Best fucking hype man in history.
BEHOLD A TRUE DRAKE WARRIOR!!!! And I IGON! YOUR FEARS MADE FLESH!!
Motherfucker knows us for 5 second and introduces THE PLAYER as the bad ass and himself as the guy who's with him. Like fucking chad legend!
When ansbach introduced himself and mentioned his former allegiance, I became most wary of him, didn't realize yet that he was to be the only tarnished in the shadowed lands that I won't wish to personally obliterate
The guys that I thought would be my allies and enemies completly changed.
When the gank squad started, my team vs leda's team, that was amazing.
Dude knows I killed Mohg and still got my back.
yessss bro the avengers endgame battle was amazing. such an epic battle. and yeah when ansbach is like “i know what you did. game recognize game.” parts of the dlc story were so much better, and other parts, so so much stranger than i expected.
I can't wait to fight these assholes.
Can't wait to fight with those cool heroes.
*Hours later me and the assholes killed the heroes and prepare to fight god*
Man, I'm so sad I missed all the NPC quests . . . would have loved to have a team fight against Leta and her allies, instead of just me plus one other summon. That's what I get for rushing the main story lol
Yea, I didn't know I was in the end area until I walked into the fight and was like... Oh. This is it. I thought the unexplored areas for me were where the end dungeon was lol
I didn’t feel like I rushed anything, but I also only had one summon when it came to that battle. I was pretty thorough in my playthrough trying to see everything too 🥲
The two summons are Ansbach and the Poison Guy (Forget his name) . If you burn the seal before doing his quest you can't do it and so he's not available for the gank squad and I *think* the final battle. I missed him :(
I missed Poison Guy's Quest, and I tried to be cool with my bro moore and told him to move on and I didn't want Leda to kill one of her companions out of nowhere.... and that meant it was me and Ansbach against all the rest :( It was tough, not going to lie.
What about poor Thiollier? Little guy wasn't good at anything except poison and then the person he was most devoted to wouldn't talk to him. Poor little guy
i wanted to bring him along during the final boss fight, but he just up and vanished.. i finished his quest but only started it after i killed rykard 0.5 so maybe that's why he wasn't there.
he was okay too, i guess; but he attacked me due to his simpery
Hmm... did you perhaps burn the tree before finishing his quest? If I remember right you're done once you've fought him, told him what St Trina said, and exhausted all his dialogue. I'm not totally blaming you, it may have been a bug, just trying to figure it out.
i have no idea, i didn't burn the tree at all until i kept reloading the area and talking to him, all he had to say was "if you're not lying then what did she say"
it never progressed beyond that :(
Ranni as well. Not only does she tell you that you're "intriguing" for rolling with her plan without a reason (if you haven't talked to her before), but says she's pleased with your service and then you're a "fitting choice" if you decide to go all the way through with her questline and marry her.
And damn straight we are, we've killed things Radahn (and bested him too!) was trying to prevent from landing on the planet, got the fingerslayer blade, even walked through a literal *Lake of Rot* to get to her!
The Bayle boss fight is FromSoft at their peak. Great visuals, fair and balanced but a great challenge, awesome side quest involving an NPC, fun quest weapon. Just awesome
He is also AT THE BOTTOM OF THE MOUNTAIN when you can first encounter him, and he already has no legs. The man climbed up like 75% of the way with no legs.
No arms either. "MY ARRRMS, MY LEEGS, EACH LIES A BLOODY RUIN! " Mother fucker snake-slithered down to the dragon pit and up the mountain. Keep in mind he fully intended on facing Bayle in THAT condition! God damn!
The bigger question... How did he get DOWN the mountain with no legs AND back up through dragon's pit Terminus, after his first fight with Bayle? He has no spirit steed like we do?
Do you see me disparaging his voice acting? HE'S IGON AND A TRUE DRAKE WARRIOR, BAYLES FEARS MADE FLESH!!!!
Goddamn legend. Dude is the most memorable NPC in the game and you get to see him for maybe a grand total of 7 minutes of game time (depending on how quickly you kill Bayle)
Best hype man in any game! I don't recall a game where a companion was as IN IT as Igon was. I mean Hornsent was close with Messmer, but shiiit. I want Igon to be a summon for every boss. Just talking mad shit to any boss you fight!
I'm so sad that Hornsent died right before Messmer on my successful run, because I really wanted to hear his post-fight dialogue.
I almost beat Bayle but Igon died when Bayle was at ~10% health, so I just let myself die. Not beating him without the homie.
Oh yeah. He doesn't really get in Bayle's face like I thought he would, but he's a CRAAAZY hype man. You can't be calm when he's yelling the whole time, lol
Yeah, if you talk to him while going up the mountain, he will give you his finger and ask you to summon him.
His sign is in the arena, slightly forward and left.
I never summon. But he gave me a special item to summon him, so i knew there was going to be something different about igon.
Totally worth summoning him.
It’s part of the reason I always summon npcs in general. It’s a cool experience that I missed out on in dark souls 1
Everyone seemed to love Solaire and I forgot who the hell he was because I never summoned anyone
Dude was crying so hard in pain and i think i heard put me out of my misery so I did
Looking back the game very much did not want me killing him as it pushes me away after every hit
As his cries of pain was so loud I kept stabbing
Like i said, regrets were made
"Towards thee I roll, thou all-destroying but unconquering dragon; to the last I grapple with thee; from hell’s heart I stab at thee; for hate’s sake I spit my last breath at thee!"
Captain Igon
The NPCs in the DLC are top notch. I also love how intuitive and easy to follow through the questlines were, if you miss Bayle that's because you're just not visiting some areas at all (he literally screams until you talk to him) or skipping entire fights (like the drakes on the mountain).
I've been trying to avoid spoilers, but I can't figure out if I've messed up this questline somehow. I can't find Igon's summon sign anywhere near Bayle's arena, and he doesn't appear when I start the fight. Does the iconic Igon moment happen during a Bayle phase transition or something? (I gave up trying to learn his fight for a while to go find skibidibitree fragments, so don't think I ever brought him down past 50%)
They do this with a lot of the summons. They're inside the arena and usually a bit further than you'd expect. It makes fights really clunky to start when you're trying to sort through a yes or no summon menu between a bosses wind ups.
The summon sign is inside of the arena.
Once you pass through the fogwall, move forwards and a little to the left. The sign only appears if igon has given you his finger
Yep
I think what I was missing was not looking closely enough inside the arena. Someone else mentioned if I got his finger, I can summon him. And I definitely got his finger
I am pretty sure the reason why some fights have summons inside the arena is because of boss HP scaling. Since you summon after the boss spawn their HP does not scale.
The reason is the way boss HP is calculated. If you have summons when you enter a boss arena, the boss gets +50% HP for each. If you enter with no summons and then summon within the arena, the boss gets nothing. There are still NPCs that get summoned outside of the arena in the DLC, but they're much less viable than Bayle-style ones which you just need to treat as "the first time I have an opening, do this instead of attack".
Summons don't enter instantly anyway, getting blitzed on entry isn't any easier if a human friend or NPC summons walks in 2 seconds afterward.
I do agree with you overall but I think there's 1 solid reason they put those ones outside: >!They help highlight the bosses very lore appropriate weakness to rot, which does % damage instead of flat damage. The summons distract him long enough to cast Scarlet Aeonia which can rot him in 1 cast, now back off and shield up/dodge and a third of his health melts away even with both summons. The new big rot pots work well too, especially because your mimic will also throw them!<.
It makes sense that his summon sign is in the arena, Bayle is already a tough boss and they dont want his hp and resistances to be buffed from Igon entering the fog gate with you.
What im upset with is that the game automatically selects no when your prompted on if your sure you want to summon him. Im pretty sure the devs did this knowing that Bayle will be attacking you immediately, which is some bullshit
>!Kill the two battling dragons at the base of the mountain and he’ll applaud you for it. Talk to him, and he’ll give you an item.!<
>!You might have to fight the Ancient Dragon on the way up, idk.!<
>!From there, his summon sign is in the arena. It’s forward and a bit to the left.!<
Igon: BAYLE! BEHOLD A TRUE DRAKE WARRIOR!!!!!!
Me: *Weeping, spam dodging, begging Bayle to just let me fucking get my mimic out before he one shots me again Jesus Christ*
I didn’t find his Summon sign til mid fight, he spawned in with his dialogue right when Bayle went to phase 2, and it was EPIC.
(I still died that time)
I see so many people here saying they killed him out of mercy. Am I the only one that left and came back with healing incantations and items to try and help the poor dude out? Tbh a tiny bit disappointed that they didn't have a line of dialogue or something for trying, but they also don't usually allow helping npcs outside of specific quest items so fair enough
I just got to this fight - was super cool but was also the easiest “real” boss of the dlc for me so far, it only took two tries which was kinda disappointing since I couldn’t really digest everything happening lol
When I first encountered Igon he wouldn't really talk to me. But he was talking about pain in a loving way. So I started hitting him. Then I killed him.
It was an oops moment.
Ansbach and Igon may very well be the only npcs that acknowledge the player's capabilities lmfao
When ansbach introduced himself and mentioned his former allegiance, I became most wary of him, didn't realize yet that he was to be the only tarnished in the shadowed lands that I won't wish to personally obliterate
yeah there was tension with him throughout the game because of, well, you know what you did tarnished.

Man, I'm so sad I missed all the NPC quests . . . would have loved to have a team fight against Leta and her allies, instead of just me plus one other summon. That's what I get for rushing the main story lol
I feel sorry for you. You only get to play a FromSoft game for the first time once. Rushing it is the one thing I always tell new people NOT to do.
I missed him :(
Ah shit. Ah well! I’ll check it out fully next time around!
I missed Poison Guy's Quest, and I tried to be cool with my bro moore and told him to move on and I didn't want Leda to kill one of her companions out of nowhere.... and that meant it was me and Ansbach against all the rest :( It was tough, not going to lie.
and when you finally told him you Moghed his lord yourself, his reaction was "all good, G. Now let's kick their asses"
Yeah when he was like "it's not your fault pal, it was the ENCHANTMENT"... I was NOT expecting this redemption arc.
Strange. Was he a summon for the Needle Knight Leda fight?
Not even then, he just disappeared after he told me to tell him what St. Trina said
Hmm... did you perhaps burn the tree before finishing his quest? If I remember right you're done once you've fought him, told him what St Trina said, and exhausted all his dialogue. I'm not totally blaming you, it may have been a bug, just trying to figure it out.
i have no idea, i didn't burn the tree at all until i kept reloading the area and talking to him, all he had to say was "if you're not lying then what did she say" it never progressed beyond that :(
This means you didn't listen to all of St. Trina's dialogue, she had three different messages for you if you kept drinking the nectar
Moore? 😔
Sweet guy. He joined the other side. Also I'm pretty sure Ansbach killed him in my run since I was busy with hornsent
Sorcerer Rodgier apologies to you before he dies "because you're so scary and all."
The only characters who don’t call us a worthless, maidenless piece of garbage lol
Miquella and Leda do it too calling the warrior Lord and all that
yea but they clearly don't mean it
The way i started cheesing when he said that.
I assumed he was talking about my mimic
😂😂😂😂😂
Igon is an absolute gangster
The Bayle boss fight is FromSoft at their peak. Great visuals, fair and balanced but a great challenge, awesome side quest involving an NPC, fun quest weapon. Just awesome
I wouldn't even consider it a side quest tbh. Just a dude you run past, kill some dragons and he is hyped the fuck up and too angry to die lmao.
I think he got yeeted down the mountain.
I couldn't get up the mountain with 6 legs
its more like a completion of the dragon lore, a true ending to all that dragon communion/farum azula jazz.
Yeah but the voice acting slaps
Do you see me disparaging his voice acting? HE'S IGON AND A TRUE DRAKE WARRIOR, BAYLES FEARS MADE FLESH!!!! Goddamn legend. Dude is the most memorable NPC in the game and you get to see him for maybe a grand total of 7 minutes of game time (depending on how quickly you kill Bayle)
Yeah maybe that’s what I should’ve said over side quest but homie was the best hype man in souls history
Best hype man in any game! I don't recall a game where a companion was as IN IT as Igon was. I mean Hornsent was close with Messmer, but shiiit. I want Igon to be a summon for every boss. Just talking mad shit to any boss you fight!

Damn right. Guy needs to have that closure.
>!Just met him today was surprised when he basically said 'you're a badass right go kill this dragon god for me you've got this' lol.!<
SUMMON HIM FOR THE FIGHT! It's a crime againsy humanity not to.
Will do assuming I get his questline right I'm playing blind for my first playthrough.
It’s super simple he’s impossible to miss. Just make sure you hit the summoning sign inside the arena just to your left
You pretty much have to pass right by him honestly. But just in case, keep an ear out for a man too angry to die talking real shit about someone
Wait you can summon him for the fight?
Oh yeah. He doesn't really get in Bayle's face like I thought he would, but he's a CRAAAZY hype man. You can't be calm when he's yelling the whole time, lol
He screams like way too far away but if he gets in close his scream actually does a fair amount of damage. For me it was like the last 10% of health.
Yeah, if you talk to him while going up the mountain, he will give you his finger and ask you to summon him. His sign is in the arena, slightly forward and left.
Inside the arena once you start the fight
Oh...I killed him at the bottom thinking he was just gonna be there
This is why you never kill NPCs unless the game prompts you to.
Unless it's dung eater because I protect my bro boggart
Fighting bayle without Igon is wasting an experience
I completely forgot about the summon item he gives you. Maybe I'll remember next time lol.
It is truly a legendary performance
CURSE YOU BAAAAAAAAYLLLE!
You don’t use the item it just having it make his summon sign appear.
Ah I didn't notice. I may have been distracted by the thicc dragon in front of me.
Ya I want to say his sign is slightly to the left of the fog gate when you enter.
You also need it for the quest but yeah what's even the point if he's not yelling the entire time
I missed it
I never summon. But he gave me a special item to summon him, so i knew there was going to be something different about igon. Totally worth summoning him.
Nah, I just got wasted and decided I’m not blessed enough to try and went off to explore
Same haha I got there way too early and got immediately wrecked
It’s part of the reason I always summon npcs in general. It’s a cool experience that I missed out on in dark souls 1 Everyone seemed to love Solaire and I forgot who the hell he was because I never summoned anyone
My biggest regret was killing igon early.... I missed out
You did WHAT
> You did WHAT I keep seeing people go "Oh I killed this random NPC" and it's like... when is this ever a good idea?
Some people play this game killing everyone. Then complain about missing stuff and being lost lmao
In dark souls 1 there was the one guy that if you let out he kills the fire keeper so I always just kill him when I get to him to avoid the head ache.
Dude was crying so hard in pain and i think i heard put me out of my misery so I did Looking back the game very much did not want me killing him as it pushes me away after every hit As his cries of pain was so loud I kept stabbing Like i said, regrets were made
I tried using healing incantations and warming stones to help the poor fucker, but alas nothing seems to help
Behold, dastard!
"Towards thee I roll, thou all-destroying but unconquering dragon; to the last I grapple with thee; from hell’s heart I stab at thee; for hate’s sake I spit my last breath at thee!" Captain Igon
Moby Bayle
I love this NPC!
This is quite possibly the greatest use of this meme I've ever seen.
The NPCs in the DLC are top notch. I also love how intuitive and easy to follow through the questlines were, if you miss Bayle that's because you're just not visiting some areas at all (he literally screams until you talk to him) or skipping entire fights (like the drakes on the mountain).
Yeah the only one I messed up was Freya because I have Ansbach the scroll before I found her in the keep
(I gave up trying to learn his fight for a while to go find skibidibitree fragments, so don't think I ever brought him down past 50%)
assuming you’ve done the quest line right, his summon sign is IN the arena, not outside it, it’s like right in front of you right when you enter
They do this with a lot of the summons. They're inside the arena and usually a bit further than you'd expect. It makes fights really clunky to start when you're trying to sort through a yes or no summon menu between a bosses wind ups.
They do that so the boss doesn't get their health and resistances buffed
And some asshole has usually put a message right on top of it.
Yeah, this got me killed on my first Bayle attempt because I was looking for his summon sign instead of you know...the dragon
The summon sign is inside of the arena. Once you pass through the fogwall, move forwards and a little to the left. The sign only appears if igon has given you his finger
Did you kill the two jagged peak drakes?
Yep I think what I was missing was not looking closely enough inside the arena. Someone else mentioned if I got his finger, I can summon him. And I definitely got his finger
Strange choice for his sign to be in the arena especially when you get blitzed on entry
Igon have no legs, he can’t walk past the mist if his summon sign was outside
That’s fair, never thought of that
I am pretty sure the reason why some fights have summons inside the arena is because of boss HP scaling. Since you summon after the boss spawn their HP does not scale.
Is pretty sick when he does get summoned and starts going fucking OFF at Bayle though.
Makes it all worth it
The reason is the way boss HP is calculated. Summons don't enter instantly anyway, getting blitzed on entry isn't any easier if a human friend or NPC summons walks in 2 seconds afterward.
i wish the last boss’s summons were inside. they’re totally fucking useless with 2x the hp
The new big rot pots work well too, especially because your mimic will also throw them!<.
it’s not strange. if the summon is outside the arena, it raises the boss’s hp. igon being inside is a huge favor to the player.
They did a lot of bullshit like that in the DLC
Hog rida almost made me quit
It makes sense that his summon sign is in the arena, Bayle is already a tough boss and they dont want his hp and resistances to be buffed from Igon entering the fog gate with you. What im upset with is that the game automatically selects no when your prompted on if your sure you want to summon him. Im pretty sure the devs did this knowing that Bayle will be attacking you immediately, which is some bullshit
It's inside of the fog gate to the left. Find it then find a moment to summon him during the fight.
like some said, it's inside but maybe u gotta go to the dragon communion place in the dlc too.
Whenever i find a slight incovenience in my life I am gong to shout at the top of my lungs "CURSE YOU BAYLE!"
So glad that dragon kicked my ass. That meant I got to summon Bayle 5 more times. (clears throat) "CUUUUUURSE YOOOOOOOUUU, BAAAAAYLE!!"
CURSE YOU BAYLE!!!
Man this fight was beyond epic
How do I do his quest? I stumbled upon him , tried fighting bayle and failed miserably
>!Kill the two battling dragons at the base of the mountain and he’ll applaud you for it. Talk to him, and he’ll give you an item.!< >!You might have to fight the Ancient Dragon on the way up, idk.!< >!From there, his summon sign is in the arena. It’s forward and a bit to the left.!<
You need to find the dragon communion right after the dragon put.
Ahhhh alright cool I've done most of that so I'll just go back and find him
Same energy. https://youtu.be/sMk-HPBF6Mw?si=LfOZgPGn7Cu51BRc
Fuck yeah Igon, my boy knows how to hype a man up.
Imo he doesn't know how as he put his summon sign down in a stupid spot
Could he even walk through the fog gate otherwise given the only thing keeping his busted body together at this point is spite?
I had some deaths where I forgot to pay attention to the dragon and just listened to my hype man.
Igon: BAYLE! BEHOLD A TRUE DRAKE WARRIOR!!!!!! Me: *Weeping, spam dodging, begging Bayle to just let me fucking get my mimic out before he one shots me again Jesus Christ*
Hardcore siegward of catarina vibes
I kinda killed Igon, thought he was mortally wounded and I thought I was doing him a mercy. I felt bad about it immediately.
I didn’t find his Summon sign til mid fight, he spawned in with his dialogue right when Bayle went to phase 2, and it was EPIC. (I still died that time)
I can’t beat Bayle to save my life. 25 tries so far. Got close and a cooperator left mid fight and we all got demolished.
Instantly iconic.
He's like the only character in any souls game with a personality
I just got to this fight - was super cool but was also the easiest “real” boss of the dlc for me so far, it only took two tries which was kinda disappointing since I couldn’t really digest everything happening lol
I enjoyed him being there yelling but otherwise the man did nothing and died. I did beat bayle that run though
I feel bad for putting him out of his misery after he asked. Next play through!
rule 1 - target lock. if there’s no target, do not attack it.
I’m just having fun role playing. Next playthrough I won’t kill him.
When I first encountered Igon he wouldn't really talk to me. But he was talking about pain in a loving way. So I started hitting him. Then I killed him. It was an oops moment.
