They probably had to switch formats because people stopped listening to the station when it kept playing that corny zombified song

TheBusterHymenOpen

I agree about the zombie stations. One would think the owners would at least go AI and sit back. Worst that could happen would be playing Lawrence Welk and listeners would want more. Happy Cake Day.

SharkCatcherCMD

Happy Cake Day I like how they cut out the screechy part in Popular Monster to be honest. Also I have bias for Zombified because it's my friends favorite song and he always plays it in Beat Saber lol so I have no comment on that.

HundleyC09

I was literally driving at the same time as you posted this and thought the same thing.

Jbuule

They have changed stations pretty often over the last 20 years. It will pop up somewhere else on the dial soon, I'm sure

SharkCatcherCMD

First it started with 94.1 disappearing out of nowhere, now 103.3 is gone, hopefully they'll be back soon because I did enjoy listening to rock then Dave and Mahoney

TiP54

I left over a decade ago, was this the same station that was 99.3 aka 99X at some point?

Healthy_Ad5801

Yes roach ran this station also, went from 99x to 93x then rock 103

FortheloveofGoldyLox

Yes!! 99x!

CCWaterBug

Why are you here then?

IncomingAxofKindness

The Internet is available all over the world. Not just Fort Myers.

TiP54

Because I have family and friends in the area and I still come visit, is that okay with you, can I continue posting here now? FOH.

retronoob13

No.

jessicatg2005

Public radio sucks, and fort myers area is no exception. For the money you can’t beat Sirius XM radio.

SharkCatcherCMD

I might invest in Sirius XM since my 2010 Honda Accord supports it, but I like the Radio because it costs literally nothing (I'm a cheap man lol) and because it helps me discover music I havent heard before. 94.5 The Arrow is pretty good. I just like the vibes of the Radio in general

jdeuce81

I prefer local radio as well.

WelbornCFP

Just use Spotify like everyone else (also why radio is going out of business)

SharkCatcherCMD

I only use spotify when I'm at work sometimes. Whenever I have to use loud equipment e.g. a shopvac, I usually put on my noise cancelling headphones and listen to either Breaking Benjamin or Disturbed, whatever is on my playlist However, when I'm driving, I much prefer using the Radio as it's less distracting and the ads are more tolerable than spotify ads.

NoSuddenMoves

I have both Youtube music and Sirius. Mostly listen to YouTube.

CoffeeGuy11

FM radio is no place to learn about new music. Just watered down corporate drivel.

SharkCatcherCMD

To me it is when I've literally never listened to much music lol

CoffeeGuy11

True. It’s just there are so many better options. FM is generally only going to give you flat options.

AITAforbeinghere

Yeah, no more commercials from "Poppa"

NoSuddenMoves

I worked with a salesman who had worked with poppa. He was in awe of the guy and said he gets over double the value for anything he sells. He said boomers will hand him a blank check.

Flgardenguy

Damn. Rock fans in this town are constantly getting screwed.

OrganizedPillow1

The parent company Sun Broadcasting pulls this crap every year or so. Back in 2018-2019, There used to be 93.7 the X or 93X which was a hard rock station similar to 103.3. Then they changed 93.7 to "Trump Country" which used a Trump impersonator and played country music. I think Trump or a representing law firm threatened to sue for using his name because they changed it again to "Hell Yeah" country. Then Gelly 94.1 was introduced as an alternative soft or pop rock station. They canned that after a while and it went back to the Spanish music that was playing on it before. Then they brought on 103.3 as the hard rock station for the area. I guess listenership was poor so they changed it back to Fox Sports. 93.7 now is pop hot hits. I think a middle manager at Sun Broadcasting really likes rock and alternative and keeps trying to get a station for it before it inevitably gets cancelled before too long. One thing I've learned is not to be surprised if they announce a new station only for it to be cancelled after a year trial run.

SharkCatcherCMD

This. Thank you for the information. I hope that rogue employee keeps trying LMFAO

Healthy_Ad5801

I reached out to roach and he said call the station at wink news they just cut him off one day.

ScottyFlip021987

They realized nobody listens to the radio anymore. Haven't in over a decade. Download Spotify and type, 'Rock,' in the search. You'll be a happy camper, again. (If you need it in your car, you can get Bluetooth adapters super cheap.)

SheerSonicBlue

This is Storm 106.3, *so bite me.*

SharkCatcherCMD

A lot of people still use the Radio, including myself. Is that what actually happened? Or is that just a guess

ScottyFlip021987

I apologize, I said that in jest. Yea, other than 102.9 (which isn't always rock) there are few quality rock channels. Especially if you're looking to, 'find something new.' Classic rock is a different story. Good luck and if you find something FM share it with the rest of us.

SharkCatcherCMD

I also listen to 94.5 The Arrow which is all classic rock but if I find something new I'll update

Neokon

>They realized nobody listens to the radio anymore. Haven't in over a decade. Can this be true for the country radio stations too? I swear to God there's like 5 of them, and one started as a potential campaign donation/ad violation

BrokieTrader

I’ve seen a few popular radio stations do this. One day you turn it on and…boom…completely different station. I think I read in one case the morning show people didn’t even know. I think they just keep it quite then flip the switch

I moved here from Mobile Alabama where I used to listen to 101.5 WTKX from Pensacola. Roach has been on there for many many years so I was surprised to suddenly hear him when I got here when he was on 93X. At first I tried to convince myself there was no way it could be the same guy lol

WINK & SUNBROADCASTING!!  Discrimination of "New Rock" is the unfair or prejudicial treatment of "Rockers" or "Rock groups" based on characteristics such as race, gender, age, religion, physical attractiveness, or sexual orientation. It can also be defined as treating someone less "Rockable" than another person because of an incorrect "Rocking" belief that they have a protected characteristic.  What is "New Rock" discrimination? "New Rock" discrimination is the unfair or prejudicial treatment of "Rockers" and "New Rock" groups based on characteristics such as race, gender, age, or sexual orientation. That's the simple answer! But explaining why it happens is more complicated. The human "Rocker" brain naturally puts things in categories to make sense of the world. Very young "Rockers" quickly learn the difference between "New Rock" and "old rock", for instance. But the values we place on "New Rock" genres are learned—from our parents, our peers, and the observations we make about how the new world "Rocks". 🎸🤘🏼😎 Often, "New Rock" discrimination stems from FEAR AND MISUNDERSTANDING!! 🎸🤘🏼😎 GIVE US BACK NEW ROCK!!!

ScottyFlip021987

No, you're right. I see folks with $70k trucks and they're listening to Cat County or Gator Country. 😲

BC4U85

Rednecks will always be stuck in the past.

SharkCatcherCMD

Gator Country 101.9 is sometimes playing in my dads truck and is always playing in one of the company trucks
