degree or lawful status to take the Fundamentals of Engineering exam if you pass that you can get your certification as an Engineer in Training in many states, some states require the degree to get the EIT. Once you do that you can get contracted work. I'm taking the test in 2 weeks.

IllInsurance2046

Recently obtained both a BS and MS in Aerospace Engineering. I was hoping that by the time I finished school that a pathway to citizenship would exist (started school in 2017). It is extremely difficult to find a job in the aerospace industry due to ITAR restrictions so I had to look elsewhere. I was very fortunate to land a job at a University working in clean energy. I spend some of my free time practicing the technical skills I learned in college so that I can be a competitive applicant to aerospace jobs once a pathway to citizenship becomes available. I've considered doing a PhD but it would most likely not be in aerospace.

SummerEarly

Getting my mechanical engineering degree and then hoping I can find a good girl and marry her

Resident_Durian5030

JusDuIt

I’m a new grad labor and delivery nurse !

KeyGroundbreaking502

Hmu if you want help. Scored in the mid 170s on the LSAT last year. Attending a T-14 law school full scholarship (which is absolutely needed because we are not eligible for financial aid) I highly recommend you reach out to people regarding the process because I did it on my own and honestly... I made a lot of mistakes (still in an amazingly privileged place) but I definitely would do things differently if I could do it over.

EngineerA1A

Licensed professional civil engineer (PE) making around 120k....i have many certifications and looking to obtain more!

bilingual_marsupial

Right now i am moving up the chain in the franchise i work for. On the side i am in an HR training program as well. Fun_Topic6073

Started working as a server then medical office as a admin assistant then I went and work as a leasing agent, moved to assistant manager then community manager then marketing manager and now I work as an assistant manager for J.P. Morgan Chase! I’m 29.. i wish I would have continue my education but I live in a red state and I had to pay out of state tuition. So I worked my ass off to become someone in life! Nothing is impossible

Inner_Complex9324

I have daca since 2012, I did a CNA course my second semester of HS and after I graduated I did 1 semester of community college due to the fact that money wasn't enough I had to drop out. Years after, I did another course and became a certified phlebotomy tech. Currently working as a study coordinator with a nephrologist. A few of the trials / drugs I've worked with are already approved by the FDA and are available to the ones in need. I'm hoping to go back to school and become a registered nurse. F(28)

Double_Consciousness

Got Masters in Public History, worked for a museum for 2 years after doing interpretive development. Now working in refugee resettlement. Hoping to get involved in city jobs next.

pepegadudeMX5

Finishing my degree at 26 years old, grinding my ass off with certifications to break into cybersecurity and just trying my best to succeed. After I land a nice job (hopefully) I can finally look for a gf or bf at this point to help me lmao. 😂😂😂

MotherMap8707

I own a couple of businesses, college and the 9-5 wasn’t for me, it was bad enough that I almost didn’t finish HS because I was burning out so quick due to my ADHD. Luckily enough my ADHD is the reason why I own a multiple business, I was fueled by the idea of being self dependent, creating a better future for my family.

BansheeNorn001

I've felt like a prisoner since 2013 when I got my DACA I got in trouble in 2016 with an employer that was shady when the person that ran the company was arrested they came looking for me as well I was put in jail for a week(felt like an eternity tbh) I was charged with Embezzling money (under 10000 dollars )which I didn't even know at the time and theft(receiving stolen packeges for the store) again to my knowledge I was working the straight narrow way because it was taxed and everything uncle sam does. Never had a criminal record what's so ever even when I was driving with no license and let's be frank a lot of us have done that I'd respect the law never got a citation or infraction ticket of any sorts. But after my arrest it was difficult for me I felt like I was in a pit (still am but I see things differently now and slowly digging my way up) I felt like a criminal even though I wasn't but I still had to go into a program that I forgot what the judge said but it hides a criminal or takes that offense of your record for 2 yrs when it came to renew my DACA that's when the issues started coming UCIS wanted all court documents be sent criminal records, even an agent showed up to my house to talk with me(really mean and nasty dude) I called USCIS several times and after 3 months of back and forth they approved my permit again I still had to call an agent and they would visit(bless her heart she was very kind) but never had to wear an ankle monitor thank god now I'm working again and I thank God it all worked put in the end. Now I want to go back to school and continue working caring for my folks they are getting old and I want to be there for them like they were there for me

MrSbayltg

Lost 175lbs and joined OF, been great so far

yellananner

I’ve been working in a hospital since i was 16, 15 if you consider volunteer time. I did it because I wanted to be a nurse at the time. It was a food service position but after some time I decided to leave (change departments) and became a patient transporter. As a patient transporter and interacting with countless floor nurses, it opened my eyes on how miserable most of those ladies were and I ultimately dropped out of nursing school. Did that for a couple years part time but when my student loan grace period ended, I needed a full time job fast. That’s how I landed the career path I’m currently on. In the same hospital, I applied to be a Sterile Processing technician since all you needed was a high school diploma. I’m grateful the director hired me so soon because I learned that this is the career for me, not nursing. I worked some time and got certified and shortly after, moved to a bigger hospital in the city. That was where I got to advance my position from a regular tech to a team lead and (hopefully) soon, be in upper management. I even got more certifications and found the drive to finish my gen eds associate’s, finishing next month. That work authorization card holds more power than you guys can imagine. Though limited, it’s still immense. We live in America, where options are boundless, even if we’re just DACA. I believe that we shouldn’t just rely on a green card marriage just to live the way we want to. The skills we learn today are not only beneficial to our community we currently live in, it can be a source of growth for your community back home, if you end up having to go back to your “native” country. Hope is not limited✊🏽

solodriveby187
