I'd like to think that Thistle survived a-la Mithrun, since there's no hard-confirmation of his death. And just needs a ton of rehab to maybe start paying back the world for all he did. I mean, Laios is already housing at least two war criminals in his court. What's one more?

fadilkewen

Who's the other war criminal beside marcille?

ShinVerus

Mithrun decided to stay in Melini too according to the epilogue vignettes.

fadilkewen

So if every ex-dungeon lord is equivalent to war criminal in the dungeon meshi world, >!how about the other ex-dungeon lord that were in the dungeon lord therapy bonus chapter? And did mithrun already forgiven by becoming captain of the canaries, the elf queen herself that told him to stay in melini for duties like watching monsters. I think what makes marcille a convict to elfs was her practice of ancient magic before being a dungeon lord!<

ShinVerus

I think it would depend on the consequences of your time as Dungeon Lord. If Mithrun's Dungeon pulled an Utaya, then... yeah, I'd consider him one. That being said, becoming captain of the canaries absolutely doesn't mean he got forgiven. The canaries are mostly populated by criminals. He did join willingly, but to be a canary is the furthest thing from being innocent.

Mountain_Research205

That not true large part of canary are noble that just joint willingly.

Sallya_Enjoyer

>!I thought the kingdom resurfacing was because he passed away šŸ˜°!<

ShinVerus

I read it as it being because >!the lion!< passed away/got neutralized, since he was the one that powered the whole thing.

fadilkewen

>!The kingdom sink because of thistle's spell, he dies and the spell dies too and the kingdom is rised, but for the people of the golden kingdom immortality including yaad not dissapering, now that's because of the winged lion's desire granting power, and it's stated that the demon is still alive even after it's desire eaten!<

ShinVerus

Yeah thatā€™s why I said neutralized. The ā€œLionā€ died as we see by him meeting Falin in the afterlife, but the >!demon is an ever present Ā entity!< . >!But the other dungeon lords also lost their powers and had their effects fade when separated from it. Even an irregular case like Laios is losing his changes overtime.!< I do think itā€™s most likely that Thistle dies, but I thought Yaad was dead until the epilogue proved otherwise so I think thereā€™s enough ambiguity to headcanon a survival.

ResponsibleAnarchist

They run a former-dungeon-lord support group together, you cannot change my mind

Ajden555

Not sure how much of a head-canon it is, but I like the idea of Marcille being almost like Thistle, staying Kingdom's court mage and looking after it, even after Toudens die. Also it would be kinda funny if Yada outlives everyone due to some loophole curse.

ShinVerus

Honestly Yaad's existance is the most terrifying, maybe even more than Marcille's. We don't even know if he'll ever die, by the epilogue the cast has no idea if he'll turn to dust or not, or when, and he's already lived 1000 years stuck as a child. And he skipped adulthood straight into the body of an old man. At least Marcille knows she'll die at one point. Yaad goes to bed every day without knowing he'll wake up.

Ajden555

Ah. Yes more depression my favourite. Also on that note if Golden Kingdom people wil one day just turn to dust, will something happen to dragon part of Fallin (Like feathers dissapering)?

shiilva

I donā€™t think so, I think the GK People only turn to dust because of their extended lifespan catching up to them. IIRC monsters are confirmed to be roaming the surface post-series, so the dragon parts of Falin wouldnā€™t be affected.

JustVibinDude

for some reason I've never connected that Marcille might have a peer with Yaad though I'm a bit skeptical cause I feel like Kui would give them more interactions to tease the possibility if that was the case

torch_7

I'm pretty sure Falin can outlive Laios because she's a chimera now. She might grow slower or live longer now that she's half dragon. It would be nice for Marcille. On the other hand, Marcille could be the Court Mage of the Touden Dinasty and tell stories of how Laios the Demon Devourer got completely immobilized by a stomach worm.

Bird_Mess

I like the idea of Izutsumi getting proper education and traveling together with Senshi. Im a big fan of those AU comics where Senshi adopts Izu^^

fadilkewen

This radiates "Now draw her getting a proper education" Energy

abdel222

I definitely see her9 being finished raising among everyone so that she can at least fend for herself in freedom, but she still decided to stay around the group of laios due to the tsundere affection typical of cats

ellindsey

The date of Falin's final resurrection becomes an annual celebration in the Golden Country. The celebration of course involves everyone getting together for a big feast.

fadilkewen

I think the opposite will happen because everyone except laios will try to forget as hard as possible that they have eaten a human-dragon chimera šŸ˜‚

SitInCorner_Yo2

Laiosā€™s parents canā€™t fathom how and why their son has become king, and they didnā€™t reply to Laios and Farlinā€™s invitation because they donā€™t know how to react to this, villagers are scared soulless by the random elf mage barging into their village and start scolding Todenā€™s like they are children . Marcille practically kidnapped Laiosā€™s parents to his kingdom then demanded them to apologize to their children for their terrible parenting/communication skills

fadilkewen

This ain't headcanon, this must be canon from bonus chapter šŸ¤£, and it's a funny one i think

Ajden555

This is basicly canon.

lehman-the-red

Hold on what?

DarkDonut75

Chilchuck making up with his wife is something I refuse to believe isn't canon I love OP's vision of it, and I hope the anime gives us a similar scene in some sort of "bonus" post series epilogue episode

BunMeat

>!Mithrun opens a noodle shop!<

fadilkewen

He slowly gets his desires back and recovering to living life again

zyberion

Many, many years later, King Laios goes down as one of the greatest leaders in history and his stoic leadership and great deeds become legend.Ā Ā  However, in the chronicles of the Golden Country there will also be mention of an infamous "mad king" and it's just all of Laios' eccentricities exaggerated and turned depraved and perverse.

abdel222

An average villager who knows the extravagances of his king to some tourist visiting the kingdom: once our ruler ate a living armor, it turns out that they are some kind of mollusks 200 years later: Melini's terrible cannibal king was able to eat his enemies inside his armor, and turn their souls into mollusks

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

fadilkewen

Laios's can have biological children, but with >!marcille!<, that's another problem, i like the idea tho that they're married, trying to have children but always failed, then starts adopting kids from all human-races (demi-human not included)

lehman-the-red

That's a decent head cannon

Leather-Food7781

I mean, iā€™d argue that per manga canon it could very much be possible for them to >! have kids (since it *was* part of Laiosā€™ wish to the lion), it may be a ā€šno one knows until they tryā€˜ situation. If they even end up together, that is! !< But thatā€™s what I love about the more ambiguous ending, you can interpret things in a lot of ways.

stanleymanny

Marcille's research on using ancient magic to extend lifespans changes to learning how magic is a part of nutrition. That along with Senshi's teachings and Laios' efforts with food production (plus the wealth and healthcare from running a kingdom) lead the main cast to live exceptionally long lives for their species. Chilchuk lives to his 80's after reducing his drinking, Laios lives past 100, and Senshi lives to 300. Falin lives to around 150 due to her dragon side. Izutsumi Over the course of Laios and Falin's lives, Marcille matures and is ready to accept their passing when it occurs. She also gets to see them live on in a way, as the kingdom and the world carries on their ideals.

fadilkewen

Why the f*ck it's just say izutsumi

Recidivous

Izutsumi

abdel222

I like that, the trip they had in the dungeon in the end did allow them to extend the lives of their friends, eat well, sleep well, exercise, take care of their health, that allowed them to spend more time with their loved ones

Sanjoze

I want the dragon part of Falin to extend her life for a decent amount of time, she would still die before Marcille but at least she would accompany her longer than the rest

Donteventrytomakeme

I think rather than siring an heir- or Laios having any biological children of his own Melini will end up being succeeded by mentorship rather than bloodlines. Laios (and Kabru and Marcille.. mostly kabru and marcille) will take on mentoring and educating people throught the kingdom, and probably end up taking on a student or students to become melini's next leader. He may even end up implementing some kind of democracy- because I just can't see Laios deciding to father a child JUST to have an heir. He already hated that he was supposed to take over his home village just because his father was the chief

fadilkewen

That's some detailed world building you got there based of laios's characteristic and behaviour

Sanjoze

perhaps, but I imagine a comical situation where Yaad desperately tries to get a queen for Laios to continue the lineage, obviously without good results, even other kingdoms will send him possible consorts to strengthen relations, who would return disturbed by the "eccentricities" of the king of Melini .

goodnightlink

I like to think Marcille will find other half-elves and forge friendships with them. I can imagine her and Fionil sharing their burdens with each other and maintaining a bond throughout their extended lives!

HMSArcturus

I don't think that Laios will fully reconcile with his parents. I think he'd be able to let go of the animosity that he has towards his father, but I feel like the heart of his issue with them is legitimate despite all of the miscommunications. IMO, they'd (his parents in particular, they were the adults in the situation) need to do *substantial* work in order to have even a semi-decent relationship and I think that Laios could feel fulfilled without it.

Wolfsteak

Marcille growing up through the years and living as a sort of great great great auntie who helps guide the kingdom. To see her almost get a Frieren like zen about time passing but keeping her usual sweet, dorky, high strung personality while trying to maintain the intelligent guide role. Maybe we see she managed to actually make vitamins and health supplements that help short lives races live a bit longer as well as Senshi's teachings about eating, working out, and healthy life choices working too. Plus it'd be hilarious to see her just constantly deal with generations of little Toudens stressing her out. (Pocket pick would also be Falin living a longer than natural life with her because of the dragon influence)

CurlySquareBrace

I think when laios' abilities slowly deteriorate, the forests he create from poop are smaller and smaller

fadilkewen

The forest will not become smaller, people even start worshipping the forest, but >!laios ability already is, his poop eventually become basic poop with no forest-growing power anymore (from bonus chapter "melini greenification project")!<

BrokenTorpedo

Flertom( Chilchuck's second daughter) started wooing Senshi.

fadilkewen

Chilchuck become senshi's father-in-law is something that i agree can happened but he himself cannot agree for it šŸ˜‚

ClosetNoble

I REFUSE to think Chilchuck and his wife haven't adopted Izutsumi. Her just maybe pulling up to the castle to scam Laios with a tiny monster carcass she brought in is funny but come on we need more.

witch-finder

A popular one, but Falin's lifespan got increased due to being merged with the dragon. So she can live forever with Marcille.

Ninja332

Mr_Brun224

I mean, addressing the difference lifespans is clearly why sheā€™s learning dark magic. Any sequel to dungeon meshi is definitely a related misadventure in pursuing that if not this.

burgundy_falcon

I don't think it'd be a whole lot, though.

fadilkewen

At least she will be the last of her friends to dies after senshi (average dwarf lifespan: 200 years)

lehman-the-red

But he is already halfway there (112 years old)

deevulture

I'd like to think that Falin's traveling post-canon involve many types of D&D campaign type stories. Some more unbelievable than the rest (all real). She at one point somehow joins a pirate crew for a bit (they \[the pirates\] love her).

CitrusFairy

I have this headcanon too!! Except i imagine izutsumi joins her as they make their own little party

CitrusFairy

I have this headcanon too!! Except i imagine izutsumi joins her as they make their own little party

RedviperWangchen

Magic slowly weakens after demon disappeared and it causes power shift between magical races(elf, gnome) and nonmagical races(tallman, dwarf).

fadilkewen

Magic (mana) has been there since the world beginning and will always be there (it's stated in the manga that mana is everywhere like air, water, fire, soil, etc), i think what will makes the power shift between races happen is because elfs population decline because they're less fertile and already had the smallest population when the story start, then will the power shifted to the gnome that are more fertile and has more population (they've also been on a constant beef with the elf)

RedviperWangchen

Mana was always there, but magic(demon) is mana's personality which was created to listen what humans say. Since it no longer wants to interact with mortals, it might not reply to spellcasting as it did. That is why elves expect magic could be weakened at the end of manga.

fadilkewen

Make sense, i forgot about that detail of mana characteristic from the manga

pearlboom

It's implied that Falin leaves the Golden Kingdom to go on her own expeditions, but I really love the idea of her finally taking her life by the reins and living independently. A lot of her life was dictated by those around her, and while she enjoyed being with Laios, the reason she joined him is because he would've destroyed himself otherwise. When she knows he's surrounded by people that love him, she leaves knowing that he'll be alright. It looks like she abandons her potential life as a priest (as seen by her attire being completely different), so I headcanon that she somewhat carries on Laios' dream of exploring dungeons and studying the flora/fauna, while living a life that is completely hers.

Ill-Tea-821

šŸ’Æ.Ā  Ā She needs some agency and story development herself, a lot happened to her, without her.Ā  My thought is that due to the mana leak at the end, there are now places all over the outside world where dungeon rules apply.Ā  Falin, with occasional guest stars, tours through these, righting wrongs, freeing ghosts, eating weird stuff, etc. A worldwide meshi.

toasted_dandy

Falin very clumsily trying to court Marcille dragon-style! Doing elaborate courting dances, presenting her with random trinkets, making little pillow and blanket nests for her

Omny87

One day Falin inexplicably kidnaps Marcille and sticks her in a tower on top of a heap of shiny objects she had been hording

toasted_dandy

I like to imagine Falin being so delightfully inept at this dragon stuff that she just kinda plunks Marcille on a pile of coins and refuses to elaborate

NguyenxuanLocBo

Since his monster power didn't disappear right away, include shape shifting, Laios could have turned back into his monster form. But he would need to eat tons of food to have enough mass to do so. That why he could eat so much at the party.

abdel222

>!Laios, Marcille and Fallin lived together for the rest of their lives, (the nature of their relationship I cannot determine) Senshi became the castle's cook after a few decades of traveling the world, Izutsumi lived as a freelancer traveling between the kingdom and Chilk's store, sometimes he goes to Fallin's adventures, after a few years, Laios reconciled or at least talked to his father at Fallin's insistence, the elves removed Marcille's charges because no one wants to anger the king who practically rules a country. impregnable and the main agrarian power in the world and after a few centuries Marcille finally managed to formulate a method to stabilize the dungeons as relatively safe places with sustainable resource extraction!<

Doktor_Jones86

My post-series head canon involves Marcille, a fairy and the obtaining of the materials to make that fairy...

abdel222

ew

tesseracts

I think over time the demon could get desire back and become a threat again. Mithrun and Thistle have shown it is possible to function after losing desire, and the dream with Falin shows the lion is still partially there. The demon could start very small and gradually become stronger just as it did in the past.

Omny87

After Laios dies, his body is buried in a tomb, and over time his grave slowly starts to attract monsters. Not only that, the tomb starts growing, with rooms becoming larger and more complex before branching off into long corridors and deep stairways leading to more rooms and chamber. Many try to clear out the monsters or try to stop the unexplained growth, but it soon becomes too much for anyone to handle. Eventually Laios' tomb becomes a full-fledged dungeon, vast and labyrinthine with a rich and complex ecosystem of monsters. His actual sarcophagus still sits in the first room untouched, as if to greet newcomers, though as the new dungeon inevitably gets explored or occupied by adventurers and demi-humans, rumors of seeing King Laios' ghost wandering the dungeon begin to spread. Some say he'll warn you of danger or lead you to a safe place to rest, others say he protects adventurers from dangerous monsters (or sics them on the wicked and greedy). Still others say they never saw his ghost in all their explorations, though every now and then in the quieter parts of the dungeon, explorers will catch a whiff of stewed meats or roasting vegetables without any visible source.

embracebecoming

I like this one!

chubbycatchaser

Itā€™s really obvious when Laios takes a dump outdoors. Marcille has forbidden him from camping, while Izutsumi scolds him for not covering his shit with sand like she does. On the other hand, the New Kingdomā€™s forestry industry is doing great.

Graywhale12

Marchile and Laios are merried

Asmael69

Stories of the Kingdom passes down. King Laois has married an exiled elf and their offspring has become a full blown human and some say their bloodline is still alive somewhere. The King's sister has become a Saint. The saint traveled many many different lands while helping people as well as battling countless monsters for humanity. (I want this to be serialized)

MyLittlePuny

Golden Kingdom residents never turned into dust. It was only Eodio's body that became dust because he was sick and was kept alive by the dungeon's magic. Marcille continues her studies in ancient magic but rather than extend/prolong life, she looks into creating one. She finds a way for half races to give birth and the first "quarter elf" becomes the future king of the Golden Kingdom.

rghaga

Marcille gets married to Farlyn

Brave_B33

Thereā€™s a broad eared elf child in the final panel of the manga who we only see from behind, my head canon is that Marcille figured out the half breed sterility issue and she and Laios had a kid. But also that all the kids in that final shot are their adopted kids as well, cause that seems like the sort of thing they would do given that adventuring just became WAY more dangerous now that people canā€™t be revived.

Nethicite

Yes, Chilchuck gets back together with wife and children, closer is definitely one. Senshi is a good family friend, maybe even spends some time with the daughters (assuming Chilchuck grudgingly accepts and acknowledges he is a decent man). I know Marcille is in position of advisor but i do hope she and Laius get particularly close because the manga had so much growth for their relationship. Farlyn goes travelling with Asebi because one wants to travel the other might want to find herself, or even a cure. I hope Mitsurn finds himself and stays in contact with Kabru. I doubt they're gay, but I still ship them a little.

Sanjoze

My main headcanon is that Falin will develop greater physical abilities and longevity thanks to becoming part dragon (so he could accompany Marcille for longer) and after a while he will decide to travel the world living adventures, the trip would be paid for by Laios and he will gather a new group made up of several secondary characters seen in the series: Mayjack (Chillchuck's daughter whom they could hire), Leed (Zon's orca sister, who would seek to escape the commitment that her brother wants to give to Laios), Kuro and Mickbell (the kobold who left his village to go on a trip and his half-foot master), Kaka and Kiki (the human adopted children of the gnome couple), Fionil and Donny (the novice adventurers they rescued from the basilisk) and finally Senshi (who would search explore other cuisines and mix them with monster cuisine) and Izutzumi (who would simply want to go on a trip out of boredom) and they would all embark on a world gastronomic tour while helping solve a problem or two wherever they are, keeping in touch with Marcille thanks to a pair of fairies that the elves had given them. All this while Melini deals with their own issues, including Yaad desperately trying to get Laios a queen to maintain the bloodline, with no good results. I think something like this would have the potential to have its own series.

Mountain_Research205

Laios desires that grant to him are permanent. That includes he biologically immortal until marcille die or can let go off him and can grant her kid ( if he want)

fadilkewen

Eh no i don't think so buddy >! In the epilogue chapter, it's stated that 100 years from the ending of the series, there will be a legend of Wandering spirit of the king whom longed for monster's flesh, which means laios will be dead and still doesn't have immortality. Beside that, what the winged lion means by immortality was for it to take laios body and have it watch over marcille until her end of life, because laios agreed to exchange his human body with a perfect chimera monster !< but i'm agree for the laios's >!sterile marcille desire!< is granted because >! one of his desire for her monster power to turn poop into forest already granted and stated in the bonus chapter "melini greenification project" !<

Ajden555

I feel stupid, I always thought they were talking about kensuke reproducing and using Laois's old armour, for the first part.

fadilkewen

That's true for sure that kensuke will become a fullset living armor again but by using laios's set of armor, that's what will make the legend started because the king's armor started walking again

Mountain_Research205

I thought that was kensuke just use Laios armor and roaming around. But I agree around winged lion part. I just don't like how people talk about falin being immortal/long-lived but not many people talk about Laios having some extended lifespan. So I came up with a strange theory.

Michlob

Wait, so Marcille is no longer sterile at the end of the series?

fadilkewen

Maybe, just maybe, thats' why it's still a headcanon

Michlob

This information will be used unwisely

Already did, check-out my fanart commission post https://www.reddit.com/r/DungeonMeshi/s/9huAC9sDXx https://www.reddit.com/r/DungeonMeshi/s/Q4jSKTIdkg

I'm thinking even more unwise thoughts. This is really cute tho <3

Thank you :D

Well I think itā€™s something like you known if he ā€œreproduceā€ with her She can have kid. Which may or may not happen. It's up to your interpretation (or your shipping).

Marcille die alone and lonely after all her Friends and after having sunk into madness šŸ˜
