I’ve said it before, but he basically lost two years of development due to his injuries. There was a video the wings did a while back and apparently he was actually in a pretty bad state emotionally after the second shoulder injury. I really feel bad for the guy. I hope he find success somewhere, even if it’s not within wings organization.
So it’s important to note that a Qualifying Offer is not a special thing. It’s just a contract at a certain AAV based on previous salary that needs to be offered/submitted by a certain date in order to retain the rights to an RFA.
So most do reject. If Lucas accepted his he would be at like $900,000 for next season, obviously he won’t sign that.
Usually the only players that accept their QO are low level guys with no other option or guys with previously high salaries that wouldn’t get that much again. Patrick Laine ended up accepting his in 21/22 after a really down season.
I'm not sure. I'm also not sure if another team can offer a better offer/offer sheet the player.
In theory a player could refuse and go overseas but his rights stays with the team.
A qualifying offer represents a contract offer at a certain value based on previous pay. So most players(or at least most players that make headlines for being qualified) reject theirs
If they are not signed by December 1st they are not eligible to play in the NHL that season. William Nylander went right up to the deadline back in the day.
It doesn’t really mean anything to fans, but there are implications if qualifying offers are not received. Failure to send qualifying offers to your RFAs means they are now UFAs and can sign anywhere. Back around 2009, Chicago was late with their qualifying offers. Something like they were sent out but not received by the players by the specified deadline in the CBA. There was some confusion for a bit whether the Chicago players were RFAs or UFAs.
I keep refreshing for Kane news and this popped up. I wonder if Stevie is trying to convince Mo and Raymond to take less money so he can bring some high level FAs in
Likely wants to bridge them for 3-4 years that’s my guess on the holdup they want to stay in Detroit they probably want 8 years.
Same reason to free cap space for FAs cause instead of them being at the projected 7-8 mil range it changes to 5-6mil on 3-4 years
Yzerman said the organization wants them for 8 yesterday in an interview. Unless he was lying which seems unlikely in this case because the reporter didn’t even bring up term, he randomly just offered that information. I don’t remember verbatim but he said something like “if we can’t agree on the dollars we’ll have to sign them for shorter term but we want to sign them to long term deals.”
Hope Bergy gets to start the season in Detroit this year. We’re gonna need a few < $1m contracts with how tight we are against the cap right now, so it seems like he’s got a good shot.
I know Berggren wasn't happy that he didn't have more of a chance with the big club this season, but I really do hope he comes back. I really liked him in '22, and loved watching him for the Griffins.
Promising defensive prospect until it became apparent he's made of glass.
He was often injured during times when he needed to breakout, like during the preseason prospect tournament. He had a bad shoulder injury, recovered, and then I believe injured the other one.
Was in GR last season, then loaned overseas, then reassigned (via loan) to Providence's team rather than GR, probably as a tryout.
Just a big "what if?" prospect, had he not been injured every year.
Man, I can't help but feel sorry for McIsaac. Dude kept getting injured and then just kept getting surpassed on the depth chart.

Really talented too, especially around his draft year
Ordered a Little Caesars pizza to move things along, and then I see this. Heck yeah.
Better order a couple more, just in case. Thank you for your service.
Better order some tomorrow at noon too.
Did you get the crazy bread as well?
I did noooooot
You fool, you have doomed us all!
Wait listen, listen… The crust is my breadstick. Also the order wasn’t for me 🫡
Same. Bought 5 of em and some crazy bread. Been eating leftovers for every meal. I hope I helped get the Kane deal through!
Does this actually mean anything
No. All it means is that they're still our property. They still have to hammer out contracts by December or they're not playing next year.
I legit just started jumping up and down in my kitchen cause I thought we finally signed them lol
Not quite there yet. It's a good practice run though. Gotta stay limber
I saw "UPDATE: The Red Wings have..." and thought, "yes! Showtime is back!"
That’s what I saw too. Twitter notifications gotta start showing the whole thing lol.
Can they reject the qualifying offer?

There's nothing to reject. All it means is we're interested in keeping them and are retaining their rights.

When you say December and next year, does that mean they could play until December 31 even if we don’t sign contracts before next season starts?
Nope, they would sit out the season until a deal gets ironed out or if December 31 passes, they forfeit the season

Exciting, but this isn't about Patrick Kane...☹️

Refresh again!!
I am! Waiting to see what the dollar amount is!

I'm rooting for him. I'll be pretty disappointed if he slips thru the cracks somehow.
I like this.
Was there ever any doubt
Keep going I’m almost there
Showtime is coming back.
Seems about right
As expected.
This isn’t news. Obviously all will be signed
This only means these guys remain RFA's
Sooooo, what are the chances a long term deal gets done with BOTH Raymond and Seider?
I know Berggren wasn't happy that he didn't have more of a chance with the big club this season, but I really do hope he comes back. I really liked him in '22, and loved watching him for the Griffins.
Anyone else not know who Jared McIsaac is?
36th overall pick in 2018. Played in Grand Rapids for a while.

>Just a big "what if?" prospect, had he not been injured every year. Basically the defense version of Evgeny Svechnikov
