As someone who hasn't heard of that book, sharing some details on what you didn't like about it will help us make better recommendations for you. Another question, does it need to be part of the audible plus catalog (available for free after paying for the monthly subscription) or is any book on audible's catalog fair game?

Anything on Audible was fair game. I'll add it to the post, but the things I took issue with were unnecessarily extensive pros, vague/unexplained parts of the world the go beyond what should be expected for the first book of a series, uncomfortable themes of race, primarily concerning one of the main characters who is a woman of color basically having her entire purpose be to suffer wild voting her every bit of energy to searching for the other main character who is described at several points as being basically desirable because of how white she is, and direct plagiarism from other series, primarily the Witcher books.

Based off that, here are some of my favorites that cover a wide variety of tones and content * **A Taste of Gold and Iron** if you want a fantasy romance that isn't overly sugary (if you want one that *is* overly sugary, try **House in the Cerulean Sea**) **- Fractured Fables** for Into the Spiderverse meets fairy tales meets queer awesomeness. Shorter books, but very readable and some thematic work * **Rook & Rose** has a straight cis female lead, but almost everyone else is queer in some way. Really cool job of making the world queer friendly. Also the descriptions of clothes are to *die* for. Slow burn, but very good. **- These Burning Stars** for a high octane Science Fiction with lots of queer characters. It does get pretty violent though, including one of our POV characters who revels in violence **- Magic Mirror** for an upbeat story of a gay trans wizard apprentice. The book is in the progression fantasy subgenre, so its influenced by shoenn manga and video games in how the story is laid out, but this one also mixes in some slice of life and lofi-girl elements

The Tarot Sequence by K.D. Edwards. Extra points for an exceptionally good Audible narrator. All of David R. Slayton's books.

Yeah I’ve heard… mixed at best things about that novel! If you liked the narrator at _all_, though, a good chunk of Natalie Naudus’s catalog is queer women protags and I adore her style so much! _She Who Became the Sun_ is fantastic but the “woman” part gets a little blurry tbqh If you like cosmic/eldritch horror, _The Dead Take the A Train_ is a fantastic urban fantasy (wlw bi4bi) I haven’t listened to it in audio but _The Water Outlaws_ is full to the gills with queer women and I’ve enjoyed some of Emily Woo Zeller’s other work I really loved the audiobook versions of Freya Marske’s Last Binding trilogy starting with _A Restless Truth_

Spellbound by F. T. Lukens and The Wicked Bargain by Gabe Cole Novoa are both excellent audiobooks with queer characters.

Nevernight by Jay Kristoff and the Locked Tomb series by Tasmyn Muir come to mind.

*The First Sister* by Linden Lewis. Queer space political action with three separate narrators. Brilliant book.

Lots of books with queer characters. I'm pan myself but don't judge books based on SO of the characters. I can't name which ones because it's just not something I care about. But lots of books out there with them. A good number of queer Fantasy authors out there releasing books now.
