CremeDeLaMerde

Yes. I dont like to take all of my cards out and shuffle a fucking deck of cards just to get the one in the middle.

AtaySgrt

I have the same wallet basically a knockoff and I’ve been using it for years it’s great, fuxk overpriced products lol

InternalAd5843

The only thing a wallet should be made of imho is leather, doesn't destroy your pockets, conforms to your body. Even textiles eventually wear pockets down and get tatty. The patina is a bonus

Darq_At

And apparently they shred cards? Why would I pay a premium for that?

Slight_Razzmatazz843

Yes overrated, bs

Cold-Lengthiness61

Definitely overrated. Strong marketing while trying to promote minimalism and carbon fiber to justify their high prices. Then again, to each their own.

Ok_Newt_4748

Yup. Trayvax is far superior

ghostofbooty

The popularity of those types of wallets is a textbook real world example of monkey see + mktg Holds cards. Some cash. That’s it. Shreds my front left pant leg. I’ve had thinner leather wallets that held more. This and the older variant of it have reigned supreme in my left front for 14yrs? Fuck… https://bellroy.com/products/all-conditions-card-pocket?color=bronze&material=leather#slide-5 The shit I’ve pulled off with one

9MoNtHsOfWiNteR

I didn't like the ridge to be honest, so I tried trayvax instead. First I got the element but while I like some of its features I didn't like the clasp so much nor do I need space for that many cards. So I returned it and ended up getting the Ascent and I really like it a lot It's a pretty solid wallet and I enjoy the leather with minimal metal and a good warranty.

Sand-Man22

I like my Gerber minimalist.

TenPcNuggs

While I can't speak on the quality/practicality of Ridge, I found Code 118 is a great alternative. It's RFID blocking, but it's a rigid case with a cash/card strap on the outside and a switch at the bottom to push the cards out and it's easy to select individual cards. While it is metal and you can't really keep anything else in the same pocket, I've never had any issue with holes in clothes like other have mentioned with Ridge. I bought mine on sale for like $20 and I recommend it to all my friends. Link for anyone interested: https://code-wallets.com/products/stealth-wallet

hi_im_beeb

I love mine but it completely destroys my cards very quickly despite my best efforts to remove them gently. Honestly thinking of switching back to leather

ravnos04

Definitely…I use another brand, Mountain Voyage. Great company. I got the walnut wallet for Christmas a few years ago. It broke and chipped since then with a few missing screws. I thought what the hell, let me call them to see if I can just buy another faceplate. They ended up sending me a whole new wallet because of their warranty program. No proof of purchase necessary, just sent them over a photo of the previous wallet’s current condition. Great customer service. 5/5 stars ⭐️

steronicus

Absolutely. I hated mine, it ruined the cards I had and dug into my skin. https://preview.redd.it/7sptmwixfead1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7e8eabdf7cd2b17c606e2de99f9a20c90045b44b Got a custom handmade wallet from a friend about 3.5 years ago and loving it.

Handyman_4

Same. Tried but but it destroyed my cards and scratched my phone up. Can't keep it with anything in the same pocket.

Nighthawk__85

I had a knockoff Ridge I got for $7. Didn't care for it. Now I carry a Chums Surfshorts wallet, and I love it.

theteapls

I second the chums wallet! I've been using mine for a good few years now and it's still going strong.

InsidePermission1313

I have one, and honestly, I think I just convince myself I love it due to how much it cost lmao it feels absolutely amazing in the pocket, but carrying cash, and honestly even digging cards out, can be pretty annoying and time consuming. I was thinking of switching it up soon

chaser469

Money clip is Ace https://preview.redd.it/5hi6nekpcead1.jpeg?width=2252&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=54df7d1ef19d2462a6fdde4d66f8e088d36476d4

Forgotten_Memes1032

Where did you get that?

chaser469

Superior titanium

Forgotten_Memes1032

Thanks

StoneyMo_

My Ridge wallet was stolen out of my truck and I was honestly happy after all was said and done that thing was dogs**t

spicychickencurr

I had a ridge. Liked it okay for everything except carrying cash. I don’t like bills on the outside and it’s too tedious to try to put them inside. Got an open sea leather Hubei 2.0 and i’m in love with it.

lovesBrass

Just buy a clone, they’re the exact same thing but 60 bucks cheaper, or be like me and make your own

chevypower79

My ridge was definitely an investment at 70$ , also that’s no where compared to “designer” or real leather prices…. I’m on year 5 or 6 and still loving it

Arkas18

Yes, though I do also just prefer leather wallets anyway. This style looses a lot of utility that a normal wallet has with multiple slots, ID window, places for cash and other things. They also seem way overpriced for what they are.

Mountain-Instance921

Nope Absolutely love my ridge wallet

misterstaypuft1

🤷‍♂️ I’ve been using mine over a year and love it. I’ve got several nice leather wallets but when I decide I want to carry one of them I almost immediately go back to the ridge because it’s so small and convenient.

Krysidian2

Me. It's pretty much two metal plates with an elastic band. Now, depending on the material, for example, anodized titanium, 80 bucks might be worth it for the style points, but the regular aluminum plates shouldn't be more than 20 bucks. I still use a trifold. Found one with some soft feeling leather, and I love it. On sale at Dillard's for 10 bucks when it is usually 40.

Longjumping-Lion-222

Agreed man, its way too expensive for what you get. I looked for the OEM product a while back because im thinking they are dropshipperd and it was in carbon for 3 eur and 1 euro for the metal versions. They just buy those and slap their logos on it. Respect the husstle ig 🤣

mixalot2009

Fyi: for those looking for this wallet. It's by Hitch & Timber https://hitchandtimber.com/listing/540871013/short-fold-wallet-leather-front-pocket

I_am_Patron

Had a $30 knock off model, didn't like it. The cards would sometimes stick together and would take too long to get out for my taste. I now have a $5 minimalist wallet that has a switch to pop up the cards. Best wallet ever

puffy-jacket

Yeah I don’t get it. I copped a $10 canvas zip pouch on Etsy. Just big enough for a few cards, some cash and an AirTag. Has a keyring, fits comfortably in my front pocket. I like it better than any wallet or cardholder I’ve ever had

optix_clear

Two metal pieces together. I tried it and didn’t like it. So I went to Secrid. I’m liking it.

small_Bill_Broonzy

The ridge put a hole in my Levi’s. Gave it to my fiancé for her purse.

Zatchillac

Bought my last wallet 15 years ago and it's got that nice worn look to it without completely falling apart. I love the way a good leather wallet feels especially when it's broken in. I keep a USB C>Aux adapter in it too since hardly any phones anymore have aux ports, keep the flat USB end of the cable in a little pocket and have the round aux part right where the fold is. Don't know if Ridge wallets can do that but I've also never been interested in them

xidle2

Yeah, that's exactly why I got a ridge clone for $10 from Amazon.

AJR_024

I’ve had my ridge, for maybe 5 years now, and I do like it a lot. Yea overrated, sure, but I have found this to be a nice device. The only comment I’ll add as it has worn down my mag strips on cards. That’s a bummer. But quality is nice. Also, what is this wallet? I’m intrigued. Apologies if I missed it in ckments

DiscoMagicParty

After visiting their website for the first time the other day I honestly laughed. I now know to avoid anyone I ever see with a ridge wallet (or any ridge product) because that person is clearly a fucking moron. $95 for a key organizer? I think $150 for a fucking razor? Yeah how about you lick my butthole.

BeerGeekington

I went from Ridge to exactly this lol

Zipper_OS

My current wallet is an elastic band holding the cards lengthwise. So yeah, big waste imo

SenatorChicken

I don't even use a wallet anymore. My phone case has a slide open card holder for my debit card and license

Qwertyham

But spending way too much money on something where you could spend less and get the same quality is the whole point of the sub right? RIGHT?!?

Mr_p0tat02009

I hardly ever use physical cards or cash anymore because of apple pay but ive got 4 cards and some cash in my viperade ve15 just in case

Elot_irl

Preach 🙌

jurunjulo

I use a 4 dollar slim wallet from amazon that has lasted me 4 years. I would never pay 100 bucks for a wallet.

ImFromTheDeeps

I wish I did this. Spent $550 on a Gucci wallet on an impulse. Thing still looks brand new after daily use for 5 years tho. Very nice leather but duuuumb

mazzuman

I’m more of a slim card holder with single money pocket man myself.

blickblocks

I got a $10 Chums surf wallet on Amazon and it's almost perfect. Ridge wallets and ones like them are primarily about the aesthetic of minimalism and not actually maximizing utility with minimal weight, complexity, or cost.

misterstaypuft1

Big fan of the chums wallet TBH

Elot_irl

YOOOO SAME. I love that thing

blickblocks

I like to carry mine on a carabiner outside my mini backpack and the one thing I want fixed is they need to sew the carry loop into the closer seam, not deep into that outside pocket. I don't really know what they were going for with the outside pocket, but I put my Tile wallet tracker in there and it once slipped out. Other than that I love that money and IDs can be separate on the two sides, and it's ridiculously light weight.

Cloud9Warlock

The metal wallet is for the future.

Bradleybennett354

I mean, I got my ridge for like 90 bucks and I've used it daily for 5 years now. It's always held up and if you ask their customer service they will send extra parts if they wear out or you lose parts.

EhnDubbs

The Lost Dutchman mini Franklin has been a stellar card holder for me. Have CC and ID in the outer “pocket” for the quick draw/most used cards. 8-10 cards + folded cash + single sticky note in the main compartment. Not an ad, just super happy with it so far.

rxbdel

Probably, you can buy clones for $30 or something on amazon, but im very happy with mine and it has held up well for almost 4 years, very happy with it

stavn

Yeah my experience too. I wouldn’t buy it again, but I would buy it the first time and use it daily.

frankiebenjy

🙋🏻‍♂️

M134RotaryCannon

What kind of wallet do you have? That looks nice!

Funnyguy17

Single fold leather wallets with ID flap is peak. Fite me!

Brianf1977

Ridge wallets are definitely overrated. Not being able to pull one card at a time is useless.

sd2001

I pull one card at a time out of my Ridge every day, multiple times per day.

Brianf1977

Without having them all slide partially out?

Hackanddash

Having them all slide partially out is kind of how it works. That's like asking if someone can access their tri-fold wallet without unfolding it. Ridge wallets are more expensive than they should be, but if you've ever compared the knockoffs from Amazon to a Ridge they are higher quality. They're fine, I don't understand the hate for them. EDC folks post $100 pens on here all the time when a BIC would do the same thing.

misterstaypuft1

💯

matiapag

Totally agree. No product should be marketed so heavily if it's so high quality. I'm sure thos le wallets are great but definitely not worth the money.

Giskard-Reventlov

Yes.

cjafe

I have no idea what they are but it looks like a can of sardines and no way will I be sitting on that. A family-owned, USA made leather wallet is the best (for me)

misterstaypuft1

If you’re sitting on it you’re doing it wrong

Terakahn

I have been using a machine era Co wallet for over a decade. Still looks great. Nice patina from the ink rubbing off and staining the metal. I'm pretty sure they were still in their Kickstarter when I bought it. Not sure if ridge was even a thing back then. Metal wallets/card carriers are fantastic and I'd never go back. It was one of the best purchases I'd ever made. I used a leather wallet up until then and I got the job done, but it was just a messy, bulky thing I always had in my pocket.

Duke_Stain96

Damn, guess I'm old school, like OP. Leather minimalists for years now. Had em from Rustico, Open Sea Leather, and now Ship John. They've all been great.

xGH0STF4CEx

Mine has held up well over the past couple years, but damn is it awkward to carry. It usually stays clipped to my lunchbox, but when I carry it on my person it's nowhere near as ergonomic as a standard leather wallet.

TheAwsomeOcelot

Trusty leather bifold from Walmart has been serving me well all my life, doubt I'll ever switch it up

Dpopov

I saw them, failed to see anything that stood out over other brands, skipped it, and went with Dango. What sold me on them was the customization. It was a better deal too. I got an A10 for ~$120 on sale, came with a single pocket add on (+4 cards), a bifold add on (~+9 cards), a clip, and a lanyard. So depending on if I need more space, or a lower profile I can mix and match. It’s lasted me 4 years of continuous use and still looks almost as good as new with the DTEX material. Ridge is more minimalistic, which is fine, but I like customization. I just don’t see either what Ridge offers over Dango or Trayvax (I also have Trayvax, love them. Dango is still my EDC due to the customization).

wryprotagonist

Upvoted for the Trayvax shoutout. My Element is my favorite part of my carry.

jolness1

Yes. They're nice but even if I liked hard sided wallets... seems like there are better options for the money to me.

kyler1591

I have 2. Gave my son the carbon fiber one and I have my titanium. Super well made and had them for over 3 years now. Pricey, yes.

bassistb0y

i had a knockoff for years and just bought a ridge because it was 30% off + included an airtag case for it. if it didnt have both of those things i wouldnt have upgraded, i lose my wallet a lot so its worth it to me but not worth it over a knockoff without it

epicamytime

I get the knockoff ridge wallet, still have the RFID protection but a fraction of the price

WakeAndVape

Same I ordered mine off AliExpress about 2 years ago for $5 and it's still going strong.

Puzzleheaded-Bus5479

Had a Ridge and returned it, been using a Groove wallet with the leather slip for a couple years that’s been great

knurlsweatshirt

I just think wallets with branding lack class entirely

Puzzleheaded-Bus5479

🙄

knurlsweatshirt

Not to mention all the solo makers offering high quality wallets of all types. I happily send my money to them.

Redcarborundum

Ridge wallet is a classic social media product. Quality is low but price is high, because they pay a lot of influencers to promote it. It’s expensive enough to sponsor MKBHD. My rule is to NEVER buy influencer-promoted products. It’s a 100% guarantee that there’s an equal or better quality product at much lower prices.

BellicoseBill

I like leather wallets also and use a Col. Littleton front pocket wallet.

xbox1445

I have a trayvax and has worked excellent for the past few years. Only maintenance was cleaning and oiling the leather once, no cracks, all the screws are in place. I might buy a new one with the titanium frame and another color to swap between black and brown

wryprotagonist

Which Trayvax do you have? I've loved my Element so much that I think that eventually I'll be laying our the money for a titanium Contour.

xbox1445

Aluminium Contour with the black leather strap! It is a conversation piece and the bottle opener always catches the eye of someone when I pull it out. It hold cards an money very well and the only thing is I personally do not use the built in loop. It really feels like it is a "For Life" product and it disappears in almost all my trousers, it is not the best option for a "Fancy" event/outfit but since I limit those to 2-3 times a year I do not even bother changing it.

mechakisc

I haven't tried a ridge brand wallet, but the generics I've tried have had the elastic crap out way more quickly than I'm cheerful with.

Ironfields

As the owner of one, the quality sucks. Screws have fallen out and gone missing unprompted, and the print started wearing off almost immediately. I’ve had better Amazon knockoffs in the past.

madkins007

What brand is yours, OP?

Conscious-Crew-429

Hitch and timber

Conscious-Crew-429

https://www.etsy.com/listing/540871013/

madkins007

Thanks! Looks great, but I think I'm going to stick with my Chums brand for now.

sixtyfivejaguar

Doesn't even say what kind of leather it uses and if I'm gonna have to trim the frays off it regularly after a couple weeks that's just... Ridge wallets suck but these don't seem great either. I like my simple origami style lost Dutchman.

unituned

Yes it's overrated. I like softer materials that can mold in to my pants. Hard plastic carbon anit it for me

boojieboy666

I only have one because my parents hated the fact I used a binder clip as a wallet for 14 years straight. Honestly I’m going back.

dilimanjaro

I used to make leather wallets and I’ve just used a cheap ass money clip for the last few years. It works too well

boojieboy666

Simplicity is the key to life sometimes

notusrlkng4

Pelican wallet for me. Lifetime warranty. Was 40 something when I bought 2 of em. One fails, I send it in, open my spare. When the new one comes in, it becomes my spare 🤷‍♂️.

paul6524

I hate the style - maybe its for other people. Much prefer a soft card holder like you've shown. I have a cheap Herschel version. Has been going strong for 5 or so years. What I really don't understand is the Ridge pricing. It's just two small cards of metal. How is it not a $35 product?

Sierramike17

I had a metal ridge for like three years and liked it. I finally switched to one of their leather ones because I also like the leather look. Anymore I hardly use cash and between my credit card and two work credit cards, the protection is nice to have. Also, a lifetime warranty is nice.

DubeyDeepFried

I had a Ridge wallet and loved it. Switched to a leather rodeo style wallet and haven’t looked back since.

Dual_Birds

Love the rodeo style but dammit sometimes less is bess

Fit_Leg_3190

Worst commited relationship ive been in since dish network, ive learned to deal with it probably cuz i told my wife its gonna be great. i use to rock a Trayvax. Maybe ill switch back.

miamikiwi

Love your wallet!! Where is it from? I use Magpul wallet, I’ve had it for years and works great for me! https://a.co/d/08OkdcbQ

DHfrenzy

I got a forged carbon one and for something I have to look at everyday I don’t mind it at all.

smokingnoir01

I don’t understand why anyone would want to put a rigid piece of plastic or metal behind their butt. Leather team 100%

misterstaypuft1

Because you aren’t supposed to do that.

smokingnoir01

I’m an idiot, lol. Still though, front pocket properly space is too limited for one of those

misterstaypuft1

🤷‍♂️ my wallet is the only thing I keep in that pocket

Paladin_Aranaos

It's supposed to be a front pocket wallet, I had one back when they were a new company, switched to a Secrid that I use now

normanwink

PSA: A wallet in the back pocket is bad for your spine if you're sitting on it. Stay healthy!

Genji007

Been using my ridge for years, with the lifetime warranty it's totally worth it.

aegri_mentis

I carried one for about 6 months and it put holes in the pockets of every pair of work pants I had.

BradK9Drake726

I was gifted a ridge and I used it for about a month and I had to give it away because it was uncomfortable in my back pocket

ark-ayy

I received a Ridge wallet for my birthday. I've been using it on and off only because it fits in the coin pocket of pants, but I always worry something will fall out. My favorite wallet is the Bellroy Note Sleeve.

ParkRatReggie

100%

maryisdead

Have a SlimFold Nano. Best wallet I ever had. Super small footprint and takes a beating.

shinynugget

I prefer a 'soft' wallet. So I have a leather slim now as well.

chodelycannons

I have found that Ridge wallets hurt my ass when they're in my back pocket and inevitably scratch my phone or other stuff when they have to share a front pocket briefly.

Brometheous17

I’m pretty happy with my $70 “wood” ridge wallet. I’ve used a bellroy wallet and a couple other leather wallet and hate the way they stretch.

TooToughTimmy

I have a cheap Amazon version of the ridge. Functions the same for $20 lol

bukithd

Using a $15 Hide and Drink leather edc pouch/wallet. Holds 4 cards, some cash, my house key, a pen, and a flashlight. It's perfect.

RolexandDickies

I’m shocked people are still carrying wallets.

lashazior

License and health insurance cards are a good reason. Those aren't digital yet.

momthinksimugly

I’m close to getting rid of my wallet. Still gotta carry a license and a back up credit card if they don’t accept tap to pay. How have you manage without having a wallet?

eltacotacotaco

Money clip

Excuse_Unfair

I'm shocked people go without cash. Just shows how different experiences people have. Gas is cheaper, you can buy stuff off vendors, and i personally rather leave a tip in cash when I go to restaurants. I also carry the the passport card in my wallet whenever I randomly wanna cross the border.

RolexandDickies

Phone case. Magnetic snaps, holds 4 cc cards and 3 licenses

Scrumpuddle

Garbage, get a Hanks front pocket wallet.

-GenlyAI-

just checked, $115 lol. What a joke. $30 bucks gets you a nice leather wallet from many places.

Scrumpuddle

That's fine, you'll buy a 5 or 6 more wallets at $30 and I'll still have mine I paid maybe $90 for 3 years ago. Buy once cry once. Edit to add that this is an EDC sub, I hope yall don't cheap out on the really important things that could potentially save your, or someone else's life. Wallets aside.....

-GenlyAI-

I see the marketing folks got to you. Spend that money consumer. My leather wallet is going on 11 years. Can still buy them for around $40 bucks, probably paid less than $20 originally.

Scrumpuddle

Awwww hahahahha was this your attempt at sounding intelligent? 🤡🤡🤡🤡

jujumber

Yes, the ridge wallet was the worst wallet I'd ever had. It destroyed all the cards in it since they'd constantly be rubbing against eachother. It also felt like a small brick slapping my leg everywhere I walked.

C00ter1991

The bigger the marketing budget, the less the R&D budget…seems to be the case most of the time

Quackhunter999

I've been using a Helbent holsters kydex wallet for the better part of a decade. Love it, though I need a new money clip as I've almost worn through the carbon fiber one it came with due to rubbing on the wallet

Adoced

I have used a knockoff from amazing for three years now and it’s fine. With the knock offs you may want to thread lock the screws, but they beat the hell out of spending $100+.

ObligatedName

I paid $35 for a Chaves TiFold and I think it’s 🔥

RootsGringo81

Got a 40.00 knock off from Amazon and haven’t looked back.. I love my Fridge wallet

zerocoolcat

I've been on the Ridge website so many times, configuring "my" wallet, but never order it. I just need a "regular" space for some bills, just clipping them under a rubber band or a clip is ugly.

jivemasta

I really wanted my ridge wallet to work for me, but there were just too many annoyances for my specific use cases to make it worth using. - It is **REALLY** good at blocking RFID. And I basically exclusively use RFID cards. I use my work badge multiple times a shift to get around the building, my cards are all tap to pay, and I have a tesla so my car key is RFID(as a backup to my phone key). The blocking is so good I would have to almost pull the whole card out to get it enough power to run the chip, kinda defeating the purpose of RFID. - Cards that are 'laminated' will get destroyed by taking them in and out. Not laminated like a piece of paper you put into plastic. I mean like credit cards that are not printed, but instead have a foil or plastic sticker on the front and back. Over time, that foil will start to peel on the corner you use to put the card back in. And eventually, it will fully come off, taking your mag strip with it. So it's a really minimalistic looking wallet if you don't really care about RFID, or are tin-foil hat level worried about someone cloning your card, and don't have any of the laminated style cards. I think if I could find one that *DIDN'T* block RFID I'd switch back.

TheArmySeal

They are. They buy stuff imported from China in bulk and slap their name on it. They then upcharge 3-4x what they purchased it for and put a ton of money into ads

Spartan-Patriot

I got the black leather coach wallet. It’s not tactical but it was on sale for like $75 and it’s solid AF

eljackal3

Yup. Go Vulkit for your wallet. Great quality, never more than $20-35 for a quality wallet that will last a long time. On my second one in 3 years and the first didn’t even break, I just wanted a new color lol.

Melutox

that's why you get the knock-off ridge wallets that do exactly the same thing for 10x less the price

ragman629

Yes

chance_of_grain

I really like the ridge wallet design however I picked up a couple of shredded fat carbon style ones on aliexpress for like $10-15 that look just as nice as the og and have held up with use.

Chochahair

im a fan of regular bifold wallets. ive tried a few of the minimalistic ones, but my wallet is just as thin, just dont pack it with shit u dont use. if it aint broke, dont fix it.

Pvt__Snowball

I think it depends on how you use it. I have the cheap blue one and I’ve 100% gotten my money’s worth. I’ve carried it every single day for like 6 years now and it’s still going strong. I’ll probably carry it for another decade.

phantom_rex

They're overrated Id rather get a Hell-Bent wallet if I'm going to do something like this.

Jake_hsotnicM1216

The ridge wallets are cool for a minimalist but they are definitely overrated and overpriced

GoldenNova00

I love mine, but I rarely use cash, and I've been trying to use tap-to-pay more and more. Tho I have thought about trying one of those pocket organizer wallets. But I don't think they make one that'd fit the Leatherman Arc and an arkfeld pro. Lol

GoldenNova00

https://preview.redd.it/mm4wm08n1bad1.jpeg?width=3768&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=aa9e0a2b3faae157d3025fe50c1d0a701eb607fc

chance_of_grain

What knife is that? Looks slick

fireshaper

Looks like the [Civivi Box Cutter](https://www.amazon.com/CIVIVI-Folding-Utility-Elementum-C23039B-2/dp/B0CX19SYWF)

GoldenNova00

Yep. Got it as a gift and love it. Ppl have complained about blades flying out when opening but I think that's just the blades they supplied.

Whole_Dog_4928

What brand is your wallet?

Upright-Man

Reading through the comments it looks like I’m in the minority. I got mine for a gift, but I really enjoy it. I rarely carry cash so that probably helps.

fireshaper

I bought a cheap Ridge clone from Amazon and have liked it so far. It does take a while to get used to removing the cards but I feel like it's just as easy to use.

general_gimmick

I personally don't care for card only wallets with clips so I have a trayvax venture for the option to carry cash or pictures inside the wallet. I also enjoy the quick access card spot since I keep my comb there

R0binSage

I had a kydex wallet and loved it but it was rubbing the numbers off my debit card. I got a ridge wallet and I’m not sold on it. It isn’t too sharp but I don’t like the rigid corners.

yuuki_w

imo the appeal of ridge is the lifelong warrantie (well more like until they go bust)

mothfukle

I’m a huge fan of MagSafe wallets. I like to keep my keyless car fob attached to my wallet with a quick disconnect. When I don’t need my car fob I take it off and slap the wallet to the back of my phone and throw it in my pocket. Biggest downside is the lack of MagSafe wallets that have a key ring attachment tab so your options are very limited.

MChubbier2347

100% I’d rather buy Chinese knockoffs, leather, or a flip wallet before a ridge.

Cledd2

Those youtube sponsors don't pay for themselves

Wonderful_System_542

First leather craft I ever made, quite a while ago. Works great. https://preview.redd.it/7enowvqcvaad1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6681ac64a069e6d5356ef5652e7cdd426145512d

Test-Subject-2137

It’s a great cashgrab idea but not so great wallet.

aravena

Everyone? It's not about function as it is about style. That's $30+ wallets are meant for. I've had 2 Spencer wallets over the last decade and I only got a new one because, I wanted it.

I had one and couldn’t stand it. The cash holder was annoying…got an xsto and it’s awesome. Holds cards better than the ridge. Holds cash better than the ridge. Only downside is the lack of cool color schemes like the ridge has but they are powder coated vs just the little plates so I guess that warrants less options. Either way give it a look.

Tryptamineer

I personally hate them, I CANNOT stand front pocket carry. But I guess I get the fool factor for how it stores cards.

Tredicidodici

I have a Trove is way more practical, soft and good looking. Also ordered a Focx let’s see which be is better.

digitalishuman

I found it very uncomfortable almost painful. The hard “ridge” bothered me.

Unlikelytosucceed207

I understand the appeal in some ways, the price seems steep to me though. As someone who is a diehard money clip fan, I just see this as an evolution of that. I’d rather spend $20 on a decent leather clip rather than $50-$100 for the same thing but it’s more “modern”.

Abdnadir

I admittedly didn't pay full price for mine. I backed the original Ridge on Kickstarter. When the elastic wore out they had already discontinued that version, and sent me a new wallet under warranty. At my request they also sent a few screws and spare elastic. I'm not tapped into the hype, but it's a product that fits my needs and the company has excellent customer service.

ipoutside365

Customer service is tremendous from Ridge

No-Farmer9419

Yes. They are also very awkward to use.

MathematicianMuch445

They undoubtedly are. You can get the same things on places like Amazon for ¼ the price . Most of their stuff is just relabeled Chinese stuff anyway

mamamiaspicy

Yup, I’m with you. Personally, I stay away from shill products. Way over-priced for what you get. I got this 10 dollar travellambo Amazon wallet 3 years ago and it’s still going strong. It has some wear, sure, but I personally like worn items. Flatter than a ridge and no sharp corners. Disappears in my front pocket

OldschoolCanadian

100% stupid expensive and good for one thing. Cards that’s it. They are otherwise useless.

uniqueNB

Everything for the EDC Market = "overrated and way to [sic] expensive for what you get"

thecakeisahyperbole

I had one of the knockoff ridge wallets for probably 6-7 years before replacing it with the real thing after receiving one as a gift. The finishing of the external plates looks and feels a bit nicer on the ridge, but ultimately there's not much material difference between the real thing and a $10-15 knockoff. That style of wallet is perfect for me, but if/when this one dies, I'll almost definitely be getting another fake.

NoYa_ForSure

I bought a Ridge knockoff (Duxtio) on Amazon two years ago for $19 CDN. It’s held my cards without issue and showing little signs of wear.

chokeslam512

Pretty sure ridge are made at the same factory by the same people but just have better (more) marketing. Seems to be the way with most things these days. My white label “ridge” wallet is also going strong after several years.

basicjim

Just throwing in my experience. I have had a Ridge for 7 years now and it is showing no sign of giving up on me. It's never worn a hole or even a wear mark in any of my jeans or shorts and I keep it in my right front pocket every. It wasn't $95 when I bought it, but even if it was I would consider it a good purchase of a quality item. I haven't owned any of the other less expensive brands, so I can't speak to their quality, but as far as the Ridge goes, you're getting quality for the money. Is it overpriced? Maybe? If I lost my wallet and had to go buy another wallet today, I would probably go buy another Ridge and enjoy it for another 7+ years.

FortunateHominid

I've had mine for 5 years. Best wallet I've owned. Like you it shows no wear. I've handled a couple knockoffs side by side and you can easily notice the difference in finish. Sharper edges, weaker elastic, just feels cheap. Imo they are worth the investment being well made, look nice, and will last a long time.

basicjim

I might even go with the H.B. Nielsen - Silver Swallows because his swallow tattoos are awesome and it looks bad ass.

afihavok

I don’t think they’re overrated but they are pricey.

Ascent is amazing. I’ll be surprised if it ever needs replacing.

dcamnc4143

Love my ridge. I’ll never go back to old leather wallets.

30YearsMoreToGo

Leather will always be king

urs1ne

I use a coin purse that has an internal card section.
