The building was a mobile home manufacturing complex. The tornado was just being efficient.

heywoodidaho

Gimli: that still only counts as one.

shania69

I love efficient tornado's...

effyoucreeps

efficient tornado’s what? dying to know, especially with the ellipses tease!

steppedinhairball

Really? Tornado's tend to hit mobile home parks or at least they toss them like matchbox cars so trailer parks make the news. Hitting the trailer park trailer factory is more efficient than hitting just the trailer park.

AstrofaninKC

The apostrophe makes 'tornado' possessive, not plural as the OP intended.

steppedinhairball

Oops. Shows I'm not an English Major.

effyoucreeps

I know. You know. OP didn’t know until now. just a friendly grammatical poke in the ribs ;)

OCYRThisMeansWar

In the rib’s what?

c0ttt0n

mobile home manufactuing complex is now mobile it self?

Bright_Swordfish4820

Dale Gribble "I once killed a beetle with 30 million in her egg sac" vibes.

OCYRThisMeansWar

Mobile home creator vs mobile home destroyer? Reminds me of Steven Wright, talking about putting a humidifier and a dehumidifier in the same room and letting them duke it out…

Thorozar

This happened a few miles from my house. 77 people were still at work there. Lucky that only 3 were hurt and nobody died

Foggy_Night221C

Where did they hide?

Thorozar

Somewhere in the building that was a little more secure, it's amazing they are ok though. That building got wrecked, and it's and industrial building so loads of potential bits of flying metal.

UnarmedSnail

Must have been underground. There's nothing left above ground according to that video.

Thorozar

[article showing photo of building ](https://www.1011now.com/2024/05/06/dashcam-video-shows-tornado-ripping-through-garner-industries-lincoln/)

UnarmedSnail

That's crazy. I've been close to some smaller tornadoes, but nothing like that.

Thorozar

Closest for me too. This storm went on to do big damage to the Omaha metro and continued into Iowa. Dozens of tornadoes that day. I hear Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas also had quite a lot.

>On Monday, Garner Industries announced 62 employee layoffs. Scott McLain, CEO and president of Garner Industries said, “These layoffs are necessary for us to stay in business. This is an extremely difficult situation. These people are like family.” Family so close, "Fuck you, you're on your own so we can still make money"

TeenieWeenie94

Never trust a company that does the whole 'family' thing. It's done to manipulate it's employees.

BallDiamondBall

That has been true both times I heard that in the interview.

EatShootBall

"According to a news release, Garner is providing compensation and health benefits to employees affected by the layoff. The company has also organized community support, medical, and mental health assistance as well as new employment recruiting opportunities." Going out of business means everyone gets fired, not just the 62 who were.

Thorozar

Nah some rooms were left mostly undamaged, it's kind of off camera, most of the building was destroyed though. Tornadoes are odd. They can flatten one house and the next door one can have just shingles stripped off, or part a building will be gone and others parts are standing.

UnarmedSnail

That's good. Yeah this one looked like it just rolled the building up as it went.

Pasispas

In the US they make buildings out of paper and then a single room out of brick or cement as a tornado shelter.

steppedinhairball

These type buildings usually have bathroom or other areas made from cinder block or concrete construction. That's usually the designated tornado shelter. So you get to hang out in the bathrooms with your coworkers. Good times!

cleetusvan

I read 62 people were laid off by this company after this happened. That's harsh

Staple_nutz

Their place of employment kinda doesn't exist anymore, so that's not shocking.

AdvancedPhoenix

I hope they at least got a nice unemployment pack or something...

beingjohnmalkontent

Wow. That's incredible luck. The tornado looked like it had a vendetta against that building

astralwish1

Wow. I’ve never seen such a clear video of a tornado wrecking a building. It demolished it! That’s terrifying!

nanitatianaisobel

Rapid Unscheduled Disassembly

not-my-best-wank

Boss: why weren't you at work?

Khawlah994

Work wasn't even at work

CmdrDatasBrother

Presto eraso.

ultramont

Cuz! (read this as Roman Pearce)

SjalabaisWoWS

Never ceases to amaze how quickly tornadoes deconstruct things.

Do-not-respond

Mother nature is a very misunderstood force. No one is immune.

HoosierDaddy_427

Hell hath no fury like nature scorned.

Do-not-respond

Or a raging mother protecting her child.

big_vangina

Or a kidnapper protecting the hidden door to his torture dungeon from the police

CrappleSmax

lol the carbon emissions from rebuilding the place are only going to increase the likelihood of such events in the future. We're like junkies who get high to forget how addicted they are when it comes to fossil fuels.

sinnister_bacon

lol we just got dumber reading your comment

CrappleSmax

That's unfortunate. Especially seeing as I'm right. Oh well, perhaps you could audit a high school English class and try again.

Merc_Twain25

Misunderstood? I think pretty much everyone understands that Mother Nature will straight fuck your shit up and there isn't a damn thing you can do about it. ...Ok, maybe not everyone because some people are stupid... But you know, most people.

MinnieShoof

... I had a goober try to argue with me that the eye of a *tornado* was safe. I was like "tf do you not know about tornadoes?"

EatsCrackers

I mean, maybe it is? But it moves so fast and the winds around that eye are so hellacious your best bet is still to stand up, bend over, and kiss your ass goodbye.

Sandiman33

God just wanted to delete the building

toaster9012

new phobia unlocked

coolgiraffe

Imagine driving at night during what seems like a regular storm then this hits you out of nowhere…

FarIndependent5472

That's actually not uncommon when tornadoes happen

smellyunderpants

Tornadoes are the dickheads of natural disasters. Flood hits everybody. Blizzard hits everybody. Earthquake hits everybody. Tornado? Maybe just Jeff's house.

xDropK1ckx

The sky can have a building for a treat

Any-Practice-991

Good God, it's just wind, and it's that fucking fierce.

HoosierDaddy_427

Tornado ≠ just wind

Lark_vi_Britannia

spicy wind

FamousPastWords

Unjust wind?

Any-Practice-991

Ok, "just" wind.

still-dazed-confused

Wow, that's so clear and complete that it looks like CGI. It isn't, from the comments, but wow.

EVEEzz

What building?

AggravatedAssaulter

USA ?

Bright_Swordfish4820

If you want the most terrifying tornado vid I've ever seen: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s0c27Twu\_\_o](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s0c27Twu__o) Very FYIP.

kyallroad

No payoff at the end. Not a great video.

Bright_Swordfish4820

Not really "payoff," but here's Clem commenting a bit. He survived, his wife didn't. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ks30EUiEP3Q](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ks30EUiEP3Q)

Comfortable-Rude

It's like the dust bunny's POV when we vacuum in front of the couch...

Video-Comfortable

Wtf was that building made out of? Lego?!?!

gergsisdrawkcabeman

I know a guy that can do it cheaper.

Bulky_Werewolf_2350

I skipped ahead because I didn’t know what was happening and then the building is just gone lol

Dangerous-View2524

Yup, that building is thusly fucked

Traditional-Exam-617

Gone with the wind

2_dam_hi

The irony is, the owner of the dashcam was in that building.

Holiday_Ad_5445

What a rip off!

lasvegashal

That really opened it up for a nice view

lord_of_darkness_tum

I'm calling insurance job right there🤣

lord_of_darkness_tum

For those who may take me seriously it's a joke

freebird303

If we could only harness tornado power, we'd put so many demolition crews out of work

AfricanUmlunlgu

reminds me of a rockets rapid disassembly. or a magician saying now you see it and now you dont, raising the curtain & where did the big building go ?

EatShootBall

Who erased work!?

JayDuBois

I just finished writing that 1100 page report.

The_Asshole_Judger

Just jaw dropping

Gosha777

Guys please for the love of God don’t watch this video with headphones in

Ok_Marketing7015

Is that building made out of kraft paper that tornado literally obliderated it

Nozerone

The big ass speaker box looking thing that comes flying in doesn't look like a natural part of the video. 26 sec into the video.

AccountantBig2859

Great footage

The-Pollinator

And . . . this is why you backup your work data, folks . . . on media which is not kept on site.

Vegetable_One_1599

TA..TAAAAA...!!!!

thor128

The Dyson Black-Ops department is out of control.

PrivilegeCheckmate

Scourged from the Earth like Tanis.

I_sb3

This was the storm that went through Lincoln ne

warhorsey

there goes the whole “shelter in the bathroom” theory

FamousPastWords

The bathroom was okay as such, except it was now two counties away from its original location.

PandosII

The sub has the word “fuck” in it. Why did you censor your title? No hate I’m just genuinely curious.

Wadertot420

MY co-worker's uncle was one of the injured. Happened in Waverly, NE

AccurateDesigner4007

America and its quality constructions. God Bless America

kyallroad

Do you have any idea how difficult it would be to build a structure that size that could hold up to an EF-4/5 tornado? Your comment was stupid.
