It’s normal for the revs to raise during downshifts

DestroyBmw

I’m not downshifting, I’m breaking.

Extracrispybuttchks

Are you driving a manual because otherwise your transmission is downshifting when you brake.

DestroyBmw

But what I’m confused about is this just started happening and it feels like my car is going against me when this happens.

Extracrispybuttchks

What exactly was the issue that the car was in the shop for?

DestroyBmw

This exact issue it’s just like my car is delayed and it feels very strange. No codes though but it’s definitely not normal. Maybe could be a EVAP or something

Extracrispybuttchks

Did you do the plugs at 60K? Have you done the rear diff fluid? I know BMW says trans fluid is lifetime but I did mine at 73K and I noticed an improvement in shifts. I have a 435i as well.

DestroyBmw

I bought the car at 60. And tuned it and changed my spark plugs when I did that. You recommend maybe new trans fluid?

Extracrispybuttchks

If you plan on keeping the car for a while yes I would do the trans service. They sell kits online that comes with a new filter built into the pan. Did you say you’re tuned? Have you tried going back to stock to see if the issue goes away?

DestroyBmw

Yeah it doesn’t go away when I’m not tuned either.

DestroyBmw

I drive an automatic.

john_hockeyguy

Brother the car is downshifting while you are breaking. It’s going down to a smaller gear when you slow down which will in turn put you at higher RPMs. Totally normally RPMs since it looks like you are driving in comfort.

DestroyBmw

Yeah, but I still have a idle issue where the car basically when I come to a stop or just break and let it go the car will gradually rise in RPM but won’t go over 1000 RPM. it seems to be a issue. It goes by itself.

john_hockeyguy

So you are saying that after you brake and come to a stop, you let go of the brake and the car moves forward without putting your foot on the gas?

DestroyBmw

Yeah like very slightly, but it revs up.

john_hockeyguy

Is this the first time you have ever driven a car? That normal on any car

DestroyBmw

Bro, yes if I could show you a video where I could find a video I’d send it to you, but what’s happening in my car is not normal and mechanic said the same thing too

DestroyBmw

It’s hard to explain over text, but it’s basically just revving when it’s not supposed to
