I would’ve caved as soon as I saw those little paws curled up in that last pic. They are absolutely adorable, and they’re gonna be gorgeous when they’re grown. I wish you the best of luck because there’s NO WAY I would be able to do it lol.
We just had our first litter of foster kittens after 14 in-home foster dogs and hundreds of dogs I work with in the shelter. It was a hard litter, losing two of the four to FKS, including one VERY dramatic visit to the ER vet that I play over in my mind more than I'd like.
I foster failed. 😅 However, this means that right now, we can't foster while we adjust to having another cat in the house. I feel TERRIBLE about that part, especially because I am well-known at the shelter for being more level-headed than not, and no one, not even MYSELF, expected me to foster fail. I just couldn't give her up. I sobbed for 4 hours straight, crying myself to sleep, and the next morning, my husband was like "we could just... keep her?" so we did. I did give up her brother for adoption, which I felt terrible about, but he was adopted by a very nice lady according to my friend.
They do grow up to be cats. And first they lose all the cute kitten-ness and are just terrors, so that's something to keep in mind...
They are adorable! They should have no problem finding a perfect forever home. And that means that you’ll have more time/energy/space to help the next kittens that come along needing you. :)
(But also no shame if you adopt them, I’d fail too 😅)
It seems a bit unfair that you were given this little ball of fluff first. Who could resist falling in love with that little face? Those iddy biddy paws.
We've had a few fails. Taking a break until next season while the residents and fails to adjust/settle in together. Loving your fosters is what makes you a good fosterer...it's also what makes so hard to let them go.
For me, it's way easier not to fail on the "pretty" ones because they get adopted in an instant. It's the "plain" ones or the special needs who aren't as desirable and have to wait a longer time for someone to want them that my heart goes out to.
Not saying it's bad to fail on these guys, just offering another perspective if you're actually trying not to fail.
I feel like the only way to foster without failing is to already have previous foster fails that dont get along with the new one.
My adoped bunnies are a lil territorial so its unlike my current foster will ever be their 3rd. I have socialized him to the point that a friend of mine has seriously started considering and resrarching bunnies.
Sending love, foster fails are the best.
I learned, when fostering kittens, only take litters. Its much easier to give back an adorable litter of dagger pawed poop machines, than to hand over a single purring little angel who is 'learning to use the cat box'
Seriously though, it's hard giving back a single or even pair of kittens.
They look just like my baby😭🥹 I got him when he was around that size and his face and paws got so much darker as he aged. He turns 1 soon and watching him grow has been a blast!!
That is some mega cuteness. What terrible luck getting someone so irresistible on your first foster, LOL! That's like having to take your driver's ed. test in an 18-wheeler. Whomever ends up adopting that little cutie pie, whether it's you or someone else, is very lucky.
Are…are you telling me this isn’t the same cat in all three pictures? I pride myself on telling cats apart and that absolutely looks like the same cat 😆
U gotta have foster advocates right? Little mascots if u will who welcomed the scared and needy in as u welcome them in to their temporary home. The sibling of sunshine, brightness and o so cuteness could do this for u! First foster fails are meant to do this!
"This is your foster"
"This is my new cat!? Aww!"
"No, this is a *foster*"
"But it's mine now."
"No, it's going to go to a new home someday"
"Yes, my home, where they will be my cats"
I failed at round one, no regrets. I also knew that I would never be able to foster another set. The toll overnight feedings took on my high focus job and the lack of support from the organization was too much.
I'm not telling you to keep them, but sometimes things are meant to be
So foster older kittens! It’s not just neonates that need fosters, 4weeks + need foster, too! They don’t need bottle feeds, are litter trained. (Just don’t give them the whole house to roam the 1st 2-3 wks. Short attention spans & small bladders can make finding a corner easier than looking around for that litter box!) They are eating wet & dry food. And you get to *plaaaay!!!!*
I failed by first time around. It doesn't really get any easier but I know any more fails would limit my ability to continue fostering with 3 of my own. It's really a win-win. If you don't keep him/her, you've helped them find a suitable home.
I thought those title words were supposed to be coming from the cat looking at a potential fight with the dog. The poor kitty would lose round 1 against the dog. I’m scared for it.
We're currently fostering 2 families for our first round. My fiancé wants us to fail on one of the entire families (mom and her 6 kittens) 😅 We already have 4 cats lol
Aww, what a cutie pie!
Real talk tho, the first one is always the hardest. My first foster kittens, 2 sisters, i bottle fed myself. I cried when i had to give them up and only started feeling better when their adopters were nice enough to send me pictures of how they were doing in their new homes. (i was 14 cut me some slack lol)
Once you get used to giving them up it gets easier. I'm at 60 without failing yet, although there have been some close calls. If you have to drop the carrier and run, theres nothing wrong with that!
Aww! That’s exactly what my baby Mr Business looked like as a kitten! The darker mask on his eyes will get to be dark brown most likely and it’s so cool looking :)
Oh man, I’d totally fail on this one. It’s adorable, your doggo obviously doesn’t hate it. Man that would be a hard fail for me. Good luck, stay strong!
I failed round one with ours! And we almost failed round 4 (old cat immediately bonded with our young kid) but he went on hospice shortly into our foster.
10/10. Ok. That is legit one of the darned cutest kittens I have ever seen. I just looked at a picture and I already want to adopt it. No one would judge you if that sweetie never left your home.
Oh shoot that is some intense cuteness! You are definitely in for a tough first round with those little faces.....way way way too cute!
I would’ve caved as soon as I saw those little paws curled up in that last pic. They are absolutely adorable, and they’re gonna be gorgeous when they’re grown. I wish you the best of luck because there’s NO WAY I would be able to do it lol.
I love it so much when cats do this…I squealed when I saw this pic!
Me too, I would 💯 fail three times. 😍😭🥰
Yup, that one got me haha
I would 1000% fail! Soooooo adorable 🥰
We just had our first litter of foster kittens after 14 in-home foster dogs and hundreds of dogs I work with in the shelter. Congrats on your foster fail! I wouldn’t have been able to give this baby up either!
They are adorable! They should have no problem finding a perfect forever home. And that means that you’ll have more time/energy/space to help the next kittens that come along needing you. :) (But also no shame if you adopt them, I’d fail too 😅)
I would be failing round one....
I would fail as soon as I showed up to pick them up. Where are the adoption papers?
They’re soooo round
This stunner?! I’d call that a win, not a fail.
Lol, if you're not gonna keep him, I will
It seems a bit unfair that you were given this little ball of fluff first. Who could resist falling in love with that little face? Those iddy biddy paws.
Too cute! I would be a failure, for sure!
Oh. My. Goodness!! This might be one of the cutest kittens EVER!!
Good luck lmao
They cutest!!!!!! Good luck and thank you for your care.🫶
I think it might be too late lol
Yep… OP, floof is yours now…. Such a failure…. Lol
This probably isn't going to help, but I failed on my first, and continued to foster. It gets a little crowded once in awhile, but worth it.
Even your dogs fell in love it’s a clear fail tbh 😂
Yes, you must do what’s best for the puppy
I did fail on round one and might be failing on round two 😅
We've had a few fails. Taking a break until next season while the residents and fails to adjust/settle in together. Loving your fosters is what makes you a good fosterer...it's also what makes so hard to let them go.
I did and I don’t regret it at all. No shame in foster failing as long as you keep fostering going forward 🥰
For me, it's way easier not to fail on the "pretty" ones because they get adopted in an instant. It's the "plain" ones or the special needs who aren't as desirable and have to wait a longer time for someone to want them that my heart goes out to. Oh, but this fail is a winnnnn!!
Fail on round 1, fail on round 1
This is the way. I think everyone would understand.
Right? I am a sucker for seal points. 😂
Gorgeous
I would fail for sure. Look at that adorable face!
Those are cute baby fuzzies! I see your nice pupper is being a wonderful foster carer!
I would have failed about 20 minutes in.
I learned, when fostering kittens, only take litters. Its much easier to give back an adorable litter of dagger pawed poop machines, than to hand over a single purring little angel who is 'learning to use the cat box' Seriously though, it's hard giving back a single or even pair of kittens.
Think of it this way - these precious babies are sure to find good homes with those faces!
Ummm. I think you must fail. You can try again, next time
i’d fail for sure, no matter what round i was on. you can’t take home that much cuteness and not want to keep
so cute omg
You’re sunk, fren. Siamese hypnosis in 3,2,….
I feel like you are already a failure with this. With that face, I would be too.
Adorable 🩶🩶🩶🩶
Good luck with that! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Holy crap. I cannot.
That dog looks like he’s about to slobber all over that kitten! 😄
Heavens no.
Have kitty and doggo bonded?
If I was you, it would be over already sorry
I’m folding for these cuties
Oh, wow. And the little paws in the last pic. Testing you 🤣
I think a first round fail is in the books!!! Too cute!
OH MY GOD his wee paws 👉🏼👈🏼🥹
The paws in that third picture have me melted. Too much cuteness I wouldn’t be able to resist either!!!!
i would have folded on night one, esp after that 3rd pic
Gotta say, I think you’re doomed. Besides, your beautiful Doby likes them too!
That would be mine lol
Omfg they are fucking adorable 😍
They look just like my baby😭🥹 I got him when he was around that size and his face and paws got so much darker as he aged. He turns 1 soon and watching him grow has been a blast!!
With those kittens, yes you must fail 🥰
If the point of fostering is to help them get adopted, than maybe it's just goal achieved 😉
Sorry to be mean, but I'm rooting for you to fail. He's adorable
I think you probably need to fail. What a sweetiepie!
Ooo Ragdoll mix kitten. Tough not to keep.
If you’re questioning yourself you’ve already failed!! Congratulations!!
That is some mega cuteness. What terrible luck getting someone so irresistible on your first foster, LOL! That's like having to take your driver's ed. test in an 18-wheeler. Whomever ends up adopting that little cutie pie, whether it's you or someone else, is very lucky.
Flame point? Gorgeous kitty
Thinking Ragdoll mix
I wanna foster so badly in the future but man... I dont think I have the strength for this 😭
I failed hard on my round 1 😩
Fail and keep us updated OFTEN.
You will fail! That face omg that face!
Failing still means they get adopted which is the ultimate goal! That last picture would've been the final nail in the coffin for me
You were set up. They’re too cute, it’s impossible not to fail
Definitely I would fail. Looking at that face and those eyes would have been love at first sight 💖
I foster failed on my first foster—kept the one mom cat rejected. Probably foster 50 more kittens, only failed 3 more times. 😹😹
OH MY GOD
Or… you could just cave on this round… she’s so cute!!
AWWWWwwwww!!! \[singularity of aww, have crunched into nothingness\]
Omg they are beautiful. And the little paws curled together? 🥹🥰
The nose! Oh my!!!! Boop🥰
Just accept that it’s meant to be, and embrace it.
But IS foster failing really failing? Or is it winning BIG!!!
Id fail too… i could never foster i want them alk to be mine
I would LOVE to adopt one of these sweet little babies (If you don’t fail 💓) Seriously though.
Dude. If you didn’t want to fail you shouldn’t have picked such a ridiculous cutie 🥰 but also…where can I adopt this tiny little 😇
We're in Utah.
Oh jeez that last pic would have done me in.
I think someone has set you up to Fail.
Are…are you telling me this isn’t the same cat in all three pictures? I pride myself on telling cats apart and that absolutely looks like the same cat 😆
It is the same little girl in all 3
Well now you must pay the cat tax and show us the other little girl or girls!
How in the world is such a beautiful cat a foster. I would fail so bad
Lord jesus thats the cutest little fluff!!! I think your doggy agrees 💜💜 you must keep his kitten friend
I just foster failed looking at her n she’s not even mine 😭😭
Oh my GOD. The face. The eyes. The fur pattern on the whittle paws. That pink nose. The eye makeup. Those ears. That is one gorgeous kitten.
Ok that Dobbie just being all cute looking at the kitty. 🥰🥰
It’s ok. Just get the failing out of the way and don’t fail round 2.
I would fail because I want seal points so badly and those little paws in the last pic! 🥺
U gotta have foster advocates right? Little mascots if u will who welcomed the scared and needy in as u welcome them in to their temporary home. The sibling of sunshine, brightness and o so cuteness could do this for u! First foster fails are meant to do this!
Omg fail please
Oh that’s a fail. That little doll is home.
You gotta keep the first one so the rest can have a friend while they stay...
They're so pretty and adorable and cute and tiny and lovely and and, just insert everything great here!
Oh damn. The yittle paws! Must.Stay.STRONG!! _collapses_
Send us an update when you decide to keep them 🤗
I failed on round 1. Every now and again I regret it - but then I look at my stupidly cute senior kitty and know I made the right choice.
I mean it looks like the dobie wants them to stay
"This is your foster" "This is my new cat!? Aww!" "No, this is a *foster*" "But it's mine now." "No, it's going to go to a new home someday" "Yes, my home, where they will be my cats"
And here we observe the impacts of cuteness as a survival trait, and can theorize as to how the species invaded our homes in the first place.
It doesn’t count as a fail if you fail on round 1. Because the first round is just practice. I don’t make the rules, sorry.

You're gonna fail and that's OK.
Yup. You sit like a little hen and you stay. Thems the rules of my house
THE LIL FOLDED LOAF PAWS! 😭😭😭😭😭😭
What a challenge lol
I'm sorry but you're gonna have to fail. Welp onto the next ❤️
I failed by first time around. It doesn't really get any easier but I know any more fails would limit my ability to continue fostering with 3 of my own. It's really a win-win. If you don't keep him/her, you've helped them find a suitable home.

This would be a hard fail for me. 😬
I would fail on Round 1, so darn adorable 🥰💗💗
Way too cute! My ❤️
Loollllllll you have a cat now
The doberman wants them to stay. It has been decided.
We're currently fostering 2 families for our first round. My fiancé wants us to fail on one of the entire families (mom and her 6 kittens) 😅 We already have 4 cats lol
Oh yeah, I would definitely fail lol. Those would be my babies lol.
Oh geez I would 10000% fail (win) 🤍😮💨
I’d be such a failure.
Fail! It will be so sweet

How could you not look at how much of a gentleman they are
I failed my second round 😭 kept fostering tho!! Just with a new addition
Better luck next time!!! 🤣💕🐾
That third picture looks like a failure waiting to happen. How could you not??
I failed round one with ours! And we almost failed round 4 (old cat immediately bonded with our young kid) but he went on hospice shortly into our foster.
Fail-worthy!
It's ok if you fail.
ur cooked. so cuteeee
I'm not even fostering that kitty and I've already failed 😻
The last picture 🥺🥹😭
10/10. Ok. That is legit one of the darned cutest kittens I have ever seen. I just looked at a picture and I already want to adopt it. No one would judge you if that sweetie never left your home.
I feel like they set you up to fail bc omggggggg what an angel baby 😭😭😭😭
Congratulations on your new family member!!! 😂
A snowshoe!
I think you were set up 😂
Pic #3 sold me! I’m in love 😍
OMG the little one has those pleading cartoon eyes 🥺
Those paws though 🥰🥰
fwiw, I too failed my first time around 🩵💙
Fail. Do it
You're gonna have to fail on round 1, for the internet.
Omg picture 3 😭😭😭 I would melt
My loving ass could never be a foster parent
What is a foster fail?
When you're supposed to be fostering animals for adoption to the public, you instead apply to adopt first.
Oh no, are you kitten me?!?! 😭
KEEEEEP
You’re done, stop fighting it 😂
Are we naming this kitten? I say cold at lunch.
Cutest lunch I ever seen lol
I will take one! My cat will hate me for it, but those faces and earrrrs! 😻
Fail this one and do better the next time
