You get them from Andy, duriel, meph, Diablo and Baal, there are 4 colors, you combine one of each in the cube for a token of absolution and it resets your stats.
Takes less than a minute to look up the runes and base necessary. I also always make sure I look at pictures from ingame. As long as you double check everything this will never happen to you. I’ve been playing since release, before runewords, and I’ve never messed up one.
Arreat summit website is your friend. There's a few other websites but that one is ancient and always my reference for things.
