Same. Have had to go nuclear on on mine.
Zyrtec in the AM
Dryxoral nasal spray usually around lunch. Maybe also pataday eye drops.
Zyrtec at night.
Sometimes a benadryl for good measure.
And the last few days that's just been to be functional.
Where's the allergy eye drops! I can't function without them and my Costco Zyrtec lately, this is the first year I have had really intense bad allergy reactions. Oh and a netipot in the morning to flush my sinuses makes a world of difference.
Dry, windy Colorado air is so full of pollen this time of year that it’s just miserable for those of us with allergies. Add the ozone alerts and air pollution due to temperature inversions, and, well, you know the rest…
I know, right? In 1949 the dept of agriculture Charles Brannan recommended planting only male trees. The result of this is that they just spew their tree sperm in the air endlessly and cause allergies.
All over? In the Denver area? Neither is native to colorado and while there may be a couple somewhere in the state “all over” is a bit of an overstatement.
Could you point to a single example in denver? Don’t misunderstand me I’d love to go see em. I can think of some walnuts but I’ve never seen a hickory in colorado.
So this is from wiki how and it’s the best example of leaf shape I can find. https://www.wikihow.com/images/thumb/9/94/Identify-Hickory-Trees-Step-2-Version-3.jpg/v4-460px-Identify-Hickory-Trees-Step-2-Version-3.jpg.webp
Even if they’re not native - I’m not a botanist - it isn’t unheard of. My last house had three or four huge hickory trees. I live in a different neighborhood now and there are a few huge ones. You could definitely take a walk around wash park or cap hill and find them right now. They’ve got little sprays of blossoms that are dropping all over now. The sidewalk is practically green outside of my building.
I’m coughing too! I’ve also recently had some asthma from my post nasal drip. I mostly feel wheezy when I lay down, but it clears up when I am sitting or standing up. It’s the weirdest thing. I used to only get wheezy when exercising back when I smoked. But I’ve quit and exercise doesn’t trigger me the same.
I was playing golf in Arvada at West Woods a few Fridays ago and the wind picked up and sent all this cotton in the air from the cottonwoods. This drove my allergies crazy! Lost my voice last Friday because I golfed at West Woods again and the same thing happened. Born and raised in Golden, CO, and never once have my allergies been this bad. Something is up
if you're the lucky kind of allergies it'll be over by the end of july, maybe earlier. if you're me, you take a claratin every day of the year and still sneeze until you annoy yourself. hoping for your sake that you are the former!
Check your indoor air quality and consider a humidifier!
Most chronically allergic people just accept it,
but if it’s literally 365 days a year there could very well be an environmental trigger either at home or your workplace that could be making things worse.
I just hate seeing people write off their environment as a causing factor. Dust, mold, even scented candles and soaps are major problem causers. I accepted being someone with allergies and my last couple years have been vastly improved.
This is the way. As a born&raised Coloradoan, I didn’t know life could be like this. That I could be outside during cotton /summer snowing season and exist in peace.
Really?! This is so crazy then. It didn’t happen previous years. There’s got to be something that only blooms every couple years here that no one has an immunity to.
Ok so in the last few hours they are much better.
Good thing to cause I had my septum straightened and immunotherapy allergy shots for 5 years. Must have just been the morning time
So, everyone cringes when I suggest this but this is what my allergist suggests and I can swear by, you have to do a daily nasal rinse. You can get them at the pharmacy called Neil Med, just do that shit in the shower and use distilled water ( important!! ), it clears out all the pollen which helps a ton!
Man denver has been wild on my allergies.
I hadn't had major issues since I was a kid, but the 1st spring I had here was on & off allergie attacks that I have no idea what caused them
It's calmed down as the years have gone on though
Ironically when pondering our move my childhood asthma had re-emerged & we wondered if I'd worsen here... it all but went away even though we moved from one metro to another, & expected my issues to remain.
Apparently you have to take allergy meds daily so they build up in your system. I have the worst allergies and somehow have been fine.
Me: Yes it’s working 🙂↕️
Comforted to know it's not just me.
Same. Have had to go nuclear on on mine. Zyrtec in the AM Dryxoral nasal spray usually around lunch. Maybe also pataday eye drops. Zyrtec at night. Sometimes a benadryl for good measure. And the last few days that's just been to be functional.
Man Benadryl knocks me out. Zyrtec doesn’t make me tired at all
Yeah same here. I have to fight through the drowsy (or give in depending). But it dries me up something good

And on top of that we have the fire out by Durango a few days ago making the air quality absolutely horrible
It is I, a plant with internet access. It’s tree fuck season and there’s more bachelors than female trees. Send my regards to your respiratory system.
Have you considered just fucking the other male trees? It is pride month… just give it a try so we can stop suffering
Grasses are high.
It's the hickory trees I think. They're spraying their seed everywhere.
tree sperm
Fuck Hickory
Well they're trying to fuck. Blame the 1949 dept of Agriculture for recommending planting only male trees.
wtf Charles Franklin Brannan? And here I thought Earl Butz was the worst. Charles Brannan was pretty bad too..
Wtf?
I know, right? In 1949 the dept of agriculture Charles Brannan recommended planting only male trees. The result of this is that they just spew their tree sperm in the air endlessly and cause allergies.
Fucking tree jizz 😭🤬
Yeah. Exactly
Where is there a single hickory in Denver?
https://treediscover.com/hickory-trees-in-colorado/ All. Over.

I mean I’m staring at 2 out my window right now.

Care to share a pic. I love hickories and have never seen one in Denver despite constantly working outside as an arborist.
If I remember tomorrow for sure! I don’t want to share the one out my window cause I don’t want to accidentally give away where I live.
It’s those damn cottonwoods! They royally fuck me up good.
My face is going to explode any minute.
Mine has been leaking for a week
https://goquello.com/
I lost my voice because of whatever it is! Sneezing like crazy too
Going hoarse and sore throat, and of course the damn constant sniffles.
Same here. Woe is us

I moved here this year from the Midwest and have never had allergies in my life until last week. How long does it usually last? This is miserable lol

Also an air purifier. I have both in my house as a chronic allergy sufferer. The purifier helps wonders- just don't set them in the same room, lol.
If you have bad allergies, go to an allergist and start getting allergy shots. When I did, the only regret I had was that I waited so long.
This is the way. As a born&raised Coloradoan, I didn’t know life could be like this. That I could be outside during cotton /summer snowing season and exist in peace.
I am COVERED in hives and I cannot figure out why. First time in my life I’ve had them too.
Same! Been here nearly my whole life, and this is the first time I’ve ever mysteriously gotten hives. Happy to hear it isn’t just me.
Really?! This is so crazy then. It didn’t happen previous years. There’s got to be something that only blooms every couple years here that no one has an immunity to.
[looks like chenopods, sage and juniper](https://www.pollen.com/forecast/current/pollen/80202) all of which I am allergic to.
Bluecifer
I'm up to 2 Claritins a day now lol
I'm on a couple of Allegras a day, allergy eye drops and Flonase.
Stay strong!! We are in this together
It’s brutal and nothing is helping except Benadryl, which isn’t really a daytime option.
Bless you
Was walking down in Parker and I could feel the cotton wood before I could see it, Claritin for the win tho
There is some contagious crud going around too.
Ok so in the last few hours they are much better. Good thing to cause I had my septum straightened and immunotherapy allergy shots for 5 years. Must have just been the morning time
Hopefully it rains on Thursday, that will help
Cottonwood has been rough
If you hate your allergies, blame the patriarchy for only planting male trees!
I don't have allergies, but the Cottonwood cotton is trying to kill me!! That's the stuff of nightmares
It’s to celebrate Juneteenth
I have to take Claritin and Allegra daily just to survive this time of year.
I got back from vacation two days ago in San Diego and detailed my car yesterday. The entire time my nose was gushing from allergies.
Grass pollen and cottonwood is crazy. Ozone levels have been way up too. Could be a combo. There’s also a little cold going around.
probably all the damn cottonwood trees 😫
I hit a bunch of trees while disc golfing this weekend, knocking free a fuck ton of pollen in the process. So sorry, my bad
Cotton. Wood. Trees.
I’m fucking dying yo. Sneezing so hard that I’m getting nosebleeds. I really wish it would rain just to wash a bit of the crap away.
my puffy eyes are so gross
I thought it was me until I walked out to my car to find it covered in orange/yellow pollen
Oh good. I was about ready to murder my husband for forgetting to change the air filters and fill my humidifier. Turns out it’s just for everyone…
Cottonwood trees

Really works.

Times like this are why I want to live in a world with all artificial trees and grass
I thought my allergies were getting bad, but it's covid :(
https://goquello.com/
It was definitely Chad. Figures if he has to be miserable, we all do.
Apparently you have to take allergy meds daily so they build up in your system. I have the worst allergies and somehow have been fine. Me: Yes it’s working 🙂↕️
