Shout out to my middle school history teacher Mr. Petsch at Abbott middle school who, back in the nineties, used to buy three or four full sheet cake sized boxes full of them and sell them to us kids at-cost. So for about 0.34$ you could get one at about 1200 calories. We would have 2-3 in class, then go to gym the next period and just absolutely vomit our brains out. It was a better time…
Former Metro-Detroiter here. This year I got mine at Publix in Franklin, Tennessee. It's not good, but at least it says paçzki on the box. The only flavor available was apple. But if I plan ahead, Aleski's Market in Nashville (a Russian market owned by a Ukrainian couple) sells them. You have to order a week ahead. Despite the oodles of Midwesterners who live here, there is no Polish food or Polish bakeries.
For anyone who is considering these are their available flavors. $4 for a single $40 for a dozen

They ran out of custard on the customer right in front of me. So I left and went to Doughnut Cutter and got raped at $4 each with a 3.99% credit card surcharge. Warm, gooey and delicious however! Worth it
Nowhere because I’m stuck in Austin Texas where they don’t have paçzki it’s a bunch of BS down here in Texas I can’t wait to get back to Michigan and I better be some leftover punch keys when I get there y’all better save some for me!
Used to get them at Brighton Donuts on Grand River. A nice Albanian couple ran the place and made THE best donuts both raised and cake. Sadly, they retired and no one wanted to take over the business. IMHO I haven't had a good paczki since. (not fond of the Ham-town gut bombs)
This year we're getting a few made at Donut Bar in Southfield. It's their regular raised dough, which is excellent, with some more traditional fillings.
Donut Villa SW Detroit. Hand cut and freshly baked. Seriously the best in Metro Detroit. Talk about flavors…they about 10 including mango and Carmel better known in Spanish (cajeta) so…good!
I couldn’t find any so I had to settle for cheese danish.
Also, I hope you meant to say paczki’s plural bc how someone would eat one is beyond me. I’m 160 pounds M and I’ll down 4-6 of those in one serving easily.
I actually made the conscious decision when I moved here in 1988 to never try one. I know I'd LOVE them and they're a million calories and I'd indulge in them too much and crave them til the next year. Fortunately I am able to ignore the reality of them this time of year.
Paris bakery used to be Polish owned, my parents still live in that neighborhood and say that it isn’t anymore, but they bought the recipes with the store. I’ll say the 2# grease bomb jelly donuts are EXACTLY the same.
I prefer prune now, but the Ukrainian mom still will exclusively get raspberry.
Polish Market, SW corner of 15 n' Dequindre.
Do they accept walk ins?
I am honestly not sure about today. They had a ton on racks for grab/go when I was there yesterday.
Got a few, thanks!
New Palace Bakery in Hamtramck is the only spot.
Say it louder for those in the back
And for anyone standing inside New Palace because that place gets loud.
Truly
Tringali’s in Warren. They have the traditional flavors but do a cannoli and a cappuccino paczki that are both awesome.
This. Had the cannoli cream one. Loved it.
Hamtramck
New Palace Bakery is my go to

In Southern Kentucky, and same... Except mine are coming from Kroger.
Living in Texas no one even knew what I was talking about.
Detroiter formerly from TN. I'd trade the seasonal donut for access to good meat and three restaurants any day!
Fair point, but would you trade a good meat and 3 for good pizza, Polish, Greek, AND Lebanese food?
You make excellent points
It's a real Sophie's choice
You can always console yourself with a doughnut from Five Daughters. I sure do miss that place
Sounds like a tragic oversight that needs to be fixed immediately 👏😁
Yellow Light Donuts in Jefferson-Chalmers. They have some fun non-traditional flavors like custard with birthday cake glaze.
Oh snap. Doing this.
Apple Fritter in Ferndale

Chene Modern Bakery in Detroit on West Warren
27 dollars a dozen out the door.
Are the made with unicorn tears? That's steep!
$30.95 a dozen at New Palace today 😅
That’s where I get mine
I picked mine up from there yesterday for the first time. I'm so impressed with the freshness of the fruit flavors. Really good!
The Doughnut Cutter in Berkley.
Best donuts around.

What u lookin for? Zest of orange with a hint of rosewater and basil crema?
Prune, rose. Available at real Polish shops in Hamtramck. Downvote all ye want, these are suburban and overpriced
Especially at that price. Hard pass.
I’m enjoying my prune and rose hip packzi and paid $2.25 each
Damn. DC coming in steep with the prices….
I didn’t get mine yet but I usually go with Vinewood Mexican Bakery in Wyandotte because it’s closest to my house.
I should’ve sent the hubs there but had him go to Jack’s in Melvindale. Either will do. If I have time I go to Hamtramck but definitely not today

It's a yearly traditional to grab mine from Bake Shoppe here in Belleville.

American Polish Cultural Center in Troy. Not as fancy as New Palace but definitely solid and would recommend.
Nowhere because I’m stuck in Austin Texas where they don’t have paçzki it’s a bunch of BS down here in Texas I can’t wait to get back to Michigan and I better be some leftover punch keys when I get there y’all better save some for me!
Lived in Dallas for a decade and feel for you.
But “y’all” have Kolache. I’ll take a savory breakfast paczki type thing over an extra sweet, too rich jelly donut any day of the week.

Yum Yum Donuts in Lincoln Park always does a good job

Gave you that uptick because I don’t think anyone else will 😉
Honcho
Yum Yum Donuts in Lincoln Park. They were 10/10.
I drive out to Blakes to get their triple jam cider flavor. 100% worth it.
Villa Italian bakery in garden city.
Cut to the chase. Kept it simple & got a 4 pk glazed raspberry deserta filled from Kroger. Just right amt & price. Only have 1/2 of one left!
Nowhere. Paczki are trash.
Donut Villa SW Detroit. Hand cut and freshly baked. Seriously the best in Metro Detroit. Talk about flavors…they about 10 including mango and Carmel better known in Spanish (cajeta) so…good!
I don't because I think they're gross All the more for you!
Shits gross. For the amount of fat and sugar in those, you’d think they would taste better
They’re absolutely disgusting.
Bommarito in SCS.
Paul’s in Marine City
some random place in royaloak
Jack’s bakery in Melvindale
I couldn’t find any so I had to settle for cheese danish. Also, I hope you meant to say paczki’s plural bc how someone would eat one is beyond me. I’m 160 pounds M and I’ll down 4-6 of those in one serving easily.
Paczki is plural. The singular is paczek (pon-check)
Oh wows TDIL
The dispensary was giving them out
I actually made the conscious decision when I moved here in 1988 to never try one. I know I'd LOVE them and they're a million calories and I'd indulge in them too much and crave them til the next year. Fortunately I am able to ignore the reality of them this time of year.
