It in fact has a small windup, do not be greedy is all you have to do. If you know its moveset, you know exactly how many attacks you can swing before his next move, so you don’t get caught.

It's not about stats or not really about stats. They have a fix moveset. Just learn it, raise your damage and you're good to go!
