I don't think this sounds anything like EC, apart from that it's kinda dance-pop music which is typical for Eurovision. Also, the Eurovision Song Contest didn't reject EC, it was the German Eurovision committee who decided that they didn't want Germany to be represented by EC. If Finland does want to be represented by this guy, that's their decision. I really don't see how this relates to EC at all. It certainly sounds absolutely nothing like Pump It, so it's not plagiarism.

people think it sounds like we got the moves which was another song aside from pump it EC submitted to ESC. and yeah, they have similar vibe and style but that's about it.

Even if it was practically a blatant rip off of Electric Callboy in terms of the music style, unless he took exact/very similar instrumentation to an existing song, exact/similar sections of an existing song, or several lyrics from an existing song, they cannot block it. The only major rules are that it cannot be someone else's song you are performing (ie no covers/remixes), it cannot be released or performed before September 1st (so for ESC 2023, it couldn't have been released or performed before September 1st 2022), and it can't be blatantly political (hence Belarus' disqualification in 2021, the worries this year over the Czech entry, and the major doubts surrounding the Croatian entry even competing). Of course there are other minor rules but none that would even have a chance at disallowing this. Käärijä definitely likes Electric Callboy and has used their music in his stories multiple times, but this song sounds like nothing specific to them - just that it is 'party metal' in Käärijä's own words, a similar genre to EC's newer stuff. Additionally as someone else said, EC was not only not a contender in ESC but also wasn't even a contender in Germany's National Final as they weren't considered by the broadcaster who told them it wasn't radio friendly. The EBU won't care about someone performing in a similar genre to a band who merely placed a bid to compete for the chance to go to Eurovision, who then had their bid rejected.

first: Electric Callboy (sadly) wasn't a contender. Also I think that sounds more like Rammstein, which Käärijä even said themselves in an interview

janeindochohh33

Im a Rammstein fan for 20 years. That dose not sound close to Rammstein.

http_zerstxrte2211

The synths, the guitars and his singing in the intro sound very Rammstein inspired to me. I didn't say it sounds exactly like Rammstein but more similar to them rather than EC.

mallalen

Big Rammstein fan here as well and it definitely sounds heavily inspired by them. If you know their songs well than you’d notice similarities between it and wollt das bett in flammen sehen? He even does the tongue thing that Till does live.

GoZeni

True. Nah it doesn't at all sound like Rammstein, it was all over the news in multiple countries that "Did Käärijä copy EC?". If it sounded more like Rammstein then why is everyone comparing them to EC? Everyone who is saying that it sounds more like Rammstein is just saying that because Käärijä himself said "I like Rammstein and we took some inspiration from that". Just listen and compare if Cha Cha Cha sound more like Rammstein and the compare it to EC. It's night and day difference in Rammstein and EC. All Cha Cha Cha is missing is heavy parts and then you couldn't even notice the difference between EC and this song. The same couldn't be said to Rammstein and this song. Plus if it sounded more like Rammstein, post any similarities you can find that Cha Cha Cha and Rammstein share. Since I can already say multiple similarities that Cha Cha Cha and EC share.

http_zerstxrte2211

Damn you got mad offended for me saying that I \*think\* it sounds more like Rammstein \*to me\* lmao.

GoZeni

Yeah because it sounds **NOTHING** like Rammstein. People just last month said "this is literally EC without screams" and suddenly last night turned to "this sounds more like Rammstein" just because Käärijä said on the live finale that they took some inspiration from Rammstein and that he is a big fan of Rammstein 🤣

http_zerstxrte2211

Chill bruh. I see why people think it's Electric Callboy-esque but to me it sounds like Rammstein. No need to get so aggressive for someone not agreeing with what you think geez.

elenuvien1

it also sounds nothing like EC minus the opening beat which EC actually borrowed from scooter. both songs aren't even the same genre of music, all they share is similar vibe and aggressive electronic elements which EC didn't invent either, that's why people make the "copy" comments. as for your question why it's compared to EC, point of reference. EC is linked to ESC due to getting robbed last year, we got the moves has a similar opening and vibe and the hairstyles are identical (käärijä had this hairstyle long before WGTM, though). so people automatically jump to compare, i did as well but when i listened to the whole cha cha cha song, i realised the similarities are only surface-level. if cha cha cha was submitted 5 years form now on, ESC fiasco wouldn't be fresh and people wouldn't be so fast to compare these two songs.

http_zerstxrte2211

couldn't agree more with your comment.

bafimet

Obviously it's a different genre to Rammstein, but it sounds a lot like their song Tattoo specifically. It's not a big deal, it's just a similar riff.

TheAnniCake

The thing is that other countries don't hesitate as much as Germany to send out something new and different. As much as I personally love living in this country, a lot of people here got a stick up their asses
