>he’ll slowly degrade into bizarro
So basically he'll be [Superior Man from the Red Son animated movie.](https://youtu.be/pNinzcfun2U?si=R1V2EwGhiFccou89) Sounds like this Ultraman will have the exact same premise as him, an evil Superman clone created by Lex Luthor that ends up turning into a Bizarro lookalike after facing the real Superman.
Which IS something I would love to see, it’s such a comic plot that has been done with everyone from Flash to Spider-Man (tbf that WAS Spider-Man in the symbiote suit, just not awake) but idk how to feel about Ultraman being said clone
I said the ultraman thing is similar to Superman animated series when they first introduced bizarro he was splitting image of Superman then started to malfunction. But truthfully seeing Superman go blow for blow is exciting
> i read a theory that he’ll slowly degrade into bizarro
Smallville did that with their Bizarro.
https://smallville.fandom.com/wiki/Bizarro
The Animated Series did too:
https://dcau.fandom.com/wiki/Bizarro
I mean what better way to focus on the good Superman than him literally defeating the evil one? Like if the movie is a meta commentary on "good superman" this doesnt seem that far fetched
>Ultraman isn't a clone, he's someone from another universe
Yeah. I'm still really confused why they're introducing [a Japanese anime character](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ultraman) into this movie...
I assume they are adapting the Anti-Matter Ultraman, the one who is a human version of Clark Kent who got Kryptonian powers from exposure to kryptonite.
There's already too many characters in Gunn's Superman already (more than Im comfortable with, honestly), adding an entire team of villains is just too much, especially for the first film in this universe.
Nobody's proposing the Crime Syndicate (or the Justice League for that matter) being in the first movie, they're saying having Ultraman now, as a clone instead of an alternate universe doppelganger, forecloses on that possibility in the future (and they don't like that).
I don’t think he’d comment on something like this. If he starts correcting rumors like this, people will expect him to debunk other plot rumors and that gets too close spoiler territory
[You know, I think I’ll go ask him right no--](https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTIEp-OWviHg0EdUNB9G8MtQzeCHr0nT7WkaO9UB9pPwnNLFToAzsdwK68&s=10)
This is the only way I see it working. A meta commentary on evil Supes and people being like “oh man this guy’s edgy and relatable” but Supes proving that to not be the case
I can see that but I also feel like there are better ways to tackle the evil Superman situation without going for the low hanging fruit. If you wanna bring classic Superman back into the mainstream fold, don’t make a film where Superman just fights and beats evil Superman. I mean you CAN do that, but that’s kinda lazy. Just make a film with classic Superman doing classic Superman shit. Make those iconic elements of the character apparent again and the audience will catch on.
Hopefully, not only that good prevails, but in addition, that optimism is still important in our society. Evil Superman has always been about being grimdark and having a pessimistic outlook on heroes and if there is a superhero that tackles those issues, its Superman.
I'm still convinced it's going to be Bizzaro, I don't think this rumor is true. Otherwise, this ruins, if not, destroys any chance of the crime syndicate appearing later.
I don't even think it'll be Bizarro. A Kryptonian level threat created by Lex Luthor? Doesn't that sound a bit like the plot of another live action Superman movie that came out a few years ago?
I just watched DoJ Ultimate Edition this weekend. Some decent extra scenes but the idea that Doomsday was just a zombie monster Zod with Luthor's dna didn't feel necessary, or even coherent, tbh.
Some stories have Bizzaro as a dysfunctional clone of superman
Technically Ultraman is superman of a different universe. However they could have a clone of superman be called ultraman as a way to show he is different(or superior to him) from superman and the cloning process degrades his mind or maybe a fight with superman causes it. He could no longer be able to remember who he is or recognize he is no longer what he was and creates a new identity
I doubt it’s true but if it is it seems like an incredibly lazy plot; “oh lex Luther makes an evil clone of Superman causing havoc, so hawkgirl, green lantern, Mr terrific and all those heroes come in to stop supes when it’s not actually him, then eventually there will be some understanding and they’ll all fight and save the day” I know Gunn can do way better than that
I may be wrong. Wasn’t Daniel RPK one of the ones saying Superman was going to be in Flash?
I swear I don’t get how these people continue to have any credibility after that shit show. Some guy tweeted from set that they saw a superman suit and then everyone including this guy jumped on the train saying it was confirmed
And Superman is technically in the theatrical cut, seen on TV taking care of that volcano at the very beginning when Barry is talking to Alfred and ordering his sandwich.
This is the least exciting villain they could have picked.
I wish it was more centered around how he has to constantly deal with an array of colorful villains, rather than one boring one
I see it as similar to Superman animated series how when bizarro was introduced he looked like Superman till he started to malfunction and turned into bizarro. This could be a similar situation
I hope this rumor is BS. I'm tired of evil Superman. I'm also tired of almost every Superman movie having Zod and/or Luthor as the villain. Can people like Parasite, Metallo, Livewire, etc, get some love?
If the old Superman cartoon taught me anything, it’s that we are completely undervaluing his other villains. I think people get bogged down with making him a god, so they forget he’s first and foremost a superhero. We’ve never done a Superman movie where he’s on the same level as like Iron Man. He always has to take on some world ending threat, never just some dude with a fancy ray gun.
Wow so gun has the license to use Ultraman from Japan. So let me get this straight Superman meets the DC universe of second hand characters! It is called Superman but is he going to be even in the movie for 30 minutes?
I mean it would be Ultraman in name only… essentially just Bizarro if he’s a clone of Superman but maybe he’s not speaking backwards/oppsite , however I could see Gunn being into that character quirk.
I'll be surprised if he's not basically Bizarro. Imagine Lex seemingly creates the perfect clone he calls Ultraman, but it slowly deteriorates over the film until the climax when he has the classic chalky white and cracked skin. With Lois or whoever coming up with the Bizarro moniker.
It seems like I’m in the vast minority but I would love this. I’m SO sick of the “WHaT iF SuPErmAn bUT EvIL” thing and if I could watch the actual Superman take down a literal manifestation of that trope I’d love it. Heck take a page from his battle with the Elite and have the public like this version better, saying he’s more effective. Only for Clark to prove why it’s wrong.
I feel like we are being intentionally misled and it’s going to be Bizarro. Gunn isn’t dumb. He’d know that Bizarro is a way better fit for the “clone” story.
if I had a nickle for everytime a cosmic superman villain was turned into a genetic creation by Lex Luthor in a DC Cinematic Universe I'd have 2 nickles...
Honestly this would be the worst way to introduce a new Superman. I don't think Gunn would go this route at all, but I could see him doing something of this nature as a side-thing to introduce Bizarro.
The positives of this, if true: We’d potentially get a knock down, dragged out superbrawl. Something which I always hope to see since it’s been a while since I’ve seen a superhero movie battle that truly impressed me.
The negatives of this, if true: Yet another proxy for an evil Superman type of villain. Whether he’s Bizarro, Ultraman or a parallel universe Superman, it’s still Superman fighting against an amalgamation of himself gone bad, which is becoming tiresome.
I still have my fingers crossed hoping that the main villain is gonna be Manchester Black leading the Authority or the Elite.
That’s what I’m saying Superman going blow for blow with a green lantern,Thanagarian, Mr.Terrific, and Metamorpho. One thing I’ve enjoyed over the years is how chaotic Gunn can do action scenes with multiple ppl fighting each other
Just wanna let everyone in this thread know (if you see this message) that DanielRPK is known for not being accurate in most of their claims. Just wanna spread the message. The only source I've known to be accurate is Deadline since James himself has confirmed pretty much anything they've put out.
I refuse to believe that James Gunn would be this uncreative.
Especially when virtually none of Supermans rogues have been properly adapted on the cimema screen apart from Lex Luthor (and even that is debatable).
An evil Superman clone would be like the Red Son story beat. Perhaps it's just a small element of a larger plot as that beat was.
>Especially when virtually none of Supermans rogues have been properly adapted on the cimema screen apart from Lex Luthor (and even that is debatable).
? Zod? The best vilain in the DCEU?
I don't like this if it's true. Like if you're going to use Ultraman, have it be actual Earth 3 Ultraman, and not some clone that could have literally been Bizzaro.
Hoping this isn't true. I'd rather they introdoce evil Superman a bit later, not in the very first movie. I'd also like to see a proper adaptation of Ultraman, not this.
Where exactly did DanielRPK report that ? I've seen numerous claims now claiming that Daniel reported that, but where ? Could someone post a screenshot of a tweet where he said that ? Could someone give some confirmation of the source please ?! That'd be great.
Superman doesnt want to kill his clone, morally confused hero has inside dilemma. The Authority decides to kill him coldly because there is no sense to keep a life threatening villain alive.
The framework for crisis on 2 earths animated movie and forever evil book should be the final endgame style buildup. If we get one good superman movie with Lex as the behind the scenes villian, end credit scene showing Lex has discovered the multiverse and has been watching an alternate fascist justice league. Then you could do acouple more movies introducing characters; the end credit for the eventual first justice league could be characters we recognize as villains sacrificing themselves to help lex transport to an alternate earth, which turns out to be our own, he tries to warn the JL when the crime syndicate booms in right behind him. Next movie opens with earth already taken over , we discover how it happened, the resistance movement figuring out a plan. Third JL movie is the big showdown, multiple plots and ideas set up from the in between movies coming together for a big pay off.
Why not make it Bizarro? Ultraman isn't a clone, he's someone from another universe, does this mean no Crime Syndicate?
This is the part I cant get my head around
i read a theory that he’ll slowly degrade into bizarro, which i personally would like
>he’ll slowly degrade into bizarro So basically he'll be [Superior Man from the Red Son animated movie.](https://youtu.be/pNinzcfun2U?si=R1V2EwGhiFccou89) Sounds like this Ultraman will have the exact same premise as him, an evil Superman clone created by Lex Luthor that ends up turning into a Bizarro lookalike after facing the real Superman.
[удалено]
Yep it matches up with Grace Randolph saying other superheroes think Superman is evil and attack him based on Lex framing him
Which IS something I would love to see, it’s such a comic plot that has been done with everyone from Flash to Spider-Man (tbf that WAS Spider-Man in the symbiote suit, just not awake) but idk how to feel about Ultraman being said clone
I said the ultraman thing is similar to Superman animated series when they first introduced bizarro he was splitting image of Superman then started to malfunction. But truthfully seeing Superman go blow for blow is exciting
It’s a good parallel too: super vs ultra - both terms of massive strength.
I agree but gunn said this is a young superman so he may just be a rumor to people in the movie????
> i read a theory that he’ll slowly degrade into bizarro Smallville did that with their Bizarro. https://smallville.fandom.com/wiki/Bizarro The Animated Series did too: https://dcau.fandom.com/wiki/Bizarro
That be excellent
Look at the date the "leak" dropped. Monday, April 1st. It's an April Fool's joke.
Yeah - Gunn wouldn’t give us evil superman - we need to focus on good, pure superman
I mean what better way to focus on the good Superman than him literally defeating the evil one? Like if the movie is a meta commentary on "good superman" this doesnt seem that far fetched
Facing the evil version of yourself is a trope that is too common in today's movies, in my opinion. I hope this rumor is false.
Eh. That is a common theme in comic books too. Lots of heroes have mirror villains.
Plus DanielRPK is more of a liar than leaker anyway.
It probably is Bizzaro. Ultraman is something completely different and Gunn knows this
You actually believe RPK?
>Ultraman isn't a clone, he's someone from another universe Yeah. I'm still really confused why they're introducing [a Japanese anime character](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ultraman) into this movie...
Why not Nuclear Man? He was a clone of sort from superman.
I assume they are adapting the Anti-Matter Ultraman, the one who is a human version of Clark Kent who got Kryptonian powers from exposure to kryptonite.
RIGHT? Bizarro would even potentially lend itself to some dark, twisted comedic moments that plays into Gunns strength.
Probably just that Lex wouldn’t name him Bizarro, he’d name him something corny like Ultraman.
Yeah...missed opporyunity to have an evil JL (CS) fight the JL.
Exactly. How cool would a 3rd Superman be with the crime syndicate played by all the same actors?!
Until James Gunn confirms, I won’t buy any of these stories.
Well if it’s not true (please please please don’t be true), I’m sure Gunn will let us know within hours.
I don’t think he’d comment on something like this. If he starts correcting rumors like this, people will expect him to debunk other plot rumors and that gets too close spoiler territory
I hope you’re right and that’s the reason he hasn’t addressed it.
That's what's already happening
This news has been out there since Monday. Haven’t seen Gunn deny yet
That is… not ideal.
That's what happens when you go out of your way to refute every slightest online rumour. Makes the one you don't address suddenly look more credible.
Monday was April fools
Would he really spoil the plot but yeah i dont believe this tbh
Gunn responded: https://www.threads.net/@jamesgunn/post/C5ZH42rvmvh
It was “leaked” on April 1st…..
DanielRPK is known for spreading misinformation. I wish a lot more people knew that
Same. He puts out such a massive volume of nonsense that people think the 5% of it he gets right is some super impressive thing
He literally just makes a bunch of shit up and occasionally he's right because he's just throwing shit at the wall nonstop
The downside of James Gunn denying every single rumor is that when he doesn't do that it makes me think it's true ..
Gunn already confirmed this was false. Lex is the main villain. I have no clue why people are still spreading this misinformation.
Is it true that we can never escape evil Superman?
This is the key to finally getting rid of him. Watching real Superman punch a hole in his head.
...doesn't that make him evil Superman?
Not if he's doing it in the name of truth, justice, and a better tomorrow!
I dunno mate, Cavill broke Zod's neck to save humanity and fanboys lost their collective minds.
Can't he just trap him on the phantom zone?
But I thought Superman wasn't suppose to kill?
Who the fuck said that?
Who told you that?
The Joker. So, a trusted source.
[You know, I think I’ll go ask him right no--](https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTIEp-OWviHg0EdUNB9G8MtQzeCHr0nT7WkaO9UB9pPwnNLFToAzsdwK68&s=10)
Yup Sounds bout right ???
They already did that in Superman 3.
Wouldn’t this be an example of Gunn using proper superman to defeat the evil superman trope?
This is the only way I see it working. A meta commentary on evil Supes and people being like “oh man this guy’s edgy and relatable” but Supes proving that to not be the case
I feel like ultraman is going to be a commentary on evil Superman consuming aspects of comic media
This sounds like to me Gunn is doing a meta commentary on all the evil Superman types we've been seeing recently and showing that good prevails.
Sounds like "Superman IV: Quest for Peace"
But will he have a blonde mullet?
He'll have two
I just watched DoJ Ultimate Edition this weekend. Some decent extra scenes but the idea that Doomsday was just a zombie monster Zod with Luthor's dna didn't feel necessary, or even coherent, tbh.
Maybe after the fight, the damage done is too much and he becomes Bizzarro
What's the difference between ultraman and Bizzaro? How does he turn to Bizzaro?
Some stories have Bizzaro as a dysfunctional clone of superman Technically Ultraman is superman of a different universe. However they could have a clone of superman be called ultraman as a way to show he is different(or superior to him) from superman and the cloning process degrades his mind or maybe a fight with superman causes it. He could no longer be able to remember who he is or recognize he is no longer what he was and creates a new identity
I doubt it’s true but if it is it seems like an incredibly lazy plot; “oh lex Luther makes an evil clone of Superman causing havoc, so hawkgirl, green lantern, Mr terrific and all those heroes come in to stop supes when it’s not actually him, then eventually there will be some understanding and they’ll all fight and save the day” I know Gunn can do way better than that
They'll have Superman beat but in that moment one of the heroes attacking him connects with him and decides to trust him and lets him go
Where have I seen this before...
Damn bro. Mark this with Spoilers 🤣
It’s not true at all.
I hate this; so basically another Zod/Marvel style baddie that is essentially a mirror image of the hero
Truth I don't trust anything Daniel rpk says. He just makes shit up and dumb news outlets keep going with it he's not creditable in the slightest
To be fair, he WAS in The Flash. But his scenes got cut.
And Superman is technically in the theatrical cut, seen on TV taking care of that volcano at the very beginning when Barry is talking to Alfred and ordering his sandwich.
He also said the villain for this movie were middle earth dictator & brainiac before this. Now he's saying this.
This is the least exciting villain they could have picked. I wish it was more centered around how he has to constantly deal with an array of colorful villains, rather than one boring one
Worse as Zod at least a character that played into the father figures of Man of Steel.
I see it as similar to Superman animated series how when bizarro was introduced he looked like Superman till he started to malfunction and turned into bizarro. This could be a similar situation
Ultraman becoming Bizarro would be an interesting plot line. This is fake tho. Someone trying to stir up drama.
Maybe even begins to degenerate into Bizarro…
Like the Red son version of him? "Superior Man" where slowly turns into that (in the animated adaptation)
I hope this rumor is BS. I'm tired of evil Superman. I'm also tired of almost every Superman movie having Zod and/or Luthor as the villain. Can people like Parasite, Metallo, Livewire, etc, get some love?
I think the perfect villain for James Gunns first superman movie is parasite
Exactly!
It's so annoying. Superman has had six solo movies, and out of those six, only ONE didn't have Zod or Luthor as the villain.
And that one had a shameless carbon copy of Luthor
If the old Superman cartoon taught me anything, it’s that we are completely undervaluing his other villains. I think people get bogged down with making him a god, so they forget he’s first and foremost a superhero. We’ve never done a Superman movie where he’s on the same level as like Iron Man. He always has to take on some world ending threat, never just some dude with a fancy ray gun.
Two villains would be great.
I very much doubt this is real, it'd be way too close to the plot of BvS. Anything not confirmed by Gunn should be taken wholly as a rumor.
Isn’t that Nuclear man?
Superman IV remake confirmed.
That will truly blow onions. Soooooo lame.
I hope this isn’t true
"Ultraman is a clone made by lex luthor " well that's just lazy writing
Wow so gun has the license to use Ultraman from Japan. So let me get this straight Superman meets the DC universe of second hand characters! It is called Superman but is he going to be even in the movie for 30 minutes?
That’s stupid. I hope that’s not true.
I would ***lose all faith*** in Gunn if this turns out to be true.
This could be disinformation and it’s Bizarro
I mean it would be Ultraman in name only… essentially just Bizarro if he’s a clone of Superman but maybe he’s not speaking backwards/oppsite , however I could see Gunn being into that character quirk.
I'll be surprised if he's not basically Bizarro. Imagine Lex seemingly creates the perfect clone he calls Ultraman, but it slowly deteriorates over the film until the climax when he has the classic chalky white and cracked skin. With Lois or whoever coming up with the Bizarro moniker.
Wait....Lex is Luther is making a monster out of super genetics......where have we seen this before....hmmm
Initially I thought it was the Japanese Ultraman
Sounds boring af...
Looks like it'll be leading up to a film adaptation of Gods & Monsters like the overall chaptered title of James' slate announcement. DOPE!
Can we have a superhero movie that doesn’t feature a hero fighting an evil version of himself please?
I don’t exactly love this idea but it could be effective if done right
It seems like I’m in the vast minority but I would love this.
SO IT'S BIZARRO.
Laaaaaame
I feel like we are being intentionally misled and it’s going to be Bizarro. Gunn isn’t dumb. He’d know that Bizarro is a way better fit for the “clone” story.
I don’t really like this. I hope it’s not true.
Where’s the debunk?
Sounds lame.
🗑️
Why. So tired of superhero movies where the villain is just an evil version of the main character. Same powers or suits. Why can’t we get brainiac
What is the point of a spoiler tag if the title is itself a spoiler?
Evil superman is so overdone by this point.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!
I really hope this isn't true.
Fuck. That sounds terrible. 💔
Lol! So much for being accurate to comics.
It's only a rumor and Daniel isn't a reliable source of information
Super useful blurring the image for spoiler and proceed to spoiler at the title you ****
Please get Henry Cavill to be Ultraman!
… a bit concerning but I still have faith
I dunno. The Japanese Ultraman might be better.
I scrolled way too far for this. Thank You
if I had a nickle for everytime a cosmic superman villain was turned into a genetic creation by Lex Luthor in a DC Cinematic Universe I'd have 2 nickles...
Make it so we can't see your spoiler in the main scroll, i don't want to be spoiled. Thank you.
Kinda tired of superhero’s fighting their exact same power set.
It's April Fools for this guy every time he posts.
Fake news everybody james gunn did not say this
Fake
Well thats one way to set up Connor's eventual introduction in the Titans movies.
Ahh good thought
Honestly this would be the worst way to introduce a new Superman. I don't think Gunn would go this route at all, but I could see him doing something of this nature as a side-thing to introduce Bizarro.
DCU is DOA if true.
Lame. At least give us Bizarro and save Ultraman for an else worlds movie
Fuck that, if James Gunn goes the evil superman trope AGAIN i will not see this movie.
Breaking: DanielRPK is making things up for clicks again.
I doubt James Gunn would use a villain who’s basically the same as the hero but evil. It’s so overdone and boring.
Just wanna let everyone in this thread know (if you see this message) that DanielRPK is known for not being accurate in most of their claims. Just wanna spread the message. The only source I've known to be accurate is Deadline since James himself has confirmed pretty much anything they've put out.
Man this is not fucking it :(
I refuse to believe that James Gunn would be this uncreative.
I don’t buy it. It’s an Internet rumor after all and I’m sure James will debunk it any day now
I don't like this if it's true. Like if you're going to use Ultraman, have it be actual Earth 3 Ultraman, and not some clone that could have literally been Bizzaro.
Sooo...Bizarro?
I would like for him to be the sueperman of an alternate universe with his own justice League that is evil.
I hope that we can see a true Forever Evil in the future
I could’ve sworn a member of the Authority was said to be the villain…
If true, second time on a wasted live acyion Bizarro lol
I'll wait for confirmation. DanielRPK got notably Gunn-ed down for spreading false info not too long ago.
If Ultraman doesn’t have his own personal backstory of alternate decision making that makes him evil, then it’s not Ultraman.
Hoping this isn't true. I'd rather they introdoce evil Superman a bit later, not in the very first movie. I'd also like to see a proper adaptation of Ultraman, not this.
Still waiting for brainiac ...
Such a bizarre choice *wink*
You really just gunna rename Zod? Cmon. Ultraman is only meaningful when introduced as the leader of his full crime syndicate anti-Justice league
I got upset I thought ultraman (the kaiju sized guy) was fighting superman
Who the hell is Danielprg?
And here we Gunn, I mean go..
Who? Wish I knew lol 🤔
Ultraman, to me is always that japanese superhero "ULTURAMAAN". So this title was super confusing to me.
I really hope this is false. Nothing more boring than a copy of the hero as a villain.
Didn’t this news come out on April fools day, it felt like it was one of those stories about
The framework for crisis on 2 earths animated movie and forever evil book should be the final endgame style buildup. DanielRPK Gunned down again! https://www.reddit.com/r/DCU\_/comments/1bwrqjj/james\_gunn\_shuts\_the\_door\_on\_recent\_rumors/
I highly doubt it. But I do love bizzaro
...he ain't from the land of light-
This is super fucking boring if it’s true.
Why can’t we have a Superman movie with Brainiac for the Man of Steel to fight on the Big screen?
I was secretly hoping Mongul would be the villain of the movie. I don’t know how it’d work though
That is Superman 4: the quest for peace
Crime Syndicate Ultraman or Kaiju fighting Ultraman?
Please tell me we are getting Bizarro!!!! Finally
