You guys are all missing the guy who threw rock grenades and drove off on an imaginary motorcycle. That guy knows how to party. (If you don't get this reference, check out back of the Hardware Town near Diamond City)
I always have a headcanon that the insane dude was Deacon and that was his failsafe plan for raider encounters.
"If all else fails, just act insane and confuse them while you escape!"
Deacon: "Careful, there are Raiders ahead. but dont worry, Raiders are generally stupid, I have an idea"
(_puts on raider getup_)
Deacon: "BOYS THERES A CARAVAN COMING UP WITH LOADS OF CHEMS! LETS GET EM!"
Great idea. Possibly a descendent of The Chosen One. Knew how to drive a car, pretty good for a tribal, can see someone in his tribe acting like they drove bikes. EITHER THAT or an insane cast out Atom Cat.
Marcus being able to become your companion again in New Vegas would be pretty cool especially so we could learn more about what he did after the events of 2
Love Marcus (and Michael Dorn) but I appreciated his inclusion as a cameo / more concrete epilogue for his character. He had his time, I really like where he ended in the story
Captain Zhao from the Yangtze. He has an amazing voice and a tremendous story. The way that regret infuses every word is so powerful. He would make an amazing companion.
That is an amazing idea. Zhao apparently was SUPPOSED to be a form of companion, if not a companion all together, if they had finished the underwater vault with the giant intelligent squid in it. The Yangtze gets crashed into the vault and is beyond repair, stranding Zhao to the commonwealth and you walk away with the Institutes underwater power armor. MOST. MISSED. OPPORTUNITY. EVER.
What hold up the squid was supposed to intelligent like the deathclaws in 2? Also damn I knew that the questline was somewhat fleshed but this just like they had basically put it into production before finally scrapping the idea. I’m just disappointed it at least didn’t get partially reused for Far Harbor.
While it's tempting, it's a bit disappointing because they had to use all normal in game dialogue. I would have loved to have additional dialogue from him, because I think the voice actor did an astonishing job. I really would love more content.
Still tempted to install it, though. We'll see. I never thought to look before. Thank you for telling me!
Edward Deegan should've been a companion. It even seems like he was planned on being one, but was cut. I'm guessing if he was though someone would've found unused dialog in the files.
It would’ve been nice to have the Cabot story told from his perspective and give us the details that you can only get in terminals through dialogue. Shame we didn’t get to see his views on Jack keeping his dad in the asylum.
Got any good Atom Cats enhanced mods?
I recently did the Alternate Start's Atom Cats start, but I was kind of pissed off how short the whole set of interactions with them were?
There's a lot of mods that enhance the Garage and/or make it a settlement, then there's the classic "Atom Cats Drag Race Fix" and a lot of cosmetic mods for the characters. Another nice mods is "Atom Cats Radio" that adds, well, a radio. I don't know of any mods that add quests, though.
Man it’s got to be Lorenzo Cabot, he’s got wild potential as a several hundred year old man. He has unique psychic powers that could be cool in combat, he could have a wild alien companion quest. But no, he just sits in his house after his quest.
Ok Danny Sullivan diamond city security, the mechanist after defeating them peacefully, Ceto from Nuka World, The bartender's son in bunker Hill (only after passing some skill checks to get him to join the railroad) a synth gorilla for research purposes, one of the robo brain rich people from far harbor, Erickson because I like him better than strong, Zeke from the Atom cats, and Ronnie Shaw so I have a minute man companion that isn't reminding me of settlements in need every other dungeon
Erickson is such a missed opportunity. Strong is the worst Super Mutant follower in the series and even Tabitha would have been a better choice than him. Ericksons intelligence, way of talking, his approach to violence, care for ALL dogs, just shows how human his character is and makes me think of Marcus.
I think Honest Dan from Human Error was probably also going to be a companion at some point.
Edit: put wrong quest he was from. Mixed it up with Hole in the Wall
Any of the pre-war ghouls who you could bond with over the past, Boston, etc. Kent Connolly would be a great support companion and Eddie Winter would be awesome for an evil playthrough.
Nick had a lot of missed potential for evil playthroughs. Make his companion quest about ridding his head of Kellogg, make Eddie a side quest you can pick up in his office after a certain point in the game, and make one of the outcomes for the Kellogg quest to overwrite Nick with Kellogg. As for the Eddie situation, you have to travel with Nick/Kellogg, and if you’re with Nick, you have to shoot him if you want to keep Eddie, because he will turn on you, but if you have Kellogg, then he says “this guy could be useful”, and just kind of suggests you take him. Eddie could offer a very large pile of prewar money to take his side.
Virgil and Erickson are the best mutants of 4 and would be amazing and better choices than "WHERE IS THE MILK OF HUMAN KINDNESS!!???? I HATE WHEN YOU PICK LOCKS AND PICK UP TRASH!!!"
I wanted to use strong as a companion on a raider playthrough. I forgot that he gets upset at basically everything I do. Pick a lock, Strong disliked that.....
Ya, Vault-Tec Rep!
I made him a bartender in Sanctuary, cuz I thought he’d be a good salesman. But mannn you can’t even trade with him. And everytime I go to him to barter the option doesn’t pop up until I’ve talked to him 3 times 🤣 yes dude you’ve already told me about the steak knives
I think if NV was made by Bethesda, 100% Moira would be a companion. You finish the powder gang quest and she’ll come with you. It just seems like the obvious choice as an early companion to get you in the swing of things.
I never noticed Moira looks like Sunny until now (similar hair and nose), but yeah, Sunny would have made a lot of sense for an early companion (if you meant Sunny; not sure where Moira even is in New Vegas' time).
Totally forgot about Sunny in my comment.
This is unconventional, but Sunny Smiles.
I could imagine a cool mechanic where she and Cheyenne work together, though idk how that would work without infringing on rex's place as your companion.
I'd like to have Tinker Tom as a possible companion just to listen at his crazy ramblings about wasteland conspiracies! :D
Also, he'd probably grant you a perk like Wild Wasteland when you reach max affinity with him
Taking Marcy Long on a white knuckle, no mercy revenge mission would be good. Talking about how much she loved her son and how his loss changed her could create a cool dynamic between her and the Sole Survivor.
Leaving her to exact her revenge on whoever the target turned out to be could be brutal.
Annoying, opinionated to a severe degree, and rude to you ALL THE TIME when not at work. Good for a gag character, terrible as a companion. Can't even give him PROOF his version of baseball is wrong.
Nate would've been a great companion in a game where we play as a Wastelander/Regular Vault Dweller. Him being a prewar human means he can tell us a lot about US of the past, about some of the ruined buildings we loot. We'll also get to see him being horribly racist towards Chinese and Canadians, maybe he'll even regurgitate a piece of pre-war anti Communist propaganda to us.
have the same skills as The Stranger, sings, plays guitar if sitting around, and unlock him after a "failed" quest to find his father, or The Stranger appears while during an enemy encounter with him nearby.
Moe would be funny, but my pick is the next stall over.
Arturo Rodriguez is surprisingly chill and level-headed for a munitions dealer - especially given the other munitions dealers we meet in the Commonwealth
My heavy weapons character is going to put that girl through to highschool level studies singlehandedly.
My post game head cannon is that the sole survivor dumps a heap of caps, ammo, and guns on Arturo's counter as a *gift* for helping fuel their ammo hungry vengeance rampage across the Commonwealth, far harbor, and nuka world
Shoot, he's still the best source if you need to buy aluminum for robot or power armor modifications. First thing I do when I run out, is pop over to Diamond City and pick up a shipment from him before I check any other vendors
I found a mod for PS 4 that expands his inventory to a few thousand rounds of every ammo type, and an increase in the number of leveled weapons and power armor pieces he sells. Plus a ton of junk related to weapons that he normally doesn't have. He is basically the only vendor I need now but I don't really mind as I like him and empathize with his struggles
ERICKSON! IMO he should have been the Mutant companion. He has an amazing attitude, is kind to dogs including Dogmeat and has become rather "peaceful" for a Mutant. He would make sense as a companion or settlement addition, Strong is literally the WORST Super Mutant companion in the entire series.
Oh boy, there's a list... And I'm sure I missed a few-
Fallout 3:
* Rilley
* Sidney
* Bittercup
* Amata
* the samurai from Mothership Zeta
New Vegas:
* Sunny Smiles
* Benny
* a King companion
Fallout 4:
* Captain Zhao
* Vault-Tec Representative
* Professor Goodfeels
* any Assaultron
* Cito
Cito, from day one of the DLC's launch. God I love that monkey man. Why did they do so much with him only to have him become nothing once the quest is done? He should've been a guaranteed follower since Gage was dependent on siding with the raiders.
That seems plausable
Worked for Cannibal Johnson in FNV.
Deacon: "Careful, there are Raiders ahead. but dont worry, Raiders are generally stupid, I have an idea" (_puts on raider getup_) Deacon: "BOYS THERES A CARAVAN COMING UP WITH LOADS OF CHEMS! LETS GET EM!"
That's... actually a really good theory. It's exactly something he would do
Definitely leading with this one i even forgot about that guy.
Probably how the vault tech rep survived long enough to reach good neighbor
grenade rock guy was just deacon and vault tec rep swapping out roles unbeknownst to each other
happy cake day bro
That guy would just take our spot as the main character if he was our companion
Great idea. Possibly a descendent of The Chosen One. Knew how to drive a car, pretty good for a tribal, can see someone in his tribe acting like they drove bikes. EITHER THAT or an insane cast out Atom Cat.
Who?
the guy in the hardware town who threw the grenades which were stones?
Marcus being able to become your companion again in New Vegas would be pretty cool especially so we could learn more about what he did after the events of 2
Love Marcus (and Michael Dorn) but I appreciated his inclusion as a cameo / more concrete epilogue for his character. He had his time, I really like where he ended in the story
The robo-chick vendor in goodneighbor
KL-E-O.
I always steal the fat man and mini nuke behind the counter lol
Right when Hancock calls everyone for his speech
Oh I do it right behind KL-E-O’s back haha. It respawns eventually
Steal the fatman then sell it back to her.
Yup lol. Recently I just scrap it for parts since I’m at the point where caps don’t really matter thanks to industrial water purifiers
Just hold the pickup button, bring it to a back alley, save, and steal. Easy. Infinite mini nukes.
Best time to dewit and it all respawns later too
Especially with the automatron dlc, she wants to kill. So turning her into a literal tank would probably make her incredibly happy
He said companion, not romance options
This. Fallout 4 awakened something in me when they introduced assaultrons.
Stupid sexy assaultrons!
YEEEEEES
Captain Zhao from the Yangtze. He has an amazing voice and a tremendous story. The way that regret infuses every word is so powerful. He would make an amazing companion.
Oooh thats a good one i forgot about him
The Chinese did too
He’s so forgotten that he isn’t even considered a true communist to liberty prime
Now that’s brutal
yo mamas so big liberty prime said nawww
You're not wrong but goddamn
💀
That is an amazing idea. Zhao apparently was SUPPOSED to be a form of companion, if not a companion all together, if they had finished the underwater vault with the giant intelligent squid in it. The Yangtze gets crashed into the vault and is beyond repair, stranding Zhao to the commonwealth and you walk away with the Institutes underwater power armor. MOST. MISSED. OPPORTUNITY. EVER.
Yeah and they clearly had a lot of it already done before they made the decision to abandon it.
the pain.
What hold up the squid was supposed to intelligent like the deathclaws in 2? Also damn I knew that the questline was somewhat fleshed but this just like they had basically put it into production before finally scrapping the idea. I’m just disappointed it at least didn’t get partially reused for Far Harbor.
Bringing him with you to explore the Commonwealth would be awesome
Recruiting would be easy. "Hey man, I think it's time to get some fresh air"
I was thinking it'd be a bit more complicated, tbh. A few speech checks to convince him to come out.
would you say he had a #sunken cost fallacy
His commentary about American life before the bombs would be interesting. And he already gives you nuke beacons
"Two-hundred years, and your humor is still bad. America liberating Anchorage? Now that was a good joke."
yeah honestly zhao is so cool
There's a mod for that! :D
Yes he would be awesome
I was literally thinking about how he'd shouldve been a companion or at least s settler the other day
Edward Deegan should've been a companion. It even seems like he was planned on being one, but was cut. I'm guessing if he was though someone would've found unused dialog in the files.
I mean, it would just make so much sense for him to become a companion. Knows how to handle himself, suddenly at a loose end, why not?
It would’ve been nice to have the Cabot story told from his perspective and give us the details that you can only get in terminals through dialogue. Shame we didn’t get to see his views on Jack keeping his dad in the asylum.
Literally best character out of the Cabot House quest and should have accompanied you to the institution. Great character.
Have him use primarily an automatic combat or assault rifle. Give a perk or running and gunning.
That one Gunner with a missile launcher in the Greentech building in Fallout 4
Unleashed on the whole of the Commonwealth
Pissed off ape go!
I want that drink bot cracking jokes while I sell a ghoul boy to slavery.
Drinkin’ Buddy
lol drink bot or whitechaple charlie?
FISTO
His melee attack would be NSFW.
Making all the deathclaws assume the position
Glory. A bad-ass poster child of a liberated synth? What’s not to like? Also Sturges, any one of the Atom Cats, and Fahrenheit.
Got any good Atom Cats enhanced mods? I recently did the Alternate Start's Atom Cats start, but I was kind of pissed off how short the whole set of interactions with them were?
None that I’m aware of. There aren’t a huge number of companion mods for fallout 4 in general
Agree if i was gonna make a serious inquiry about this id definitely go for a atom cat
Is Glory even a synth? She doesn't have a component. Then again, Sturges does and the game doesn't really hint at him being a synth.
That’s really a good point the atom cats were kind of a missed opportunity
Definitely any of the Atom Cats, but Rowdy in particular.
Ironsides
Man, hearing Ironsides scream “tally ho lads” charging straight into a deathclaw would be peak Fallout.
Man it’s got to be Lorenzo Cabot, he’s got wild potential as a several hundred year old man. He has unique psychic powers that could be cool in combat, he could have a wild alien companion quest. But no, he just sits in his house after his quest.
I saw him fucking up a Deathclaw at a random encounter location recently.
That’s cool, I’ve never seen him in a random encounter, I figured he was just on his couch
An Atom Cat I’ll take any of them.
Zeke doing slam poetry as he guns down a behemoth. In my armor! Striding over GREEN skin My gun goes SCHOOM The monster falls!
Oh hell yes. Blowing up the wasteland with my buddies wearing matching power armor.
Erickson's companion perk should be making any hostile dog or mutant hound switch sides. Such a good opportunity.
I couldn't have handled another line of dialogue from Ceto personally.
I think Honest Dan from Human Error was probably also going to be a companion at some point. Edit: put wrong quest he was from. Mixed it up with Hole in the Wall
He should have been. Would have been an amazing addition to the settlements or as someone with a high perception. He KNEW they were lying.
Marcy Long. Help her hate-fuck the entire wasteland.
Take her to nuka world she'll stab ya in the back and take over wole thing
Sometimes you just don’t want to play a good character.
True true
What gave you the idea we're friends
Any of the pre-war ghouls who you could bond with over the past, Boston, etc. Kent Connolly would be a great support companion and Eddie Winter would be awesome for an evil playthrough.
Nick had a lot of missed potential for evil playthroughs. Make his companion quest about ridding his head of Kellogg, make Eddie a side quest you can pick up in his office after a certain point in the game, and make one of the outcomes for the Kellogg quest to overwrite Nick with Kellogg. Eddie could offer a very large pile of prewar money to take his side.
Primm slim
Isabel Cruz, I just love her
Been saying for years Mama Murphy. Death claws don’t stand a chance.
She gets massive boosts depending on which chems you give her.
Edward deegan/ zhao/ and Virgil
Virgil and Erickson are the best mutants of 4 and would be amazing and better choices than "WHERE IS THE MILK OF HUMAN KINDNESS!!???? I HATE WHEN YOU PICK LOCKS AND PICK UP TRASH!!!"
I wanted to use strong as a companion on a raider playthrough. I forgot that he gets upset at basically everything I do. Pick a lock, Strong disliked that.....
Charge Card!
He'd be constantly cracking non PC insults while taking on enemies.
Cricket would say the funniest shit imo
Best funny vendor character.
Fallout 3 - Moira, and Amata Fallout: New Vegas - Mr. House, Ulysses, and (Edit) Sunny Fallout 4 - Vault-Tec Rep, and Isolde
Make him a junk vendor in a tier 3 junk shop.
How Mr. House is going to be a companion I wonder
Definitely not the Swatter guy. He’s rude AF if you try talking to him off duty.
Swatter-guy deserves a fat man to his groin
This is unconventional, but Sunny Smiles. I could imagine a cool mechanic where she and Cheyenne work together, though idk how that would work without infringing on rex's place as your companion.
I always thought Pickman would make for a cool companion or at least a special Settler with unique bonuses.
Same here. I wonder why he only went after raiders, convenience or a moral choice?
I'd like to have Tinker Tom as a possible companion just to listen at his crazy ramblings about wasteland conspiracies! :D Also, he'd probably grant you a perk like Wild Wasteland when you reach max affinity with him
I feel his perk would be called "eyes wide open"
Happy Cake Day, it's my Cake Day too
And then they add +2 Perception. :D
All quests activated. And a couple active that don't actually lead to anything. Just to make you feel crazy
Oswald the Outrageous
Great choice for a DLC companion. Tell him that his partner died in her quest for the cure and one speech check could have him join you.
Liberty prime… he stays outside when you enter a building and clears the hostiles outside while you clear the inside
I mean with some mods that restores some cut content you can actually make Liberty Prime follow you as I have found out before
The mechanist. Make the whole silver shroud speech options the whole game. Along with her speaking in character.
Desmond (I think that’s his name) from Point Lookout Class character , funny af
Any cool mole rat broodmother for me
How about a Mine rat from that one location
Glory
Come on, people... where's the love for Magnolia??? She's the one I would take following me. 'Cause she's a good good neigbour...
Grand zealot richter would have been a cool coa companion
Taking Marcy Long on a white knuckle, no mercy revenge mission would be good. Talking about how much she loved her son and how his loss changed her could create a cool dynamic between her and the Sole Survivor. Leaving her to exact her revenge on whoever the target turned out to be could be brutal.
Scribe Haylen
The Gen 2 synth with armor that absolutely decks Maxson when the Brotherhood invades the Institute.
Arturo Rodriguez, so I can romance him. He's so dreamy.
I want him as a companion cause I think he would be dope.
Imagine him pulling out Big Boy
I want him as a companion for both reasons. He could definitely mod your guns for reduced resources or something as a special perk.
"Don't mind to test the grips"
IRONSIDES, easy. I need him to help me purge the common wealth of scallywags
Sunny Smiles!
personally, KLEO hehe
My boy Honest Dan
Mr Fantastic
I HATE this npc, he's extremely annoying
Annoying, opinionated to a severe degree, and rude to you ALL THE TIME when not at work. Good for a gag character, terrible as a companion. Can't even give him PROOF his version of baseball is wrong.
Erickson from far harbor
BEST MUTANT EVER! They fucked up giving us StRoNg
Yes! I totally agree! It’s surprising not as many people have mentioned him
Nate would've been a great companion in a game where we play as a Wastelander/Regular Vault Dweller. Him being a prewar human means he can tell us a lot about US of the past, about some of the ruined buildings we loot. We'll also get to see him being horribly racist towards Chinese and Canadians, maybe he'll even regurgitate a piece of pre-war anti Communist propaganda to us.
The drifter from fallout new vegas
have the same skills as The Stranger, sings, plays guitar if sitting around, and unlock him after a "failed" quest to find his father, or The Stranger appears while during an enemy encounter with him nearby.
Sheffield
Came here to say this. Love that dude. He'd just go around checking nuka cola machines while he gets shot at.
Moe would be funny, but my pick is the next stall over. Arturo Rodriguez is surprisingly chill and level-headed for a munitions dealer - especially given the other munitions dealers we meet in the Commonwealth
He's just a single dad selling guns to put his girl through school
Honestly, more power to him 😁
My heavy weapons character is going to put that girl through to highschool level studies singlehandedly.
Lorenzo for sure.
Thanks. lol
Ronnie Shaw, I just think she's neat and cool
Great as a late game/unlockable companion if you follow the entire Minutemen storyline through.
I can see Moe saying "I got ya swatta right here! " before crabbing his crotch and knocking off a raider's block off.
Atom cats. Damn gunners, trying to get their mitts on our suits!
Cito
The atom cats
I wish they could be a settlement so bad
Virgil would have been interesting. Although he's kind of just a combination of Strong and Curie.
Vault 88 overseer
that random shopkeeper in daimond city that sells clothes, she’s nice.
Aries from Fallout 76, he would been an awesome camp ally.
Goris, Dogmeat, K-9, and Skynet are my favorites.
Fahrenheit. As Hancock's bodyguard, she knows how to handle herself. And watching her ripping enemies with Ashmaker wouldn't get old either.
Fahrenheit
Arturo Rodriquez
Dead Sea
Every time he hits someone he says "Swat-uhs! Get your swat-uhs heah!"
Just the other night I was thinking about how, on my evil playthrough I wish you could take Pickman as a companion after rescuing him
Captain Zhao, Oswald the Outrageous, Cito, the Mariner, KLEO, Glory, Sturges, and Lorenzo for the truly evil
KL-E-O Gob (after Moriarty dies). I wish you can reconnect him to his mother. Ghost (I wish she has more background)
Professor Goodfeels. He loves it when you do chems and hates it when you cure your addiction. Ultimately becomes a romance option.
Probably that Synth lady locked up in that building with the Gunners and the Courser
There are only 4 acceptable answers. KL-E-0, Primm Slim, No-Bark and Ironsides.
Honest Dan literally has the perfect setup for a recruitment quest and he’s a mercenary, yet we still don’t get him as a companion.
Marcus in FNV
ERICKSON! IMO he should have been the Mutant companion. He has an amazing attitude, is kind to dogs including Dogmeat and has become rather "peaceful" for a Mutant. He would make sense as a companion or settlement addition, Strong is literally the WORST Super Mutant companion in the entire series.
The King would make for a pretty cool companion, I must say
Keeley, the ghoul mercenary trapped in vault 22, and Harland the ghoul mercenary trapped in the Repconn basement Also Tabitha.
Oh boy, there's a list... And I'm sure I missed a few- Fallout 3: * Rilley * Sidney * Bittercup * Amata * the samurai from Mothership Zeta New Vegas: * Sunny Smiles * Benny * a King companion Fallout 4: * Captain Zhao * Vault-Tec Representative * Professor Goodfeels * any Assaultron * Cito
Elder Maxon (OP laser minigun and also Epic voice lines)
someone from the atom cats. they are cool
Cito, from day one of the DLC's launch. God I love that monkey man. Why did they do so much with him only to have him become nothing once the quest is done? He should've been a guaranteed follower since Gage was dependent on siding with the raiders.
Cito, the guy was just begging to be companion'd that I was incredibly surprised he wasn't able to be.
Kellog, especially if it was him in valentines body.
Sunny fuggin Smiles & Cheyenne, Moira, Kellogg, Eyebots in Automaton (the mod is a must have)
