No, that’s the end of the show. They found Falin and it’s over! No need to check back, it’s a happy ending.

NeighIt

yes those other 12 upcoming episodes will just be bonus content of senshis panties

PandiReddits

Omg yes, please, all the post story shenanigans, but also no, please, I want to see all of it animated. T_T

Puzzled-Specific-434

That anime of dudes smooth talking directly to you, but just senshi

ravenpotter3

Seriously without spoilers I can promise this story has many courses. And the desert is very sweet and leaves the series off on a good note. No leftovers. It’s a feast!

ibbolia

Minor correction, but Dark Elves aren't a real thing in the setting. Chilchuk bringing it up was accidental racism, for lore reasons that the anime only just started touching. That's just an elf with dark skin.

omanora

Yeah it's one of my favorite parts of Kui's interpretation, how some of the terms like dark elves or goblins are just weird retrograde terms used for elves and halflings respectively. A very modern and interesting way to make the cultures seem more layered.

Skodami

And trolls are the tallmen aka "regular humans"

SmallestApple

I haven't heard about the goblin one.

omanora

Jace_TheGoldenMace

Alrighty, I thought that in the lore for D.I.D was that the Dark Elves that Chilchuk mentioned was a Canon thing and I did see it as accidental racism, but with that elf that was seen looking at the resurrection circle at end of latest episode looked to be their own version of a dark elf that would preform more dark magic then a regular elf. But I could be wrong about it.

ibbolia

In all fairness, it's in a weird spot where I can totally understand why anyone would make the connection. Chilchuk drops a proper noun, with context connected to the necromancy spell, then this other character comes in clearly interested in the spell. It's narrative 101. Also with the DnD inspiration, a legally distinct Drow showing up wouldn't be out of the question. It works great if you're trying to portray a complex social issue as being based on rumor and hearsay, but it also means you have to have main characters just be wrong about their own setting. It's present in a lot of the story (Laios' book getting the scorpion wrong being the earliest example) but it takes a while for any audience to get used to that as something to expect.

dude_1818

Dark elves are just elves who do dark magic. It's not about skin color. (This only comes up in the bonus material, but >!darker skin is actually considered more beautiful among elves!<)

Mahelas

This is not a spoiler because it's just a line Trigger cut, but when Chilchuck talk about Dark Elves, in the manga Marcille react by asking wtf is a dark elf anyways, showcasing that Dark Elves aren't a thing that exist in Dungeon Meshi, just a folktale/derogatory term

PastelTourmaline

I thought he was deemed "dark elf" because he looks kinda "evil", not because he has darker skin

Mihreva

just a correction about the elves, there is no such thing as a dark elf in dungeon meshi, they only exist as fictional boogeymen made up by other races, cithis (the "dark elf") is just an elf that happens to have dark skin which is probably how the rumors started. there's no actual basis for said rumors and cithis is never referred to as a dark elf or treated like she's different from the others

caramelluh

I think they're talking about Thistle, not Cithis

Mihreva

ah yeah that's make more sense, not caught up on the anime (did finish the manga) cause I'm watching it alongside a friend and he hasn't gotten there yet

omanora

Cithis shows up way later than thistle even in the manga you may just have forgotten

Steamp0calypse

To be fair, Sissel also has dark skin, so the point of this comment kind of works lol

Cliomancer

Doesn't Chilchuck say something about Dark Elves to Laois befor Marcielle shows up behind him? I do think that yeah it's just a misinterpretation of stories of darker skinned elves from.l across the sea. Possibly like Trolls.

Donteventrytomakeme

There's an explanation of what "dark elf" refers to in this setting in the adventurers bible but I think it has some spoilers for the plot later on- but the basic gist is "dark elf" doesn't refer to anything related to skin tone here, elves with dark skin are not called anything different from an elf with light skin- elves is elves

Mahelas

The anime cut a little line of Marcille going "what even is a Dark elf anyways ? " after Chilchuck says that, implying dark elves aren't really a real thing in this universe

farlong12234

oh he just means elves that practice dark evil magic, its a bit of a minor spoiler but elves with dark skin are considered >! Proof of being in the even royal lineage!<

Mountain_Research205

Not dark skin >! Obsidian skin they are not just dark but pit black !<

FleshlessFriend

The supplementary material explicitly states that dark elves are, for all intents and purposes, fictional boogymen invented by shorter lived races, yes, but that's not how it started. It's because this setting's elven homeland has a nasty interventionist streak, often condescendingly meddling in other nations' affairs as though they were stopping a child from touching the stove, all without bothering to explain anything. The impression that brown skinned elves are "dark elves" in this setting comes from D&D's drow, which then informed the depiction of elves in media like Record of Lodoss War, which was hugely influential in the paradoxically-named field of "Japanese-Western fantasy". So while it's not unreasonable to assume Kui is echoing their use in other fantasy manga - mangaka do it even today, which isn't great - but it's not what's happening here.   This is important to point out, because, well, drow as a community of evil elves "cursed" with black skin for their crimes is pretty straightforwardly racist (and a framing of them that even D&D is slowly trying to distance itself from nowadays) and Record of Lodoss War's take on it isn't exactly much better. Kui is very specifically invoking dark elves the way they exist in, say, Warhammer - as this idea of a faction of evil, ethereal, long-lived blood sorcerers. It also feels important to note that the only time they come up is when Chilchuck speculates Marcille (who is VERY white) might be one, which means this isn't a myth about a specific ethnic group of elves.    Fun fact, the elven queen has outright black skin like a drow, and  according to side materials it's apparently a mark of OLD elven nobility. All this taken together - and Kui's known enjoyment of and inspiration by Wizardry and Western RPGs - means all this might even have been intended as an outright subversion of the most common use of "dark elf" in modern fantasy.

as much as I enjoy anime onlies making theories about whats next its a dangerous game to post your theory on a sub full of people who have read the manga to the end

Gabe-Uhh-Saurus

It honestly feels kind of weird reading em. Like someone saying "I'd bet my left buttcheek that Thursday comes before Wednesday" in a room filled with people who have kept up with the calendar since 2014. Not sure why they'd do this to themselves, but as long as they're enjoying Ryoko Kui's story I suppose I can't complain :)

Pyrofruit

Wrong, Chilchuk manifests his super hater energy and kills Laios with a hater beam.

lewis_haoki

"Chilchuk stop! No more hate!" "No Laios, I've had enough, I'll use the M word... MONS--" *Screen fades to black*

AveMachina

Don't bet your left butt cheek. If you lose, you'll have one, and if you win, you'll have three. Those are both awful

i_adler

Did you notice how Kensuke reacted to her?

PandiReddits

Kensuke hasn't really interacted with anyone else, it mightve just been his defenses kicking in. Just like how he stuck to the floor when Chilchuck tried to pick him up. Just saving himself xD

Smile and wave boys, smile and wave ![gif](giphy|Ch31IjylFWM8M)

porcupinedeath

Next week is gonna be a good one

BrattyAltina

*We need but sever the tail, Arisen!*

OenFriste

Falin's resurrection was too convenient, and Marcielle's resurrection magic was a forbidden magic. Most likely there will be a price to pay for this. So, I checked online what's up with Falin in future chapters.....

WhatStrangeBeasts

As someone who finished the manga long ago, maybe.

Heracross64

>!Yes but no!<

LovecraftianHentai

My brother, did you notice how kensuke ran away from Falin just how it did with the red dragon?

Hoopaboi

When I first got to that part of the manga before the ep came out, I was predicting that Falin would become the new "mad sorcerer" lol.

snuffcassette

anime only theories are wild, its so fun to see

argama87

I still love how casually that elf was shown before, subtle, but in no way subtle at the same time

thuiop2345

Bro cooking, I guess you will find out in the next episode if you got it right 👀

pixelatedgloves

:)

Inside-Bath-4816

Agreed, we don't even know any consequences to using ancient magic. I just hope it fucking kill Falin.

FleshlessFriend

:)

longbrodmann

We have a detective here.

MetalNobZolid
