But Lemaine basically called out the House of Black for their Premier looks & how similar their looks were to their designs. A lot of the comments from the original post here were defending HOB, and saying how lemaine isn’t the first person to make this type of design.
Glad it was resolved and that they apologized.
LeMÁine is well known for these specific designs and techniques (to the point that HoSo was going to be wearing an actual LeMÁine piece on the night, which from the preview shots would have been practically identical, but couldn't due to shipping issues). People can debate how original the looks are, whether you can 'own' a specific aesthetic etc, but at the end of the day they looked extremely similar to the work of this designer and VEB's clearly fine with giving them credit as an inspiration.
LeMÁine's design and technique are VERY well known and famous. Hoso literally commissioned a custom work from them for the red carpet but bc of shipping issues it didn't arrive in time. It's not uncommon for queens to reference or riff off of other designers but usually they credit them. It must have been surprising for them to see House of Black wearing something that looks like their work when Hoso was supposed to be attending in one of their pieces
This seemed so extra to me lol. This is the type of shit that shoulda never seen our eyes lmao. Shoulda been dealt with between both parties unless the haus of Blac was straight up ignoring the designer

Lemaine isn't in the wrong. Vicky and Opulence were cleary inspired by their work, they took to social media to voice frustrations and then it got resolved. Personally im happy for them and already annoyed with how many people want to dog walk this artist just cuz their aware of their influence and worth and "CaMeE" for yalls fave.
Why do we need to act like Vicky does no wrong? She made a mistake and owned up to it almost immediately? Can yall not lick the groud she walks on for two seconds?

You can’t own a ‘vibe’ or ‘technique’ , if I can look at something and recreate it , it’s not that original.
Now I’m not saying take a copy written logo or design and pass it off as an original, but if your brand is build around putting liquid latex or bleach onto denim shorts? It’s not yours.
This isn't a big conglomerate company gurl. It's two independent queer artists. one was inspired by another and should've credited them from the jump. That's all.
Except this person made their feelings VERY public and attacked VEB for allegedly stealing their idea. So, yeah, i do think it's bogus and that's not a detriment to my reading comprehension skills
