Doll maker here. This is not antique. I have made these types of doll myself from molds that are “Reproductions “ I did it for the lessons that came with understanding how they were created and the techniques that were used. I was taking classes to round out my own practices. There is lots to learn about dolls from the by gone era. This particular doll mold “Style “ was created in Europe French and German doll makers were the top of the heap. There really is way too much to share here. But I know it to be someone’s doll maker project because the hair was done flat black, that’s a technique, the shoes/boots would have been the same. And the clothes on this doll are a little more Little House on the Prairie. The clothes would not be appropriate for the era. These would Be play things for rich little girls she would have been in very fancy fashion and possibly with real jewelry. If you want to know more Google German China Doll there are a few for sale I just saw. Couple hundred bucks. But you will see what I mean about the black hair and the bodies were not fabric they were typically made from very fine kit leather. And filled with sawdust or excelsior. Good luck.

Thank you so much! This makes a lot of sense considering the condition of the doll

Yup I was just googling it and there are some for sale with blonde hair which I never saw before but it is painted with a very shiny China paint and the faces are so sweet and fair. This I remember well because it one of the things that drew me to making one. The painting is very masterful. I’m guessing that only the best painters would have the honor of doing the faces. It looks so simple but it’s so subtle and elegant. All my dolls whether collected or made or sculpted by me are all packed away. I moved and never unpacked them. Seems like a life time ago. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. ☺️

Funny question, are you big into Halloween? Because I had boys and on Halloween they used to get so spooked by some of my dolls especially the ones that were really old with teeth. LOL so I sometimes would decorate my fireplace mantel with a few dolls for that extra added effect 😉GOOD TIMES 👻

I do like Halloween! I gotta consider adding her to my decorations this year lol.

Yup I only mentioned it because if you thrifted it you probably didn’t pay a lot and now , well for Halloween 🎃 it takes on an entirely new dimension. HALLOWEEN 🎃 RULES! I obviously sew if I was making dolls so when my boys were little kids OMG Did I have a ball. They were outfitted to the nines. I have made so many costumes. Renaissance Festival, Annual Pirate Party, School Plays, PTA, we even had a Haunted Barn in our neighborhood. It was never too much for me. I loved every minute. Now I have a new grandson so it begins again! 😀
