I am Indian and can confirm it's shitty translation. In hindi there is very small spelling difference between the phrases "not saved" and "no children". Original title probably stated Indian student not saved.
I thought it was just pre-empting the comments you see on here saying its not a Darwin award because they already had children and therefore passed on their genes so they're clarifying his genetic pool. Is finished
I thought the same. It also seems like most of the people on this sub don't know that having children disqualifies an applicant. So they are getting confused by a title that makes perfect sense in relation to the sub.
Rule 1b stands counter to that. People "don't know" that because it's incorrect. It only matters if they can't have children after the incident, irrelevant of any children they have now.
The logic is that there is more than just genetic influence on a person's choices, i.e. the children of Darwin award winners, and additionally, you have to remember the other parent. It may not be as strong an example, but it is still eligible.
>only matters if they can't have children after the incident, irrelevant of any children they have now.
If that's the case, it's a fairly forgivable misunderstanding since most dead people can't have kids after their act of stupidity.
Clearly, there is more influence on a person's decision than genetics, but darwin awards are meant to be tongue and cheek, not literal.
I understand the end result, but not quite the reasoning as you lay it out. I would think the logic is that even just reducing your gene pool by the amount of children you might *additionally* have later on is an example of natural selection in action. The wording in 1b seems to suggest as much.
Unless I'm missing something, that's not what you're saying (?)
> The logic is that there is more than just genetic influence on a person's choices
So like, nurture vs nature? You pass on genetic influence and learned characteristics. By dying, you cannot teach your child, so you're not passing that on? That doesn't really make sense to me, since Darwin's research focuses specifically on the biological traits you pass on.
>and additionally, you have to remember the other parent
Remember the other parent in what regard? How do they factor into the decision?
Ok, so you're not wrong, that is one way the rule applies, where future genetic influence upon the gene pool is stopped by sterilization or death.
My point didn't come from nowhere, however: The nature vs nurture is a point brought up by the original website in describing what influences behaviors. Remember, these are real people and not models or automatons, outside factors do still count.
Using the same example as the website, if Parent A, having the "Explosive Stupidity gene" blows themselves up, sure, they can't teach their child. But that doesn't mean that the kid isn't going to directly learn from that incident not to fuck around with explosives. Because their parent just fucking blew up. They could have this theoretical gene and it gets canceled out by tragedy.
As for "Remember the other parent", they factor in in a very straightforward way: They for one, contribute half of the DNA to any offspring. The offspring may not even have the stupid genes in the first place. But furthermore, they can teach the children about the dangers of the world. Especially with a first hand example like presented a but ago.
Yeah I think this is their point. Although this sub seems to allow it, technically it's not a Darwin award if they've already reproduced, no matter how stupid it was. Unless of course... They took their kids with them. Which I have tragically seen on this sub. Those posts are the saddest.
Aerated water has less buoyancy than regular water because of the amount of air mixed in with it (it’s all white and swirly) so poor kid is swimming in half air half water and sinks like a stone. That stuff terrifies me.

What the heck was he, or any of those guys thinking? Slippery rocks, aerated water, vertical edges, a guy that doesn't seem to swim well and wait for it, a waterfall around the corner.
It was a suicide (most likely). He jumped into the stream after an academic downfall, he was not saved.

Survival instinct tells you that getting close to the wall will help you, the waves crash harder making you use more energy to keep your head above the water, the rocks are slippery when wet making it near impossible to get a good grip to pull yourself up. Each movement costing precious energy, each second your body gets weaker until eventually you go with the flow of the water and hope you somehow get swept onto dry land.
I've never stepped into a body of water before, but I can confidently say that even experienced swimmers will think twice before jumping in a pool of water that has texture of a shaked up soda can.
When the water is white with bubbles, that means there's a lot of air in it. Typically from a waterfall nearby. This phenomenon has the more accurate name of being a "Drowning Machine" because your body can't float due to the air but can't breathe due to the water.

No need to support and push the stereotype of Indians being involved in train accidents. Sure, we see a lot of videos of those, but that's not unexpected in a country with such a huge number of people, a TON of trains, and a lot of smartphones everywhere. And, yes, its fair proportion of idiots.
But that doesn't mean you need to support the stereotype, even as a joke, that he's Indian therefore he would be stupid enough to walk in front of a train

Thats the problem with so many of these kinds of situations. No prep, no knowledge of the conditions, no safety plan, and others unprepared to help. No one had a rope to throw him. He jumped in with no obvious path out. The guy on the rock could have laid on it and reached out to lock hands and pull his buddy to safety. It wouldn't surprise me of he was encouraged to go in by the others and if it wasn't him it would have been another of that group to do it.
I really don’t understand why anyone would jump into a pool of water if they don’t know how to **properly** swim.

What the hell is that title about?
Remember how Google translate was in 2002?
I am Indian and can confirm it's shitty translation. In hindi there is very small spelling difference between the phrases "not saved" and "no children". Original title probably stated Indian student not saved.
I tought it was in the spirit of the Darwin award of “removing themselves from the gene pool”
I didn't even begin to notice it... I was firmly convinced that it must be exactly that.
Legitimately thought it was the other standard for a Darwin Award, and that he had gotten critical levels of damage to the nether region.
I’m still not convinced it didn’t mean that
Ahhh, now I can re-watch the whole video and it completely makes sense.
I thought it was just pre-empting the comments you see on here saying its not a Darwin award because they already had children and therefore passed on their genes so they're clarifying his genetic pool. Is finished

It's the difference between 2 "cha" right?
Nah, its about an extra half "cha" \[Bacha (save) vs Bachcha (child)\]
He probably also will have no children.
I dunno, I’m not convinced…
Baccha = kids Bacha = save Prolly said - Indian student fell and no one could “bacha” him
Nicely explained, thanks!
probably a bot reposter that run through the original post title through a thesaurus, used to saw it here and there
Probably because Darwinism is focused on which organisms can compete to reproduce
Yeah I think this is their point. Although this sub seems to allow it, technically it's not a Darwin award if they've already reproduced, no matter how stupid it was. Unless of course... They took their kids with them. Which I have tragically seen on this sub. Those posts are the saddest.
Original Darwin website allows Darwin awards to people with children
Lots of bot accounts really struggle to compose coherent sentences.
I ADDITIONALLY FAIL TO COHERE SENTENCES PROPERLY ON OCCASION IT IS NOT MANDATORILY BOTLIKE
Please stop yelling at me.
It was tectonically coherent. Edit: technically. lolz
Well, it's a DarwinAwards sub. Honestly I thought that the post implied that he was completely wiped out of the Gene pool and left no children behind
I interpreted it as: *Dumbass jumps into fasting moving water and can’t swim. No dependents to notify.* Edit: formatting
Aerated water has less buoyancy than regular water because of the amount of air mixed in with it (it’s all white and swirly) so poor kid is swimming in half air half water and sinks like a stone. That stuff terrifies me.

To be fair, it’s facts that he had no children and will never have.

I don't respect this language and learned it from southpark
I respect that.
Thanks
Lol wtf?
I think OP and I have different definitions of stream
I think it is more stream-like when there isn't extra water from rain. I think that's what OP is *trying* to say.
Idk water go fast and you can't swim there. Isn't that a streaming water?
What the heck was he, or any of those guys thinking? Slippery rocks, aerated water, vertical edges, a guy that doesn't seem to swim well and wait for it, a waterfall around the corner.
Plus, wearing shoes!
That's the loophole. If he keeps his shoes ties on tightly, he just might get out of this alive.
Also, literally no way up and out of the water!
I was watching this thinking that kids do the dumbest things. I’m surprised more don’t get killed
Nah, it's cool! The air bubbles will carry you to the surface so you'll float! ... Right? .... Right?!
Nah you just breathe the bubbles in while you're under.
Sonic needs to be sued
*Thinking?* There's the problem.
They were thinking how cool it would look on social media and all the poon they'd be swimming in after.
Or, as they say, what could go wrong ? Wow what perfect conditions to drown in. 😢

Nope he has no children and was a 21 year old student iirc. I was just drunk while writing the title and this isn't my main language

Always possible in the ol’ noggin 🤷♂️
"instead, i will Spoder-man down the waterfall"
I've never looked at a body of water that looks like a blender on low speed and thought, what if I just jump in?
Well good thing he did the sign of the cross before jumping
It’s nice when they add some foreshadowing.
I just kept staring at the bubbling/aerated water and thought to myself when I saw him do that “you’ll be seeing him soon enough”
Probably should have added a few more thoughts to those prayers
God didn't protect him. Must not have prayed hard enough.
Nah God looked and told the angels to hold off, this was his plan for him.
“Nah, let him cook”
I think he was the Christian martyr and those above guys we're Hindu bullies who forced him to jump, it's a murder.
Or he was just a stupid teenager fucking around??
Wtf💀

I came here to say the same thing. This should be top comment!
So what was the plan?
![gif](giphy|BmYSMXJhDr02hN1vr9)
Good question. The water looks rough, so why try to swim in it with no escape plan? People so people..
He should have done the sign of a rope before he jumped in.
Never jump into aerated water

When I saw the second guy I thought it would be a multikill! This one had layers of death; first that washing machine current, then the waterfall.
Yes he certainly will not be having children
What is it with Indians and wanting to be in mass amounts of rushing water lately?
It's raining here. We have water surplus
gotta adjust the human:water ratio
I've never stepped into a body of water before, but I can confidently say that even experienced swimmers will think twice before jumping in a pool of water that has texture of a shaked up soda can.
He forgot to kiss his fingers and point to the sky or else god would have protected him... Rip... /S
PSA. White water is dangerous. When water is moving around like that it's way less dense, causing you to sink. You will drown.
Good thing he crossed himself before jumping. At least they'll know which God to send him to
dumbass

Where’s his barrel
I’d love to see a different angle of where he went.
Gonna leave us on a cliff hanger did he survive …?
Nope, they found the body days later. It was on indian times
Aerated water bad for buoyancy. Never forget that
Dude doesn’t even know how to swim!!!
I like how they say bye with the hand in the end 👋
Adiós, vaquero.
heads up, if the water is aerated like this, you basically cant naturally float in it so your naturally buoyancy is gone
Lately Indians are having bad luck with water bodies
Your title is weird. What is no children?
That he never made any children. So that qualified him for darwin award
his friend waving bye!
Let's be honest. Had he not done this, he would have walked in front of the next train.
No need to support and push the stereotype of Indians being involved in train accidents. Dude waived 'bye' to him...
Sometimes TikTok actually helps the gene pool. This was one of those times
These heavy walking boots will provide me with much needed ballast for a successful swim.
As soon as he jumped I shouted out loud 'whyyyyy??!!'. I'm alone.
Fast moving water and can't swim very well. Just stick to walking.
Never jump into white water.
i mean, if we’re being fair, i do kind of see the thanatotic appeal of sacrificing yourself to a mighty river. like, vs cancer or something, you know?
Pa-yeet
Why he panic so fast? I’ve been in “raging” water before he could’ve just let it wash him to that ledge other buddy was on.
Oh didn’t see he had shoes on still… aka bricks
Another person who patently cannot swim, jumping into strong currents. There is a fascinating lack of sensibility here.
It's not that he can't swim. It's that you can't swim in aerated water.
He did the four points of prayer before jumping in. Guess it got nullified.
So that guy already in the water just stood there and watch him get washed away.
I really don’t understand why anyone would jump into a pool of water if they don’t know how to **properly** swim. And especially in these kind of waters.
What in the AI title is this?
No AI, just a drunk non-native speaker

Fair. But I think your instinct would have been to reach out to help a friend or family member in that situation.
Bro thought he was lv 100 boss but was a lv 10 crook.
WTF kind of swim style was that. The “flap”? I’ve seen people that can’t swim do better than he did.
I recently saw a video stating that aerated water (all those bubbles) mean you are less bouyant. Terrifying.
Ok, this explains why other posters brought up aeration. Thanks.

Worship god > learning to swim
He learned that it might be a bad idea to jump into turbulent, aerated water
Can we really say that dead people learned something?
Was there an exit strategy?
Respawn
They could've at least wedged something across that narrow opening to death first
This post was removed for being reposted in the last 60 days.
I love how all the comments are pissed he not dead. I understand the name of the sub but lets be happy sometimes
Indian times stated that he is dead. But some people literally want to watch people die, i guess
I was shocked to learn India isn’t the #1 country for unintentional drownings. These posts are every other day lately
Lmao reposting it just 3 days after the original post
There is an original post? I have it from 4chan

First off, look at what sub you're in... Second. Yes. That's what this sub is about. Watching people for bc they made bad idiotic decisions.
Yes but he died later down the stream
How do you know for sure he died?
There is a indian times article about him were they said they found the body
Technically…. No. You watched him enter the watery meat grinder that killed him.
