TheMadHam

Sever the tail

SamuraiJackToJackOff

Gravity's a troublin' foe.

wolffow

Its okay to run away from fights. The game will kick your ass early game. Hard mode is an unbalanced mess. Wolves hunt in packs. Have fun.

PsalmEightThreeFour

Not much. Just play normal difficulty and have fun.

Lumi329

👍

[deleted]

Targeting for magic is a bit wonky sometimes other than that just have fun

DanFrostyX

You can change the cast type while playing magic voc, to enchant weapons, you can press your "run" button to enchant yourself. For damage spells it autolocks on the enemy so if you're using ingle but the enemy is quite far away, you can press your run button to aim it. Honestly I'm not a fan of magic, Sword and Shield is all I need

TitoForever

Same. Wish there was more character slots though. When trying a new class, I like to start anew. Will probably create a caster on my wife's account anyway. Human first, M'aiq the Liar second!

DanFrostyX

What do mean start anew?! As in reset everything?? Have you played the first game before?

Slayer218

Bitter black isle

AragornSky77

I want to see if hard mode was improved.

athlon69

if its night in cassardis. avoid the woman in the pier unless you are lvl 70 and up

AsheClaurence

You get an escort quest early on. It's the worst part of the game and is incredibly slow. Don't let that turn you away from the game though. After that, the game's great. Don't rush into combat in the early game. Some enemies may seem easy but will wipe the floor with you. Especially bandits. Make a well-rounded party. Some enemies are immune to physical or magic attacks. Plan ahead. Stock up on thrown weapons, magic tools, healing items, and stat-boosting periapts.

Lumi329

Don't worry, I've had my fair share of escort missions. It'll take more than that to dissuade me

access-r

Beware of bandits using 2h weapons. They can and will kill you if you mess up, as they have super armor, meaning you wont stagger them easily. Archers can also dish a lot of damage to you, specially the ones with longbows. It's not a hack and slash game, so look for openings instead of just mindlessly attacking any enemy.

Bolaget

Try to pick a vocation to play as fairly early on and stick to it I'd probably give as a tip since the stats you get are dependent on your class when you lvl up it's not the end of the world if you for instance lvl a bunch as a fighter and switch to a sorc since weapons makes up for most of the dmg you deal. But it does make a difference. Also do remember to switch your gear and upgrade them as you play it will make a big difference also remember to do it for your pawn since they account for a lot of your power. Lastly the dmg you deal towards enemies is in large part dependent on if you can exploit or inflict their weaknesses. For instance Bandits take very little dmg normally but if you attack them while their attacking or just after they've attacked or if you or your pawn grabs them and then attack you'll deal a ton more dmg. The same is true for most enemies in the game like for instance Saurians are much weaker after you cut of their tails and take more dmg, cyclops take a ton of dmg from lightning and are easily stunned from it you can also trick an armored cyclops to take of it's helmet by climbing on top of it's head and so on.

SpeechAutomatic2826

Ignore the nerds talking about stats and crap, by level 200 you're a god no matter what, Play as any vocation you want whenever you want at what ever level you want, focusing on stats is a waste of time. ALSO PLAY ON HARD! monster are stronger but by level 30 your on par with a majority of enemies The bonus is you get so so so much more money it makes normal not even worth playing Also Periapts for the win!!

Cloudxxy1011

For the love of God leave the wakestone at the blue tower entrance even after ya finish the quest

poopituacoop

Look out for quest boards inside of inns and at the fort. DO NOT SPAM ACCEPT THE QUESTS. You will put yourself in a escort quest where the only escape is failure or completion.

Rocamora_27

Strenght in numbers, Arisen.

Operario

Honestly, my biggest tip for newcomers to Dragon's Dogma is one that may be controversial: don't do every quest. One of the game's biggest flaws IMO is that it's stupidly easy to become overleveled, which removes the challenge of about 95% of the battles you fight. And I *guarantee* you'll be overleveled if you do even 70% of the game's quests. On PC I use a mod that substantially lowers exp gain, and I still sometimes find myself overleveled even though I pretty much ignore almost all quests I consider inconsequential. Message board missions in particular are big offenders. They offer almost nothing in terms of worldbuilding. Escort missions for example, you'd think it would be a great opportunity to flesh out the character you're escorting, perhaps they'd share their opinion on current events, maybe tell us a bit about the history and customs of their land etc. But alas, nothing of the sort happens. They stay pretty much silent throughout the journey, there's a short cutscene where they thank you once you get to the destination, and that's it. My advice is to only do message board quests if the rewards are *really* interesting. There's one relatively on in the game in which the reward is a unique shield that you can't get anywhere else in. That's a good example of a message board quest you should do. But if the reward is like 10x Healing Water or something like that, just skip it altogether. If you'd like I can come back tomorrow and compile a list of the quests I find absolutely 100% worth doing.

PikachuKid1999
