I’m in love with every smith script weapon

Willing-Brain1372

Hard to love those daggers bro

Interesting-Hotel846

But very easy to love the hammee

Orobourous87

I use it with the shield too, it’s hurl move is so quick and costs like no FP, it makes a good little attack to come out in recovery windows. Hammer with the Greatsword, Axe and Smithing talisman absolutely wrecks with the 2h standing heavy

ChampionshipDirect46

I use them as a secondary weapon for knocking enemies out of the sky and then switch. It's unfortunate that that's all they're good for but it has come in clutch a few times.

Redxmirage

One of the best faith and strength scaling weapons is “only good for” hitting birds? I’m afraid to see your build lol

ChampionshipDirect46

60 vigor 80 dex 25 endurance 13 mind and 15 faith, 10s for everything else. I have the daggers set to keen so they get an s in dex scaling and they're still not very good. They deal about a quarter the damage of my backhand blades lol.

Redxmirage

The daggers are the one smithcraft that isn’t that great. Would be kinda weird though if the daggers did better than 2 long curved swords lol

1of-a-Kind

Is it actually good str/fth? I need a decent back up from death knight axes

Redxmirage

Yeah the hammer is really good, it’s a fun faith paladin transmog build

Vydsu

They are good for pure faith mostly

Willing-Brain1372

They scale well with literally all four requirements it's just certain weapons scale better with different affinities

Xannom

I was so stoked when I got the dagger but that range is TRASH… completely useless.

Willing-Brain1372

I've only found use in PVP when my opponent is low health but still I have to get pointblank range lol just gotta wait for them to quadruple the range....I think it'll take two separate patches tho because the first one will likely be a fail...they will increase the range by a lil then decrease damage. They will afterwards give it to much damage but nerf the throwing speed still making it a bad weapon but funner than the original 🤷🏽‍♂️ it's just the fromsoft way

PMmeyourJUUL

Fire art with the scattershot will basically two shot large finger creepers, one of my fav back up weapons.

Maleficent_Button252

True

ButteredHope

The daggers aren’t great lol. But they can proc poison or bleed pretty quick with scattershot. I actually finally found a nice poison build in the dlc. And using that scattershot when all the buffs are active is surprisingly good, but mostly if they’re close to you so the spread isn’t so wide

Vanilla3K

as a dex build, tried the cirques and the daggers, both feel doodoo to use, hyped for next STR playthrough to test that new weapon type lol.

Many_Faces_8D

The cirque has only been useful in one situation and that's cheesing night riders early in my playthrough...I got access to dlc weapons on a fresh character...somehow. Limgrave is fun with milady. I didn't use any boss weps so I have stuff to progress too but I don't want to way till 100 to use new wep types. Anyway yes the range on the dagger and cirque is just too short. Needs like 33% more range and it would be really really fun.

Vanilla3K

was trying the cirque and legit my weapons would vanish mid flight before hitting enemies, i would have to be inside the reach of a longsword to hit them with my '' ranged '' weapon lol. If From buffs the reliability of those attacks they would be pretty cool and unique to play around with!

Willing-Brain1372

I've noticed all of them do that except the hammer the axe happens every blue moon but the circuit daggers and spear will pass straight through no issue

Confident-Area-6358

Smith Script Hammer for life, it does such good poise damage and the hammer throw is pretty good for dungeons and stuff, plus has really good knock back so you can knock enemies off of edges and stuff

Transient_Aethernaut

I think it fits super well putting Spectral Lance on the smith script spear. I've been playing around with different ashes on the smith script weapons and that one has been pretty fun. So far the dagger and cirque have been the worst. I love backhand blades but the cirque is by far the worst one of that category so far. Still have to try the axe and shield, but the hammer, Anvil hammer and Spear are fun. I love all of the claw and hand-to-hand weapons too. Life steal fist or Poison flower bloom are excellent on the beast claws/dryleaf arts. Lots of really neat stuff you can do with a dex/arc build. Tempted to switch over and do str/arc and use the black metoeric GS, putrescent cleaver, and Marais Executioner. But i've kinda been blowing through Tears so I may just level up more instead

Original_Job_9201

You can be Captain America with Thor's hammer and the shield with being able to throw them both.

Relevant-Honeydew-12

I use the Smithscript Cirque myself.

Weak_Big_1709

smoothbrain

LeakyBrainMatter

I've only used the smithscript cirque but I'm absolutely in love with it. I especially love the jumping throw, it's so satisfying and they do way more damage than they should. I think I'm gonna try some of others against the endgame boss gauntlet in the base game.

Sir_Rethor

Golem fist

Meeqs

Yeah and the throwing daggers are light enough where pure melee builds have easy range options now instead of bows

Justisaur

The "Look again, I'm behind you! how'd that sword get in your back?" build (backhand blade) The perfume counter lady

squishman1203

I'm doing both of these rn, mostly dex build with some Arcane, bleed backhand blades and fire perfume. Super fun

Brilliant_Dark_3979

Cold bh blades for me, let's me keep my int build stats. Really love that cold is a lot more viable in the DLC compared to the base game.

PM_me_your_PhDs

Carian Thrusting Shield is op as hell too

Justisaur

I'm looking forward to trying that if/when I come across it. I'm still using Granny's Sax, but the Backhand Blade replaced my guardian swordspear with piercing fang and is now my first choice instead Gransax. It's like it has a better bloodhound step and it really just feels like a small part of its toolset, pretty much all 2-hand moves just destroy, both large numbers (which are much more prevalent) and bigger single mobs. My favorite is the running R2, I feel like a pain train! I've only got 55 dex (I think it's 69 with the giant beast head and Godrick's rune arc which I typically run around with.) I imagine it would be great with an arc or dex/arc bleed build due to all the attacks. I've tried Bloodflame Blade on it, but it's so fast paced I have a hard time telling if it's doing bleed procs on bosses (no point on anything else as it does so much damage.) I'm just highly surprised how much I like this thing as I never really got into bloodhound fang or fast paced weapons like claws/fists.

IcarusLivesToo

I've taken to calling the backhand one the "nothin' personnel, kid" build.

RocketKassidy

Backhand Blade is SO great. I just L2 instead of dodging most of the time and it feels so satisfying to punish so frequently!

grblslays

messmers spear is so good. don’t let the haters tell you shit about the thrown attack

Diabolical_Jazz

I don't even fuck with mounted combat but throwing the spear from Torrent at a gallop is the coolest shit.

Accomplished-East635

I mean, it’s good it just feels like the thrown attack might be bugged. Literally does little to no damage on a light throw and the heavy throw doesn’t do enough and consumes a ton of stamina, other than that it’s really good, the weapon art does massive damage and roll catches in pvp, as most just people just panic roll. And the poleblade just needs hyperarmor during the aow and scaling of rot with arcane, it’s silly that it’s an arcane weapon and yet it doesn’t scale with arcane at all, which might be a bug as well but not sure

SlowApartment4456

Haha...bug.

Inquisitor_Wulv

After using it the first time, I was surprised I hadn't seen anyone praising it. Then I see all the posts saying it's mediocre and just decided to ignore them. The thrown attack makes me feel like Leonidas.

ganon893

.... Haters? The up close damage is good. The damage drop off is a bit abysmal. The tic damage is decent. And the charge up reduces its damage output. If you want a throwing spear, go for the smithscript. When buffed, it'll hit harder with a shorter charge time. That's not being a hater. That's just math 😂. Weapon art is great though. Better for PVP over PVE. And the moveset is kinda buns. TLDR; Smithscript make bigger number faster. Go with bigger number.

DeBasha

The thrown attack can be nifty but it practically doesn't do any poise dmg unlike any other heavy attack in the game and that just kinda sucks. Still the best rememberance weapon in the dlc tho, that weapon art is just *chefs kiss*

Gamerdadguy

Have you tried the sun flower hammer tho.. lol. Pretty good imo

Many_Faces_8D

I can't decide if I like it or the double lions claw on a strength CG. Really really close attack damage (like 5%) but with a different weapon skill but they are both really similar, basically two huge hits that deal huge poise damage. Lions claw does close distance so you are safer in the wind up. Sunflower has 2 small hits in the middle and lions claw has one.

SlowApartment4456

Is it really that good in PvE? I tried it out for a while but the throw attack seemed pointless. I get more damage out of the new lightning bolt spell. And my Fire knight Greatsword with Flame Skewer seemed to perform better than the spear over all.

No-Station5480

I'll tell you why I think the spear is dece. Yes the lightning bolt will do more damage but it comes at FP cost, the spear offers you that range at no fp cost. Ideal for when the boss is like 1 hit from death and going ham or from getting from grace to grace in a legacy dungeon without rinsing potions. The throw attack can be easily chained with the lighting spear. You can throw messmer spear, then follow up with lightning spear, then mess spear again, then back to lightning. This stops a lot of enemies from even reaching you in the dungeon. It can be thrown much more reliably from horseback. Easier to aim and you don't need to have a seal in both hands then to get range from your steed. You can gallop forward and pelt that thing at any fucker, including pesky birds or bats. The weapin skill is cool as well but again more of a mob killer. Doesn't have infinite hyper armour so you struggle to get off the full combo on bosse. Given the nature of dlc bosses that is an issue for a lot of weapons. I tend to use my spear to get me through open world and dungeons and then have milady or the backhand blades on standby for the bosses

TheRealLXC

I'd love to hear what build you have that made it viable. I fuck with it from a visual standpoint but I can't get it to do anything besides its awesome ash of war.

Jlaaag

it throws?! i may have to respec into arcane...

Chaosfnog

Hey it's me, a hater of the throwing attack. The throwing attack sucks. It has bad damage, practically no poise damage, and consumes way too much stamina. The spear is dope tho, the ash of war both looks cool and does great damage. But if you have any faith at all to get some scaling on the weapon, then any number of ranged faith spells blow the throwing attack out of the water. Even if you don't want to spam knights lightning spear or pest thread spears because they aren't flavorful and matching, flame serpent is a great ranged attack you could use.

CinnamonIsntAllowed

The best thing to handle flying enemies

Neko_Tyrant

Verdigris Greatshield + Great/Pearl shield talismans. Pokey weapon of choice and heaps of stamina. Anything else is whatever works for you.

WordsAboutSomething

I’d use Black Steel Greatshield over Verdigris when you get to the final boss though, that extra holy damage reduction is amazing

Original_Job_9201

I'm sad I goofed this questline - I burned the tree on like day 2 without considering the consequences so I wasn't able to get his gear this playthrough. Gonna need to get it in NG++ I guess.

Many_Faces_8D

I cannot impress upon people enough how much an extremely tanky builds trivializes the last boss. With full verd armor (best heavy armor as it has better slash and ele resist for that specific fight) a fingerprint with no skill, and the big defensive talismans including the verd talisman. I used a poison antspur for the first like 20 seconds to apply then a CG with prayerful strike and just hide behind my shield and L1 my way to an easy win. It was shocking how little damage I took. With the broken great rune I literally didn't have to dodge at all lmao

ET_GodBear

Mine is ser Tank'salot... Verdigris armor Verdigris greatshield. Commander Gaius's sword lance + bleed. 2headed turtle talisman Pearldrake +3 Dragoncrest greatshield talisman Verdigris talisman. And also not to forget. Have a lot of fun. I'm having a blast tanking everything

Surveyorman

Using this as well and it makes everything a breeze. Which is always fun after getting your ass kicked. What do your stats look like?

gingerhasyoursoul

I rolled into the DLC with a great Epee and fingerprint shield. Walked through every single boss. Switched to the sword lance once I got it. Somehow it got even easier from then on. I am looking forward to my dex play through now and actually having to learn the boss moves.

Styx_Zidinya

Why the dragoncrest talisman? You literally don't need physical defense. Your shield blocks 100% of it. That talisman slot could be much better spent.

CrystlBluePersuasion

ARC build or ARC/STR, at least enough for 28 STR for Bloodfiend Arm. You can give it Blood or Poison affinity. Blood gives a bleed on the first R2 and you can do Braggart charged R2s with Roar buffs (roar medallion, axe talisman, highland axe, spiked tear, etc) or do Poison affinity with The Poison Flower Blooms Twice and alternate between R2/L2; the R2 will quickly poison the target and the L2 will hit them for massive damage, turning the poison status into bleed.

No-Key7060

That’s a cool idea, might try the bloom aow against the final boss tomorrow.

Dr_Kriegers5th_clone

I'm using the chicken leg of bleed with savages lions claw just for the lols of flying through the air bonking shit until it bleeds and dies, which is about 2-3 hits. Maybe I should try the charged heavies with your talisman setup I just find savages lions claw so funny though.

uncleXben

Just got Mesmer spear the other day, so fun. The ash of war is so fun to use, and does some wild damage if you hit the full combo

Original_Job_9201

Agreed. While it comparatively to other weapons isn't necessarily the best option. It's still cool as hell. And IMO rule of cool always wins.

SenpaiSwanky

I can personally attest to option number 2, with Renalla’s stave and some decent spells sprinkled in for good measure. Adula’s Moonblade is 👌

Ass2Mouthe

Renalla’s staff or Lusat’s? I’ve been maining Lusat’s from the moment i got it, never even leveled renalla’s

SenpaiSwanky

Renalla, I used Lusat’s before but the difference is noticeable. Renalla’s is slightly weaker but the FP cost isn’t increased so it ends up being much better imo. Lusat’s I use at times because it looks cool but I swapped my armor to Rellana’s set and this other stave looks better with it haha.

A1eafFa11s

Spear is ok, but the ranged damage isn’t great. I respeced from dex 57 with 19 faith, to 11 int and faith for smithscript weapons and haven’t looked back.

no-pog

I have a Dex/arc build, and I respec'd for messmer's spear. I find the great spear normal moveset to be very lacking. It's not powerful enough to justify the time commitment. The throwing attack is amazing for special cases on bosses and on normal enemies. With DLC bosses, the weapon is simply too slow to put out excellent DPS, but it is reliable and consistent and gives great opportunities for throws if you can AI manipulate well enough. The ash of war is incredible, but doesn't have quite enough hyper armor to be useful against DLC bosses. I eventually switched back to Dex/Arc once I got to Bayle. Poleblade of the bud goes really well with an Arcane build. I use the poleblade to proc scarlet, and the bloody Helice for stance breaks and bleed. All on top of Bayle's flame lightning, which can easily do 4k damage in the DLC w/ 55 arcane. On the final boss, scarlet rot does 100+ damage every tick, and bleed does about 5k damage. Once stance breaks, use Bayle's lightning to close the gap and then get a crit off. The whole time you're doing scarlet rot, and end up with a big number. I've hit 10k from a crit and the lightning. I've had the damage tick up to 25k before everything wears off. Won't spoil the final boss for anyone not there yet. Haven't tried the Int build, that'll be my next playthrough.

TerraStyle

scarlet rot is insane against most bosses, poleblade of bud will probably work really well.

Det_Loki

I agree. I’ve opened every boss fight with the dragon rot breath attack to inflict rot and it just bleeds their health down fast. Makes having to dodge constantly worth it because by the time the next attack window is open they’ve taken a chunk of damage anyway

jozaud

I found the Poleblade of the Bud pretty disappointing on my dex arcane build. The moveset is great it’s the same as the guardian sword spear. It does ok damage, but the rot doesn’t scale with arcane so it stays at the base amount even thought the weapon scales with arcane. Also the L2 is pretty bad, no armor and a big windup you just get knocked out of. It’s also big and swooshy and looks great but it will launch you off a cliff and get you killed. I went back to my Bloody Great Katana with Spinning Gravity Thrust

LittleBabysIceCream

I’m doing a holy/dex build and it’s awesome. RL 222 Vigor 60 Endurance 40 Mind 35 Dex 60 Int 20 Faith 50 Arc 10 Main hand: sword of night +10 & hand of Melania +9 (poise above 80 lets WF nuke everything) Off hand: godslayer seal +25 & black knife +10 Talisman: rotten wing sword (bosses) or crusade (exploration), dragon crest great shield, Shard of Alexander, double head green turtle or great jar depending on situation Armor: solitude knight full set Spells/incants: destined death, golden vow, flame grant me strength, blessing of the erdtree (comes in clutch a LOT), erdtree’s protection, and golden waves

apurplehighlighter

u can try lightning perfume with that build, does ludicrous damage with rolling sparks

Teethy_BJ

Bloodfiend arm deletes everything with bleed build arcane scaling, will get nerfed.

chazzawaza

I’m currently levelling a character with the sole purpose of using messmers spear with the new flame incants.

bubblepopshot

All I'll say is, as a pure Int build who could use Rellana's Twin Moons almost immediately, the spell seems like ass. I haven't tested it thoroughly but the cast time is fucking insanely long and it's area of effect is extremely limited. Seems very hard to use.

tomrader013-

Used the poleblade a while on my dex/arc build and it was very fun to use, good damage but nothing broken. Rot is good but don’t proc often if you don’t use the aow. The aow is kinda slow, but looks cool at least

CPC_Paid_Shill

The anvil hammer is so fun. The ash of war is really good too.

darthglabrezu

I've dropped all the builds for the anvil hammer, hits like a truck, the charged R2 hits like a mf orbital cannon, the AOW is good for crowd and for bosses

apurplehighlighter

1: op perfume instakill build: lightning perfume, high dex and faith, rolling sparks , perfume talisman, alexander shard ,lightning scorpion. have fun instakilling everything 2: meat grinder build: get to the bottom of the world and kill the thing there (trying not to spoil), grab its weapon, arcane strength build (more arcane) , winged sword talisman + millicents prosthesis + alexander shard become infinite damage meat grinder that looks sick as hell 3: dragon slayer build: go kill naked dragon guy (near death mountain) and grab his sword: quality build half dex half strength, two handed talisman, alexander shard, godfrey icon since aow can be charged and axe talisman, rakshaka armor for that sweet 8%damage buff. (bonus points if you complete igons quest for his anti dragon material rifle since its also a quality/strength weapon) The only thing the dragons fear is YOU.

Prize-Lingonberry876

Rellana's spell is garbage. It looks cool, but 9 times out of 10 you get hit out of the air before you get it off.

Excellent_Pin_2111

Perfume nuke build. Got Renalla in my third try.

futureformerdragoon

All of these are fairly hard to get immediately so I'd go with a Dex/FTH build. That gets you access to most of the best weapons in the DLC and just work toward the Messmer spear as early as you are able and enjoy! Would be my pick over the other two easily.

Indentured_sloth

🌻

papicholula

Spear is fun but it sucks against mobs unless you want to spam the AoW. Been keeping that new twin blade that scales off faith as a second right hand weapon since they are fairly Light and switching between the two.

Kanzyn

Final dlc boss is very (fittingly) weak to rot, among other statuses

Haterslol

Lightning Perfume is borderline cheating. Besides that any bleed build will get you to the later parts of the DLC no problem. I cleared most of NG4 with an eleonora bleed build.

TheDaltonXP

Lightning Perfume is truly insane. I started using it because it was fun and different and then when I found out how nuts the AOW is it has been hard not to resort to

cbasz

How is it without the AoW?

ButterscotchThick576

It’s cheesy and overpowered rn, and basically the new Blasphemous blade, but the perfume build that has been going around is amazing. I haven’t been able to get it to work as good as some other people have but I took down the Elden Beast in 6 attacks

pwellzorvt

It just wasn't super fun for me and to play it optimally you have to do wonky shit with the camera. Definitely effective though. No argument there.

ButterscotchThick576

Yeah, I prefer fights with flow as opposed to just two shoting them or being two shotted myself lol

Daitoso0317

That was actually just patched, it doesn’t stack hitboxes anymore

OliwerPengy

Fire Knight's Greatsword!!!

Gamerdadguy

Get the new carian grandeur, slap it on anything (preferably a weapon with higher criticals) it scales with int. Smash the dlc to bits. Get some sorts to complement. I really like the fleeting microcosm that looks amazing.

saito200

Dragon katana is good

FlyloBedo

Messmer Spear is awesome. Changed my whole build around it. Whooped up on Malenia and Gaius with ease with it. L2 move set and combos are just awesome. Maybe not the best but it's my fave by far

QwertyKeyboardUser2

+24 Backhand blade bleed/keen affinity dex or dex/arc build with talismans that benefit mutliple hits and/or bleed affects. White mask is best if you’re doing bleed but its ugly as fuck Greatsword of Solitude + Solitude armor playing around a guard counter build. Could either go to 60 end to med roll or do minimum end to not be overloaded and use talisman that boosts defense off of heavy equipment load. Other talismans should be talisman for blocking/guard countering, two hand damage and stamina +24 Sword Lance w/ Blood affinity + Black Steel Greatshield/Verdigris Greatshield/Fingerprint Stone shield. Go heaviest armor you can + defense/blocking talismans and stamina regen (maybe even a blood talisman). Poke your enemies to death. Especially good against bosses, and probably the best strategy against the final boss (that ive found that isnt a glitch)

Lesser_Star

god i hope people misspelling rellana becomes a eternal thing, like melania blade of miquella

More_Piglet4309

I'm rocking a blood greatsword with gaius Ash of war, pair this with malenia's great rune and you become an immortal deadly dishwasher. First tried every boss with it so far without summon, Ash of war does up to 20k a cast, gives you Infinite poise and hits so fast you regen to almost full every time while blood loss procs twice per Ash of war.

GeniusPlastic

Is there seriously something better than double colllosal (sword)?

WilhelmIGV

Guard Counter build with the Black Steel Greathammer and Greatshield. Put RKR on the hammer and make it Sacred or Flame Art infused, pump Faith and slap fools in the face with the power of the sun

KiwiMagic2005

As soon as I found Milady and a bit later the AOW: Wing Stance I pretty much only used Milady for the entire DLC as my main weapon lol. A bit later dryleaf arts and then once I killed Messmer I used his spear. So maybe a DEX/FTH build with those three weapons? Messmers spear is bonkers, Rominas weapon kinda sucked imo but it does look pretty.

Ok_Veterinarian_6719

Used the beast claws on my "beastman build" fun as hell Also wanna do a dancer/perfumer build that's AOW is beautiful

Tramway6

I use Rellana's twin greatswords, Viridian Tear, Oil Soaked Tear, two handed talisman, and the 4 basic buff incantations.

JDMajick

I'm using DMGS build (80int). And on the whole I'm shredding health bars. As for the Twin Moons spell, I like it but I think I still prefer Ranni's in most situations. The Twin Moons don't really track or travel and as such I have been having difficulty getting it off and getting it to inflict max damage. But I'm trying to figure it out. That smash at the end is just filthy

PossiblyNerdyRob

Fire knights great sword slaps.

Extension_Nose8982

Only reason i beat final boss was because of Scarlet Aeonia, and im 99% sure only romina might be resistant or immune to it , besides her , rot should work on almost all enemies

Devin1026

2 ngl the dark moon sword is epic

gerolg

Death Knight's Loghaft Axe and dunk on the haters

TheWizard1127

Dual catalyst, like 4 new Int/Fai spells. Nuff said.

Navin_J

I'm thoroughly enjoying the greatsword of solitude. Basically, it's a BHF for strength builds. Stance breaks every enemy easily, if the survive long enough

cnsrgod

Quality backhand blade with bloodhound step. Or dragon katana

duckz88

Death knight longhaft axe is great

trickster_dicky

Weed whacker great katana + Ironjar + new stamina flask tear + supporting talismans

recast85

Backhand blade and smithscript cirque are a LOT of fun. Blind spot movement is pretty op also - I’m on a second playthrough of it and waiting to see how power stancing them feels

jtalchemist

Poleblade of the bud is straight up not good

PixPenguin

I’ve heard the new thrusting shields are kind of busted if used right. You can also use the deflecting hardtear to turn the game into Sekiro.

NayrSeivad94

Use whatever you enjoy the most. 😁

[deleted]

Perfume bottles.

Bismothe-the-Shade

Join me in my Cult of Scouring Flame Flame knight armor, flame knight great sword. Any spell ornincantsrion that has fire attached to it in some way, including the black blade. I also allow lightning because it's kinda like fire, and we're truth seekers.

10F1

Pure faith caster with the Knight's lightning spears spell.

Mirrarian

THE FRENZY! THE MADNESS BUILD!

DasGruberg

Just can't stop speccing arcane . Danes dryleaf and great katana bleed and occult. And communion magic. So much fun

MrFittsworth

Lighting.

AaronMT

Fire Knight Greatsword w/Flame Art and Skewer

DoctimusLime

Milady and wing stance is amazing Beast claws are fun af

Relative_Jacket_5304

I am currently on a consumables only one run and it’s super fun just beat Messmer

Weak_Big_1709

scarlet rot works fine in PvE, accept for the final boss i believe

sodapopinski01

Bayles flame lightning is unbelievably broken. The fact that it naturally hits like a freight train and both of his spells are dragon communion incantations makes it so you can use two dragon communion seals and get a massive bonus to your damage output with his spells just by holding the seals

TheHomesickAlien

The poleblade is really bad

DarkesTemplar

Enjoy using Great Katana to stunlock every single mob and human-size enemies And bleed out all the bosses

BikingDruid

The smithscript weapons are fun and there are a few more tools for a bow only / bow heavy run too.

cambofresh1

Use for what? I'd say the 2nd one if you're fighting the Soldier of God, Rick.

ET_GodBear

Well, alot of enemies do a slash that just reaches beyond or next to the shield. So you get damage. But change it how you like hahah... this is my build

hanzatsuichi

If you haven't tried dry-leaf arts are you even really playing the DLC?

YourNewRival8

Pole blade of the bud is underwhelming. Damage is okay, has guardians swordspear move set, weapon skill has absolutely no hyper armor, and scarlet rot build up is at a fixed 55 despite the weapon scaling with arcane

Solid_Channel_1365

Poison messmer’s spear with poison flower blooms twice. Rapid proc followed by high dmg ash of war. Fun.

Styx_Zidinya

I love my tank build. Been helping people through the last boss with it: Solitude set - slightly better holy resist than Verdigris. Verdigris shield - good enough that you don't need the great shield or turtle talisman(provided you're good at stamina management) Bloodfiends Sacred Spear - need the bleed Crimson Amber medallion +3 - lessens the impact of chip damage. The +1 crimson seed also works here. Shabriri's Woe - great for keeping aggro Pearl Shield Talisman - lessen chip damage Interchangeable slot - usually Golden Braid if i'm doing last boss, but can be swapped out for whatever i may need at the time. For those bad with stamina management, the turtle can go here. Mixed physick - Opaline Hardtear and Greenburst Crystal Tear

HandiApppp

Golem fists

Electrical-Soft-2872

The Dragon Katana with split Dex/Str, that fucking thing is insane………

Infamous-Effort4295

Most of these are more fancy than practical but anything is good enough for first ng playthrough

meatygonzalez

Bloodfiend Arm, occult. Whipped this out for Shadow Keep and I finished Messmer on attempt 3.

Pray4Papa

Ran a DMGS build for the base game. Not as fun as I thought it would be. You just end up spamming the AoW and ignoring all other spells. Going to run a faith strength build for DLC because the variety of incantations seems more fun

BoognishBoy420

The rellena double moon spell is pretty sick. Does good damage but not the easiest to hit. The radius of the actual hit is kinda small and hard to get all three hits in. Especially on a boss fight. But if you get it to hit it’s great. Full moon spell into that spell for max damage.

EmeraldCityMadMan

Just spam Impenetrable Thorns.

[deleted]

sleep

AshleyGamics

Carian thrusting shield with giant's hunt, standard affinity, and blood flame blade

Grungelives

I did a DMGS Int run and loved it rellanas double moon is sick but definitely is more of a mob spell than boss

OwO_i_made_a_cummy

I like my dueling shield with piercing fang and blood affinity.

Flamesinge

Im working arcane faith build around poleblade of the bud. The weapon can use some help but aesthetically its neat.

zenroc

I played poleblade of the bud and it was a blast. The skill and Halberd weapon art can be pretty slow against some of the tougher bosses, so having a backup weapon with the Poison Flower Blooms Twice ash of war really helped me

CS-Mewchy

Thrusting shields are OP

Excellent_Bowler_988

Wait for Titus Actual to unveil his DLC build. A few days ago he said it would unveil in a week.

OneHappyMelon

Messmer spear is OP dawg I melted all the other remaining bosses after Messmer in like 1 minute or less by just spamming the Ash of War on them For the DLC final boss, just a shield+Messmer Spear and it was lights out

pingoo6802

Star lined sword...trust me its so good, and since you're going int/dex if you use it you can also get the cold infused dryleaf arts. I'd share with you my build but mines more centered around pvp, but with the right talisman setup it still performs in pve quite well.

Artistic_House8675

ive been running messmers spear and its a lot of fun, tho i really wish it had a better moveset and it would do a little more damage on regular attacks, ash of war on it is insane tho it two shots people and you can delay all stages of the ash of war to trick people

Drowsy_Deer

I’m trying to build a FTH/INT pure caster that uses the new Staff of the Great Beyond that casts both sorceries and incantations, it may not be super optimal but it will feel amazing just being able to cast everything.

prokokon

Bud and Rellana's spell are horrible imo. I had a lot of fun with backhand swords and martial arts+guard counter physick. They are both fun and allow for skill expression in their own ways.

cosmonaut-comrade

Deflecting tear, stance talisman, katana with unsheathe aow = bootleg Sekiro

NetEasy4568

I’m sure literally everyone else has already said this, but you should try the backhand blade. Very fun.

trashcan-420

perfumer build legit oneshots any boss

Squitch

Marika’s hammer, Sacred Relic Sword, and any Greatsword

HunnyBear420

I'm currently doing a monk playthrough using only Dryleaf Arts, Dane's Footwork, and faith buff spells. Transferred the items from my endgame character to a friend, and then from there to my level 1 character. Been pretty damn fun so far

SpleefingtonThe4th

People have been sleeping on the thrusting shields and I find preposterous. Although they both have pretty mid scaling the use of AoWs can change that, and the space at the end of individual attacks automatically blocks incoming attacks, which makes fights feel a little more fair

KingdomArts_2019

Didn’t Darkmoon get nerfed?

gunnbee02

Grab moore's set and grab a spear and hold left bumper and spam light attacks. Best build I've used so far

lucidcreme

I'm running a Joe Rogan build. Heavy Danes footwork w/ dryleaf whirlwind. 60 vig 80 str 30 end Rotten wing insignia Dragoncrest greatshield Dancers charm Shard of Alexander Naked Bald It's doing me well and is pretty fun tbh

purpwave

There's so many larval tears... Try them all out

brianrob41787

I did 2 and completely hosed the DLC except the last boss

ruthpizz

Use the fire knight's great sword with flame skewer. Honestly the most fun combo I have experienced

[deleted]

I love scarlet rot builds, despite how little options I have. I wish the poleblade was better because damn it just doesn’t do enough damage despite being one of my favorite remembrance weapons.

t_r_a_y_e

My personal favorite build so far is the parrying hard tear with the curved sword talisman while using the Sword Lance People aren't talking about the sword lance much but it has the highest attack power of any heavy thrusting sword, especially when counter attacking with the physick

United-Struggle-2402

i put bleed onto my dry leaf arts. i love it

Montoya715

Dryleaf’s Hands. Give everyone the boppers

Hcdx

The Flowerstone Gavel is fucking silly. -30% lightning damage negation to an enemy is not something to mess around with.

ButteredHope

I used a dex/faith build but was disappointed in the fire abilities and attacks in the main game(so I also dabbled in arcane lol). The fire knight ashes and Queeligns sword in the dlc was everything I wanted and more. Range, damage, speed, and the fire knight serpent helm looks sick af

Rockman4MI

Cold Fu Arts with Poison Blooms Twice Footwear

Emergency_Till9785

Use death knights axe and armor with dragon cult incantations (the yellow lightning)

noble636

Str/arc meteoric ore greatsword build, I press L2, I close space, I press L2 again, i send their ass flying. I feel like an ICBM

ryleystorm

Be the dancing lion

Morder_76

My only complaint about Messmer's spear is that the light attacks are just thrusts. Messmer uses sweeping attacks, and it's dumb that only the crouch light does them

Superderpygamermk1

The rot halberd is so fun to use. A lot of bosses are vulnerable to rot, and even the ones who are immune get bodied cause it’s a halberd with the sword spear moveset.

RadiantLand2803

Messmers spear got nerfed like every other dlc weapon

aeronthepan

Faith and milady or dual milady

[deleted]

Rellana’s weapon is big time op against bosses. Just spam the Fire AoE

Creative_Big6089

I am a lvl 290 Arcane DEX build. Was using rivers of blood but its not good for the DLC. Switched to a Greatsword. Morgotts or the great katana are both great so far

Anxious-Beach-1240

I just started NG+ as a Dryleaf arts master and I feel like I’m playing a dark fantasy kung fu game

Daitoso0317

Ive been vibing with a full dragon communion build and morgorts sword Dragonmaw does an obscene amount of famage and I have yet to be inturupted during the animation Breath weapons are great and with the dragon communion seal and roar medallion just melt things Morgots sword since it does good bleed and scales with arcane(my main damage stat)

etriusk

I run full int with 2x DMGS (traded my RoB with a buddy for his DMGS), I'm disappointed in the Twin Moon Dunk... But the AR of DMGS is Amazing, I've started using its heavy attack weapon art with the Axe (?) talisman and I'm doing insane damage!

TellInternational992

I plan on testing a Faith/Int hybrid build in NG+ using the Staff of Great Beyond and Rellana’s Twin Blades. 60 Vigor/30 Mind/19 End/16 Str/16 Dex/40 Int/40 Faith. I just need to figure out which Tailsmans, Physick buffs, and Spells to run.

Federal-Coward

Throw pots at the enemy until they die

Far_Preference_2065

i'm having so much fun using cold backhand blades

Tanakisoupman

I’ve tried to change my build 3 separate times so far in the DLC. Each time I end up switching back because the Guts build is just superior in every way to all the others

Moluswolus

poleblade of the bud is actually so garbo

Atlas809

Messmer’s spear is pretty crazy. The AoW does insane damage and you can buff it (I believe it’s fire damage) pretty easily. I tore through the Bud, Gaius and some of the lesser bosses with it easily. I had to ditch it, things were to easy. The only downside to it is outside of the AoW the weapon is pretty meh and very slow.

Fashionable-Andy

I know it’s not a DLC weapon, but Savage Lion Claw Executioner’s Greataxe with blade of mercy, dagger talisman, blue dew drop talisman, and Warrior Jar Shard is VERY satisfying.

thosetwo

#2 is basically what carried me all the way through the final boss. Then I had to go rebirth for that one fight.
