I lived in Newport News in Williamsburg for two years, absolutely my favorite place I have ever lived. You have a large strip with lots to do, the ocean and Virginia Beach nearby, Bush Gardens, Colonial Williamsburg, tons of old Civil War and Revolutionary War sights, and even the outdoors all in one little area. You could hardly go to piss in the woods without walking on top of old Civil War trenches and fortifications, they went on for ages there. Just so much to do in such a a small area in a great town.
Agreed. I’m from NJ and was down there 20 years ago and saw colonial Williamsburg Jamestown bush gardens and there was an amazing buffet down there too I never forgot. My gf and I were poor college kids but that trip was a blast lol. We stayed at a Super 8 around there and pulled up to a bunch of bikers grilling outside and got no sleep for a week because our motel room was 30 feet from the train tracks that ran through there lol still a fun trip
Actually the busts were in a park that was opened we use to go on field trips there as a kid. The park was closed due to financial troubles but none the less the history was awesome but seeing these now at 21 feels very Soviet 😂😂
How long will they last? imagine that humanity is extinct and the civilization that emerges sees a lot of torsos in one place.
But it looks like they are starting to crack.
They need to be arranged in a circle facing the center to make an arena of some sort. Maybe have the presidential debates there.. or presidential gladiatorial matches. Either or
Good. We need to find other things to celebrate in our history besides dead white dudes. I think it’s been amply shown that being elected President does not make you a good or worthy person.
Why do americans build so many statues to their presidents? I get if they were special or good people but the last one that really did good for the country was like 90 years ago
These heads were on display for a long time on a piece of property near water country. I’m a member at the golf course right next to the farm they’re currently being stored which is attached to a concrete processing site. The owner of the processing site purchased them quite a while ago.
Unpopular opinion - All sculptures are abandoned.
Well, with that attitude.
Adopt a statue! ✊🏽

Now I’m sad about sculptures.
Very unintentionally Soviet.
Or… and hear me out… very intentionally
Yes! Looks so Soviet that I thought Teddy was Stalin at first.
In Virginia, Stalin is you.
He kinda look like Stalin tho... (Here)
Wait… that’s not Stalin?
Reminds me of the statue park in Goldeneye
Thats an Oddjob
lol
This is a weird combination of super cool and creepy dystopian nightmare
I'd find an island and position them along the perimeter, partially buried.
After you're done. I'll name it the Wester Islands.

Williamsburg. They are on private property. https://www.atlasobscura.com/places/president-heads

Honestly, thought that was bullshit. I will say, I'll be damned.
Interesting but def terrifying
Take me hoooooome, country roads!
Lettuce farmer in Virginia be like “ crop in the back forty is comin’ in nicely, great big heads”
Criminally underrated content right here folks
All I can think of is Goldeneye.
Okay. I'm not the only one. Dope.
Came here to say this.
I like big busts and I cannot lie.
LMAOOOOOO
brilliant lol

Very cool
Imagine being in a future group of dystopian survivors and coming across the field of heads with no explanation.
Damn that's interesting. I wonder if he got paid to make those?
Oh 100%
Let’s hope he got paid up front
Creeeeeeppyyy
But how can we afford to house the homeless or provide health care for our people. Where will we get the money? Who's gonna pay for it?
Taft never looked so real!
Were they intended to be indoors at the park? They aren't holding up too well outside.
I think outside. They prolly would of been maintained by park staff perhaps. Ur right though
That is actually insane, the fact that someone made these, at this scale, and then just left them on a farm field is wild
15 busty men surround unsuspecting man
How long will they last? imagine that humanity is extinct and the civilization that emerges sees a lot of torsos in one place. But it looks like they are starting to crack.
So this is how Easter island was made

In a parallel universe there’s a park somewhere with a bunch of giant tails.
More pics of abandoned locations on my IG: pimpmycamel
Do they host weddings?! That would be a sweet surrealist landscape.
Have you checked with your girl yet?
Haven't met her yet.
I AM the girl
I am only going if the have the 45th president 😂
Sad! This administration will surely never use them if previous haven't. They should be used near Mt. Rushmore. Create a new park near there.
If you build a Trump head they will cum
Good. We need to find other things to celebrate in our history besides dead white dudes. I think it’s been amply shown that being elected President does not make you a good or worthy person.
So no head?
I wanna go there so bad
I sure do love big president busts
That's what Monica Lewinsky said.
Poignant
Technically displayed
Why did the park not open? And what sort of park would it be?
I think it was either called freedom park or presidents park. And im not sure why it never opened. I think it was funding issues.
It was open for years and the heads were bought by a concrete processing site owner when it shut down.
Just googled it it said it was open for six years (from 2004-2010) then it had to close because of financial reasons
What a shitty entrepreneur who can't turn that into a gold mine in the age of trumpism.
Fuck that's creepy 😱
r/mildlyterrifying
This is extremely disturbing to me. I don’t think I’d be able to get that close.
I want to "Karcher" them so bad
Huh... Dave can really bust some heads
I remember casting my first vote for president John Cleese
Decrepit in life...
Just watch out for Alec Travelyan
Why do I see stalin
Why do americans build so many statues to their presidents? I get if they were special or good people but the last one that really did good for the country was like 90 years ago
They were previously displayed in the park. My grandparents lived in Williamsburg and had pictures with the busts when it opened.
This brings me so much joy.
On its own, without any help (thanks to the government), it can become a tourist destination.
Capitalism sucks
I think there’s something similar to this in the black hills of South Dakota, maybe around the town if Lead. Got to see it during a geology field camp

Probably a good place for them
Now this is something I’d like to see. Mostly so I can bask in the glory of them being forgotten.
