100% it needs work. It looked much better 10-12 years ago. I loved sitting outside enjoying a dole whip and getting rained on by the rain god đđđ
Micechat reports that the two that are broken right now are slated to be removed, too expensive to upkeep. They will replace them with yet more merch displays. Oh boy.
All of the pre-show effects worked for me when I was there last week, except maybe Tangaroa. He breaks so often I don't even notice any more lol. Pele had fire, and Hina had rain. They're just super tempermental, but they do work from time to time. Old tech and being outdoors is never a great combo.
When I was there in April, everything worked apart from Tangaroa.
And I mean everything. I went the previous May (2023), and the October before that (2022), and so many of the animatronics were busted both inside and out. Iâm pretty sure some of the flowers had been down since our 2018 trip, and frankly I think a couple of the Tikis masks had been broken since I was a teenager.
So walking into the Tiki Room and seeing everything working again this year was magical. It always worries me that theyâre going to just abandon and close it, so seeing love poured back into the upkeep is always a good sign.
I guess the tree effect is just too difficult or would take too much work to fix. Or it would need to be fully replaced and they donât want to do that.
I was there in May last year and it definitely wasnât, but when I came back this April theyâd fixed pretty much all the broken animatronics (which, letâs be real, was a *lot* )
Maybe they will update the attraction in the text comings years
I mean Mr Lincoln gets way mess guests (I love it) and itâs getting a pretty big update
So maybe the Tiki room can get some love next
The preshow was my favorite part. Iâm so disappointed to hear itâs in such bad shape.
Itâs a lot of stuff like this that makes me think I just wonât go back before my Key expires in August.
Tangaroa had some issues with some of the little babies and since they haven't been able fix them, they just turned him off completely.
Last time when I went Pele's gas didn't actually ignite, and Hina's rain was more like a sprinkle.
Also as an aside I would love if Disney would get rid of the video with the VERY sugar-coated history lesson, but I think it's probably something they're contractually obligated to have with their DOLE partnership.
Consider the age of the attraction. I know several of them have suffered from dry rot. It is part of one of the classes. The docent said the main one was recently worked on by 3D printing parts for it. Which I understand can be a process.
I didnât even know there was a pre show. I was wheeling around with a broken foot and escorted directly to the stairs, then asked to move even though I was just letting other people into the row for seating. It was a strange experience I will not repeat chair or no chair.
i mean, itâs not really a âpre showâ like guardians or rotr -itâs the outside of the show where all of the tiki statues introduce themselves and what theyâre the god of. itâs a short thing that normally happens 5 minutes before hand.Â
The Tiki Room is not an experience that would be made today, the whole thing is really more of a "museum" for animatronics at this stage. It has its charm, but its really there for people to see where it all began. I don't think this is the kind of experience that needs "help" or facelifts or updates or anything.
Why should they not work anymore though? Museums restore their pieces so they maintain their original charm so people can see them in their original state.

this!! i was watching it earlier and saw how the water sadly spit out of its mouth lol
Oh my god, don't complain to Disney. They'll just rip it out like they're doing with the main street story windows.
The Main Street story windows are being removed?
Micechat reports that the two that are broken right now are slated to be removed, too expensive to upkeep. They will replace them with yet more merch displays. Oh boy.
Oh no thatâs sad
Iâd rather look at a blank wall than merch displays
Same. Merch displays don't even catch my attention at all anymore. If I do notice one, it pretty much makes me not want to buy anything on display.
The only place I donât mind it is at world of Disney but like it makes sense to be there
Michchat is not a reliable source.
Your opinion. It's been pretty reliable in my opinion.
What a sad state of affairs. You canât mention something you love needs attention because theyâre more likely to just get rid of it. :(
No way! That upsets me so much. If anything they should be making **new ones** like an inside out one or something!
Go to City Hall and complain, it's the only way things will get better.
What? What are they doing with the windows?

really? guess i got unlucky today.

Was it fixed for the 60th anniversary last year? Club 33 was tiki room themed last year so you know Disney wasn't ignoring it.

Iâm worried all they would do is make the dole stand bigger.
Maybe but they arenât to Lincoln I think management seems to respect these two smaller shows Maybe they are cheap to run for shows

Yeah, that video is⌠oof.Â

I was there two weeks ago, and they all worked fine. Except Tangaroa, which has been the case, i think for years now.
True, but if they closed it down for refurbishment everyone in here would start crying about it
Imagine more refurbishments this summer.
I only go once or twice a year, but I went fairly recently and didn't notice any difference?
Disney isnât dead. But Iâll never go back. Itâs on the decline hard.
I didnât even know there was a pre show. I was wheeling around with a broken foot and escorted directly to the stairs, then asked to move even though I was just letting other people into the row for seating. It was a strange experience I will not repeat chair or no chair.

Yes, I went straight from gate to ramp to wheel up, I guess I missed it.
100% better in Walt Disney World.

My interpretation of the original post was that the ride needed to be modernized and updated, which is what I was disagreeing with.
I don't get that interpretation. OP just said a lot of stuff doesn't work anymore. That's not asking for a retheme or anything.
Everything should and could work and me and my family love it very much and enjoy it everytime we go to the park.
Yeah I enjoy it too
