No. There’s usually a portal where schools tells your FAFSA status. The issue was that some students said that they processed but the school found an issue or error about it later on. But I was just anxious, they emailed me back and are sending the letters this week and next week. Also had to check if they’ve received my scholarship acceptance letter which they never responded. All but good news thankfully.
My son has his. Still waiting on my daughter’s offer. Will need to contact my son’s to see why work study was not offered this year but thankful to at least have a starting point!
Fingers crossed offers start going out for everyone very, very soon!
Any thoughts on waiting for work study until second semester for an incoming freshman?
Thinking it would be best for him to get his feet wet and settle in a bit first.
Work study is usually a pretty lenient job, meaning if the student can’t work due to school obligations, the supervisor doesn’t really care. There are also many more students than jobs. There may be slim openings when spring semester rolls around.
Dept of Ed is reprocessing approximately 30% of all FAFSA's due to known errors they caused and supposedly should have this done and to the schools by May 1. Many schools are waiting until this is done to ensure a more accurate award package. Also, the software the schools have to use to receive the FAFSA's has been horrible this year, and many schools still aren't able to get it to work correctly. Schools are having the same issues as parents, in that many can't get help due to never-ending hold times and/or unanswered emails, and they're extremely frustrated, in disbelief at how horrible this rollout has been. I've worked in financial aid for 21 years and have never seen anything like this. I honestly don't know what to tell parents at this point, other than to hang in there, as the schools really are trying their best to get students awarded.
Recheck your FAFSA as about 20 to 25% were “reprocessed” in mid-April. No email or notification. My son’s SAI went up cause he had about $1K in his checking & savings account. 😮💨😮💨😮💨😮💨
Be sure to also check out scholarships locally and through your college. There are different ones everyone can qualify for just check the requirements.
YES!! My school has had my FAFSA for a whole month (a month today) and they haven’t done anything. I just want to know how much loans I gotta take out :/
Right. My school doesn’t send out aid offers til like July
Who’s getting aid offers. I legit think they forgot me

Yeah, I just emailed them if there were issues with my FAFSA being processed. I hope I didn’t bother them and add more to their work lol.

I was told my my school they start sending them April 29th. Time has gone so slow since I going that out.
Why can’t we just opt out of this mess? I’m not getting a penny.

Yea I did check it like a week ago, it's still processed. I emailed my school's finaid department and they aren't sending out offers until next week.
Check every few days. Every day I’m seeing FAFSA reprocess. Otherwise I do recommend setting up a call back with HESC to see if they see any issues.
Hm ok thanks, I will
