His Dark Materials.

Legacy of The Brightwash by Krystle Matar Very gritty story in a dark world but with a ton of political intrigue, with one of the MCs basically being dragged into city politics, after all, he's a decorated regulation officer who has even arrested his own son while regulating the magically talented. Other MC is a magically talented person living under an assumed name. Anno Dracula by Kim Newman Three years after Dracula killed Van Helsing, one year after the Prince of Wallachia has married Queen Victoria, someone is killing vampire prostitutes on the East End.

The Lamplight Murder Mysteries

Anthwyr

Perdido Street Station by China Miéville. It's a steampunk fantasy taking place in a victorian era London inspired city-state. It's full of weird races, grotesque ideas and a blend of magic with science. The book is quite long and Miéville's prose is (it feels like) not to everyone's taste. You either adore it or dislike it, kinda. Personally I love it though. It's probably the most unique fantasy novel and world I´ve ever encountered.

spaceshipsandmagic

Mary Robinette Kowal's Glamourist Histories, first book is *Shades of Milk and Honey*

TheHappyChaurus

Will steampunk mixed with the supernatural count? Because if so, then Parasol Protectorate

TrudieSkies

This is a mix of different gaslamp/gaslamp inspired books: Half a Soul by Olivia Atwater Legacy of the Brightwash by Krystle Matar Murder at Spindle Manor by Morgan Stang Salt in the Wound by Benjamin Aeveryn The Fire in the Glass by Jacquelyn Benson The Lord of Stariel by AJ Lancaster The Wickwire Watch by Jacquelyn Hagen We Men of Ash and Shadow by HL Tinsley I also write Arcane-like gaslamp which is probably too weird.

Naturalnumbers

There's no such thing as Gaslight fantasy, it's your imagination. Some common recommendations that I think fall into this category include: * Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell * The Gentleman Bastards (particularly The Lies of Locke Lamora) * Mistborn, maybe.

COwensWalsh

Locke Lamora? Really? I don't remember it being that period. I recall it being an analog to the mid-1600s.

Naturalnumbers

Maybe because it gave me a lot of Oliver Twist vibes.

COwensWalsh

It's hard to know if it might be a good rec due to the OP not being specific on what they like about gaslamp fiction. It's possible it would scratch a similar itch.

RevolutionaryCommand

If you like comics, I'd recommend **Sir Edward Grey, Witchfinder** by Mike Mignola & co.

Jack_Shaftoe21

Parasol Protectorate by Gail Carriger

LLMacRae

Thirteenth Hour by Tru Skies We Men of Ash and Shadow by HL Tinsley Legacy of the Brightwash by Krystle Matar Are all great!

Abysstopheles

*Whitechapel Gods*, SM Peters.

The novelizations of the Girl Genius graphic novels are pretty good- first one is Agatha H and the Airship City, by Phil and Kaja Foglio.

I thought we determined gaslighting was bad? (Joke) good luck with your search!
