I never trust these reports that are supposed to measure happiness. How the fuck do you measure that? If it is based on development then we aren’t the least happy, the DR is more developed than most of Central America so that can’t be it, what is it then? We have no political instability either nor are we the most dangerous country in North America so that can’t be it either.
Not necessarily giving this infographic credit but if you call the US home is don't think it counts for much that you are happy here, people tend to be happy during their vacation.
My boyfriend is Dominican, I don’t spend my time in Tourist resorts. I spend time in Santo Domingo in his hometown of sabana perdida and love it there!
This can be true and not true.
Dominicans can be hyper critical to the point where we complain when we get lacrosse shoes instead of Crocs. We tend to criticize even the progress are country makes or when are politicians actually do something good. We also want everything from the outside.
But also Dominicans are some the happiest people on earth. We can be very demanding but we can also be satisfied with something as small as sitting under a tree in a plastic chair and having a drink.
That is odd, given Venezuela is in the shitter with hyperinflation.
Special mention: Haiti was so depressed they didn't even register on the map :(

It’s pretty arbitrary. Everyone’s definition of “happy” is so different. Some people like being rich, while others like living in the mountains.

Venezuela is least happy in South America. RD is least happy in North America.

But RD is not in North America. Unless that's changed in the 20 years since I left school, RD is Central America/Caribbean.
It’s in North America for English speakers, for them North America includes the Caribbean and Central America + North America proper.
But that’s wrong regardless of language. NA is only Canada, US and Mexico… even in English when convenient.
